Why dont we try to setup regular forumite training-room sessions? 12vs12, all decently skilled, no pressure... who is with me?

And I think here lies a problem, that is spoiling the gameplay on hightiers more and more. There used to be a trade off, when someone wanted to play a radar cruiser. With the russian line it was still intact. They traded firepower/concealment/tankiness for their radar. Now, we have ships, that have it all. And on top of that, they even have the better radar. And if that is not enough - they break/bend the borders of the class, as you correctly pointed out. If it were up to me, I´d reroll the game to prior the french-BBs, then finetune the balancing finaly and the game would be fine.

I have to say: EU IV looks really tempting to pick up again. So many nations I havent tried out yet... I can already tell you, that some people wont like your sentence about "BBs are becoming obsolete", but you have a point. The high-tier meta has shifted with ships like Harugumo and Worcester and not for the better. There are some ships with capabilities right now, that shouldnt exist. And thats just another reason, why overall gameplay is going down the drain.

Incredible. I cant win atm in T10 - even in division. So if you need a sidekick - call me :D (I guess its not the best advertisment tho, when I tell you, that I keep on losing? )
-
With your stats - stay in random. No question. Players, that do 40% WR and low damage however would make more XP in co-op, im pretty sure. If they perform atleast halfway decent there, that is. PS: Did you play division or solo?
-
Its fun for the Worcester, right? If a CV drops a Yamato - the CV has fun, right? Has the Yamato fun? If a HE-Cruiser is having a BBQ on the deck of BB and is unspotted - the HE-Cruiser is having fun, right? Does the BB have fun? If a DD gets caught by a torp while reversing - the cruiser or DD, that lauched this torp, has fun, right? Had the DD, that got sunk, fun? I think I´ll summon @El2aZeR for more details about game-mechanics & fun. Not true. DD can bait radar in many ways. I do it all the time. I have HUGE fun in my DD doing that. Right. You heard the man - BUFF THE LIVING HELL OUT OF BBs! AND SLAY EVERYTHING ELSE WITH A BANHAMMER, SO HUGE, NO MAN HAS EVER SEEN A BANHAMMER OF THAT SIZE BEFORE ! Because thats what should be happening according to you. We would have such a stupid game it would actually be - no fun.
-
No, they dont. Please learn to play, before talking such nonsense.

Which mechanic is fun when you are at the suffering-end? Cant think of any I said it once again: This will kill radar-baiting and take vital infiormation from players, that have learnd how to counter Radar. This is what I do: - I see on minmap, there is a radar ship - He is in range of a cap - I look for a position, where I can get into the cap and take cover from incoming shots at the same time - this means: island between me and radarship / othership - I enter the cap, telling the radarship "HELLO M8, IM HERE!" - Radarship activates radar - I KNOW that he has his radar up, since I get detected - What you are proposing would change the situation to: I do NOT KNOW if he has his radar up. A: Current, good mechanic: I wait for the radar to be over, leave the cover, spot the radarship for my team since I know I have time now - his radar is on cooldown B: Your proposal: I can never leave my cover. I dont know if the radarship has activated his radar or if it is active at this very moment. I would only know, once I expose myself to his LoS, effectifly killing myself. C: It will give HUGE advantage to radarships. I can park any radarship looking into the cap, chosing a position, where surrounding islands match my radar range. That will tell me: if something passes that island and detects me, I KNOW 100% there is something in my radar range and that he can not avoid. When there is a cap, and the cap is contested but im not detected - i dont have to use my radar. I just move around a little, until the DD detects me maybe (something, you would want to avoid currently) and then I know, I can radar him 100%. The DD contesting the cap is a sitting duck, without information and no matter from what perspective you look at - the radarcruiser is chosing the time and position of engagement. At the moment, its the DD.

Cant help but ... agree with you and the others. And when I read this: I have to say - im doing the same for the last weeks. coop + operations + ranked was the only stuff I played. In our clan it looks 100% the same. So if I conclude, that some/many decent players lower their numbers players in random games, that does mean one thing: gameplay gets even worse, since the part of decent players gets lower by the day...

How do we help players like these?
ForlornSailor replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
There really are those and those. Its a little bit futile indeed, if we try to categorize bad/casual/you-name-it players. Sure, there are those, that are fine with their performance and dont want to improve, since it would change "gaming" to "work", so to say. But at the same time, there are 40%-ppl around, that actually think, they are among the best players on the server. Some misjudge their own influence, some will just blame their team for their bad stats, if they notice they have low WR, f.e. The last group really is the one, that gets me concerned or even makes me want to stop playing. The first group are actually more relaxed persons in general. They might even listen if you suggest something in chat, communicate with your, help you etc. People from group 2 are the oposite, my experiance. At the same time, that im typing this, this is happening in flamus stream: -

You quoted the wrong person tho. You should have quoted this: Then the above line would target the right person and make sense. Wrong. I reported someone via support ticket and was subject to his insults a few day later in the ingame chat. Apperently, he was restricted to play coop for 2 weeks or something like that. Also, as I showed with an earlier example in this thread, when I did research on a deep red-player on twitch: While he threw money in the game at a crazy level for a short period of time - he stopped playing the game alltogehter pretty soon. And its clear, that a player, who is in for the long run and does spend something from time to time, is actually worth more then someone, who leaves the game after playing a couple of months, even if he is spending big in this time. While I have dount that WG loves the 2nd type of people aswell - you still need an active playerbase to keep the game going and growing. And that you only achieve with people of group 1. -

You can argue about "getting something out of it". I mean he could buy a blockbuster game every day so... but where you really are wrong, is the part about keeping the game going on: Once he got the Yamato (which in his mind would have finaly made him the invincible superstar he deep-down knew he always was), he quit. The economics finaly crashed so hard on him AND the impact multiplied, making him lose even more (as you can see from the stats). So yea, this kind of thinking will ultimatly and inevitably lead to people stop playing. -

From my oberservation, the people that pay for this game make up the bigger/biggest part of the red-stat-guys. -

He used money for everything. Convert into free XP, convert into credits. There is a reason for these functions. Its really amazing, once you witness one guy flushing 20...30 euros down the drain on one evening, then he comes back the next day and does the same thing again. -

Are you saying, that F2P players = bad players the P2P = unicums? He did. I witnessed him buying Izumo B-Hull for money (as I recall he pumped 19 euro into it) and he had to pay after almost every round of Izumo, to get the ship repaired. He would buy dubloons every time he streamed. He also gifted ships to other people, so that they would join his clan and play with him. Then they usualy didnt turn up anymore after 1 or 2 days. It was actually kinda sad to watch this all, tbh. -

You think THATS bad? Ill show you the stats of the guy, that I watched some times on twitch. I even tried to interact with him in the chat. there was nobody watching anyway, so he could have easily discussed with me, without embarrising him to other viewers. But do you think he took ANY advice? He ridiculed me, saying, I have no idea what im talking about, he has played over 1000 battles and that im a newb. A few times some other people came in, telling him, he plays poor - he just banned them. On top of that, he blamed his team for each and every loss. So what do we learn from that? Trying to help these players is futile. In their own mind, they are experts. They are the best of the best and its the fault of their teammates, that they dont win 100%. -

I dont think you can generalize like this. First: You basically have to play randoms. There is no way around it to get new ships / XP etc. I mean technically you could play operations, even only with private team, grind free XP and elite xp this way to unlock all the ships without playing random but... why would you do that then? What for would you need the ships if you dont play them in random. Then about the "bad players" - I actually did some kind of research, following some of really bad players on twitch for a while. I can say in all honesty: they do not enjoy the randoms overall. But they have totaly wrong conceptions about the game. There was this one guy, thinking, he needs to go to T10 ASAP because thats the best ship. Once he has a good ship, he will perform better. And thats actually what the game puts in your head by constantly let you play against higher tier ships "yea... your Fuso is pretty nice, right? Better then the Kongo, that you had to play. But look what the Nagato is doing to you - and then there is the Amagi at the horizon...". So the reason, why they come back, is to advance faster, to get better ships so THEN they can enjoy themself... which is a flawed logic. But to be fair: havent we all been there? atleast when we were new? Who didnt look at the next ship in the tech tree, comparing it to the one you currently have. Or looked at the T10 of the line you are grinding, the ultimate goal? Exactly. And having figured that out, saying, most players are in the 40~50% range, is clearly wrong. Would be interesting to see a scale with distribution, but my guess is, most are between 48-52%. Statistically, like you say, the majority should be there. -

You have a point about random but your conclusion is wrong. First: Randoms infact range from Div 1 to all the way down. There is no alternative. What do you think are the "best of the best" aka Div 1 doing, when they want to play a game? We dont have private servers as in other games, because there is no way to earn what you need (XP/Credits and so on) in private rooms at any time I want. Things like KotS arent an alternative. They are different. Neither does anone earn XP or credits there. Things like Clanbattles arent an alternative either. They are scheduled and I have to play with my clan. Ranked isnt an alternative or anything near competetive either - like randoms, its open to all and it shows. Whats lacking is the option to gather 23 players with my skilllevel around me, throw them in one room, mix the team over and over and earn XP credits for that. IF I´d have this option - I´d never ever play one round of randoms anymore. Guarenteed. Its what I did in other gaming communites before. You just dont have the option here. -

So you dont have a problem if I teamkill you when i see you, right? This will bring joy to me. And you are a stranger, so i dont care. -
Its not like most of the forums is acting as some sort of entity, agreeing to pick on someone. If there are many people disagreeing with someones posts - there usualy is a reason for that. Also (not saying it applyies here, just in general): there is having a different opinion, then there is ignorance and then there is having a biased, unreflected view, that only reflects ones personal wet dreams. I think its safe to say, that people, that present their view and ideas in a reasonable fashion are overall met with decent replies. I can ofc only speak for myself, but thats what im aiming at.

Top tier matches don't feel like ships anymore
ForlornSailor replied to Viravandrel's topic in General Discussion
I agree. And this goes especially for high tiers. A Moskva/DM/Minotaur or even a DD makes a slight misplay? Say hello to port. BBs on midtiers dont punish mistakes with that vengance. And I also agree with what has been said about the maps. Looking at many of the high tier maps: there is only so much a vulnerable cruiser can do. Smoke for RN CLs doesnt work anymore, everyone has learnt to blindfire in the smoke by now. Take Northern Lights f.e.: We all know every cruiser (that doesnt play as a long range HE-spammer) is headding straight for the big island between B/C. Tears of the desert actually got much better with the change of spawns. Sometimes it doesnt take much work to fix bad maps, obviously. -
I wish he would have answered to that - but answering is not on his "how to behave in a forum" list.

Of all the oportunities to side with someone, who is alone in an argument you pick THIS? You side with someone, who fails the basics of discussing / communication himself? Who brings up other peoples stats in every posts he makes and complete ignores any argument anyone brings up? Whatever man...
