Giving this some thought lately, and i think it might be a bit more interesting in regards of using skills on captains, but lets explain my idea first. - Make captain skills so that u can level each skill multiple times, why is the benefit at maximum by only one time skilling it? F.e. Expert loader u could invest 1 point for 15% faster shell switching, 2 points for 30% and 3 points for 50%. - This would ofc need to have more captain skills available, its roughly 4 times as much with the system i think of. Captains level faster, which makes the grind seem less long, even when the endresult stays the same. - Introduce skill-trees, which means if u want a certain skill, u have to skill other skills before. This cant work for all skills, but some skills could be seperated and they can be skilled seperately on which skill-tree u focus (f.e. CE is one that comes to mind) Just made a quick example for CV skill trees (because seems the easiest to show my idea) First skill needs 1-6 skill points to achieve maximum (1 point then 2 points then 3 points to achieve maximum result per skill), second skill needs 2-9 points, third skill 3-12 and forth skill 4-15 points total. F.e. 4 points on AS gives u +1 fighter, 5 points gives extra bomber and 6 points extra Torpedobomber (just an example) What it makes possible, if u are halfway skilling offensive skills, and u feel the need to get some defense, u can start skilling those a bit to help u on that side.

[Bug] Steven Seagal + Expert Loader + AR

Yes if u see it like that. unfurtunately it wasnt like they answered it, because they accnowledged, the skill was active. They rather meant i couldnt shoot because it was lagging, thats how i understand it. I tried to narrow it down as good as possible, i switch ammo with 0,2 sec after all battery guns were reloaded, that would equal a ping of 200ms delay...- 9 replies

Have they nerfed the Missouri?!
DFens_666 replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Yep, so much this. I wanted to start a topic myself, but i was afraid of getting tinfoilhat-tagged myself, so why bother. Most of those ppl probably dont have the MIssouri and still say u are wrong and everything is fine, and its your fault... so no need to make that topic. Well now that u did: I support your claim. Its awful lately. Sometimes i get good salvos, but usually its worse than compared to a Bismarck. Just a game right now Saint-Louis 12 km full broadside i hit 2 shells (the dispersion was all over the place) and did 2700 damage. Basicly i get overpens all the time lately. Everything full broadside is overpens. Or yesterday Montana is like noobing around hitting an island 4 km ahead of me full broadside, i was angled so only front turrets: First Salvo 1 Pen 1 overpen 5k damage like LOL? Second salvo even worse 1 Pen 1 overpen 1k damage... i wasnt even aiming at the waterline, still splashed in the water. Another match yesterday Ibuki turns out full broadside 4 overpens where his citadelle should be... not fun at all, if u need an entire match to deal ~100k damage. -

Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults
DFens_666 replied to Drone81's topic in General Discussion
The Cap circle is bigger than 1m, even tho he is in there and everyone knows that something is in there, getting a spot on him and being able to shoot him and make him use his smoke or make him retreat is highly valuable. When he is in the smoke and he is parking there, one of your DDs can torp him thus making him leave the smoke, which means he can get shot at again. DDs cant heal (well basicly, 2 can Khaba and Kidd), so every damage on them counts. Only knowing roughly where a DD is, is only benefitting u that u know that u have be careful about getting torped, still u cant defend yourself against him since u cant shoot him. Ye so how is spotting him and making him use smoke a bad thing then? Or 5 mins to lose one. Lets make a general rule about this: Your WR is that low, because when u need to make a play happen, u wont do it. U rather stick to your own plan and dont seem to change it, f.e. i guess u ALWAYS start all your planes and then move in one big blob somewhere? Maybe thats already a misplay, but obviously u dont consider that. A DD would need to hug the border to harass the enemy Ships from the beginning, which makes him absolutely useless. I suggest u learn about DD play more. Capping is not bad in general, going blindly into a cap, smoking and sitting there is. If there is a CV, sure u can slow down a little. But when the enemy is in several other caps, u cant just sit there and wait it out, or flank around. Because once the enemy gets the cap, and realises, hey nothing is there, i can just push through and torp the enemies in spawn, and the CV wont even spot me, then the enemy got advantage by 1) having a Cap 2) Having a DD which can roam free 3) Your own DD is stuck somwhere in nowhere, where spotting is useless and getting meaningful torpdamage is also pretty low chance. In this particular battle there were no Cruisers - only the Mogami. He was in B. U go to B with planes and spot him, your BBs will gladly fire at him, because he is a Cruiser and squishy. DDs air spotting range is 3-4km (roughly i guess) so the plane MUST be pretty close in order to spot that DD. If its a RU/US DD there is a good chance he might be using DefAA, so fighting ontop of him (maybe him in smoke) will give u a huge bonus killing the enemy Fighters. -
Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults
DFens_666 replied to Drone81's topic in General Discussion
Thx for the Replay Alltho it wasnt me who is playing CV Was just giving advice here, well back to topic: @Drone81 READ WHAT @pra3y is saying! He is spot on about what u are doing. In the beginning the enemy Spots B+C and finds your DDs, while u dont help them. They are locked at the position, and the DD at C gets rushed down and killed. U protect your Bomber with your fighters (so i was right), and u wait till all your planes are in the air. The enemy has already vital information, while u are basicly idle with your planes. Your 3 kills and Damage means nothing - The game was already lost when u killed the Yamato and Shima. If u would have spotted B @RAHJAILARI could have been killed or forced to retreat. That your BBs played like cowards is not your fault, but not spotting DDs is. Maybe they would have played differently if they knew there the DDs were. Where is the problem with that? I ALWAYS ping the minimap if i have a feeling or know where the DD is so my CV knows where to go. Its much better than me typing a whole story book and checking which squares the DD might be in... -

Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults
DFens_666 replied to Drone81's topic in General Discussion
Hard to judge a game solely by screens. But before i continue: Everyone has games where they have outstanding damage, and still lost. In the end, this makes sense. Because if your team would have been better, u couldnt have made that damage, since your team would have dont it aswell. In case of the screens it seems like: Neither of you CVs did really engage each other, 7 and 19 plane kills aint that much. He got a kill also (looking at his stats, the enemy is not a unicum CV either). U got high damage and 3 kills. The easiest targets were the Bismarcks, and since there are only 5 killed ships on the enemy team, i just think u killed those? Look at the enemy DDs, 2 of em got 2 kills, Shima has no kills but good XP, so probably he got a decent amount of damage aswell. Your own DDs didnt do that well id say. I think u would have had a bigger impact helping your team fend off the enemy DDs. But i could be wrong, since im only looking at a screenshot here. Best way would be a replay. -
Id go as far as basicly all skills could potentially be reworked as multi-layer skills - except for skills which are interacting with enemy ships and SI. These skills are IFA, PT and RPF, because they dont provide a bonus to your own ship, instead they tell u something about what the enemy is doing. AS is a bit in between, since it gives +1 Fighter/Bomber currently, and with 3 levels it would basicly mean the 3rd level needs to add a TB. OR 3rd level could give u 2 extra hangar spaces f.e. Manual AA could be introduced as increased bonus (currently 100%, might be 25-60-100% in a 3-level system), or the other option would be to decrease the overall bonus (from 100% to lets say 30%) and give each level a different AA Caliber 1. Up to 39mm caliber guns 2. 40-80mm caliber guns 3. above 80mm guns just an example, not sure what different calibers exist currently, 20 40 80 127 152 come to mind

Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults
DFens_666 replied to Drone81's topic in General Discussion
CVs are the most influential Class. Your WR in CVs is much lower than in the other classes. So that means, u must be doing something wrong. Maybe they are right? And its not about playing personal AA for them. Maybe they are crying for u to spot a DD? The problem is, many bad CV players just play like selfish bastards. They fly at the border of the map to snipe the enemy CV. They only guard their own strike planes with their fighters. They attack a blob of enemy ships / strike an AA Cruiser. They try to drop a DD but fail miserably, and instead of spotting that DD for their teammates, they retreat with their planes to try to kill the DD by themselves later. Not saying this is what u are doing, but this is the stuff which makes a lot of players raging against CVs.- 299 replies

A BB with radar was a great idea, right guys?
DFens_666 replied to Tekacko's topic in General Discussion
This makes sense when u compare BB numbers to Cruiser numbers on higher Tiers. The amount of BBs is just too high, so that MM must take lower tier Cruisers to fill the match. -

SHould see my games lately when i push into an aggressive position with my Missouri... DD in Cap 8~km in front of me, i shoot... Ping target.... ping again... nothing happens?... hello its still 15 sec radar... DD going full broadside to several ships... i shoot my 2nd salvo... DD disappears like wtf? -

DFens_666 replied to Tekacko's topic in General Discussion
Even while true, trading a DD for half of your HP from a BB is still worth it imo. Sadly, noone seems to shoot DDs anymore, so its only worthwhile when in a Division with a Cruiser or DD, who can shoot the DD when radared... -

I had it one time playing the halloween event with a CV ofc. Was turning around at start, at a couple of mins i was wondering, why my CV is still doing the turn. Well didnt think much about it, till i realized he did the turn again lol... But that was the only time it ever happened to me.

http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc/0100000000000010000001000000100119 Currently like this. Not really sure where i put the last 5 points... With the last free cptn reskill i already removed EM, because Mino doesnt need it, and frankly, neptune can live without aswell. Same reason i took AFT not MFAA. Probably will take BFT when i have 17 points (need a bit more XP till that) and for the last 2... not sure. I guess JOAT. Yes i agree, the 6,4km on neptune is pretty messed up. But ive realized, that some BBs (seems like usually its BBs) try to be smartass and rush u down (like the vid one example) because they think u will show yourself. Other example was a Yamato bowtanking against our last ships, but we had an island between each other. So he moved forward and peeked around the island thinking he can catch me. I stopped shooting, launched torps, he died

No need to split it up any further: Basicly we could argue forever, neither of us will change our oppinion about skill-trees, so might aswell stop right there. Stil about the AS Saipan: Firstoff, he can switch Loadouts with one click, so having captain skills which are valuable for another loadout is not stupid. (less stupid than playing AS) Second, there are no skills beyond a couple that would benefit an AS Saipan - might aswell take the Torpedo-skills. (Premium CV can use cptn on another CV too...) Oh forgot about "personal" builds: Like when WG shows BB cptns using Expert Rear Gunner? Sure i could deliberately click on any skill or skill all 1-point-skills to have my personal-build, doesnt make it less stupid and totaly suboptimal. Basicly every ship has a more or less optimal build currently. The only question is: Do i have points to spare in the end, or do i need to cutback on something? And only then might come personal builds in place, when i have poins to spare. Not even talking about stupid cptn builds here, i guess there are plenty around of those... HP Perk BBs anyone?

45 degree angle isnt enough to bounce shells. Its like this: 0-30 degrees -> auto ricochet (0-22.5 for USN 8" shells) 30-45 degrees -> chance to ricochet (22.5-30 for USN 8" shells) 45-90 degrees -> ricochet doesn't occur (30-90 for USN 8" shells) And then there is Overmatch mechanics. When the caliber is 14,3 times higher than the armor, it will automatically penetrate that part. F.e. RN CLs have 16mm Bow/Stern Armor. Any caliber bigger then 229mm (only BBs and Henri IV) can overmatch it, thus u cant angle against it. Only option is to angle with your citadel armor belt which has 102mm plating. This can bounce any shell in the game with the correct angle, which protects your citadel. But wont protect you from damage if the shell hit Bow/Stern/Upper Belt. IN the video f.e. when the Große Kurfürst shoots me, i make a mistake at showing my flat stern. He penetrates it and even citadels me.
-
Do u have a reply from one of your games? Yes, this is special for me too, but maybe it helps u? Didnt have another at hand, but got some Fiji videos too, but itll take some time to upload. General rules for RN CLs: Dont go alone. Follow your DDs. If u kill the enemy DD, u have much more freedom. And RN CLs are aweseome DD hunters. Map awareness is key to playing RN Cls. Always have an escape route available when u smoke, because everyone likes to shoot at RN CLs. Angling is very important, u might still eat damage, but not massive citadel damage when u show full broadside.
-
Serious tho: I can understand that till T5 when someone says, RN CLs are crap, thats a given. But Leander + Fiji? They are pure awesome. The RN ships are probably hardest to master from all Cruiser lines, but when u get it right, they are totaly devastating. Sure, if u want them buff, im all in for it But i dont think u quiet thought this one through for ppl who actually can play those ships...

No, usually u will get more battles being pink the more Teamkills u do.

As u might have seen in my first post, i already did that part, but because i didnt have more time, i was forced to make a quick illustration, which i copy&Pasted into the next picture with little adjustment. How come u didnt wonder that my first picture showed FP as a CV skill? And where did i say this would be the non-plus-ultra version of it? U are argueing about how the skills are arranged basicly, which is no arguement against the idea itself but against the presentation. No it isnt. If u want a skill locked behind a less usefull (or several less usefull) skill u only have to determine if a) is it worth to invest x points (not more than first level) into this skill or b) in which skill should i invest x points in order to get to my desired skill. If i have more skill points than i need for a specific build (in which i can choose myself if i invest points for all skill to level 3), then the amount of points most certainly do matter, because then it doesnt matter if i pump 3 points into a skill which i dont need that much. Because id have the points to spare anyway. And your example about the HP skill makes no sense in that regard either. Currently if i play BB/CA/CV this skill is basicly totaly useless, and only an option for DDs. Basicly any other skill is better than this one, even if i currently would have points to spare when i finished my build. If a skill would have 3 levels and a useful skill is locked behind it, i would only need to look at option number one: Is 3 points worth it for 100Hp/Tier in order to unlock the skill i want? Btw currently i dont see that many option in captain builds either. Cruisers with Caliber below x need IFHE. Many Cruisers benefit from DE. Almost all ships benefit from skills like CE or SI. We could even say the current Meta forces BBs to take FP. For 2pt skills many ppl take EM or AR anyway as first choice, except DDs who usually take LS. Even PT as first row skill is usefull for most ships because: DDs benefit from knowing how many ppl are shooting at them when targeted, CAs also, BBs might take PM but then again i think PT is still better, since BBs have strong armor which prevents module breaking anyway. Oh and about the CV skills: I dont know how u skill your CVs, but since there arent that many CV skills around, i wonder what u take instead of TA/TAE... Since US CVs got stripped of AS/Strike setup, every CV has atleast one TB anyway. So saying AS is locked behind "useless" Torpedo skills is pretty much stupid. And then again its a matter of presentation: AS could aswell be accessable from both CV skill-trees as 4th point skill, since there isnt really a defensive CV skill currently ingame.

Least fun: Id go with Hipper back then, when it didnt have the buffs it has now. Even when they are minor buffs, used correctly can give u the edge u need. Currently... Not playing so many unfun ships anymore. Bismarck sometimes feel like a pain in the [edited]because german dispersion. BB in general when dispersion is against u. Most fun: Hindenburg and Neptune atm.
