Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
You play a lot of high tiers lately, even T10. Your stats however are below average. Like 36k avg damage in a Montana over 8 games just doesnt cut it. Since you take a top tier spot on your team, you have more influence on the game. But your influence is negative. Thus you lose more then you win. Search for some help on the forums, how to get better and avoide mistakes (like open your own topic), check twitch, youtube etc, watch what the unicums are doing. Go back to lower tiers, and train especially your battleship skills there. Then you will win more and also have more fun. -
Matchmaking MUST have a WR% criteria in their algoritam!!!
ForlornSailor replied to GengesKhan's topic in General Discussion
So you are saying... even behind experianced, high stat accounts there are now newbs? Wouldnt that kinda beat your proposal to balance teams by Winrate tho? -
Poll: Do you have Russian/Soviet Legendary Commander "Nikolay Kuznetsov"? If not will you get him for Coal (175K)?
ForlornSailor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Its gonna make a difference in 1 of 500 or 1000 games maybe. In many other cases tho, him healing as a last efford just means more XP for me -
Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

You dont see the point, when he said 46%? But yea, its 65% soon -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
You play a lot solo. Yet your solo WR is 56,55% which is actually really good, especially taking into concideration, you played a lot of "normal" ships. Like your most played solo ships arent Kamikaze, Belfast or alike. On some BBs your damage is a little bit low and those are right away the ships with a lower WR. But it might very well be, that you played these ships long ago so they dont represent your current skill level (im looking at ships like New York or FdG). So you have a clear positive impact on the matches and 56,5% solo - not that many players can get significantly over that. That means, you hit the limitations of what 1 player out of 12 can influence in this game. Advice: play division, OP ship or CVs if you want to get higher Winrate. Id personaly favour Divisions, it was my answer to the lack of intelligence of the average playerbase. The hell I´d play this game solo in randoms anymore, before that Id axe my own PC to pieces. -
Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
ForlornSailor replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
Yes, that is true. Im going to be honest with you and tell you, that I havent played this game solo in randoms for almost 2 years. I couldnt stand it, exactly for the reason, that you are depended on the performance of your team. In a division you can teamplay and you can bring one of each class (well since we have 4 classes one is missing but good compositions are DD/BB/CL or CV/CL/BB). So I can fully understand, that you are fed up, because a huge part of the playerbase is completely egocentric - while we are playing a teambased game. How about your clan? Do you have guys to regulary play divisions with? It took a while for me aswell to find people to play with but slowly, over time, I found people, build up a clan, then joined another and these days I can division with decent players pretty much any time im looking for someone. -
Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
ForlornSailor replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
Well. First about steel ships / premium ships / silver ships: Most silver BBs could do what im doing there. Iowa can do it, Bismarck can do it, Gneisenau could do it even better (because of torps). A few cant or not always, from own experiance. Lion f.e. But about the what players can do and cant. I mean, yea, sure, you have a point. But on the other hand - its not that hard (I think?) and I for once will not keep it a secret how to do. I share what I know, Ill post replays, videos etc so people can have a look and copy it. And thx for the compliment but im far from the best (BB-)players in this game. All I can tell you: you are still new to the game compared to the veterans. Just keep an open mind, check what other good players are doing, youtube, twitch whatever suits you. There are many ways to make it work, this above is just one example. But playing a game like that feels awesome, I can tell you, so thats some motivation on trying to get there. Use the forum to your advantage, ask questions, post your own replays - here are so many helpful people around, ill bet my behind you get a ton of helpful advice and will get better! -

It happens a lot on high tiers. One reason I dont like T10 that much. Mid tiers are often more balanced. Just how it works I guess. -
How does a Shimakaze deal with a CV attack?
ForlornSailor replied to anonym_ED57N4NbHHsY's topic in General Discussion
How to deal with a CV as a Shima? Transform into Gearing. And hope, the enemy CV has never heard about something called "flak". -
Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
ForlornSailor replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
I will argue against that. Because once you played DDs, f.e., you have a feeling how they think. You also start to be aware of the intervall of torpedos, that might be coming your way. I dodge a lot of torps just because my senses are telling me "dude, the next wave is on the way now". And cruisers the same. When you play cruisers, especially the HE-spammers, you always look for the good position, where you are save and can hit many targets. So once youve played cruisers, you will see the map different when playing a BB. You see certain islands and know "there is the Worcester, if he is a good player" and you also know, which places he can reach and which not. Sure, your own ship and the skill of the opponents do matter, if you suceed in a certain position or not, I absolutly agree on that. But still, try to analyse what you did right and the enemys wrong and try to build your future decisions around that. Thats the way to improve and one day you´ll see, that your earlier statement isnt true ;) -
Besides that all: this would reverse the efford made to soften T8 mm (which worked imo) since there wouldnt be anymore T10 only battles? Whats aid there is just focussing on the one positive aspect of 3-5-7 while ignoring the negative as discribed by @thiextar

Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
ForlornSailor replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
Thats because you dont know how to play. Want my replay from yesterday? How I deal with 6 enemys on my flank alone while beeing Missouri? Among them 2 DDs, one of them Asashio who tries to torp me several times? So I understand that not everybody is capable of that and it doesnt always work out perfectly but saying its not possible is plain wrong. Honestly - you have 808 random battles, of them 804 in BBs. You lack knowledge about the game and about the other classes. Thats why you dont understand what they can do and cant do and dont understand how they act. If you want to get better, then stop complaining, get advice and play the other classes! Look at the stats of the best players in this game. They play ALL classes. Why? do understand every detail on how they work. You can only counter something if you know it by heart. This is meant as an advice, not to attack you, btw. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
ForlornSailor replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
And another forumite in a later game - @777_zamani - both him and me in Gearing but on opposite teams. You seemed to have a pretty good game on the A-flank of Northern Lights. I finaly could convince our CV to start spot you and the other DD in A. Until then I was sure we are going to lose, since your teams CV was making my life a living hell, while you killed our BBs. So that was kinda the turning point. gg overall I guess, another tough fight. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
ForlornSailor replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
That was actually one of those games I dont mind losing. A tough fight till the end, yes, our team was overall weaker but many guys on the opponent team did the right thing aswell. Id call the New Orleans on @Gvozdikas team the MVP. I had one shot on him at max range and he managed to dodge. But even if I would have hit the NO there, I think you would have brought it home, it would have just been a little tighter. So yea, gg -
My post was neither a "git gud" nor not constructive. Telling someone "it doesnt work and its not suppose to work" is the opposite of git gud. Also, I told him to actually play DDs (which he doesnt) to understand the class. You cant beat that which you dont understand. Easy as that. And stop defending people that missplay BBs just because you want to defend BBs in general.

Are you having fun, WG? Are you laughing about us now?
ForlornSailor posted a topic in General Discussion
My god, dont know where to start. Talking about Twilight battles now. - You literally encourage griefing - You couldnt have let the portal opened after 3 mins, nooo I have to sit there with my full ship and hide from the m***** sitting with 0 collected filth themself at the portal. - But the ABSOLUTE best thing is: 8 out of 9 guys can have LITERALLY exited the portal, while one guy is having his daily glue on A1 - the game wont end. It just wont freaking end giving me my ship back. And lets face it: with our playerbase, how are the odds to have atleast 1 guy on each game that has no clue how to play the game :) Is this your idea of fun WG? You could have literally made it 3 man PvE event. Still would be grindy af but this is a s***s***.- 70 replies

Pretty much yes. But the thing is: you do this in advance. You know what you secondaries can pen and what not. Then you dont need to think about that in game. btw: do you know what your BB mainguns can pen/overmatch or not? Or how the armor schemes of other BBs and cruisers are?
-
I read: "I demand that my BB is able to rush down any DD without any support and he is not allowed to have a chance. Why? IM A BB, im BIG !! d´oh! oh btw: if its so easy to play a DD and it can finish every enemy to his liking - why dont you play DD then? Should be a piece of cake right?

"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
ForlornSailor replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
You do understand, that he literally was in a game and literally said "I dont like the mm im leaving the game"? Why do I need to repeat this? .... You do know you can see the recent battles of someone? Then what does it tell you if he has played 6 battles on T8 in the last week and 3 times has done 0 damage? And that in combination what is observed aboved? Oh yea, one of the 0 damage games is literally one of them used as an example to create this thread because he effin literally said that he is going to leave the battles at 00:01 which he did. Why do you effin fight this and defend this player? Might it be... you want this button because... you are using the button for the purpose I criticize? A "friend" huh. -
"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
ForlornSailor replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
So then they shall quit the game. As many people have explained here to you: if you need to go afk in rl, there is absolutly no reason to be ready for the next battle 15 sec later. You need to do something in rl = you will shut down your game either way. Its not since his stats clearly show, that he does this in a huge portion of his T8 random games. For obvious reasons, I cant go into details since it will be concidered naming & shaming. But I can tell what his stats show: When I say, his stats clearly point out, that he atleast is leaving 1/3 of his T8 games, then im not far from the truth, I would be willing to bet money on that since its rather more then 1/3 then less. This means, this one person alone has left atleast 1500 T8 games. Again - we are talking ONE person. And if you say "he will go pink / orange for 20 - 40 games". First, he most likely wont, when we plays the 2~3 coop games right away. which he seem to do. Then he goes with a clean sheet back to T8. Low tier againt? Ah well, screw it, 2 more coops. its about the same time that he would invest in playing a serious T8 game. -
What I enjoy most: Playing divi with the guys I know for years, end of list. What I hate most: Idiots on high tiers, people that cant read, cant think, cant teamplay, cant play at all, WG forcing grind after grind on me, stupid min-max-ship designs that are getting more and more, that WG took my favourite scenarion and doesnt bring them back, CV rework, retarded camos that have nothing to do with historical warships aka space camo and alike, shitty port UI (dont want to go into details, we all know the tons of flaws) Im sure I can come up with more but I dont want to sound too negative?

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
The one divison is using a loophole in the system - combine CV + T3 ship to get such a mm. This works, unless there mm finds the same kind of divi to match them - then they can go into a T5 game. But yea, this is just another thing, that shouldnt exit. -
