Thats kinda the problem with having more shiplines / more gimmicks in the game which are divided into different roles. Asashio is probably the best example for that: What does it do when there are only 2 BBs in the game? While others arent so forced into one role, i like more Cruisers in the game when i play Hindenburg f.e.. Sometimes you have those 5DD/BB + 2 cruiser games, where you are almost forced to shoot HE all the time. If you can survive the BB shells and possible torps, you might get to shoot BB broadside with AP, but certainly less fun that having more Cruisers to shoot at.

Rightful Heir to the Cleveland in Operations?
DFens_666 replied to Lord0's topic in General Discussion
Lets not forget about the heal Also single launched torps are nice on the kaiser sitting in the harbour. Strong equivalent to HE spamming it. -
Thats what i am/will be wondering: Will the hype go down for them? They are just very strong, especially Worcester. What makes me play other Cruisers on hightiers if i could choose between them, which i currently cant, but i can argue from a position which i would like to have: - Hindenburg i had first, and ofc its a very good allrounder. Different playstyle than Worcester, so i would play both - Minotaur was my second one, and comparing it to Worcester, id go with the latter. - Henri IV: Dont have it, dont want it. Im at Algerie and dont see any reason to grind it. - Moskva: Kinda the same as above, my division mate has one anyway, im at Shchors so... - DM: Im further away from that than Worcester (+ Worcester has perma Sharks camo since today ) so why grind that? Played 1 battle NO so far, dont really dig that. - Zao: Hmm, i dont feel like going for it. Basicly its long range HE slinging, or stealth torping. Id rather take Hindenburg anytime. Or i even would go for Conqueror - Worcester: At seattle now, and this one already feels pretty strong. From a perspective of game influence, i rate this probably the highest from them all. Depending on division, either this or Hindenburg. So thats how i see it. They are here, and i feel many ppl will continue to play them.

For me there is only one BB more frustrating to play than Bismarck was: and thats FDG. Bismarck had its moments when you are toptier, and the secondaries are fun, but FDG practically being in TX matches all the time, i dont feel the secondary vibe on that one. Just too far away, and lets face it, you go that close alone you are dead within a minute. And the guns are just too trollish on those 2 to stay sane while fighting from longrange Worcester? Or US CLs in general. Which are being played a lot lately. Look back before them: US CAs did have equal radar duration, but NO and Balti didnt have enough firepower by themselves, even when they basicly had radar range = spotting range. DM has what, 700m buffer with his concealment? Then you have Cleveland, Seattle and Worcester which can almost stealth Radar basicly. So the ones doing it before (also Chapa) werent really played that much as it seems to me. NO was considered bad anyway.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

What can you do when half your BBs yolo in? Kinda weird to see that anyway, as they usually camp in the back -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Nice, my first one despite playing operations quite frequently. First time Ryujo, damage output is awesome, but i kinda struggle with AA defense, way easier to do in Indy! Those fighters dont have much ammo -
Ask that one of the potatoes, i dont think they would care or even understand it The problem for those players is ofc, that they cant really hit DDs reliably, or they feel dealing only a couple of k is not worth it. While infact, its the most important damage from all.
-
Exactly the reason ppl should focus on the real problem (aka Worcester and some others) instead of trying to "fix" Radar. Ofc its more prevalent now because the line just got released, but lets face it, Worcester is pretty strong (for me it seems OP, but everyone shall judge for themselves), because of all the gimmicks it has. So maybe the number of Radars wont drop so much in time?
-
Since most BBs tend to be very immobile (), i think its possible, since you will most likely engange only them. But the other thing you have to consider: You can get spotted easier by having a longer firing range!
-
Then backline camping would literally need to not give any rewards at all, since i believe those ppl are fine with what they get currently, since they are losing more often than winning. Basicly you would need to have areas on the map, which give an extra boost in rewards to MAYBE teach them something. But im still hesitent to believe if they would learn. Frankly, i see WG going in the wrong direction anyway. HE spamming becomming more viable all the time (first RN BBs, which encouraged other nations BB players, then things like Worcester and soon Harugumo) There is no DCP management against that. The only tactic is to stay out of the range from them, or run away once you are in the range. A little bit HE spam is fine, but more HE spam makes HE exponentially stronger, since you just cant ignore it anymore. You can DCP 3 fires, and within the next 30 sec after CD you have 3 again. The high RoF is not justified by the lower fire chance. More HE will only encourage more camping.
-
Pretty sure that it doesnt. If it would, then you would need to be detected when the game tells you that you arent. Easiest to check with BBs ofc, since they vanish from side between salvos. And with them its certainly 20 secs and not more, even tho it should be more?
-
In that sentence lies the issue with LoS Radar: You can only shoot something, which is NOT sitting behind an Island. Currently any Radar can counter that tactic, if the Island is close enough. I mean, if you use that tactic and sit all the time at the same spot, i dont consider it to be a viable winning tactic. Only then when the enemies are constantly feeding themselves/rushing towards your smoke. But with LoS Radar, you are right: The target gets spotted because it has to be in the open in order to spot you, thus making himself a target towards you. WIthout LoS Radar, any Island is sufficient to block your fire.
-
But the problem is, the bad players draw the wrong conclusions from what happens in the game: They try to support: they die because they dont know how far they can push or how to retreat in time and heal back up Conclusion? Dont get so close. Now they start to camp in the back. Which results in more losses. Conclusion? Blame your teammates since they are dieing now without proper support, but they dont understand the connection. So by camping in the back you are much safer from enemy fire, atleast till the end, and they think they are right playing that way.

When you play couple of battles, its very likely that you have SPESHUUL teams all the time. By that time, im already semi insane and want to delete WoWs. When you actually see ppl failing Coop, you would understand that Alltho, playing coop doesnt make you go nuts nearly as bad as having to deal with that crap in randoms.
-
The best example would be: Ppl going imaginary D on northern lights... even when there is no freaking cap! Same example is valid for ANY standard battle, where ppl still go to the same places like they go in domination mode, even when there is no Cap Lately had Land of Fire couple of times Standard Battle. 60% of the players go behind the islands where C cap normaly is Why? I dont know, they dont understand game modes. Lately ive come to the conclusion, that it might have something to do with the fact, that you cant choose game mode you want to play. You dont see shooter players going for imaginary flag (like Capture the flag) when they are playing TDM. (neither would they hump the walls, but lets not get into this ) Did you hear Flambass in the beginning? No Radar, no Hydro DD. Radar is the best way to punish this thing. Having LoS Radar however, will once again strenghten the hold of that playstyle. Why? Because random players would have to risk their own [edited]in order to Radar them. Or even worse, they sit behind an Island (like when they hydroed by Hindenburg), so meaning you would need to get even deeper in order to Radar them. Big problem right there: - Not one random player will risk their own ship for the tiny possibility of getting them killed. Also you can swap Worcester for DM and potentially get much better results (i checked, Worc has 6km debuff in smoke, which is like RN CLs)
-
And with Radar gone, what stops that kinda play from happening? Take Yueyang, park a Worcester or DM (lets assume it would have no Radar) in the smoke. The DD can just stay OUTSIDE the smoke and spot everything being close. Put a CV in that division which can spot Torps/DDs being close, since enemy CV cant go to that smoked up AA Worcester/DM bubble, and finaly rape everything. Worcester might work better than DM because it only has like 5,7 smoke debuff or something like that. So... you wanna stick with your logic
-
From your screen you went in the direction of A, which indicates you went somewhere there. but not only did your team only have 2 DDs, you even went behind islands not spotting for some time AND not contesting any cap? How do you expect your team to win like that?
-
Id love to see the replay... Okinawa is a pretty favorable map against Radar ships, when you take B/C its pretty hard to Radar and not overextend. Moskvas get spotted 2 km before they can radar (and even then they would need some kinda indication that they are able to Radar something (cap boundaries or smoke). If the Radar ships got backup, then the enemy team was just plain better. Id understand the radar unbalance on another map and/or other ships than Moskvas. Since from your screen showing you went A, id say wrong cap?

After being pretty mad, that we lost first round with me playing Fiji (basicly came down to a Farragut who didnt die with 1,5k Health despite several pens, and ended up with 2xx Health which i had to chase down but we lost by like 20 points because of that ~~) i went yolo nuts the second round: After a slow start, enemies got A and B cap, C was untouched first, it looked pretty bad again. Down 3 ships and 0 caps, some of us rushed through B, then i was like ok time to go too: 1. Torped the Iron duke at 1,5km around the corner, next Yorck which was sitting close to C. 2. Fuso was getting into C, beached "hello, you like more torps?" 3. RPF points behind the islands at C "oh 2 DDs, you like to die heh?" 4. Gneisenau was steaming towards me, but got heavily punished simultaniously by our DoY and Fuso, so i kinda wasted my smoke and grabbed the kill. Sadly, i didnt get the NM, who was running away, because of damage saturation a dozen pens with 0 damage or so. -
wow, you guys must have too much time on your hand, or you are ignoring/not able to understand the initial statement: Someone said: WR is a good indicator of player skill. END PERIOD NOTHING MORE!!! He didnt say only in context with other stats. And its not. Now we have multiple ppl argueing about the same stuff (all agreeing with each other) that you have to consider OTHER FACTORS! at the same time to get a decent picture of that players skill.

AP close range on broadside targets - aim under waterline - faulty mechanic
DFens_666 replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Moskva gets easily devastated when it shows broadside. Clearly not the type or Cruiser we are talking about here. However, US CLs being bow on tend to eat more consistant damage, even when you only hit a couple of shells. -
Might be more boring to do the same task over and over again, but far less frustrating. I rather have a steady progress than to gamble/luck my way through them and play 10 battles in between without any progress. Since i do that, i feel ive been progressing much faster trough the campaigns than the way i did it before, aka doing the hard tasts aswell. Im almost at Halsey 4th stage, and basicly so far ive been doing the credit mission and commander XP missions all the time.

AP close range on broadside targets - aim under waterline - faulty mechanic
DFens_666 replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
US CLs are definetely too hard to citadel. Im with @loppantorkel on this one. I dont think broadsiding should be a viable option to receive less damage. But looking at French Cruisers, they already implemented that way back. With CAs however, i disagree. I wouldnt load HE. Yes, they dont receive too many citadels in one salvo either, but with the faster reload compared to BBs they tend to die anyway, alltho not fast enough imo. -
Normaly id say, it should decline again, but seeing as worcester is kinda unbalanced, i feel they are here to stay, and maybe it gets even worse...
