Well thx for uploading the replay @RAMJB I watched it. And I gotta say, it gave some nice insight. First, let me start with the most important. @RivvenDarke you REALLY dare to blame radar for that loss? Dude. It was YOU who lost that game. Ever thought why your team insulted you? They were 100% correct to call you out - you leave you flank right on spawn, so that it is without spot. - that flank collapses right away (there is absolutly no counterplay, so your team dies or runs). - You camp & hug an island spotting ZERO. - Then you rush around the corner against the BUFFALO at aprox. 2 km. let me tell you: It could have been a Helena, Fiji, any cruiser raping you there. Radar had nothing to do with it. HUGE missplay. - BTW: You have Hydro yourself. You could have spotted the enemys through the island for your team, if you already chose to be useless. About your gameplay @RAMJB - The start looks fine to me. There is Belfast and Missouri and there is not much more you can do. You spot them, so its up for your team to kill them. I would have done the same. Which they actually do, after some time (well, they drive the Belfast away, which is good too). By the time you have an advantage on your side - 4 or 5 enemys are already in the base. Thx to RivvenDarke. I felt you could have used your guns against the Yugumo, since the situation was already pretty dire. The NC running off didnt help. Game could have actually be won, if he would have helped to defend. But one thing I gotta say: dont be so negative in the start. It makes people play bad, everyone runs his mouth and insults each other. You can actually see it developing. When something like this goes on at the start, I actually try to motivate / put a positive infulence on the chat. I mean: you cant change the matchmaking at that point. Might aswell try the best. Ive had games against OMNI divisions, where people went "oh nice, OMNI, we lost, I go afk" and stuff like that. Sure you gonna lose if you dont try? So instead of prove me right - prove me wrong. By talking to those people, I actually managed to turn those games into wins quite a few times. This game was winable aswell, even with 4 vs 0 radars. Atlanta never had anything in radar range. An Atlanta, that is pushing like that in the open, usualy had anything in radar range. The most dangerous radarship, imo, from what I observed, was actually on your side: the Missouri. The Belfast ran off and didnt even radar you, when he had the chance. Didnt look like a dangerous player to me. But yea, I´d not blame that loss on you.The Jutland not spotting and the very bad decision from the NC are the game deciders if you ask me.

Yea, the easiest solutions are often the best solutions... no need to make things complicated.

Rusty_9 understood the point, and thx . @Hugh_Ruka i guess you didnt really gasp the situation. Me beeing shot at wasnt a problem nor a surprise. I knew I will be spotted going out there, thats why i positioned myself bow-in in the first place. It wasnt the DD spotting me (makes sense, since I had no LoS, right?) and a Cruiser + a BB dont have the chance to hunt down the DD. Our other DD was nowhere near spot him either, but his Radio pointed into the direction. Only in combination with the information from me cruiser behind the island, that he was spotted, could I estimate a position. So idk, but most of your post is missing the point. Maybe I should upload the replay to make it more clear. We already know about that game ;)

Map reticule - Nice unless you are a smoke cruiser, or hiding in a storm
ForlornSailor replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
True. Neptune is in a horrible position nowadays, thats why I argue for a buff for her. -
I had the exact same thing once before. Support couldnt / didnt help me, only pointing at my end (yea right). Nothing will help. Its server side. My problem fixed itself after 2 or 3 days so good luck waiting...

I have to tell you: you are barking on the wrong tree. Ive been active in the discussion around CVs for a long time and thus noticed @El2aZeR ofc, since he is too. He is one of the most objective people when it comes to CVs and absolutly does not defend CVs at all costs to keep his toy. Why would be argue against AP Bombs then? Just one example. In general: looking at someones statistics to make his point invalid is a stupid thing to do. And here is why: A) you find very good statistics - "oh you are just defending your precious OP toy" B) you find bad/avarage statistics "oh you just dont know how to play that ship. git gut & l2p, problem is on your end" See. You can shut down any discussion / any person by looking at his stats, because you will find either of it. Not a valid tactic in a discussion, my PoV.

Map reticule - Nice unless you are a smoke cruiser, or hiding in a storm
ForlornSailor replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
Anyway: one good point was brought up - poeple shooting into smoke has increased massivly during the last 2-3 months. I noticed exact the same thing. It was almost an overnight thing. Before, only the best players did it, now, you kinda have to expect everyone to do it. I´d like to have the answer to that myself. Is it really the "X marks the spot?" Our playerbase isnt good in using the minimap anway, we all know that, thats why I doubt it. But something happend. Are there so many people out there, watching twitch/youtube, that they got the clues from there? Might be? Just mention the name "flamu" in chat in any round, and you´ll usualy get a response. -
Same as @Episparh. Even more extreme, I pretty much keep all ships. I sold the Iron Duke, because I have 2 premiums on T5 that are much better and when I want to play a low tier HE BB, Ill pick Orion. Other than that... I cant remember which ship of T5 I sold?

Map reticule - Nice unless you are a smoke cruiser, or hiding in a storm
ForlornSailor replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
Playing a smoke cruiser has gotten a lot harder over the last year, the marker did its part. But people also learnd to shoot, when they see your gun firing. And yes, it is next to impossible not to get spotted the entire match, atleast if you try to get the full potential out of ships like Neptune and Minotaur. My conclusion has been: In the current meta, T9/T10 RN CLs with smoke are not the best option anymore. Pick radar and play them like a Worcester - camp island, use radar to block caps. -
Yea ofc! you didnt knew? Everything that he says or does, can and will be used against you ! You have the right to remain silent or call a lawyer! So what are you saying? Ban good players from Random? Ban all divisions? Then there literally is no place to play with your friends together anymore in this game. Might aswell shut down the servers right away, easier. And I think flamu bitches WAY WAY WAAAAY more about players, that are obviously sleeping with their face on the keyboard, tbh.

Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
ForlornSailor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
This is a joke, right? Can someone help me? This guy is trolling or completly illiterate? Dude. Stop posting. You are making a laughing stock out of yourself! But want to make a bet? my 17,2 > the mentioned 20. - 500 Euro. we both pay to the account of a trustee. The one who is right, gets it all. ok? -

omg this is pure commedy gold. Just to make it even more clear: You post this - yourself - and tell me im mixing comissioning with active service. ouch. brain hurts now. -

lol. goes nuts himself (in the very same sentence even) and tells someone, who posts only facts to keep it civil. You are WRONG dude, simple as that. Even in a sentence as short as this, you post lies again. 118 came into active service. Cant you read? Cant you understand? what is your problem. Just FYI: contracted were 267 . You know what? Use google-translator on this one: Whats next? Are you going to argue with me, if earth is flat? Or if Santa Claus exists and comes through your chimney? -
hackers and things that do not go well at all in the game

... I strongly adivce everyone to stay away from that link, let alone try out whatever software there is offered. Cheats for MMOs often contain keyloggers, so that the creators can take over your account! -
Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
ForlornSailor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
How can someone deliberately go and make himself look so stupid? tell me why you do this to yourself? On top of that, you are now contraditing your own, innitial statement, which was: You already admitted yourself, that they infact went to sea. And if only 2 of them - U-2511 and U-3008 - went to sea, how did these things happen? btw - just to add injury to insult: 118 Type XXI submarines were commissioned between June 1944 and May 1945 thus placed in active service. You want me to quote all commision dates of each of them? Post all crew lists? How thick can one person be. -
And thats how statistics can be misleading or can be used to prove almost any point of view. Its the same about games with 5 BBs or 5 DDs. They are not that much fun. The absolut best (/s) are games, where you are the only cruiser with 5 BBs, 5 DDs and a CV around. Oh the joy. And looking at the chat often tells you - nobody has fun. How does this reflect in stats? It doesnt. Well. Often you CAN work around it. Something Ive observed in wows is the following: Most players actually do have an idea / a plan when they start a round. But they will not change from this, no matter what happens. As if they want to push their head through a wall. That goes for all classes. Its not often, that you see players relocate, because they understood "hey, THIS just doesnt work out at the moment". Most of the time they try and try and try until they eventually die without having acheived anything. Its not only about pushing constantly into a position, that is covered by radar, but also trying to go 2 vs 4 or similar. But on my innitial statement: I feel this is particular a problem of US CL radar. It combines long lasting radar with high RoF. I also dont know, why WG thought, that is a good combination. Ive played divis with Moskva/Stalingrad and we couldnt stop 2 DDs from taking the cap right before our eyes. We just didnt have the RoF and the relativly short radar gives relativly long phases without radar. We obviously had smart opponents (they actually were good players, known clan), that knew, when and how long our radar is on CD. Im pretty sure, if only one of us would have been a Worcester, it would have turned out differently. And yea, that would have been wrong imo. Also, we could do this only to one of the three caps. But anyway, my position is pretty clear on this. US CLs need the radar duration cut drastically. It might even be better to remove radar from them. Then radar would be the gimmick of the US CAs, would make up for a difference between the 2 lines. I dont understand how WG can say "we are looking into radar" but at the same time slap radar on every new ship and in versions much stronger then ever seen before. Someone can explain this logic?

Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
ForlornSailor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
No. actually YOU have no idea what it means. Further discussing is useless. You even ignored the pictures. There are thousands out there btw. But yea, why try to educate yourself when you can stomp ya feet and look like a uneducated hillbilly. much more fun in that, I agree. So continue. Its cool. we are having fun. Back to topic tho. Absolutly not. Its the combination of map, mapsize, speed and gunrange and torpedorange, that defines the power of concealment. It becomes clear, when you scale the concealment values, which would, according to you, make no difference, as long as we keep the current scale. Would it be the same if a DD has 10km concealment while a Cruiser has 18km and a BB has 25km? Or how about DDs with 2 km concealment, cruisers get 6 km and BBs 10 km. Its completly different. Its even clear, when you look at certain DDs. Look at DDs like Isokaze. Huge difference if it has CE or not. With Ce it can very comfortly stealthtorp. Removing CE and putting the concealment to the current default value would be a HUGE DD-nerf, especially for the torpedoboats. And they dont need that at all. See @AnotherDuck im not the DD-hater you thought I am So: reading the innital point I actually agree. The skill is so mandatory, that you usualy must/want to have it. Therefor, new players with low captains are getting shafted. Remove it and lower the base concealment of every ship (well, might exclude BBs tbfh) to the level of what they would have with CE. -
Premium Orion? I like what I hear Oh yea - russian BBs. Not for the ships itself. But for the party in the forums. I cant wait for that to happen. Gonna have to stock up on popcorn.

Most likely nothing. I brought the imbalance of mm concerning radars up already long ago, but WG didnt saw a problem there - they actually said in one Q&A, that statistics showed, it has no impact on which team wins. Then again, theyve also said that about games, where one side has more DDs. Its a shame they cant implement such small changes that would give both teams the same starting conditions. But I can see, why WG prolly doesnt even lie, when they say this about the stats. Ive been in games, where my team has 4 vs 1 radar, but they were all hiding in our spawn beeing absolutly useless and getting oneshotted cuz DM is best when at 17km to a Yamato - with full broadside. So such poor performance will level the statstics. Again - a shame, they dont take a closer look and try to understand what CAN happen and what actually DOES happen from time to time. On top of that: US radar lasts too long. With them it really becomes possible to create no-go-zones, if they pile up at one position. If your team then fails to bring any decent counterplay to the table - you lose. Simple as that. Then again I still give those guys credits for get in the right position and play smart. Its often a team thing. If you have a majority of players, that dont understand how to push radar cruisers out of their position, to shoot at enemy DDs when they are detected, to support their own teammates, while the enemys do exactly this ... that has all the marks of a losingteam aswell. Played one game today Moskva. Was very close. In the deciding phase of the game, I was bow-tanking 6 enemys (thx WG for the 50mm bow and thx enemys, that you didnt understood to shoot HE at me) and my DD in combination with my divi Cruiser had pretty much located the enemy DD (who was VERY smart btw). With them pinging the map, I was able to estimate, that I MIGHT be in radar range. With one of the biggest islands in the game between me and the enemy DD. I took the risk, trusted them, hammered radar - boom 11.2 km. He goes down. That is actual teamplay at its best. So yeah, tell me again how LoS-Radar INCREASES teamplay, current radar is anti-teamplay and radarcruisers camp behind island cuz they are hiding Edit.

118 were in service with KM. The first was U-2501, went into service 27. June 1944... Here is a picture of U-2502 attacked by a De Havilland Mosquito FB on high seas. U-2511, another Type XXI and a Type XXIII in Bergen/Norway U-2503 after beein damaged near the danish coast in 1945 not true / irrelevant for wows irrelevant for wows / true for many classes ships - f.e. DDs. irrelevant for wows / untrue for some classes. U 977 /Type VIIC spend 66 days submerged without surfacing onces. U 978 (also Type VIIC) spend 68 days under water without surfacing once. -

Type XXI. 17,2 knots. US Submarines sank 8 IJN CVs alone in WWII. The SN sank some of the biggest vessels in WWII. Wut? Every sub in WWII, that was designed for highseas, reached this lenght. SN, KM, USN - US Subs were ~100m long.... You dont know how to use Wikipedia? Why would we need to do the reserch for you? Just cuz you close your eyes or want to ignore the truth, doesnt change history....pathetic. Can you like do your research first before you attack other forumites? Here is a hint: Save yourself the time of making such long posts and rather use it to educate yourself. We live in the time, were education is accessable and free to all. -

Thanks for the help, much appreciated! And yea, it can be so easy when you have just one more guy playing for the objective and not inhaling gluefumes. Thats was our round - I didnt even got that much damage. The round before that, without you however... We did the same thing: Dfens spoting, I took care of killing Rasputin. Had to actually kill more ships in the harbour, since nobody killed anything. And we didnt manage to spot the guns, the entire north (where you went in our round) was dark... 4 star -
Not sure what game you are playing but it sure isnt World of Warships. And why would a DD need to tell the cruiser that the cap is contested? I think you lack basics knowledge about the game mechanics. But what are you going to do? Change the global spotting mechanics to Los? I mean im up for discussing it, to be fair, I dont have an opinion right now about it, since I never thought all pros and cons through. One thing comes to mind: If spotting is still tied to gunbloom, then having a long range comes at a disadvantage. Especially for cruisers. Id just play Leander with stock gunrange - 12 km - and shredd all DDs I guess?
