Can we talk about the blatant lie that is Smolensk?

What people often forget about the WR of a certain ship: Its highly influenced by the number of games played. The more popular a ship is, the higher is the chance, that both sides have one of said ships. Thus, after the game, the WR for that ship is 50%. Value for evaluating, if this ship is strong or weak: 0%. Currently, Smolensk is very popular with 73811 games played in the quoted statistic. Moskva f.e. has only 49847, Stalingrad 35520. Des Moines, as one of the most played T10 cruisers - 108.041. Just to put some perspective and pointing out, that a ship, that is been played that much, by logic cant reach a much higher Winrate then it currently does.

    CV Rework Discussion

Sure. I guess the Nikolai and the Yubari in those divisions are also "regrinding". Looks like you dont know, that those are weekly stats. Well they are, thus your objection irrelevant by your own standard.

    Hindenburg Floating Citadel ?

No you cant... Because you may have met a Yamato, that had no clue where to point his guns, doesnt mean roon can and Hindenburg cant. You will not be doing that to me when I got 460mm arguments on my side, rest assured. You sure have a lot of confidence in yourself and your (limited) knowledge. You constantly tell those people in the forums, that have years of experiance and from whom Ive over the years saw 99% good advice, based on facts and understanding of game mechanics - that they have "no idea". Way to build yourself a reputation. Its rather the opposite: if you dont want to believe us, then its you, who has no idea. And we actually dont care that much - I know I wont any longer...

    Hindenburg Floating Citadel ?

I posted that before your comment showed up. Ever think about, that this might happen? still the point stays: Hindenburgs turtle back is strong close range and easy to bypass long range. And well, if you meet an experianced player, that knows, how to citadell Hinenburg (cough front turrets cough) then tough luck. Guess what would happen to any other T10 Cruiser when it meets a BB at 6 km... yea, Hindenburg is actually the best choice in that situation. Also, you can rush & auto bounce a BBs with 406mm and they can do nothing about it, then take em down with your torps. Again, you need to learn how to do this. Its the third time we have this back and forth discussion about game mechanics, and you always go like "no, but..." yet other players manage to do this without a problem. How is that possible then?

    Hindenburg Floating Citadel ?

Like this? Got more where I do this with Moskva f.e. thing is: you need to be closer, then Hindenburg turtle back works.

    Clan brawl

how is that possible? the longest we had to wait was like 10 sec? in 5 mins we already went through an entire game :|

    Yudachi: before you buy it

The thing is: it doesnt matter which DD it is. Thats also what im trying to tell you. If you think, there is a difference in capping/dealing with radar between Fletcher, Cossack, Z-52 or Ognevoi then you are wrong again. Well, Z-52 has it actually easier then the others, thats what I tried to tell you with the Z-39 replay, which was about DD-DD-engagement. Lets try this. You are this DD. You want to go for a cap. which one you take? Its 1:30 into the game. Now where could the radar cruisers be? what you think? which position that I marked is likely?

    Food for through 🤔

Now here comes the best part: It seems like nobody has ever actually watched the video (I did). Wargaming is mentioned as a POSITIVE example on how to do f2p-games right. now what? Thats why I asked OP, what his point is.

    Yudachi: before you buy it

Well see, thats already a mistake in progress. Thats what I tried to tell you in the first place. You always talk about mitigating the outcome of mistakes made, as it turning & dodging. When you position correctly, you bait the radar and leave the radar range within a couple of seconds. f.e. but you need to plan ahead. Here is the thing: im not always playing perfect. If I would claim that, I wouldnt sound reasonable. I get caught in radars, that I dont anticipate with any DD. And then I take way more damage then those times, when im radared and I knew beforehand, that this will happen. Actually I sometimes even include reversing towards the enemy ;) I play DD in my clan in clanwars quite often, and they straight out wouldnt let me do this if I couldnt handle radar. And its actually a nice training. You dont meet harsher conditions as a DD then in clanbattles, when you face 2, 3 or 4 radar ships and you are forced to fight for the caps. I can give you another example of such a clanbattle: Check the line up. The enemys has 2 Radar, one with a very long lasting one (Edinburgh). Then check my potential damage: 890k. they were firing really hard on me, once I was radared. But I still managed to get all 3 caps. I can only tell you again, that the thing about dealing with radar is not mitigating the damage once you are in the trap, but to plan ahead. You even said it yourself: once a radar cruisers sees the cap turning red, he knows there is something. So you also know, when to expect beeing radared. You can use that to your advantage aswell. And remember: radar has a cooldown. Once he used it, you are save for quite a while. btw: I died from beeing hydroed from Chapayev, not radared - as I said before, thats more dangerous. ;)

    Yudachi: before you buy it

Well, more for the DD players that can. Its up to you if you want to trust my words or not. They are not fantasy, I do this all the time. I did it today. I cap & deal with radar once it pops up. Ive said this before and Ill repeat it: Radar is a bigger threat to smoke cruisers and for DDs the actual threat is Hydro. But yea, maybe some people can just deal better with it. I also do this with DDs, that dont have Hydro btw. This evening, taking 2 caps, Radar in the game & CV (who actually tried to stop me, untill he got tired - see plane kills) Here, Ognevoi (not really known to be a gunboat, right) im picking a fight with 2 Lightnings (gunboats, in division, outspotting me by 700 meters) while CV tries to help them and a Radar ship is around the corner:

Not sure what you are critizising. the players? WG? you think, what is said, is happening in this very game? I dont see it. Thus I think, you missed the mark. Unless you wanted to say something else, in which case, it might be usefull to fill that white space aka comment field, with some words. @SmokyButtons.

    Yudachi: before you buy it

Thats fine and dandy about the Z-39. But you are missing the point. I put up that replay because it has 2 exact same situations: meeting enemy DD. and you can literally copy my tactic to your game in Z-52. Then you would have killed the shimakaze in the first encounter without losing hardly any health. You saw the Worcester was 12+km away and he was the only radar in the enemy team. so you had time and the point about radar ships on T10 can be ignored in that situations. But Ill add that to suggestions for playing higher tier DDs (I thought thats a given already): check the enemy ship list and remember their special abilities right when the match starts. Then pay special attention where the radar ships are and in what distance they are to you. Also, remember certain position on maps, where radar ships like to park, when they arent yet spotted and assume, they are there. Islands at caps etc.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Under constant hate from Kurfürst of my team. Because when there is one DD, and he spawns at B, he needs to cap and spot A and C. HE decides that. And yea, how dare I not play for the objective and refuse to spot? Stats disagree tho. Shortly before the end, I asked him, if he maybe wants to review his judgement. The silence was enough for me to.

@Sunleader: Here is a nice example how to work german hydro DDs against enemy DDs: It shows what i mean with hydro/smoke combo and useage of torps. 20190918_202134_PGSD508-Z-39_41_Conquest.wowsreplay

    Yudachi: before you buy it

Ok, my bad, the "yesterday" in combo with 1 am screwed my thinking. been a long day. Anyway. watching your Z-52 game on North right now. couple of things on the fly: - Going for C with that spawn is the right thing. - Torps are a little early. You are clearly headding for the gap in the islands in the cap. Either save them for the DD-encounter (which was likely, since 4 DDs) or throw em later, so they get all they way around the corner and make their way right next to the island, becuase thats the cruiser camping spot - as we see with the Worcester. - You get spotted, you turn hydro on AND smoke + slow down. Because you keep going, you lose way too much health. You throw away the biggest advanatage of the Z-52. Half of you game is gone right there, becuase you lose too much health in a situation, where you shouldnt. - When the Bismarck pushes in, that was already obvious. Bismarck = Hydro = you run. could have escaped to the outside way before the Bismarck had you in hydro range. You hide at the island, which is good, but thats like mittigating the impact of a mistake. You are shut down for the moment and rely on your team to kill the Bismarck. If they cant, you would actually die right there. - The situation up to min 14:45: You dont push with a german DD when your hydro/smoke combo is on cooldown. way too dangerous. Shima spots you and you dont have you tools availabale right away.

    Roon and Hindy. Worth continuing?

Uh, good point... especially, because only now I notice, that OP has less then 800 games played. Maybe a more general advice is in place here then. @EiricBloodgun if you are comfortable with T9, there is nothing wrong staying there. Playing a T10 wont make you invincible, even if the ship is better - you are also expected to carry more when beeing top tier. Also, I dont know about your credit situation, since new players / players with not that many games played often struggle here. If you cant efford the modules f.e. for the Hindy - dont bother with the ship. You will not earn the credits on T10, because a silver ship will usualy cost you money while playing, unless you run premium time, perma camo and/or do EXTREMLY good. T10 isnt like a goal or end game or anything alike either. Having some T10s is mandatory for clanwars and usualy if you want to division with friends/clanmates. Other than that, you can play T9 all day every day without missing anything.

Has all the fuss died down........

Play T4 and you´ll find them Weeeell. Im some cases, this will be true. But in others not so much. Like some guy with 10k games and 46% WR on his acc, but 5k of those in Kamikaze with 56% WR - here I agree. There are a few people like that (with different kind of ships actually, some of them beeing CVs). Also, this is not easy to spot, especially with the data that we have access to. You cant just look at any persons stats, skim through the WR and spot the OP ships. People get better over time, some ships might suit their playstyle more then others, division results, even beeing lucky or unlucky with matches might make a huge difference. This does all reflect in the stats of a player. Often, the opinion is "100 games played is enough to judge" but when you think about it, all you need is 5 games of those 100, where you were really unlucky, getting f.e. 3xBB noob divi OR a 3x super unicum divi that carries you - for that persons stats, it can make the difference of having 55% or 45% Wr on that ship. So lets not give too much weight to individual players stats. I for one absolutly agree. I think in all discussion of this type we need to see the big picture - which is often forgotten. Thats why these "in 1x1 Smolensk will rrpe Minotaur thats why Smolensk is OP" is such a lol statement (actually goes for any of those 1x1 examples, I just picked up something from earlier in this thread).

Has all the fuss died down........

If anything, things like that are rather a sign of a ships OPness, if you ask me. Because it shows the potential and how influencal it can be. When one newb in one certain ship can ruin the game for all other 11, then this ship has too much influence. Ive seen potatos, that show their "skill" on twitch literally sink with 1k or even 0 dmg done in Smolensk. You are assuming, a potato will - drive in the correct position - understand, when and from where he can be spotted - smokes up at the right time AND manages to actually slow down / stay in the smoke. What you call potato here is almost a decent player, that prolly has 50% +/- WR on his account. What potato actually does: - rush ahead....get spotted... shoot at some BB ... dies. or - stays in spawn at 20 km... tries to drag mouse over BB far away... manages at some point... turns broadside to make use of all guns... maybe reverses around a little bit. .. at some point loses game because enemys have 1000 points OR get sniped by a Yamato those are <42% WR potatos. And if anything, they have a negative impact on their teams performance. Is it easier to play then a BB? I dont think so. excusemewtf? unless with "do good" you mean "be super-duper-unicum" (but even then, some players of that level will tell you, its still ez) Id rather say, to NOT do good in CV, you need to work hard - if you get my drift...

aah the passive-aggressivness comes out, because you are scared. here is two things, you might not know: - did you know, I havent played a single solo game in 2 years? On top of that, I didnt make any claims about winning in this thread, so its obvious you are hit by digging that low. - did you know, its against forum rules, to create a second account, when your other is perma banned for violating rules, Drvosjeca Adler?

Has all the fuss died down........

buahahahahahahah. I challenge you then: play 12 games solo Smolensk now abd by the evening we want to see 75% WR and 120k avg dmg.
