  1. The crazy behavoir in Ranked continues! First, our Acasta doesnt move from the spawn. Takes him ~90 sec to get moving. Then, he is behind all Battleships. Me (Cesare) is pushing with my Mutzuki B, where enemy Minekaze and König are. Once we spot them, our Acasta throws torps - from a distance of 8~9 km on a fleeing DD. He hits our Mutzuki and would have prolly hit me too, so I ram the König to gain the best out of it, cuz I have to dodge torps of 2 Minekazes at the same time. I actually manage to also kill the Minekaze with my guns for a double strike. Now you´d think, the Acasta would a) apologize for his huge mistake b) send a "well done" our way for clearing the cap. Well you can guess again guys... After that, he refuses to cap, our 4k Nicholas and the (thx to him) 1,8k Mutzuki have to actually gunboat the last DD, secure A and B and the win. PS: the Acasta even had the nerve to report me. Also: Link to this forum send ingame to the Acasta-player. Run your mouth here if you dare?
  2. And thats definatly the right way to go. My personal grunge against those type of missions come from my early days of wows: the ARP-mission-chains for the Myoko-clones. There was this nice mission "sink 25 (i think it was 25) russian ships". Very nice for someone who only has russian cruisers! I was just at T8 at that time and had nothing else but the russian cruisers. I was sometimes running to A1 with my Chapa and STILL getting shot at from everything, rushing behind me, sometimes ignoring half my fleet 5 km next to them. At the same time, I was trying to kill russianships myself. It was utterly stupid. On top of that: I had to do the other parts of the missions with the ships that I had - in randoms. So I infact managed to get 100 Torpedos hits and 500 secondary hits with Chapavey and Takao. And thats another part of the problem. People can argue here, that the missions are easy "if you pick the right ships" - but its missing the point again. Many people out there dont have the right ships. Which brings me to: I mean its a question the sort of "what was there first: chicken or egg". But sure, technically, the players are at fault. It doesnt help tho to encourage them to play counterproductive. I agree. There are not much goals for each class, that you could design as missiongoals without having a possible negative effect on the gameplay. Getting Caps in DDs is one thing (then there is Khaba ofc). Besides that, you have the usualy grind-stuff like: gain XP/credits/captain XP. If we would see nothing else then this, some guys would complain, how boring the missions are - and they´d have a point aswell. There is always two sides to a coin.

Bug in Cherry Blossom - 5 Star impossible

If you have a couple of guys we can form a division today/this weekend and do Cherry Blossom? Then I can send the replay and all other stuff to @Crysantos and @MrConway since I run vanillagame. I think I should be able to bring 3~4 guys.
  4. Oh in that sense it is (although it would do without ridiculing the OP - and dont I recall you condeming cyber-mobbing not long ago? ;) ). But look my post right above yours - it doesnt tackle the real problem that comes with this type of mission.
  5. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=%2Fs You know that and I know that. The point however is, that there so many geniuses out there, that dont. They just kill themself, having their mission in mind. Losing the game for yourself and the other 11 guys on your team? they dont care. next battle! still 650k pot dmg missing! And thats why its bad design. IMO - those missions should encourage good play. Its not so easy to do always, I know. Khaba has been brought up, and yea, a good player easily racks up potential damage in the millions and thats part of what makes the ship so strong. Put an unexperiances player with that mission in the Khaba and he´ll probably rush B head up, sinking in minute 3 with 150.000 potential damage aswell.
  6. If everyone would stick to co-op, that wouldnt be a problem (although some co-op-only players might disagree) but it happens in randoms aswell. Its nice when you lose 4 DDs in the first 3 mins, because somehow the matchmaker decided to put all of them in one team. And thats why @T0byJugs long post is really... not even worth one letter it contains, sorry to say.
  7. Dont let them ruin your day. Everyone, that can read and can understand the point you were trying to bring across, understood, you are right and its a valid subject. Yes, because since that mission is up I havent seen any RN DD just running into the enemys and trying to get shot at as much as possible. /s

Thats true. You´d never be able to dodge torps, that you spotted in the last moment. Sometimes I indeed think, that the ships in wows are too responsive, when they completly dodge your torpedospread in the last moment by turning in...

Bug in Cherry Blossom - 5 Star impossible

The problem is: its hard to gather 7 people to play this, now that most of the guys playing OP out of scedule know about this bug. They all farm OP, where they know, theyll get 5 star with a 99% guarentee. I would do it with my clan, but unfortunatly it doesnt have the capacity/number of players. Cant you guys gather 7 ppl in the office and do a quick run? Then you´d have all the data you need. Since Ive never seen a game of Cherry Blossom without this bug anymore, im pretty convinced, you´ll stumple across it aswell.

Oh yea, and thats where they get their maneuverability from. Its actually kinda interesting, when you compare the engines of huge RoRo- or Cargo-ships to, lets stick to Iowa. Wiki gives me 212.000 hp for Iowa. Then you look at passengerships with comparable size - Silja Europa, Viking Grace or AIDA-ships come to mind - they clock in between 28.000 and 44.000 hp. Cargoships again are a complete different story, since they are build even less for speed but to maximize economy. Even Tripple-E-class from Maersk has "only" 80.000 hp - and thats a whole different size compared to the Iowa. Turning the rudder and turning the ship / changing the course are two very different things - I had to learn the hard way. Manualy steering a 117m sailing ship was quite the experiance - and a nice workout. We went back and forth since we kept oversteering. Your rudder is in neutral for a long time already, yet your compass keeps clicking .... and clicking . No other option but to turn the rudder in the opposite direction and hope you get it right this time. We were more or less zig-zaging as if we are trying to avoid torpedos.
  11. Now seriously: Did it never occure to you, that maybe you do answer too fast sometimes, since it happens over and over again, that people tell you, you miss the point?
  12. A) Its (once again) bad mission design. The goal for a DD is, to hold his potential damage as low as possible! Not as high as possible. B) Its almost frustrating how many can not read/understand what the point of a discussion is. They stomp into the topic, spread their totaly missing-the-point-stuff and then, when pointed out rightfully, that they have missed the point, go on another ramble. Looking at you @ColonelPete - why dont you open your own thread, talking, how easy this mission is?

    Stalingrad at KOTS?

Let me give some perspective to this discussion. I was an admin on ESL and Clanbase (when it still existed) and was involved in making rules for ladders aswell as organasizing tournaments. Games like wows are always complicated in that sense. Since basically nothing is accessable right away and there are different levels of grind or even a paywall stopping you from getting certain ships. Whats also missing in this discussion (since we talk about an even playingfield in competitions) are the captains. There are quite some captains around with special abilites, that can make a difference (some smaller, some bigger). If you want to talk Stalkingrad in competitions, you´d have to talk captains as well. So here is how was standard procedure back in my days on ESL. Everything behind a paywall was banned from competitions and ladders with the exeption on fun-ladders (those had/have loser restrictions, basically players could agree on what to play, if they find a consens.) Also, things that were available at some point but are not available anymore, would be removed. That would here be Missouri, f.e. Now Stalingrad is tricky. Its a grind, its not a paywall, but its a grind, that isnt accessable for everyone or takes so much time (and the times you can grind it, are restricted aswell), that it would be deemed unrealistic to be open for all. At the same time, grinding T10 ships is quite hard aswell for many people and you´d need to have several ships on T10 to have a viable choice on tactics/setups. With these things in mind, and if in my time I´d were to call rules for an competition on ESL, its would definitely be set to another Tier then T10. It would avoid a decision about Stalingrad, that would lead to discussion. Most likely it would be T8, since T9 would see discussions about free XP ships and you would want to avoid that aswell. Also, special captains would be banned. Now to the people complaining about the rules of KotS: Nobody actually forces you to participate. Yes, there are prizes involved and everyone wants those. The thing is: nobody is stopping your from holding your own competitions. Or you even go to the ESL and ask them to put up a ladder. (If anyone is interested in that, ill hook you up with the right people). Games on ESL usualy start with ladders (lowest form of competition) and if the community shows activity, ESL might just push that game (and if the publishers are on board, which I think shouldnt be a problem). If someone is willing to put some efford in, f.e. ESL, you get to influence the rules and settings for that game aswell (thats how I actually started there, with another game. I just wanted to see some competition with level playingfield for everyone, got involved with ESL and if you do a good job there, you´ll rise pretty quick).

Is WoWS becoming as Toxic as WoT?

@Blixies and @Juanx man I couldnt agree more. With all this political correctness, things like metoo and 55 toilets for all the different kind of genders, you sometimes start to think, the whole world around you has gone crazy. Good to see, there are still normal people. I also think, people nowadays have too much spare time and no real problems anymore. Thats why they can focus their time on those topics... South Park was right on the money here:

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

You missed the Bretagne shooting HE in his broadside (did something like 4-5k) before I slammed 22k innit. Then Im thinking, our Kirov will finish it, so that I can take care of the Kamikaze, that was rushing me, but no. I still had to fire my back turrets on the Emerald for the kill, doding Kami torps and shoot front guns at the Kami at the same time. All this efford in vain. My suicide T22! He was one of the best imo. Map was Archipelago. So, im trying to start a discussion where to go (I usualy suggest A/B there). DD stays silent, the cruisers atleast respond. After a few sec, it becomes clear, the DD goes C (without saying anything) So we all turn towards C to support him. On the way... he slows down. Omaha overtakes him. Before reaching the cap, T22 turns away, towards B. Im a little worried but thinking "ok, its not that bad, all enemys are A, it might even be good to go for B, cap and spot. But no, he goes behind the islands in our spawn again! He then runs to J5 (get this!!) where he starts an open water gunbattle with an.. Emerald. Thats right. An Emerald. Our Bretagne followed him all the time and gets taken our aswell, cuz the Emerald torps him. How? What? Why`?

Anyone, that has ever steered a somewhat bigger vessel will laugh about how ships behave in WoWs - and laugh about realistic proposals. The time it takes for a ship with a lenght of f.e. 120 meters to react is insane. If we would have steering anything close to reality, we would all be crashing into islands. permanently.
  18. And thats the reason why it will happen over and over again. I once won a battle with Fiji/Indianapolis division on Two brothers, that went like this: Our team is falling apart and hugging the border left&right. The enemys are pushing from both sides and we are the last to defend the base. So we say: Thats futile. We will be killed anway. But all their ships are on the left and right, their base is free. Lets rush through the middle and cap them out. So we do and this makes half of the enemys run back in panic, to intercept us. They actually push us so hard, that we - again - say: this is useless, we have to run back... through the middle. Also our base is capped so we have to do something. I come back, radar the enemy DD left in our base and kill him. Meanwhile the points have turned in our favor. Win.

    Upcoming T5 Ranked

I made sure to inform the opponent team in time about what he did. I hope they reported him aswell. I can say, that a few guys at least from our team did aswell, they were pissed in the chat. understandable. Im still thinking to send the replay as a ticket to WG. Not sure if they´ll impose a sanction on that guy for not playing tho.
  20. So now I get DDs, that refuse to play from minute one. Sits in the spawn and flames, how stupid BB-players are. When I passed him, I had to sneeze (have a terrible cold right now, no joke) and tipped on my mouse once. Such a shame he didnt move and was exactly next to me, where my guns pointed. Anyway, he decides to "punish" us by not playing. Joke is on him. Saved my star, he only effed himself - and the 4 other guys on my team, which is the real shame. People like that need to be removed from the game. period. I hope I pissed him off so hard, that he never returns. PS: His "experiance", that he based his judgement on:

    Upcoming T5 Ranked

Its not the divsions that are problem. Not at all. Its the stack of potatos on our side. I had to go Solo when we passed rank 5 (Dfens manages to save star one more time then I did) and I came right away in a game, where the DD said 5 sec in the game "Im not capping, ill stay here, BBs are all newbs, Ill start to play once all BBs are in the cap". And he didnt play. As the only DD. Tell me how to win this - division or not?

    Upcoming T5 Ranked

Yea well like I said - the 40%ers just overrun me with their sheer mass. Cesare would need to be even more OP for me to carry to a decent WR. I´d need a 10 sec reload on my Cesare to deal with them in time. My team would still die faster I suppose.

Looking for a good T7 CL/CA and DD

Shchors is a nice long-range HE-spammer, thats true. But it lacks the capabilites to carry games, if it has to. It also comes down to what kind of playstyle one prefer. There, Helena, Shchors and Fiji are as different as it could be. But I´d suggest Fiji or Helena to play as T7 cruisers anyway.

    Can't finish Ovechkin mission?

Yup. I did the same thing. People get triggered by that, funny. Blame WG for making such a mission tbh.
