Give us the possibility to refund CV
ForlornSailor replied to anonym_RGvUdEcxWWvD's topic in General Discussion
Listen my friend. You asked a question, if it would be fair. Couple of people explained it to you, why this is 180° contrary to the game economics, because it literally wants you to grind lines and it needs people to grind lines to work. On top of that, if you want to focus on the "is it fair"-part : No, its not fair. Because why would you limit it to a CV vs CV exchange? Then I should be able to exchange my Moskva for the Midway. Not a single reason the one thing should work and the other dont. So basically - if I grinded / bought 1 tier 10 - then I have them all. Dont like the ship anymore? switch. Game got rebalanced? switch again. The game doesnt work like this. But hey, if you dont like the answers, you got so for, feel free to do a @ and ask MrConway directly. I wont tag him for you, because I know the answer and dont think he should be bothered with something, that the community answered to you quite clearly and with a lot of explanations. I think everything is said here... -
Give us the possibility to refund CV
ForlornSailor replied to anonym_RGvUdEcxWWvD's topic in General Discussion
Dont assume when you are obviously wrong. I understood perfectly, what you are saying. Its still the same thing. Should i be able to exchange my Hindenburg for my Moskva? You know, because Hindenburg got nerfed while Moskva got buffed? No. Thats the way things go. This is the core of the game. It doesnt work the way you want it to work. Never has - never will. WG has been pretty generous with how they refunded the silver line CVs when the rework came, a lot of people gained a lot of free XP and Dubloons on top of that. Maybe that spoiled some people in their expectations. -

You havent researched the US CV line. Why do you think you should get the T10 CV for free? I got a T10 Cruiser. I dont like it. Should I just say "lemme try another one for free".This goes against every rule of a grinding game. Start T4 US CVs if you want to play them. Or you take you credit card out. Thats the business model of this game, like it or not. -
CV interaction with other ships - i think we need balancing fast
ForlornSailor replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
@Culiacan_Mexico - also: check how the contribution in capping points went down during the last weeks. You need now 2,2 Shimas per game to secure ONE cap. I also noticed during my few games, that Harugumo is prefered now AND does very well in the current meta. -

If you´d tell the story around the fighters, to someone, who doesnt know our beloved game, he´d most likely think, you are telling bs. But yes, this is, sadly, the correct answer. How I love my fellow captains in this game. -
So how does Continous DPS AA actually work? Potential bug!?
ForlornSailor replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
Yes. Now things start to make a lot of sense. So basically, everyone with high plane damage right now is playing against newbs, that fly into the flak. I was wondering yesterday, why my damage only showed 100-something on my shinonome, while I constantly had planes over me and often AA active. Could WG for the love of god finaly build a UI, that gives me CORRECT feedback without me having to guess WTF is going on on my screen? Is that too much to ask? -
Suggestion to balance carriers and destroyers

I agree with you. Balancing should go step-by-step and sixth sense needs to go first. I just wish we shouldnt have to deal with all of this on the live server. -

Seriously, reality has nothing to do with gamebalancing. Unless you want the queue to look like this: CV: 30.000 BB : ------ CA : ------- DD : -1 Not sure if that "crazy people" - line is needed but then we need subs aswell... #justsayin Oh and btw: I prefer my Burger without cheese #truestory -
CV interaction with other ships - i think we need balancing fast
ForlornSailor replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
Yes thats what I was talking about. And I know, that would prolly be boring to play. I, personally, find the current version boring no matter what. But the dpm could be adjusted, that wouldnt be a problem. Well, the problem beeing WG, since they dont want high alpha damage on CVs. Which is one the reasons of the current problem, if you ask me. Ill return to what I said about slow reload + high damage / fast reload + low damage. This is across the board one of the constant things in the game and WG rolled (somewhat) with it with the new CVs. But imo, it doesnt suit the class. The slow reload + high alpha, as in RTS CVs, was much better suited for the class. Again, my opinion, I know a lot of people will disagree (some just out of spite for the old class). It is also about, how it feels. When the CV is moving in, attack your DD, and you know he will be back in 30~40 sec - thats wrong. You have problems securing objectives, because it takes longer for the cap to turn green then it takes the CV to cycle. Also: the spotting during that phase is the even bigger problem. During the CV-attacks you are spotted and often shot at. It also makes the enemy aware, where you are, making it less likely to hit torps. It is highly frustrating to play DDs atm. And I want to remind you, how many DD players are out there, that dont have the skill you and I have in this class. They already make mistakes without all of this. I can only imagine how they feel. But at the end of the day: WG needs to find a way to make this work for everyone, else they will lose players. I concider the people here in the forums to be that group of the community, that is the best informed and has the least problems in adapting. Now if so many people see problems, feel unmotivated or say, its unfun - then something must be wrong. And thats a general statement without favouring one side or the other, since you see whine for both sides of the coin. I was a little confused yesterday evening, when I logged on, to see nobody from my clan ingame. On a, well late but still, sunday evening. -

CV interaction with other ships - i think we need balancing fast
ForlornSailor replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
Hey, you can make reseaonable posts! You should try that more often And I agree, that sounds interesting, if done right. If WG would finaly decided, that the testserver is not a "see 1 week earlier, what trainwreck we have prepared for the live server" but actually a real testing environment - we could try stuff like that out there. I think, the hanger should be adressed. Because if we are talking about "fun", then it makes more sense letting people actually shoot down planes instead of having the feeling of fighting against "asbestos the invincible airmonster". But is also more of a problem for the lower tier CVs. But for some reason, WG feels they are bound to somewhat realistic numbers in that department, while everything would be easier, if we could just leave the realism card out there - as they do in many other parts of the game. IMO - we also need to disable planes from beeing lauched right at the match start. Yeye I know, WG wants more action blabla, but my DD doesnt spawn 7 km next to a BB and neither are my torps ready at the start of the round. So the question remains: why WG feels, the CV players needs to jump right into the action, while everyone else is pretty much driving into position for the first minutes? Nothing wrong in giving CVs the same delay. The innitial spotting is what screws with peoples brains right now. If the last days have shown anything, that this: we wont find a consensus on that. When talking about counters, we should think about, how counters look at other occasions in the game and why they are (mostly accepted). Say DDs vs. BBs. DDs have the stealth, speed and the strong weapon. But that weapon has a long reload to make up for that. BBs vs. Cruisers: BBs have the strong weapon again with the long reload, Cruisers the stealth (well, often) and the speed. Now when you apply, f.e. CV vs DD : CV has speed, the stealth is pretty much given by the way the CV engages and has the ability to spot you and it has the fast reload. DD has.... ? (with the current few exeptions of Kidd+some T10 DDs) nothing. So thats not right. Maybe the entire concept of giving CVs the ability to attack multiple times with one squad is wrong. Maybe its also wrong that there is no cooldown once I used one specific squad. THAT would have been a counter to F-spam aswell. You used F for your TBs? cooldown, use something else. -
CV interaction with other ships - i think we need balancing fast
ForlornSailor replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
Same here buddy, same here... And you are right about WG. Its not going to happen, I know. But at the same time I feel like I have to try. I said it many times before, and never ever did someone answer: Why play a DD then? I can just take a cruiser. Spotting is provided from the CVs and if one team manages to get the the advantage, any ship can cap. Some Cruisers are perfect now for that. If you actually look at the serverstats: Minotaur capping points are up 50% in the last week already, while Shima is down to avg 28 capture points per game. This is alarming. So you did good in games without CV because the players are now even more stupid and influenced in their choice of ships because of the meta, that the rework created. Sounds like you acknowledge, something is very wrong with the meta. -
Suggestion to balance carriers and destroyers
ForlornSailor replied to Skydeskiven's topic in General Discussion
Yes, both these things need to addressed. Very shortly after the rework I already said, that DDs need to have a way smaller air detection. It wasnt received well. Guess it more and more becomes obvious, that this is indeed needed. To make spotting depended on the speed of the plane would also be very interesting. Its even realistic (for everyone, that needs a connection to reallife). So if a CV wants to really search a DD, he´d need to slow down to make it visible. There is a lot of room, to make this work really good i think. If WG wants to go that way, is ofc a complete different topic. -
Please nerf CV's WG. So OP now. OMG. REEE
ForlornSailor replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
Yea, cleeearly what the stats show. CV did 0 damage and you spotted ONE plane squad. Also: much DD gameplay there. 0 cappoints, 34k spotting damage, I think when I mention the following combinations, they will sound familiar to you? A1 A10 J10. Your screenshots are useless. -
And FYI: you are even wrong with that ad hominem.
-
Stop trying? Look at your overwhelming argume- OH WAIT ! you have non! Embarrassing.
-
Argueing against 1 CV per game is like making useless threads about decent BBs calling them crrp. Oh wait...
-
This. Those things go without saying actually and seriously, I dont care how they achieve it, but if anything is close to beeing unplayable atm, its DDs (with the exeption of T10s, who might be able to selfdefend). CVs, especially the games with two of them, they stomp so hard over the concealment of DDs its not even funny. And it gets worse on lower tiers. T6 maps are so small, that a DD there is now totaly useless, when faced by 2 CVs that atleast are decent at their job.
-
How about we, as a community, start a crowd funding to do a hostile takeover on WG? People clearly have the money, since we spend a lot on their stuff. So, with how unhappy people are, we get them to buy out WG. Then we can finaly have it our way. "Invest 500 € and in case of success get all premium ships for free - invest 1000 € and get lifetime premium acc for free".

Please nerf CV's WG. So OP now. OMG. REEE
ForlornSailor replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
Thank you. Exactly. These things happen, they are usualy one specific situation where a) you made a mistake (we all do them no matter how good we are) or b) that one enemy, in that case the Zao, played very smart. The point is: It is now not one specific situation. It start already 40 sec into the game. Even if you as a DD will avoid beeing spotted, your cruisers cant. They can not get into position, to provide a decent AA cover, as they did before. You know, the thing that RTS-CV players mentioned as no-fly zones. Even bringing something as Minotaur into position is now hard. That atleast I made work. But I can also perfectly understand people, that wont try this, thus staying in the back. This is by many refered to as the "blob-Meta" already. Ill return to that specific game. It was Epicenter btw. So I managed to avoid the innitial spotting and got into the center. The enemy CVs were good (one of them I knew, so I knew what I was getting into, wont mention his name) so ofc that guy knew the area where I have to be. Spotted during my capping process, used smoke to counter it, we got the cap. Im trying to get my team to move closer by asking them, to which some even reply and obviously try (this is already more then you can ask from a normal random team). Meanwhile, CV torps my smoke. I evade that, much like I would have done with RTS CVs. With RTS CVs, I would have been safe from his attacks now for quite a while and if the CV would try to permaspot me, so deep in my own side (im absolutly on the edge of the capcirle), my CV could engage that squad with his fighters. Yes, sometimes that didnt happen, because you had a 20% Midway and the enemy was El2aZer but in all honesty i can remember exactly one previous game, where that happened to me as a DD. And when that is so rare, and obviously down to the skill of the CV-player ill say "well played my friend, you deserve the win". Now Ive played 2 games with DD against double CV and it was always a problem. Because: CV is back withhin 30 sec. And my CV has no counterplayer, no chance to help me. Not only can the CV attack me again, he also spots me for his team, even if its not his intention. And thats where I eventualy caught the damage from. Never could I get somewhat close to the enemys to torp (my own CVs helped, because they pushed the enemy BBs back in the spawn) and also were the other targets out of reach from my glorious 9 km guns. So I conclude: - Spotting provide by CVs is a problem. This goes highly for innitial spotting as well as spotting during the game. - Games with 2 CVs are a problem, now also at lower tiers (maybe even more there !) , because AA is weaker there. Need more data (WG meme intended) but it points to that. - AA/CV interaction, while initself is better before, has flaws. How do you balance a T8 CV that fights T6 and T10 ships? Same goes for the AA of T6 surface ships as well as ships on other tiers. This is a bigger problem as with RTS CVs. - The future of DDs can hardly be to stay behind their Cruisers and BBs. Then I can play a cruiser right away. I agree with that. Meta is stupid and there are serious issues, that wont be fixed by tweaking numbers of the AA. -

No you didnt. I got complelty taken out of game yesterday with my Shinonome by 2 CVs. I had 0 damage when I died. ZERO. When I use your logic, I can post that screen and its inevitable proof, that CVs are OP. So how is that fine? Because you did good in one specific DD against one specific CV player (who is, im sure when we look up his stats, a complete newb) doesnt proof anything. I could have posted screens from RTS CVs, when a 25% Midway player shredded all his planes to my Mino or Neptune and say "buff RTS CVs, they suck" with that. Really? You throwing a l2p at him? And at me too? Info: I got 0 damage from the CVs. ZERO. But they still took me out of game. But ill invite you. Lets go play some randoms. We click in. You solo, Shinonome, and you Dfens clicks in with his T8 CV, ill join with Chapayev. Please, show us, what you do different in that situation. Ill be the first to admit, we need to learn to play when you shoot 34 planes from him down and manage to stop me from killing you. -
Nice story but ... there was no T8 CV in that match.
