stalingrad armour bug? ( back turrets)
ForlornSailor replied to Flavio1997's topic in General Discussion
They were all entirely different ships/projects. Moskva project 66, Kronshtadt project 69 and Stalingrad project 82. They are projected ingame the way they have been / were planned / partially build in reality.- 29 replies

Testing Kronshtadt on the test server.
ForlornSailor replied to Chill82's topic in General Discussion
Keep in mind, that the Kron will be removed next week with the 0.8.0 patch. So its you last chance to grab it. 750k free XP is not that hard to grind, if you got the right signals & camos + play the right gamemode *coughoperationscough* -
IJN Torpedoes are still way too detectable.
ForlornSailor replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
... and now tell that to the people, that screw themself with their shimas against those DDs on a daily basis . Or also to those guys in cruisers & BBs, that dont shoot red DDs once they are spotted. If that doesnt happen, all spotting advantage a DD has over his oponent is useless. -
IJN Torpedoes are still way too detectable.
ForlornSailor replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
I dont think a buff for the torpedos will have the right effect. My view is this: WG introduced more and more gunboat-DDs, or so to say, Anti-DD DDs. Those all overpower the Shima in a gunfight. If that happens, and the Shima dies early, it has the following effects: - Shimas damage output sinks, since it usualy deals its damage constantly through the game with its torps. Short round: no damage - The team with the dead Shima loses its spotting, which always leads to more losses. That would explain the decreasing damage and winrate. So I think WG is on the right path, when they buffed the Alpha on the guns. If that was enough... idk. Fighting RN DDs / german DDs with an IJN torp DD is heavy on all tiers. Then again: those DDs are build to counter me. I cant outgun them and I usualy cant hit them with torps since they run Hydro. Maybe it was a mistake to introduce so many DDs with Hydro and high DPM. Overall, I dont think there is anything wrong with the torps of Shima either. One problem is the 20 km torp option and some/many people dont know how to use them. They arent really meant to hit stuff und especially not targets at 15+ km. They are an area denial weapon. But maybe its just time to remove them. -
So when he pulled his best game now, when the guns supposedly are derping so hard, that you cant hit anything... then... how does this fit together? Shouldnt he be underperforming? Not sure how you can dismiss his opinion based on that screen. Its actually easier to build the claim, that Missouri got secretly buffed due to his recent results. I dont play Missouri anymore as much as I used to, but I did play her a couple of times in the last weeks. Results fell exactly within my avarage. Well. 1k short in avg damage. I hope this is not enough to feed anyones suspicions...

Help Me Decide! - Bismarck or Amagi
ForlornSailor replied to HappyFella's topic in General Discussion
Well. Amagi / Bismarck need to be played very different so i feel the discussion about who is better is a little ... futile? Bismarck needs to be aggressive. Amagi is accurate even on long range. Although Bismarck has Hydro, it takes huge damage in the large superstructure in return. So it comes down to the player and how he uses the tools he has been given. Thats why its almost impossible to answer the question of OP? Me, personally, I think the Amagi is stronger in the current Meta. I can explain. T8 sees T10 a lot. So you meet a lot of ships with high RoF and high fire chance. On top of that, high tier games are pretty campy. And then we are at a DD-high right now, since BB AP got nerfed. You see a lot of DDs successfully rushing BBs. Bis´ secondaries might help, but you´d need to skill for them and then you give up survivability-build (see above problem with HE-spam). Amagis more carefull approach, the accurate guns with bigger caliber are advantages here. In a T6 game tho I think I´d prefer Bismarck. -
Fun fact: The spelling and wording reminded me of someone, who raged at me and the entire team some time ago. I was thinking, its highly unlikely, that two different persons will use the exact same expression with the exact same, super weird typo "ply LEGO m*****". So I cross checked with @NothingButTheRain - confirmed. Same dude. Some absolut useless, flaming, aggressive, stupid guy. Also I find it interesting, that you chose to side with someone, who you dont know and you dont know any of the circumstances that lead to the insult. From over here, it rather looks like, you have a personal grunge against NBTR and saw a chance to leash out at him...?

t8 MM: When will this be fixed???
ForlornSailor replied to Besserwisser3000's topic in General Discussion
Man, I literally gave you a link, that shows how ships are distributed over each Tier in the last 2 weeks. From that link, you can see, that the scale is T7 <<<< T8 <<<<< T9 <<<<< T10 which is the logical explanation for the matches, we see. So dont say nobody showed you hard evidence. -
DD can behind land mass right now. Even better: I get perfect information when the radar ship used his radar and when its over. With LoS: I will never know.

t8 MM: When will this be fixed???
ForlornSailor replied to Besserwisser3000's topic in General Discussion
So... if T10 die so fast - why is there a problem playing against them? So then there are 30 T8s (50 - 20) left for the next match and 246 T10 (250-4). Oh no wait. More players have entered the queue. Now we are at 80 T8s (30+50 new) and 496 T10s (246+250 news) Now what? Did you read the other replies in the topic? ill hint you: read @Allied_Winter, @10ThousandThings and @DFens_666. They told exactly why this is isnt viable, what other problems come with it and that WG has indeed tested this already and it it didnt work. Yep. I dont know whats to argue here either. This topic comes up every week and every week people like me (was my turn this week, next week im off, so you can try again and hear the same answers from someone else. Maybe you like them better then?) are showing people like you, with facts, numbers and arguments, why the situation is the way it is and why it cant change. -

t8 MM: When will this be fixed???
ForlornSailor replied to Besserwisser3000's topic in General Discussion
Can you and all others for the sake of humanity please start using basic logic? Dont you understand, that when there are more people playing T10 then T9 and there are more people playing T9 then T8 and there are more people playing T8 then T7 and there are more people playing T7 then T6 that means that.... EVERYONE NOT PLAYING T10 WILL BE UPTIERED MORE. This is math. This is logic. You can NOT change that. Can you and all others look here, use a calculator and check for yourself? http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/ranking/20190119/eu_week/average_ship.html Des Moines 18965 Salem 14261 Baltimore 7644 Cleveland 12718 Dallas 5869 Pensacola 6640 There are some numbers. Now build me games where 50% of the time a T8 is facing T10 and 50% of the time T6. Maybe 12.000 of the 18.000 Des Moines players should get a message "We are sorry. You may not play your Des Moines right now. It would be unfair for the players of T8. Please pick a T6 ship and re-enter the queue so we can hold the 50% quota. thank you". -
t8 MM: When will this be fixed???
ForlornSailor replied to Besserwisser3000's topic in General Discussion
Couple of things. - You complain in a LIGHTNING about T10 mm? Really? Its prolly the T8, that has the least problems beeing uptierd with its 5,5 km concealment. - If 20 people play T6, 50 people play T8 and 250 people play T10 - what kind of games will the matchmaker create for those people? So tell us your "easy fix", that a "trained monkey" can do, you genius. You havent even understood why the matchmaker creates the games it does. Do your homework. -
Yes, offensive power has increased, I dont think anyone can argue about that. About radar beeing part of it: Im 50/50 about. Sure, it can and is used to push positions, caps, DDs, Cruisers hiding and smoke and so on. But: it also has a defensive side. Im a very offensive player myself and I always play for the objective. And there I encounter the defensive side of radar often. Enemy radars stop me from pushing, where I want to go. They stop me from spotting the enemy team, since Im forced to hide behind an island. So yes, Radar is a tool for offensive play (I do use it myself mostly that way, when I have it available) but it also has its position in defensive play. I think, the RN DDs smoke is really broken. The short duration even helps those DDs, since you cant torp them anymore, their smoke runs out and the start moving before your torps reach them. Also, its almost all the time available so it covers your missplays nicely. Apart from that, I find the RN DDs to be "meh", with the exeption of Cossack. Yep, you have a point there. I suspect this myself... Its a bit of a shame, since the game is really at its best, when the teams fight on even terms for 20 mins.

Id like to get deeper into this. First: there are and always have been some players, that die like flies no matter what. Its especially noticable, when its a DD, for several reasons. First, he will be infront of everyone, so even people with a low awareness of their environment notice this, because it happens in front of their eyes (a DD in the back cant die in the start). Second, its just so easy to die in a DD. If you dont have the basics right, you will die quick. The BB AP change made it better, but when you YOLO, there are so many people and enough cruisers shooting you, that this doesnt matter. But granted, we dont have to discuss super bad players, they would die in any ship. Just wanting to point out, that you dont need radar to kill them and that didnt change. Now about DDs dying in the start: I seriously think, that IF (im not really convinced it changed over the time, but im willing to go with your claim for this part of the discussion) this is a thing now, it is because of the introduction of new ships. Over the years, we have seen the pace of the game getting faster. I think, this is what WG wants the game to be. Think about the original lines, US and IJN, and especially the cruisers. But it goes for all lines really. BBs had (and mostly still have) over 30 sec of reload time. Crusers with 10...15 sec, especially on the IJN side (Furutaka A-hull sits at 22 if im not mistaken?). Also, the IJN DDs have really slow firing guns. Then, WG introduced things like RN Cruisers, BBs with close to 20 sec reload (Nagato is getting buffed because the reload just isnt competetive anymore, right?) and ofc the IJN gunboat-DDs, RN DDs and the german DDs. Those DDs itself bring a lot of gunpower against other DDs and on top of that, extra tools like Hydro. And then WG buffed the alpha of IJN DDs, because the torpedo Destroyers got simply stomped. The innital engagement of DDs has become more brutal, faster and a simple mistake can be punished very harsh. And you dont exactly need radar for that. And to say one more thing about lopsided matches: I absolutly agree with you, atleast I hate roflstomps and fast games, doesnt matter if I win oder lose. But im not so sure, if WG is on our side with that. The overall impression, that im getting, is, that they rather want shorter rounds. I, personally, would love to see an average game last about 15...17 minutes. I actually think, we are in the range of 12 min or below. I got no data on that and im not sure if its available to the public anywhere - asked that before, since im keen to know myself. All I can look at is my own games and in the last 7 days I had quite some games shorter then 8 minutes and only 1 that went over 20 mins and was decided by points. This 20 min game was actually the highlight of the month for me. Yea, i agree with you. Else why would we spent our time with it. Now that you mention it: its true. With the exeption of some DDs turning 180° at spawn, this stuff has gone from the chat. When im suspicious about radar and dont want to push into a cap right away, I usualy inform my team about it in chat. Or I tell them, that if they want me to cap, they better shoot the radar cruiser. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I have my own thoughts about smoke. I think, WG waited too long to change something about it and then they made a wrong decision. They should have changed the duration of the smoke on the cruisers or made the cooldown longer. RN Cruisers were just crazy strong, because hardly anyone knew how to counter them. Smoke shooting wasnt a thing but it is now. Now you cant play your RN cruiser aggressive in the open anymore and still get shot at in your smoke even when you never were spotted. I feel much more vulnarable in a Netptune or Minotaur now then in a DD for example. Back when RN CLs were new, you were almost invincible. But overall: maybe smoke on cruisers is the same thing as radar on BBs: a combo, that shouldnt exist. I love my RN CLs, but its for the fact, they have huge carry potential - because of the smoke.

I played Fiji during that season and it was the greatest season ever. Supporting your DD was never as easy as then. Also, plenty of torpedo kills. Never needed, never wanted radar. Could have it if I have wanted it but Fiji > Belfast. The picture you are drawing is not how it happened. And looking at how you cant even expain what you mean, you only say "it" happened, I have a hard time even trying to understand the logic behind what you are trying to tell us. What negative impact? There is none. What is a "negative impact" anyway? Is a Yamato with his overmatch a "negative impact to all cruisers?" Do we need to whine about this? What about fires and perma floodings. They sure have a "negative impact" on the ones, that are suffering them? So what the ... is a "negative impact"? Or when you say, there are things, that have this "negative impact" - what are positive impacts then? I have a feeling, you lack the big picture. Everything, that happens, has a positive impact on one side and a negative impact on the other side. Since we are playing PvP. So this is rather confusing. Playing DDs on high tiers is awesome right now. Had a blast this evening again. What are you guys talking about? btw: Got radared about... 5 or 6 times in those two games combined. So dont try to make some stupid "I bet it was T6/T7 with 0 radar ships" comment.
-
Not only that, but if they chose to introduce a delay based on time, it will hughly impact russian radar, while the effect on US radar is smaller. 5s to Chapayev is more then huge. 5s to Des Moines? less so. IF anything, it would need to be percentual. Also, you have some good points. I agree with your post.

Lets make this clear once and for all: Radar is not a threat to bad players. They kill themselfs OR are useless to begin with, beeing somewhere at the map border where no decent radar ship is anyway. Like our Shimakaze that killed himself in minute 4 today, because he decided to rush the middle in Epicenter and then gunboat a Buffalo. Nobody needs radar to kill those DDs. However, radar is a counter against good players, so that they cant run around in their DDs raining havoc on the enemys. Radar stops me from permaspotting enemys, getting all caps I want and getting into any position I want before throwing my torps. Thus its one of the few good mechanics that actually forces a balance on the playerbase. I cant see the logic in that. Elaborate if you can.

He wont be alone tho. Whenever he is playing his Marblehead, im usualy there with my Cesare aswell.

Z-39 is really fun. The good thing about it: because of the super concealment, you are fine even in T9 games. So that absolutly hits the mark on your description about mm.

Now I wish I´d taken a screen from my PEF game. Had 24 hits, 10 of them overpens, and 10,5k dmg. you do the math...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
ForlornSailor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Nothing special from the damage but... I was constantly under fire, perma spotted from the CV and the starting mid-game the CV only foccused me. Yet I did survive with ~2k. Not sure how rare it really is but almost 1,5 mil potential damage in a T7-DD? Concidering it was mostly HE fired ? Also: 3 caps. Could have had 4 but the CV popped up so I decided to hunt and spot it instead of capping. -

The game we all dream about! Awesome. You got a replay? Upload to Youtube? -
For the premium time, I can say, that we will be reimbursed. Most likely by a system, that lets us chose, when to activate. Has been the last time like this. So you can get yourself premium for the next weekend. Atleast I guess thats what they will be doing.

I can confirm this. I was trying to focus a DD with my PEF secondaries and it just didnt work. Then i complained to Dfens, who then said, he has the same problem. Then at the exact same moment we both go "It worked now". This is too much concidence. It must be serverside or related to the operation somehow.
