Japanese Destroyer Captain -. Rookie Player
ForlornSailor replied to Lea_Flamma's topic in General Discussion
Its a good idea anyway, to not rush through the techtree as fast as possible, as a new player. One reason is the economy. You´ll get by easier, when you gather yourself some credit. Everything gets more expensive, the higher you get: modules, mantainance... -

I never understood the logic in that. When I checked the line rigth after they split it, I seriously thought: "they must have mixed those up, guess it will be fixed soon". Well... -
CV rework new gameplay: what about low AA ships?
ForlornSailor replied to LDPDC's topic in General Discussion
What else is new, right? Yea - any suggestions? I had tons of ideas, as had others, how to balance the current CVs. But here? Pff. Dont ask me. There is only "stupidly overpowered damage farmer" or "useless plane simulator". Yea, you could limit the possible striked to one, then have the planes fly back, reload and then start again (like it currently is), but how boring and ineffective would that make them? Remove DoT completly for CVs? Its simple - it wont. How could it? The teamplay mechanics of your CV are gone pretty much - fighting enemy planes, provide spotting. All thats left, is farming damage without beeing interrupted. Ask the early players of the game about something called "CV truce". https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/66357-concerning-cv-trucesno-kill-agreements/ Isnt WG basically in violation of their own fair play agreement? Ill ask again: Any ideas? You cant put this live and let it go on for 6 months. You think i´d let my DD get r***** for 6 months over and over again ~50 sec in the game? Why the would I keep playing this game? And if it really plays out like it currently is, there will be a huge number of people playing CVs (atleast WG will succeed with that goal then), looking for easy damage. Weather they succeed or not, is another question. But since WG wants up to 3 CVs per game - which would lower the other ships automatically to 9 - there will be enough rounds, where you will be nothing but a XP-Pinata. -

This is maybe the single most important gameplay advice for new DD-captains! Whenever you decide to smoke up, make sure, you dont lose spotting on any enemy ships! If you smoke up and notice, red ships are dissapearing - you are doing something wrong. At the very same moment, there will be 4...11 players in your team, cursing at you. Those moments, that happen a lot, your smoke is actually in favour of the enemys - you are helping them and hurting your team. Correct use of smokescreen is maybe the one thing, that impacts Winrate of DD-players the most. -
WG can you please lower the xp reward for last 4 players

So you want to give them MORE XP then they do right now? -
CV rework new gameplay: what about low AA ships?
ForlornSailor replied to LDPDC's topic in General Discussion
Yes. This is the logical conclusion. CVs after rework have no other job anymore, then to farm damage. If AA would be so strong, that it could shut down a CV (like it is now), CVs would have nothing. So it wont happen. We are all doomed, lets face it. Im enjoying my DDs right now, after the BB AP change they have the time of their life. Its like the last supper before DDs will be crucified by the CV-rework. -

Yea, they sometimes do, because they dont know how the game mechanics work / have changed. General advice: ignore BBs that ask for a smoke. They will fore their guns and will be detected anway. This wasnt the case for a long time, but it is nowadays. IF you want to give your smoke to your teammates, give it cruisers, and only the smaller ones. Also, japanese smoke is not the best for smoking up teammates, that would be the US DD smoke. You should concoder keeping your smokescreens for yourself, as a devensive tool, when some other DD is rushing you, since IJN DDs (with the exeption of the later gunboats) often lose the gunfight against other DDs. So, Superintendent is a good pick for US DDs f.e. (I run it myself there) but I dont run it on my IJN DD. There, you first go survivability expert and when you have more then 10 points and want to pick another 3-point-skill, you´d take Torpedo Armament Expertise. -
Infact, for most ships, HE and AP damage can be recovered to 50%. There is in general no difference between HE and AP. http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Consumables#Repair_Party

That thread turned out better then expected. Ok, ill jump in. I agree - the ammunition choice should absolutly be influenced by how the team is put together. Like I sometimes spam HE on the start with my BBs, when there is a CV in my game. Skin off the AA from enemy ships early is more useful then getting a few k pen damage, I think. Also, when you notice, everything around you shooting HE - you might aswell join. DoT can be much more dangerous then a few good AP salvos. Especially, when you got a CV or a huge numbers of DDs around, that can profit with floodings. IMO - this is neglected by a huge part of the playerbase, because teamplay in general is not very strong. Whenever you bring this up in a dicsussion, usualy someone comes with the smart answer "Fire damage is 100% reparable".

Why would anyone ever play high tier CVs?
ForlornSailor replied to CptMinia's topic in General Discussion
You know what? I´d WISH you were right! Because then we wouldnt have the current problems with the class. If all CV-Players would be super unicums and going at each other, far less people would complain about CVs. Also, the unicum Kaga from yesterday with his Atlanta Buddy, that I completly shut down with my Benson, will disagree with you aswell, I guess? He clearly was happy with his result... 2100 damage (my divisionmate checked his stats after the round, he played only 1x Kaga on the day). So, if people like you would spent only half of the time, that they use to write complain-posts here in the forums, to learn how to play against CVs - there wouldnt be a problem either. But who knows if WG wouldnt redesign CVs either way? consoles n such. -
Same here You can ofc use the coupon to lower the amount of steel needed. In combination with the missions, that can be bought, you should be able to get atleast the flint.

Bogus amounts of ship XP
ForlornSailor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
I was just typing, then forum showed a reply, and I saw, @Allied_Winter beat me to it. Thats the correct & exact answer you are looking for, OP. -
~16 min = ~1,6 mil credits, so 100 minutes playing time for 200 steel.. sounds like a good deal imo.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

This stuff really happen? Didnt happen so far over here. Id love to have some guy coming to me, complaining about one of my guys (well, now its not going to happen anymore, since im just a regular member in NWP). -
Just cuz you say so, doesnt make it the truth. A) I wasnt, so you obviously didnt read porperly or have a problem in reading-comprehension B) You also obviously have a problem reading the stats, again, the fault is on your end. C) a l2p comment to someone who manages 75% in Neptune. I loled. Guess you have a long way to go then. Need any help? No stop posting if you aint got nothing to say to the subject.

Interesting opinion since I was one of the few, that actually brought arguments, stats, facts to the table. Hint for you: stats do not show the current performance, but the overall. Also, you generalize, when I was talking about one specific ship. Way to build an argument right there. Want to try again?
-
So... what should it be then? BB? DD? CV?
-
Well, then im in before "STALINGRAD HAS BEEN SECRETLY NERFED" threads.
-
Exactly. So I dont understand why you get all defensive? Nobody said, YOU are useless or YOU were a burden to your team. Gotta be honest: In Operations, its DDs that attract the higher percentage of bad players. Or the bad BB players, as mentioned before, can still have a more positive impact on the game as the bad DD players have. Games with 1 BB and 20 DD would be absolutly stupid and highly unfun... for everyone. And we are not playing "historica fleet simulator" anyway.

Extra commander skills after the "essentials" have been boungt: many low level versus fewer high level extra skills?
ForlornSailor replied to Praevasc's topic in General Discussion
This depends really on which cruiser you play. Some IJN like Atago/Takao get their rudder damaged all the time. Its actually so annoying, that I played with the idea to take LS for the Takao captain. Then you have ships like Chapa or Donskoj, that hardly ever get damage to their rudder or engine. Moskva is different in that sense, that it usualy always looses the engine, when getting a cita-hit. But then again: you need to avoid that at all cost in Moskva. Id agree with the earlier answers and your observation: For the french line, you should go CE and not IFHE. Starting T7, where IFHE starts to shine, the french get 203mm, so they dont need IFHE anymore. I did go IFHE first on russian line with the Budyonny and got CE with 14 points then. My La Gal however got CE when reaching 10 points. -
Nice work ! So the rework is actually smaller then thought. Maybe the pressure of the second wave feels heavier now, because the Furutaka is moving pretty fast ahead, while before there was only the CV, that stayed in the back? The Furutaka overtakes the 2 BBs and is right behind the 2 DDs. In the first round after the rework, that I played, I died exactly to that Furutaka and one of the DDs made it in the harbour. Maybe I wasnt used to having the additional danger of a CA around, played too much like I was used to and on top of that had a bad team.

Just had Mr. @ZoidFile in my team in Co-op. Funny, that we both ended with the same base XP - I lol´d about "Heidi has a bad day" -
Well, atleast we now know, hold old you are, since you obviously still have a teacher. and you need it. But I dont think, that the time you spent with this game and forum (+ the time on your fake-account) allows you to go school or do something else... ... but thanks for making me laugh hard. ergo: You post this yourself, yet you fail to understand the meaning of it. You still think, you are right, telling me OP did NOT talk about Neptune but instead talked about Leander. Doesnt your foot already hurt from keep shooting init? Incredible how this thread attracts people like you I wont even go so far, in showing in detail, how YOU are the one incapable of having a discussion, because quite frankly, its so obvious, i cant be bothered. ....convince me to stop talking to you, yes. Most of my post was about the topic, so I tried to gave you a chance to join back to the discussion. You didnt. btw: I didnt read you non-sense, just flew over it, to see if you even want to take part in the discussion. Its clear now: you dont want to. Defintion of a ...? Enough with the people incapable of discussing, back to the guys worth talking to. Yea, I agree, its also what Ive been asking for a couple of months now. Since you picked up Neptune only recently, you havent experianced how awesome that ship was before, a shame :/ It was love from the first game for me. btw: I think, your stats in Neptune are ok, since you played most of the games solo. ATM - it has not much carry potential, unlike before or unlike ships like Fiji. True. Its doesnt happen that often tho. I can recall exactly one occasion, where I can say, the DD tanked with purpose, the other times, the DDs happened to be in the right angle due to luck. Havent met that many Minos in CB this season. Right now can recall 2, one of them was radar the other smoke. Granted, no unicum clans. Cruiser favourites seem to be Stalingrad - Zao - Des Moines. Henri is already rarer, Hindenburg and Moskva even more down the line. Are there stats for ships played in CB somewhere accessable? I agree. Also, these days there are like 5...8 ships per game around, that can devasted your Mino/Neptune across the map, so angeling is just impossible. If anything, its all about positioning. And then again: make one mistake, and you pay so heavy, you wont recover. You know what idea just came up? Since WG kinda opened the Pandoras Box possibility to limit damage per shell artificially - maybe Neptune / Mino should have their citadel-damage cut by 50%? (value up for discussion, just throwing something out there. Maybe reduced to 66% makes more sense). It would still only need 5...7 citas from a BB to send you to port, which isnt unheard of, when you totaly screw up as a RN CL.
