Brainstorm session: How to increase the skill level of the playerbase
ForlornSailor replied to Linkaex's topic in General Discussion
Its even worse on the stats-pages. All the damage done is thrown into one big pile and it makes up for 70% of the PR. Killed 3 DDs? man, you are at best avarage with your 30k damage. Spammed 16 mins HE with your Kurfürst from the border? 150k damage, of which 95k got repaired? You are THE MAN! Super Unicum! As @Praevasc said - these people get all the feedback they need, to think, they are awesome. They get tons of credits, tons of XP, if they bother to check their stats, they think they are super-unicum ONLY the wins are missing. Conclusion? I always get the bad teammates. right. Yea, thats true. On top of that: I didnt log in anmore on that account, and meanwhile, it has gathered 7 days of premium, a Warspite and some gift, which I didnt bother to check out. (came with 2 seperate mails from WG). So WG is actually making it harder to get a decent skill level in the playerbase. Not interested in the game anymore? Didnt bother to play past T1? Well, here is a shiny T6 premium BB for you, maybe you like it more. It does make sense from a business point of view tho. Those two things do colide quite often, sadly. On topic: I think its in all our interest, to improve the overall skill-level of the playerbase. But it might not be in the interest of WG. Players, that need to constantly spend money, because they cant deal with the economic pressure are just too valuable for them. Maybe its one of the reasons, we do not have tutorials and all that. Lets face it: Creating tutorials isnt that hard, It wouldnt take over 3 years nor is the idea unheard of - millions of other games use this concept. So what are we left with? Helping the players that want to improve (although its only a small part of the playerbase). I sometimes try to help people ingame out, when I see huge mistakes. Sometimes it works, more often you get told to "stfu", sadly. It doesnt stop me from trying to help the next guy tho.- 61 replies

Battleship against Cruiser or Destroyer
ForlornSailor replied to Luisjes_Pluisjes's topic in General Discussion
You know what - OPs fantasy doesnt work from any angle. We might aswell tell him, what would happen, if his "reality idea" goes through, it would be something like this: If BB became so powerful, that it can stomp on every class and they could do nothing - nobody, especially the good players, would play DDs or Cruisers or CVs anymore. So it would be World of BBs, 12vs12 BBs fighting each other. You know what? THATS when the real problem starts for players like @Luisjes_Pluisjes ! So better think about what you wish for... -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
ForlornSailor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Here you go. I think you have been influenced by reading too many of @El2aZeR´s posts or where do you get these ideas? My best round of the day is at the same time the worst round of the day. A xenophobic, teamkilling, spamming Graf Spee ruining everyones day. His sole purpose was to make our team lose and the longer it went on, and the more it became clear, he wont suceed, the harder he tried. Shooting his teams only DD (me) and torping the CV of our team. Its a shame - I died to a fire from the CVs bomb, only because i got shot at from that Graf Spee earlier. Replay incoming MrConway, this guy needs a timeout. -
11,2 sounds more like Atlanta / Flint. ^^

Optimal build and ship for John Doe is what again?
ForlornSailor replied to The_Finnster's topic in General Discussion
John Doe is a super captain for all the higher tier US ships. Have him also on Missouri. At the same time, using him on Salem, Indianapolis and currently New Mexico (somewhat grinding the line^^). Meh IMO its not. It is really debatable if there is a true gain in that anyway small buff. Going for a survivability build, especially in these days with the Meta, is much more stronger. If you are using FP and BoS, like @wilkatis_LV does, you can pretty much laugh about HE-spammers. But it depends a lot on your playstyle and the BB. IJN like Musashi - Yamato: im going full survivability. RN BB however - AR is nice. They have the concealment and when you spam HE, those extra seconds can convert into nice DoT. But yea, there is no right or wrong here. Personal preference. -
Since in wows health is calculated by tonnage - can you image the health pool? Oh man, that would be a juicy target. But on the other hand: would it be immune to fire OR extremly vulnerable? Pff. Then they suffer from bad matchmaking all the time. Hello, you forgot T8 MM? There is only one reasonable solution. Oh yes, you know it. Yamato to T5 (nah still bad matchmaking tbh) Yamato to T4!

42% fire chance, 38 hits and only 3 fires
ForlornSailor replied to Giorgio_marksman's topic in General Discussion
Good example how hidden multipliers mislead people in this game... Just curious: do you really think, starting 1 fire for ~2 hits would be anywhere near balanced? @Giorgio_marksman? Dont you think, it sounds kinda stupid? Nobody would use AP if that would be the way it works... -

Brainstorming about the hordes of new 35% winrate high tier players
ForlornSailor replied to Praevasc's topic in General Discussion
Holy . Thats not even funny anymore. Yea, that was an Asashio and a Tirpitz. Genius idea they had. I wonder if the Turdpitz is still trying to figure out, why at some point he got shot at and then torped to death? And if he ever figures out what could have possible gone wrong there? Well, I guess he is doing the WG-tactic: "need more data" -

ForlornSailor replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Why? WHY? Why do you reverse from that 3-sec-rule? Where is the explanation for that? Why you keep changing such vital elements of the game back and forth? Why do you reverse it, when the community took it positive and obviously thought, it was a good change? I dont understand these kind of decisions? Can you give us any details, why this has been done, because I cant figure it out? @MrConway @Crysantos please? -
Has anyone noticed changes to GK?
ForlornSailor replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
Can it get any bettererer? I´d say, the meta right now is not easy for high tier BBs. Currently, a lot of people play CVs and especially german BBs are the prime target of AP Bombers. Also, it puts more stress on your DCP-management. On top of that, we have still somewhat new ships like Harugumo and Worcester (the absolute rush has passed tho), which can burn you bad, thats is true. Then the BB-AP-nerf against DDs... Personally, Id say, its not the best time to start with the Kurfürst. -
Upcoming AA rework (= removal)
ForlornSailor replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Thats the point exactly. If I fight something, that has unlimited resources, the only way I can force a stalemate, is, if I can deny his damage dealing capability. completly. It doesnt help if I shoot down 50% of the planes during his 4 strikes. It actually doesnt even matter if I shoot down 100% of the planes while he still manages to get 3 or 4 drops on me. In both scenarions its the cruiser, that loses. Right now, there is sense in shooting down planes. Every plane, the CV loses, takes one out of his limited reserves. The CV Player needs to concider his moves, concinder the risks. Rework? Eff that. I got new planes in < 60 sec. Why should anyone put efford in shooting down planes when they will return either way? Matter of fact: why should I put myself willingly into such a situation? Thats not a game for me. I will simply not play. If I want to be tortured with fighting a useless task, Ill go forking leaves of trees in my garden during a hurricane. There is more sense in that. -

ForlornSailor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
New year, same old crap I guess . I was furious at that CV. Look the screen: he has 4 plane kills. FOUR. Must have been bombers killing something on the way. He did nothing. The enemy CV first focused on spotting me, then on the Haru, who played awesome (and was swearing at our CV aswell). Shot before the end, when we needed points because we were behind, our CV let the Grozovoi espace with 550 Health and when I desperatly tried to convince him to spot the Grozo (we had 3 ships shooting the DD) he said "lol learn to play, I did awesome). I think he got 5 reports, prolly even more. We would have actually lost the game without that lucky kill, I realised later I watched that unfolding from 15 km away, despirately trying to hit the Aka. How the F*** could he missplay like that? He had full HP and you were alone. All he had to do, was drive his boat to your broadside and boom. Meanwhile I got rushed from Seattle and Kron in the center, they both were at 8~9 km to me, so I thought "well, Radar is coming....now...any second...wut?" nothing happend. Both then gave broadside and let themselfes get killed. I have no idea how the enemys threw that one. Best round for me was actually the Benson-game. First I thought, its going to get hard fighting for the cap: Kagero on my side and the Indianapolis pushing. Luckily, the Kagero didnt ran Concealment Module (??!?) and killed himself instantly + the Indianapolis got baited & torped by me and then blabbed from @DFens_666 before he could deal any damage. Rushing the almost full HP Gneisenau was the icing on the cake. Should send that part as a short video to the Aka, that failed to torp you in the Missouri^^. -
Thats whats astounds me the most. I mean, lets leave aside what we personally think about the rework for a moment. I see mostly negative comments about the rework. Yes, there are some people with a positive opinion. But you cant overlook, that a part of them are absolute haters of current CV, and their joy about the rework comes from the fact, that players, that enjoy the RTS-CVs and are good at it, will lose their game. Thats doesnt count as a positive opinion about the rework, its really only spite. Then there was the poll for people, taking part in the testing, which showed something like 35% of the people had a positive opinion about it. So WG says, testing environment doesnt count, its not real. So why ask people? Would you have said the same, if the poll were showing 75% positive people? No, you wouldnt have. And the best part was in the latest new years video "Thanks for all the positive feedback, it shows us, we are on the right track." I dont know. Where are these channels with mostly positive feedback? Its not the forums. Maybe facebook is full of it? I cant say, I dont follow it, but I would be surprised if it drew a different picture there.

ForlornSailor replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
How could you forget the spawn of satan, the source of all evil : HE sucks teh most !!11 -
You are probably right about the alpha-damage. But we need to concider 2 things: - While the CV is attacking a DD, he is also spotting it. Thus other ships can shoot the DD. - How shall I secure an objective? The new CVs - atleast the high tier ones - can cycle planes faster and bring them back over me then I can cap. If WG suceeds with their plan, which is not only having 1 CV per side in each game but 2 or 3, every DD will have its own privat CV above him. Its like trying to eat a sweet cake right under a wasp nest in the middle of summer. So we can argue who is effed more but at the end - does it really matter? Looks shitty for all classes.

Prt. 3: Solution to WoWs Game Play: Unicums and The Pareto Principle.
ForlornSailor replied to davidsturm6597's topic in General Discussion
I second that. There is hardly a T10 game without some real numb nuts. I like the T6~T8 range, since its seems like it has on avarage the most balanced playerbase. Lower tier you have the occasional completly new player (cant blame them, we all started somewhere) and at the other end the 3-man-divison with full stacked ships and 19 point captains, pushing their stats, which can make some games really imba.- 76 replies
