Whats a Good Average damage value.
ForlornSailor replied to MadBadDave's topic in General Discussion
These. I cant stress those enough. And many people do it wrong. The target selection (with few exeptions) is pretty easy, it goes like this: DD > Radar cruiser > Other cruiser > BB. And this is pretty much no matter what ship you play yourself. Obviously, you dont want to directly fight a radar cruiser as a DD, but you can spot it for your team, f.e. Unfortunatly, living by this standard, it will lower your damage. Because you might let a broadside BB pass to slap 3 k on a briefly spotted DD. Still, for winning the game, the 3k on the DD is usualy worth more. So @MadBadDave if your intention is, to become a good player, dont focus too much on damage. Focus on target selection first and try to ask yourself constantly: "What do I need to do/can do to win this round?" The damage numbers will poor in by themself sooner or later. -

Explain to me how Sinop is considered OP?
ForlornSailor replied to Floofz's topic in General Discussion
Cant judge that without material aka throw some replays up & you´ll get some feedback. -
In addition to that, something that I suspected a few times I could provoke last week with forseable result. I wonder, if that sounds familiar too: You shoot at a target, that gets undetected while your shot is in the air. Result: Shells fly OVER the target. Situation, that pretty much convinced me, its a bug: im stationary in my BB, a Mino get spotted, ill turn my turrets to shoot, he smokes and slows down. So I shoot, he vanishes in his smoke. Against my usual habit I stay IN zoom, because I know his position and know that my aim is exactly on his cita. So the first salvo completly misses, not one hit and its obvious my shells did not go where I aimed but instead FAR above the target. I wait for reload, hammer at 100% the same spot that Ive shot before at - double cita + some other hits.

Its not fun unless you push the CV through aswell - as the first ofc. Or: you go back and forth 3x during one game. No joke: been there, done that! And no, I wasnt the CV, but I was the BB that told him "ladies first"

WG marketing team is getting creative...
ForlornSailor replied to Tyrendian89's topic in General Discussion
Might be a personal offer? -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
ForlornSailor replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
On a serious note, we did capitalize on that push. Because it made those 3 cruisers finaly move out of position and feed themself to us. If they just would have stayed behind the island, it would have been hard to win the game, since we were like 150 (?) points behind. There was just no way for me in my Leander to go around the corner, somehow engage them successfully and survive. Thats why I took the screen in the original post - that was the turning point, when I knew, we got this. -

Its easy actually... First, what @El2aZeR said above. Second, number of players =/= games played. New players tend to be very active, since they want to explore the game. I know I play way less these days then in my first months, if we look at games per day. So new players can fill games and be the majority quite easily. But they might leave the game within a few weeks, having played like 200 games just to never return.

Its not that people really disagree with you, its more like a realistic view on what WG will do and not. (atleast thats my 5$). Ive said on several occasions, that new players have a horrible time these days and it sucks hard to get into the game. Also, a few events will not change the core problem. And that is the huge advantage, older players have in terms of captains, experiance, clans, divisions, premium ships or even removed premium ships. New player dont even have captains. They cant throw on signals to their liking. So what chance has a new player f.e. in a Nicolas against an experianced Kamikaze, who has LS, RPF, SE, CE, premium consumables and maybe 2 divi mates that back him up? And the naval research bureau brings experainced player back to the lower tiers. What we need is to lower the effect of captain skills for lower tier ships, quite frankly. That will even the playing field at least a little bit. I will start lobbying for this. I think its redicolous that I can throw Yamamoto on my ARP Kongo and enjoy all the nice things. If I want to club low tiers, my experiance is enough, I shouldnt be rewarded even more.

I dont. The pace of jumping from one event to the next and have ranked/CB at the same time is too much for me. I could live with half the events. As in: have a 4 week event, then 4 weeks without anything so that you dont have to play to fforfil quests etc but instead "just play the game". Same about the new lines of ships. I think we are fine with max. 2 lines per year. And we certainly dont need to get up to T8 ships unlocked right away. So im basically with you on your observation/opinion.

ForlornSailor replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
The trend, that I meet people. with whom I argue in the forums ingame, continues. This time it was @Sunleader - normaly, those people are on the opposite side, you got lucky aye? Anyway. That game was a tough cookie, one of the closer ones of the day. Kinda carried. Not sure your super aggressive approach was the right choice (well, I think it wasnt), which I tried to tell you but ok. You had some nice crosshots on that side so it wasnt wasted. Some impressions from the game, when it wasnt won yet & endscore. -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Pff. you just found out how to "actively abuse the matchmaker system to farm more effectively, to the detriment of all other players." :tm: SvR1983. Now share dis secret or feel the wrath of the 40%ers! Those patents are fine and dandy. But what conclusion do you actually paint here? That there is absolutly ZERO difference in skill between the playerbase? Or that some, obviously already better players, are constantly favoured by the matchmaker for.. yea, well, what reason then? Or that premium ships are put in winning teams? But... there are premium ships on both sides like usualy always? And how does the matchmaker ensure, that Kevin in his Tirpitz wins, while he stuggles to do 5k avg damage while eating crayons? How do you explain the screens mtm78 posted - those are all silver ships. Shouldnt he have lost most of those then? Or was he lucky to be on the side, that was pre-selected to win? If so, then how did he manage to hit that side of the coin almost all the time? so many questions but please go on, Id like to hear your explanation. -
I was running BoS myself earlier but it just doesnt seem to be good enough. FP brings more to the table it seems, I didnt want to trust this myself first but yea...
-
Investing into AA is indeed useless these days. Im running this right now (its a 17 pt) and Moskva still loses turrets. JoTa will prolly be the last skill. And im not using DE since I hate Moskva HE. Well, kinda hate Moskva period. Nice in clanbattles but in randoms - urgh.

What @Salentine says. End of story. Oh yea. and DoY = used to be awesome. with AP. Anyway, now, with the raised citadel = nerfed to the ground. Takes citas from the front. -
Oh, I agree - that IS the strenght of the Kremlin. But its a weak spot at the same time. Just drive a DD in the flank and torp it to hell. Or a british DD from the front works aswell. The problem is: many people seem to take the Kremlin-challenge and start to fight her on her terms, aka stationary bow tank her back. And you cant win that fight. Well, that is true. I really went up in laughter one time, when first a Vladi passed my Alaska perfect broadside at 7 km and after that a Missouri. Couldnt cita the Vladi but blew the Missouri right out of the water... imo they should atleast take citas the same way Yamato, Missouri or nowadays Monarch takes.
