Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
DFens_666 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
We met @Taliesn with our Div ( @ForlornSailor and @WolfGewehr) I wondered about our T10 BBs (what else is new?). I was doomed to shoot DDs all the time in my Amagi, but that didnt help either -
If they would think whom this actually helps, they might rethink that. But obviously its those 500 million credit whales who have all T10 ships and a fleet of Premiums, who are in dire need to save on consumables It would be much better for those players who have only few credits and it would help their performance.

Maybe WG should just allow us to buy like 100 of them to stockpile atleast a little bit.

1. Thats why the radar range nerf to US CLs was good. Also, you can spot them further away if they are shooting. When they are not shooting, then they would be technically more useless than the DD, because you said it yourself, that DDs tend to deal less damage. 2. First you said, BBs are sitting stationary or reverse most of the time in toptier battles... so you should hit them right? Pick one plz, you are contradicting yourself. Also you can hit targets aswell who are actively dodging. If you feel the need to throw the torps where the game tells you to, then its your choice. If someone is actively dodging, then try to observe a pattern, or look at a spot where he HAS to turn (because islands). Or atleast rule out the most unlikely move he would do, and throw torps accordingly. That way, only noobs might dodge your torps while dieing to your teammates Predicting enemy movement 101: The Marblehead was moving in a straight line because of the Island. I expected him to turn out, because it makes more sense, otherwise he would rush into our BBs. By moving away from us, he would get into cover. I threw the torps further ahead, devstriking him
-
Yes it is balanced. Because if you spot for me first, then i can kill the targets which are a threat to you, which are DDs/Radar Cruiser. If those are gone, you are free to torp all the back line BBs and farm the damage on them, which i dont get because you will You know, this is the way its supposed to be right?
-
So if he is stupid, why should he win the engagement? I guess you imply that PT only works when guns are pointing at you, and not torps. Well, it says so in the description of the skill, so if someone doesnt know that, then its actually his own fault. I agree that WG keeps vital informations hidden more often, but not with this one. If you attack a BB pointing the guns at him, switch to torps and throw them, and THEN turn back to guns, your fault that the BB turns immediately. Ppl argue how stupid BB players are, but if you are giving that info (which they still need to understand!), then you cant say how stupid they are, *edited

So now you want to smoke gunboat vs a Radar Cruiser? wow.... I dont even attempt that in a Radar RN CL unless i feel safe enough to not get into his radar range... and that is questionable for other reasons.

And how does MIssouri now if the DD is at < or > 9,45km? If you are permaspotted in a Missouri, the DD could aswell be at 11,5km, then the radar doesnt do anything. Ofc the DD doesnt know if the Missouri popped Radar, so neither stands to gain anything by it. If you choose to attack the Missouri, then you have to take the risk that he might pop his radar at some point - or not. And then again: Why should a DD blast EVERY ship in the game back to port? Can i cry aswell that in my Hindenburg i cant yolo rush a Republique, while i can "easily" do that to a Montana? Just because i can do one, doesnt justify that i should be able to do it to everyone. Missouri is not your prime target as a DD, even tho its a BB. You can argue if its right or not, but its the way it is. If a DD bangs his head against the wall, because he feels the need to kill that BB, then you have to take the risk. And lets fact it, that risk isnt great. If the Missouri does catch you, then he simply outplayed you - period. As for the Moskva: Even worse, its a Cruiser (hey, you want to counter BBs, here is a counter for DDs, and not even the best one tbf), but it cant radar you if you choose to spot it. Spot it for your team, let them handle it. If your team fails to do that. tough luck. Maybe you dont deserve to win then?

Only because you dont understand my arguement doesn make it less true

How to improve your Personal Rating (PR) - Stop Playing!
DFens_666 replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Yes ive seen this aswell. Could also be, that some ships are actually getting powercreeped, despite everyone denying this F.e. i checked my König, where i have 300-400 better PR now, than when i played it You can see that, when you check the ranking on wows.numbers. It wont update there unless you play the ship. But on your personal statside, it does update.- 6 replies

Its probably a thing you have to experience to actually believe it. I didnt consider it that much before i purchased Musashi (could have earlier, but i was hesitent, because of same doubts you had). But the guns dont feel inaccurate to me. The usual BB stuff, but pretty much reliable citadels on BBs even at long ranges >18+ is very good imo. I personaly dont have Yamato, so i cant comment on that.
-
If you are not capping, sitting behind an Island is the worst you can do as a DD. Even inside the Cap, its only advisable if you are in danger of getting radared. Im not complaining about DDs using cover against shots/radar - i complain about DDs using island cover for no apparent reason.
-
What i dont like thats its basicly in the Holiday season... ppl got other stuff to do than sit 24/7 at their PC playing WoWs If it would start now and ends before Xmas, it would be great imo.
-
Personaly i could have dont the same, but i rather took the Musashi. I dont necessarily want to FreeXP ships (did it only with FDG, because garbage), so i value a special ship higher than getting something else faster. Musashi is totaly different to Missouri. Id say if you play Solo, Missouri gives you more options, but in a Division, Musashi is better. Yamato might be better than Musashi, but in a match, where you essentially are a T10 ship while the enemies have a T9 ship, id say Musashi is actually better. As i got both Kronshtadt and Musashi fairly recently, i rate Musashi higher in the fun departement. Kronshtadt is just a bit on the "meh" side.

Oh ye, i missed the word Bow in there wanted to point that out because someone else mentioned about something about bow on to the enemy.

Nelson is pretty strong if you know what you are doing^^ The Citadel is MASSIVE, and it cant bounce any other big caliber shells (No T8+ BB, and some T6+T7 BBs too)

Sunk without being hit! Please help with technical explanation
DFens_666 replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
You know when this was supposed to be changed? -
Scharnhorst has rather small guns, which makes it exceptionally good against Cruisers. But rather bad against angled BBs. Nelson has big guns, so it can deal well with angled BBs (up to and inculding T7) If you are facing T8+T9 BBs then you could spam HE at them, which is also pretty strong.
-
Try to get one of your DDs to give you a smokescreen on the way to a cap. That way, you can use your radar from stealth against enemy DDs (that is if there is something coming your way) Otherwise you can only try to survive.

DFens_666 replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Guess you detonated. Have seen that a couple of times. -
Yes, i believe so. Id say you missed out easily on ~4 salvos in between, and a bit smarter play in the end might have gotten you more damage aswell.

Usually the green position gives you more versatility. If you go behind the island where you went, it basicly only benefits you if the enemies are actively pushing into C, so you could flank around and get their broadsides. This rarely happens. In this case, it happened too late and your side didnt have enough power to stop them anyway. If the enemies arent going towards C, then again, being closer to B helps that you can engage enemies there. This is what i mean. You have many options depending on what the enemy is doing. I often stay around that green area at first, see whats happening. If the enemy is strong on C, then you can kite away back to your spawn (left bottom line, or once i even was kiting into right corner, to get a crossfire going) - Right lower line: Basicly the position you went also, if necessary, i can go there also. - Right upper line: If enemies sit behind islands at B and arent advancing, to get shots at them - Left upper line: Aggressive push if the enemies are sitting in spawn / most at A. The last 2 are mostly advisable when you know what you are doing. Heavy DD or CV games usually prevent those movements, as they can punish you too easily. But sometimes they are needed to get a crossfire going. Or if the enemy is so weak that you want to farm damage. You should be able to get shots into C from my position also, the position isnt much further away. Also, you can get broadside Cruisers at that position much easier, thus helping your DD that way. Yes, it is^^ There are very few ships which are capable of dealing decent damage even when out of position. Ye, i knew it was Mahan or Maass, something with Ma... Thats why its advisable to wait a moment, and see if the majority of the enemy fleet is detected somewhere. You dont want to commit too early, and then realize it didnt do you any good. Nowadays ppl are so often running towards the border, that staying in the center of the map isnt even dangerous anymore. But from there you can decide what you want to do faster. in general a good idea, Lyon does have good AA however, and the enemy CV was only T6. Thats basicly the huge difference between <T8 BBs and T8+BBs. KGV bow armor is weak, as you know. Everyone can overmatch it except all T5 BBs, Fuso, New Mex, Lyon and Scharnhorst. Monarch has 32mm bow armor, (as all T8+ BBs) it can bounce all shells except Yamato and Musashi, so if you are toptier in T8, you can easily win a bow vs bow battle against a lowtier BB (german ones are trickier tho), because they wont deal too much damage, unless they use HE. You would be better of not using your back turret, unless you maneuver in between his shots. Ye, lyon is... bah. Too many guns. Ive been thinking about Monarch aswell, since many ppl say its crap. Many ppl said QE is crap too, but i think its strong (i basicly used only AP). Maybe Monarch is also better of using AP? Not sure... But it has awesome concealment, so that might be an option by sneaking up and blasting the enemies with surpise AP. But ill see when i get there, will still take time

Just went to look at the replay, here my thoughts Red line is your movement. The Grafspee was in C, and you went behind the island. Meanwhile on the minimap, half the enemy fleet was basicly at A (including HE spammers which were your biggest threat). Granted, there was a DD in C which you couldnt know becuase of the Graf Spee, but it took you 3 minutes to get back into the position you could have been right away. 1,5 minutes you were stuck behind the island where you couldnt shoot. The green line/circle is were i like to be. Usually enemies are moving according to yellow arrow, so i can shoot their broadside (top gray arrow), while from your position you shoot at their bows. This wouldnt even be a big deal, because you were toptier (your AP can overmatch T6+T7 BB bows) but if you are lowtier, then you cant do too much, alltho shooting HE does ofc work. But still. If there are enemies inside B, i can also shoot that way (left gray arrow), while you cant reach that from your position. So basicly the biggest improvement is positioning. If you go too far out, and enemies are out of your reach then it takes very long to get back into the battle. In this particular example would it have mattered? No. Your DDs were pretty bad (hatsuharu kept going into the corner despite being attacked by CV), the (i wanna say mahan) went through B and got stuck in the enemy fleet. Your DD at A might have been decent, but before you die, you can see your team running (4 ships) from an Icarus + an Atlanta giving them A aswell... also your other teammates didnt do anything really. The only possible thing you could have done, might have been help secure B, if you would have been closer to that, maybe prolonging the game, but not really turn it around. Also you could have made a crossfire with your Lyon, while in C you were sitting on top of each other. Also something in noticed: Sometimes you look around and your turrets are turning with you. Then your guns are reloaded, but not on target, so you waste valuable time. Also you showed too much broadside too often. If you are T8, no BB can overmatch your bow except Yamato and Musashi. And ofc HE spam can hurt you, as the Lyon was shooting HE at you, but its still less than getting broadside pens for almost 4k from a gneisenau. Its ok to slowdown sometimes (not broadside ofc^^), and wait a little bit.
