    Then those players clearly shouldnt play ranked. Since we are talking about ranked here. Heck, they might aswell just play coop if mindlessly shooting stuff is what they are after, no Unicum DDs harassing them there

    You answered your own question: If a ship is harder to play, it should have some form of advantage. And that advantage is having more game impact for DDs, while BBs have less game impact. That being said, Cruisers have basicly same impact as BBs, unless they carry radar, then they have more impact. And making one class hilariously easy to play, while having basicly no disadvantage while being able to rack up decent damage just ruins the game for everyone. Not sure how that is any better. WG made it even easier with deadeye, more and more BBs just do nothing but shoot >20km and still getting 100k damage. Game is telling them: You did good! Why would they EVER learn to become better players?

    If more bad players would play DDs and Cruisers, they would face bad players in DDs and Cruiser aswell, making playing these ships easier. Imo ideal lineup would be something like max 3 BBs, max 3 DDs, rest Cruisers.

    DDs are not waiting for matches - its only BBs. Thats why, every match has 6 out of 14 BBs. So you need 8 non BB ships. Can be 8 Cruisers or 8 DDs or 2 CVs + something else and any combination of those. So lets say the MM has the 6 BBs ready to go, and it needs 8 more ships. DDs entering the queue... more DDs entering queue... now 8 DDs are ready for battle, so game starts with 6 BBs and 8 DDs. And why shouldnt people play DDs? Cruisers are not a counter against BBs, so playing Cruiser can mean, you are the lone Cruiser in a 3 BB/DD game. Thats not much fun, being spotted and having 3 BBs having you as their prime target. DDs and Cruisers are hard to play, because WG is making BBs and CVs easier to play at every turn. And BB players keep whining how OP everything is, and how weak BBs are. So essentially, they are shooting their own foot, because good players will pick a ship, which can deal best with BBs... Well, people are still playing DDs and Cruisers? Even with 100 BBs in queue, waiting time for BBs is max 2 minutes. So every 10 secs a game starts, removing 6 BBs from queue, and taking 2 CVs/up to 8 Cruisers or DDs with them. And some veterans ofc also play BBs, because they are BB players. But majority of average players are picking BBs.

    Not to mention, RTS CVs were significantly stronger against BBs than they are now. Torps often deal much less damage, and flooding got nerfed to the ground. AP bombs still hurt, but not every BB is equal. Also because CVs can easily attack DDs and Cruisers, BBs arent the prime target anymore. And also not having Smoke in the first place French, EU, upcoming germans... who are like minicruisers anyway, only crap.

    Because its ez braindead mode? Every queue is stuffed with BBs now, >100 in randoms, >150 in ranked. Only T6 OPs have more CVs in queue than BBs (obvious reasons).

    Because a lot of players have the mentality: "first ship dies = game is lost" so they start to suicide and get into the next game. Im pretty sure thats what we see in ranked. They have no intention to fight back and try to win, they rather suicide.

  10. Ive played Smaland with a 10 pt captain and shredded 6 out of 7 DDs in 2 games (one was somewhere else, dying alone)

  12. I also wonder, which most popular ship is the best fire starter AND tends to hit any ship for 10k salvos every 23 secs? First nerf Cruisers and DDs, then make BB which is better Cruiser in basicly every way. So to replace Thunderer, we will get a BB which becomes the best DD? Something like Kitakami, only with Kremlin-type hull And speedboost... and TRBR. And <10km concealment, because we just move Kremlin even lower in the water. I think i should stop now, otherwise WG will pick up on my genious idea

    So how does single tier MM change the issue? We had T8 only in the first season, and queue looked EXACTLY the same way. If you want to change that, WG needs to stop pampering the BBaby crowd... good joke i know

    I hate having bad concealment on Cruisers. I always try to play close to caps at the start to get an advantage for my DDs by helping them. The increase in damage is always questionable in my book, especially because saturation is a thing. Did play yesterday, and got 170k damage. Would i have gotten 187k instead? Not really... I can think of one case, where it might have made a small difference. I had farmed a Wooster for 46k damage, and he was sitting at an island with something like <4k. Theoratically, he might have been dead if i would have dealt 10% more damage. But it still made hardly any difference, because we were rushing him together with a Yamato. Only our Shima was greedy and started to gunboat him to kill him first Other than that, i dont see it making any difference. Well, maybe on a Monty which had like 9k HP and i shot him a bit he survived with 260 HP and my teammate got the kill instead. So i lost a kill for not taking the skill pretty much. Instead i ran RPF and knew where the DDs were moving, which is quite helpful aswell. Not too bad if you can tell your division DD (or teammates, if they learned the fine art of reading ) where the closest target is.

    Its 10% more damage btw. Imo hardly worth it, considering the downsides. Thats why i would only use it on those ships, which dont get the penalty.

    Probably WGs way of fixing Cruisers getting too close and dying (or killing DDs). Just go no-concealment full-dakka build, and sit at maxrange - like the BBs

    Thats basicly what im thinking aswell. The only BBs that might move closer are those, which you cant pen with IFHE anyway (germans, russians). And others which you can pen, like conkeks, thundelel and baguettes, they sit in the back of the map slinging HE. So ill probably not use IFHE anymore, atleast on hightiers.

    Playing BB didnt work at all for me, because my DDs just suicide (or are AFK). Then more teammates suicide, because i assume they think its a loss and they want to get into the next game. So i play DD instead, kill enemy DD(s) get the caps, and suddenly my team stops suiciding and its ez wins.

    Yamato sisters and Izumo have 57mm deck aswell. Still kinda questionable id say. I didnt take IFHE on Smolensk after they buffed cruiser platings and changed MM so you get a lot of T10 only battles. You hardly get anything out of the 28mm pen, because CAs have 30mm midsection now. You can pen their bows/stern, but hitting those is kinda questionable, better to farm superstructure for more hits if you want to shoot Cruisers. Or just hope they show broadside and use AP for even better results. If you shoot T8-9 Cruisers, then IFHE would help. Same for Colbert. Generally for Atlanta it would make sense, because you get 26mm pen. So that helps against T6-7 BBs and T8-9 Cruisers (and against certain T6-7 Cruisers i believe). But since T7 gets uptiered quite often, so its questionable again....
  21. XP is based on %health, not abolute value. One DD is same XP as one BB. So lets say a DD has 15k HP and you deal 5k damage, its the same as you would deal 20k from a 60k HP BB. Also killing DDs wins games, and winning gives more XP.

    Works for me, because my fireluck is: get 2 fires, enemy DCPs, then get no fires anymore Got 3 fires that game, and the game after that i got also 3 fires with <100 secondary hits, so its only luck. I prefer direct damage over luck.

    IFHE pommern. Bayern and Gneisenau dont need IFHE. Gneisenau has 128mm secs which pen 32mm. Bayern has smaller secs, but with 26mm pen its usually enough, except you face T8 BBs (which has its own problems ofc). Scharn, Bismarck, Tirpitz, FDG and Pommern have 105mm secs which profit from IFHE.
