    CV- Fight your instincts

Well... I mean... Its not really about denying or argueing against it, but when I read: Then I refuse to accept the current state or that strategy as valid. Although I can understand why the things that are said have been said. But its interesting that OP is critizing the lack of rewards for spotting now. You and I know, that this is nothing new. I always refused to change my playstyle as a DD, when the option was putting my personal reward (we are mostly taking credits here, not XP, since winning will always lead to more XP) infront of my teams chances to win. I mean Id like to think there is a reason why I win 2 out of 3 games I join as a DD. And its not like teamplay mechanics havent been nerfed before? Man the glorious days I played my US DDs as team b!tches only. Smoking up as many guys as possible and run up and down infront of my own smoke. I didnt care about my damage, I didnt care about my credits. I care about winning. And thats still my absolute main goal whenever I join a game. And that brings me to the part, where I actually do disagree with OP: Beein egoistic. This is a teamgame afterall. I strongly believe in that and I will always stand up for that. You better spot that DD if need it gone to make us win. And we, as experianced players, should counter egoistic views and tell them, that thats not the way to go. If you teamplay, the game is MUCH more enjoyable, aka fun! Something, you read a lot these days, is, that people saying, they dont have fun. Then I wonder why that is. Maybe because you are too focussed on yourself? I never ever watch my credit outcome every round. I simply dont care. Just play some premium ships inbetween and that stupid stuff will flow in by itself. Or dont rush through all silver lines but keep on playing. I did 160 games in Svietlana when I started because I enjoyed the game, I liked playing that ship. What has happened to that? What are we here for? Rush ASAP to T10? Look only how my credits pile up? Meanwhile rage at the game because its so s%%%? That doesnt make sense at all...

First impressions after some time playing CVs post-rework

Twice the same class is never a good idea. Trust me - been there, done that. You will have much more sucess with grinding, say, a Des Moines as a Partner for the Yamato.

Captains of CV dont fly aircrafts!

Sure you can. Maybe you should? Hm. I will try to say this as nice as I can. No you didnt. Seriously.

AFK'ers Any suggestions on how to deal with them?

Never seen 12/24 afk, not even close. Are you sure you dont make that up? Post the replay please. And if its true - it suggests, something went wrong on the server, dropping a lot of connections from the connected players. Which kinda tells you, your point is non-existent, since the players are not to blame for their disconnect.

Captains of CV dont fly aircrafts!

I think you should play some other class. CVs are clearly not for you. Not now and not before the rework.

Player Numbers. How much are they actually down?

It has everything to do with the rework. How come there are so many people noticing the same things? I absolutly want to state, that OLD CV players and NEW CV players are a complete different thing. Yes, some players belong to both groups and were good and are good now. But for those, that either belong to group A or group B, I will say this, from experiance, taking part in hundreds of CV threads over the years: OLD CV players were mostly reasonable. They could present their positions with facts and in a calm way. Those new bunch of CV players are unreasonable, they are egocentric and they dont understand, they are cutting into the branch, they are sitting on. What strategy? There is no strategy left to play DDs. "Stay with the fleel and dont cap" is not a strategy for this class. I have asked this 5 times so far, and now im asking this for the 6th time (Yes, i am STILL counting and STILL waiting for an answer): Why play a DD when I should play it like a cruiser? Do you have an answer for that? When I: - Dont (need to) spot - Dont / cant contest objectives - my torps dont have the range to reach the enemy blob - If I try to do my job as a DD I will most likely be spotted then when the F@@k should I pick a DD? On-topic: I actually wanted to play yesterday, because of the Naval battles event. I couldnt find anyone to division with me, because they were all sick of the game or lacked completly motivation to even try it out. Well, ok, when I turned to people, that Ive never before asked to division with (shows how desperate I was) one of them already was in a division, which was full. So I went to play something else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  8. btw - congratz: 10,000 battles! nice milestone

Hm. missed that one. The Henri-example sounded too good in my mind ^^ Ive been discussing this before and yea, it has its advantages. But im pretty sure WG will dismiss anything like that as "too complicated". And to some degree, thinking about the playerbase, they even have a point...

Face it you have no idea what I like or dislike - your posts shows it. How about you go through my posting history if you want to draw an accurate picture of me? Nah, you are rather beeing dishonst and paint my arguments in the light you want to see them. Last 7 days survivability rates, EU server: Midway: 75.67 % Hakuryu : 75.71 % Minotaur: 33.60 % Worcester: 35.90 % Des Moines: 31.80 % Who is dishonest now? How does your claim relate to the real world? CVs die easily? Cruisers are invincible? Dude, if you want to continue discussing, stick to facts. I dont do mindless propaganda. This . is . not . 1v1. game. You are not supposed to defend yourself against them, once they hunted you down. And again i will remind you : Midway: 75,67% survivability, Minotaur, 33,60%.

What did I say about sentences that stars with "fact is?" Dude, talk only for yourself. My experiance is: the cowards will hide in zero risk classes. As I said above - seen it in different games, the pattern repeats. No, that group of players does not look for a challenge. They might even fail hard at other roles in the game and the retreat to that class, that has the lowest risk of getting killed. Again, I will state very clearly, that im NOT talking about everyone playing CVs but there is a group of players, that chose this class for a reason. ...and that is the goal of the rework. Stop telling everyone what everyone already knows. WG specificly said: impact of CVs must be lowered. CV shall not attack any ship they chose at any time given anymore. They need to carefully select targets. If you dont agree with that, you disagree with the entire rework. You cant demand this to change this, aka get more damage and attack everything at will and at the same time fly your planes untouched across the map while your hull is safe aswell.

Well the autopilot is crrp. No denying that. Our divi had to try yesterday and ram a ship with a midway to get a win... didnt happen, the autopilot had other ideas. Who knows if that was their honest goal. Maybe they just said it because it sounds good. Prolly someone from the marketing department added it to the concept paper I mean they had to knew, how the gameplay will look like. And they had to come to the same conclusion as Thiextar and so many others. Infact, during the testing on PTS many people already warned, that it doesnt look promising (for whatever reason). And if we leave all this balancing aside, that people complain about right now, blaming it to be unfun - the class itself is highly repetetive and it will get boring eventually? I dont see myself doing 20 games of that in a row AND repeating that over a couple of months? Which wouldnt be a problem, when the class would be so popular, that you´d switch between all 4 all of the time. But like the old CVs - the new CVs arent drawing the attention needed for that. There are still enough people that will never ever touch CVs for many reason. A new one beeing "I want to play ships not planes", which is valid aswell. It IS in the core a zero risk class. WG made sure that CV sniping is almost impossible. The core of the game is still your hull. CVs are rarly getting sunk. And if they are now, people still complain. You need to understand, that these kind of classes draw the attention of a certain group of players. The ones, that want to be untouchable. This is not exclusive to wows or WG-titles (theixtar gave another example with WoT) but throughout gaming history. Ive played anothre game called World in Conflict with the EXACT same core problem. Funny, that it also was artillery. People had 20x the range of other classes and sniped from the back. Those players exclusivly played that class, because their ego couldnt handle to get in the line of fire. And you see the same kind of people playing the CVs here now. Carefull before someone tells me, im insulting all CV-Players: no. It doesnt mean all CV-Players are like that. But that group of players will pick CVs as their class. To draw the attention to some stats: last week T8 and T10 CVs on the EU server survived between 72 and 82% of the games. You see a lot of games ending with the CV(s) alive now. This is the defintion of a zero risk class in game, where you can not respawn. And even while surviving ~75% of the games, we see posts of people, that comlain, they are getting sunk by DDs and demand more tools to defend themself. On the lower tiers, CVs get sunk more often (due to smaller maps and more chaoic gameplay) but they still are way above all other classes. You need to remove the zero risk, so put their survivability of the hull in line with other classes THEN you can talk about giving them more reward. You cant have a shipclass in game, that will survive all the time AND has a high impact aka reward. But hey, dont take my word for it - look the CV rework video from WG up. They said it there: lower impact of CVs. Conclusion is: When they survive a lot, they cant deal a lot of damage either.

That conclusion is too easy and wrong initself. You know you can like CVs AND dislike the rework at the same time. Would you say that to people, that hide their stats? Or you would straight up jump to calling them "newbs" in that case? How about cutting the crrptalk on a personal level and adress the things, he has mentioned? Is this going to be possible in forums 2019? I dont understand either, why the majority here has problems in looking at the rework from both perspectives. You mention either of them and you get called "CV-hater" or "CV-apologist". Its annoying right now. And I agree with you. Not only that: The forums are undeniably proof, that your conclusion is correct. You see both sides complaining exactly about what you are mentioning. Ofc both sides are frustrated and this will never change with this approach. Oh, well, it can change for either one of them, like with a 1000% increase of AA surface ships will be happy or you decrease AA by 99% and CVs will be happy. One is going to kill CVs tho the other is going to kill the game. And yes, the old system DID work better - you can see this about 40 sec into the game these days. Nothing is stopping a CV atm unless he hits the AA-wall. Before a CV had to take care of the other CV. Its the same for all other ships: DDs couldnt just yolo ahead - they would run into red DDs and get taken out by the enemy team. Cruisers yoloing ahead will run into DDs or other cruisers and die. BBs yoloing are dead so quick, they cant make use of their heals etc. So there is always a force that will stop you from doing this - if you are somewhat intelligent and understand the game. This counter to the CV - aka player controlled fighters - are gone. And because of that, some people think, they can yolo ahead now and have a right to attack any target they see. But the fighter planes of the CVs have been replaced with the AA on ships. So surface ships get annoyed by the spotting, because nobody is stopping the CV from that. Dont anyone bring up the argument of strong AA because that still doesnt stop the spotting itself. And CVs are annoyed because they run into the strong AA - which HAS TO BE strong, as I explained above. This is the system the rework created and it can never ever be balanced. If you feel that way about 98% of the ships and players in this game - I think you are wrong here.

CV- We are in for a world of hurt

One of the goals of rework: remove ability of CVs to solo carry games. Guess rework is success
  19. ForlornSailor

Carriers little to no damage on anything

Yea, thats what I said pretty early after that change - you need to manually steer the planes out of the AA-range before you want to use F. But once you dropped your armaments, the planes wont do this crazy 10 sec skyrocketing .. anymore? Is it already in the game? Or does it come with the next patch? I keep losing track of which changes are already in the game and which are yet to come.... Cant remember WG mentioning smoke at any point, but when we think about islands now - then I guess its working as intended, that you couldnt see them. Now for the planes on the other hand... Guess we have to try in the training room if we are spotted and then go from there if thats working as intended or not. Logic would suggest, that the planes infact get unspotted and are save.

Carriers little to no damage on anything

Nah, I understood that, but I wanted to know if the smoke actually did conceal your planes or not? Maybe you have a replay. Im trying to think of similar situations but cant remember any so far.

It over 18 km now since the nerf unification of CE.

Carriers little to no damage on anything

Did you still have the "detected" notification for your planes? If not - maybe it was the delayed damage from the flak. Im actually not sure, how long it takes for the flak to arrive and deal damage, 5 sec sound a bit long tho. Yep thats what happend there aswell. After they passed me, I got them all within a few seconds. Its the change in mechanics. You pretty much damage the entire squad without kiling a plane and once they are weak theyll drop like flies. That can be an advantage but at the same time a disadvantage (for the CV). Those people, that are not aware of that, will miss the point to recall and save the planes, then lose everything.
  23. we can all hold our breath. Engaging in discussions is not his "thing". Too bad tho. Or maybe better for me aswell. Dont really need PMs from mods. Just one thing: check his stats. Check WR for: solo - division of 2 - division of 3. Yeap. Says a lot about impact of divisions.
  24. ForlornSailor

Carriers little to no damage on anything

You should train doding the flak on lower tiers. On the high tiers, ships put out more flak bursts and the higher speed of the planes doesnt make it easier to avoid them acutally. T6 CVs will work for that. They might not be fun to play in randoms but you can train the basic gameplay. Or you take the T6 CV to operations - they are really good there. Also. in randoms, avoid attacking ships, that are in a group. This wont work and this is intented by WG so im pretty sure it wont change.
