Do you ever win a game after you lost your destroyer and enemy has some?
ForlornSailor replied to evcro's topic in General Discussion
but those are different people asking different things because of different reasons - many of them just beeing wrong. And seriously, if you force 2 CVs in every game, you might aswell delete the entire DD-class from the game. And, well, cruisers aswell in the same sweep, because they have no role either anymore, playing against 2 CVs with no DDs left anymore. -

Do you ever win a game after you lost your destroyer and enemy has some?

Nah it happens more often then you would think. Just yesterday I lost a game, while I was the DD myself and we had the enemy DDs killed of pretty early. Why? because the enemys knew how to play against a DD and the last guys alive on my side just had no clue how to make use of my spotting. Here is, what mostly happens - and I see this a lot, since I play DD often and I like early, aggressive approaches to kill of the DDs: When you manage to kill the or most of the enemy DDs - the rest of the red fleet turns and runs in fear. Which is the biggest mistake they can make, especially the BBs. But they are afraid to get torped. The thing is: if they would instead push and keep close to the objectives - they make up for the disadvantage. If you fight for the objective, then you keep the points even. You can make up for the theoretical lack of spotting, when you close the gap to the enemys. If you instead turn and run - you play more in the hands of the enemys. You give them map control, spotting control, objective control, points lead - everything. You know, what one DD can do, when you have soemthing like Hindenburg, Stalingrad, Minotaur and Bismark just rush into you? nothing. You have to give way. Its exactly what happened to my YY yesterday. They took one cap after the next and there was nothing I could do to turn it around. They go bow on into you, push you - you will not get a dev strike. They have perma hydro and radar - you need to stay far and they will see the torps early. So once again, the reason why you see what you see, is, lack of skill on the playerbase. They give away the chance to win and turn a slight disadvantage into an almost impossible to win situation. But thats also the reason, why good player can overturn it, because they know what to do - you think @SnuSnu_RIP won the game, because he turned his BB around, once his DDs were dead, sniping from the spawn? I expect he did exactly the opposite, but im sure he can explain in detail (well, he said, he capped, so it kinda gives already away what im suspecting, that he pushed aggressive, and thats exactly what im talking about). -

I took a screen of that. Not gonna lie: it got my blood boiling. While I am / we are fighting like crazy to try and keep the chance alive to win this game, this **** yolos his BB to death, because in his skull filled with potato-mash, the game is lost. And he f**** doesnt understand, how Tashkent needs to be played (he targeted me before that, didnt manage to screenshot it, too busy with the game). Cant even gasp the fact, that I already passed 80k damage. Yea, sure "just cap" with 2 alaska and a drake literally sitting IN the cap! Then look at the points/caps/time. We were fighting to grab kills and push towards the caps before the enemys reach 1000 points. My last action was to rush down the last enemy DD because I wanted to make sure, they cant come back again - I killed Friesland and the shot in the air from the dead Friesland still got me. But yea, worth it, cuz that clinged the win. What a game... stress, but such a comback just feels like epic win! (especially when you have one "teammate" rooting against you constantly in chat. Middle finger goes out to you, if you ever read this.) -
true. overall, flamu is still the go-to-guy. I personally learned a lot there back in the day. --> https://www.youtube.com/c/Flamuu/videos

If anything, they would be alike the RN/Lightning guns, since they are the same guns - talking 1941. But then you end up with a DD thats very similar to Lightning in the first place. It wouldnt really change anything either, since Blyskas problem, imo, isnt her gun power. The guns are pretty good, compared to other T7s. Blyska is a good fire starter especally. One can find some data here for example: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/163114-premium-ship-review-105-hmcs-haida/ So Blyska is already a superb fire starter, not sure what the jab at the balance department is about then? Also, since T9 was mentioned a few times: what a futile argument. So you´d think you need to be on par with a heavy-gunboat DD like Mogador as a T7 DD to be balanced. Thats an interesting opinion. Would love to hear from T5 DD players, when they meet a Blyska with the firepower of a T9 DD...

It also depends on the class your are playing and how the game looks like. Since we talk about DDs in this post, I can give you a few advice on how I base my decisions, if I leave a strong flank and support a weak one: - Will there be spotting, if I leave my flank? (if yes, I will leave the flank) - Does the weak flank have a spotting problem / will my spotting be usefull there? (if answers are no/no, I will not go, I will clean my flank first and then move over to the lost flank) Ill show you a recent game, where I indeed switched the flank: I was about to focus the right flank with my division. But we lost the DD left. Also, enemys are pushing there, which is always good for a DD, since you can torp-wave them. That we have 2 BBs kiting on that flank, with us having no DD there while the enemys have 2, leave me pretty much no other choice but to go there and spot for them. We managed to stop the push shortly after the A-cap and won the game.

Yea indeed. If you would know the history tho... so, wtf this. Its the 1937 version. You are even looking at 100 mm guns.
-
Well, what kind of advice to give to that... I mean I hear you, but then again: shouldnt you still maybe reset a line, which rather suits you? So that regrinding is actually something rather pleasent then a chore? Or you just completly ignore the Reseach Bureau (which I do) because I dont like grinding anyway.
-
Does that mean, you think the T6/T7 actually are in a better spot? Id argue, they are much worse than Benson/Fletcher/Gearing ... and you outspot almost everything else + outgun the IJN torpboats. US DDs are hybrids. They are good around caps. If you play them long range and gun focused, its no wonder, you think they are bad. I suggest russian gunboats or french DDs then. They will fit your/this style. Leave other DD lines alone, because there are people out there, that enjoy them. Like me.

Nice base XP... but not because I slammed a lot of torps into enemy BBs, but because I had to gunfight the enemy DDs, T10 ones ofc. Some things never change.. well I guess 2 caps and 120k spotting also helped with the base XP. -

wow.. in this case, for once its really in place: you need to go to your parents or teacher and ask them to teach you percentage. Not an insult, not a flame, just the hard truth. I gave you a perfect example, which you just refuse to read/answer/understand. Dont be ignorant, dont give yourself up. Its never too late to get educated. You can start here: http://www.math.com/students/calculators/source/3percent.htm -
Stalingrad 2 is the old ship from the testing phase, before Stalingrad was released. So short answer: no.
-
And that really answers the question. Especially early game, you keep your distance with Thunderer. (No, I dont mean 23km from the nearest ship, just inb4 someone argues me on that). So you will have more salvos, per game with DE active, compared to other BBs, where you want to be more aggressive. So why wouldnt you pick a skill, that improves your dispersion? The only argument would be, if there is another skill, that could be more worthy. You mention extra heal - well dont need extra heal, when you killed everything with dead eye before it gets to you huh ^^ (yea not 100% serious on that one obviously). But then again - if you are concerned about healing and want to build a monster heal ship, then you can pick Conqueror for that? Imo with Thunderer you already pick the option, that brings less healing power yet more accurate guns. And usually the concensus is, that you should build for the ships strenght.
-
Yea, I just took the screen from our Discord, where we discuss cpt builds, thats why I had them marked :) Didnt had the game on, else I would have taken a new screen. But you lack the extra health and AR, which will boost your reload even more. I mean lets face it, even as an Asashio, you will need to fight enemys DDs at some point. Atleast thats the situation I always find myself (or put myself in Idk :D ). So I appreciate the extra health.
-
Its been a really really hard time for DDs ever since the patch. check my damage... Yea, only the 20km Asashio works and indeed, most of those torp hits have been at 13 km and beyond. And then you have games, where your team decides, they will leave you against THIS! Deal with it, 4k YY! (managed to take down the Hipper but that was it) And why, because our Massa is TOO DUMB to freakin load AP for the 11k Mino, which im spotting EVER SINCE HE CAME FROM A... went to B... capped B... went to C... capped C ON EFFING Tears of the Desert! Then ofc turns broadside when the mino smoked up just to... you guessed it - TAKE ALL THE TORPS! Then ofc he found the chat, to complain about me not doing anything, no spot etc blabla. Well, I conclude: he must be blind. When you dont see a Mino crossing the entire Tears of the desert map, then something is wrong with your eyesight. Not that our other BBs were better. I mean when there is a 150 health Bismarck (literally), thats burning AND flooding down, then you better ram all your Hizen shells into it. Who knows, maybe its a zombie - better make sure it stays dead. What? full broadside Mino and Stalin next to that? Hell nah, they are full health, why bother. I want to strangle those BB folk.
-
Fully agree. Forget all the 1 point skills. 30% flooding sounds good, but the math behind it is so complex, that its not that important. Im running this: Results in random so far: + Ranked:

- use the auto-repair / check in the gamecenter. test if it helped - remove any mods / 3rd party addons you run with the game. test. - if not, deinstall the game, download it again and do a clean install. test again once you are through that and the problem is still there, there needs to be more thorough testing.

Make it worth our time. Your buddy in the other topic mentioned something like... one wouldnt play Poker without money. So make it interesting?

You are having a logic-flaw in your thinking. Or you two talk about two different things. Ill try to resolve this with an easy example: Imagine a new player, he just starts the game. He plays 8 games on the first day. He loses them all. He has thus 0% Winrate, right? right. He plays 2 games on his second day. He wins one, he loses one. On this day, his Winrate is 50%. right? right. Now he has 10 games overall. Whats the winrate showing on this account? -
Why are people obsessed with stats in random games?

Indeed it does. You dont even understand, you are walking with your pants down, crying, in this topic since post number 1 and looking like a complete fool, right? -

I wasnt talking about myself. Do you have any reading comprehension at all? I said, the person YOU ARE TALKING TO. Do you understand that? Now go and check with whom you talked. Tell us about it. You are the expert in that field, thats for sure. -

The funny thing is: you are telling that to a person, who has played for his Nations E-sport team in another game, has won several competitions (with prizes) in that very game, was concidered one of the best TDM and 1x1 players in that game. You just dismantled your own position and kicked your own butt by assuming stuff and talking to the wrong person. ouch, owned. must hurt to be you. -

No, im not. thats what you are projecting to have a reason to be angry at anyone, that disagrees with you. Your skillbased approach is not going to make a difference. Because what you claim, wouldnt be a problem for high WR players, you do ignore for the low skill ones. There, all of a sudden, 40% is 40%. 40% can be "I yolo in the 2nd minute my DD in center cap" OR 40% can be "I hug the border with muh Yamato shooting HE". The boring and frustrating games do NOT come from skill difference, they come from LOW SKILL. They come from WG selling and giving access of high tier ships to absolute new players. And if you seperate the bad players into their own universe- guess what - they will never even have a chance to become better. I actually want them to become good players, this is what the game needs, you understand that? new players that develope a decent level of skill. This is a complete ther point of your "lock all bad players into bad player gulag". The game will die down, seperated into different kinds of universes. Oh and also: People could just install bots or send their ships into randoms via remote connection from work all they long, to lower their stats. then in the evening, they get super matchmaking when they are playing themself, becuase they have dropped to 0 PR and 34% WR. And why would people do that, you ask? Because A) then you get WAY better rewards for playing, you know, XP and credits, because that is what the game is all about. Dont you think a huge mass of suiciding people, to get better matchmaking, would completly destroy the game? Also: You talk about "not beeing able to carry games" which is boring and frustrating - with skillbased mm you would NEVER be able to carry a game, since there is no opponents left that would let you carry, you understand that, right? this is complelty irrelevant to the skill level (if it would be implemented in a way you want) because... ah well im tired of typing. I dont think you will accept what we tell you anyway. You have your mind set, right? For you, its not a discussion, right?
