Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
DFens_666 replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
Change "Simpson" with "WOWs players" in the first sentence you here Then watch those screenshots I died in the north, because why kill ships for 5 Stars? Ofc in Hindsight, i should have known that when i die, they wont make it.... The Farra sat it out, and waited till he died - When your Human CV is trying to kill you, not the bot. (ofc our Tirpitz didnt use Torps ) - Bot Bismarck is named Tirpitz XD Those were 2 out of 6 Games. in the same Coop game i saw my Cleveland (at C) relentlessly peppering the bow on Bot cleveland with AP, dealing 0 damage, for more than 1 minute In another OP match, our Duca shot AP in an angled König also several times, despite him having no DCP due to me torping him (ofc i didnt get a flood with my follow up torp drop -____-) -

Double Major Contribution with Ryujo in Killer Whale today Other than that, it became too boring without bot CVs... 2nd one is even only 4 stars, because why shoot Ships that want to enter Harbour -
Thats ofc future speak

PSA: Aircraft Carrier bots removed from four Operations
DFens_666 replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Playing Killer Whale became kinda boring in a CV now... Pure 100% damage farming, before atleast you had to pretend to shutdown the Bot CVs On another note that got me easy 2x Major Contribution in my Ryujo. And ppl are still too stupid that they fail this OP by simply running away from the Exit zone -
Make Concealment Expert tier 1 or 2 skill
DFens_666 replied to karol66's topic in General Discussion
If you would make a 4pt necessary cptn skill into a 1/2 pt cptn skill, then you must think what happens to other cptn skills aswell, because suddenly you have 2 or 3 more free cptn points to use as you see fit. -
Make Concealment Expert tier 1 or 2 skill
DFens_666 replied to karol66's topic in General Discussion
Well, the idea makes kinda sense: Currently we have skills, that are must have. And the rest is "nice to have" at best in my book. Is Vigilance a skill i need? No. Is it nice to have? Occasionally sure. Or speecing for more AA, mostly it doesnt benefit me at all, yet the other skills are even less beneficiary. If we have more good skills, then you would atleast make a choice which way you want to go. Currently the options are too few to NOT pick certain skills. Alltho id say, a 1k HP buff/tier for a Minotaur sounds definetely OP Even with current 350 HP its something you could pick, instead of better AA f.e. -
Id like to add on the pro-RPF side: RPF can tell the enemy also something - whether he knows how to use it is up to him again. Its not as accurate as RPF itself, but it also tells you "hey, something is coming MY way" F.e. you are a DD going to Cap B (regardless of map) and you are located. At the same time, one of your DDs go to A and C each, while you remain located. Basicly you can speculate, in which proximity the enemy ship with RPF is (must be) in order for you to be located. Otherwise, it would be someone else. I dont like it either - makes you "less aware". For players who dont develop any real sense of WHY they are targeted, it pretty much equalizes the skill compared to someone who does know that. The real problem starts with it being a 1pt cptn skill. Often you can have 1pt free at the end, so you might take it regardless if you need it or not (happened to me couple of times) while i personaly prefer EL (its just must have for certain ships) or PM. I think the biggest advantage its when you are targeted by 1 or 2/3 ships. If you are in a position, where you only have few enemies infront of you, having MORE than 1 looking at you should tell you something. If you are so bad out of position, that it says 4++, then it doesnt really matter does it?

5 BBs per side is a softcap aswell, since we know there are sometimes games with 11 BBs and 1 CV (or something similiar) CVs have a hard cap of 1 (2). Even if there would be 1 midway sitting in queue for 5 mins, and you would instantly add 9 more, the game would still start with only 2 CVs - not 10. If queue is too long, 5 BB softcap is ignored. (same for 4 DDs btw) Actually mariouus said it before: Its a combination of both. Probably the most horrible game for a Cruiser is 5/2/5, which basicly means, camp like a madman. (maybe 1/5/1/5 is even worse ) A game with 7 Cruiser and 5 DDs, Cruisers really wouldnt need to camp, since they can hardly be nuked - unless you put several stalingrads in there. A Cruiser could most likely turn and get away with it (unlike with BBs). Also Cruisers fighting Cruisers have the problem that they cant ignore a Cruiser attacking them. A BB can ignore a BB attacking him (most likely) and blapp a Cruiser on the other side of the map, who is engaged with something else. 7 Cruiser with 5 BBs is also workable, since you are more or less safe that you can go stealth if needed. DDs can prevent Cruisers from that by permaspotting them - pretty much a death sentence. So yes, both of them are a problem for Cruisers, even more so when you own DDs refuse to help you Recently i had 4 DD games quite often in my Hindenburg, and they easily prevent me from going to a flank. If the DD is coming there (or decides to go there once im detected) im locked into that position.

Well, see it like this, because i had the same arguement in a Ranked sprint game with one of our T5 BBs: DDs all the time spotted, but your New York said, he wont shoot DDs because he deals like one overpen worth of damage. What most players dont account for, is that if EVERYONE would deal a little bit damage, the DD would be dead. Sure you can be unlucky and dont hit at all, that doesnt happen too often (if you aim well) Normaly you will hit atleast one, or more if the DD is broadside/turning. Even 3-4 overpens from a BB is a good chunk which will help your teammates kill that DD faster. Rarely you will deal massive damage because you got lucky with dispersion. A DD is the biggest threat to your ability to be undetected if needed. You have good concealment in your Monarch (could be better with CE as you know), which opens up really A LOT (i mean that) of opportunities for you. There are some Cruisers which can outspot you, but they usually dont want to rush you. That means they might kite away and shoot you, but then they wont spot you anymore. If you are operating close to your detection range against targets you can spot yourself, you can really annoy them. Looks at you while you are going stealth? Wait a moment, he will turn his guns elsewhere. Then shoot again Thats the best scenario, if the enemy is turning his guns all the time but cant shoot

Hmm not too long. It feels a bit like when they changed bot behaviour (made them smarter) a little while ago. After that they made them normaly dumb again, but now it feels like something in between those. Often you had Bots moving in straight lines over the map, probably only changing course for spotted torps. Lately ive seen bots change course either when you throw torps at them, but ive seen them dodge my shells right away when i shot? At positions they NORMALY shouldnt steer! But not all bots, that makes me wonder. Ive had Bots ram islands to get out of my torprange for no apparent reason?

Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
DFens_666 replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
Im gonne throw in a 3rd opinion, because why not 1. DDs - hands down, it wins the game. If you feel you "cant" hit the DD, then you need more practice. DDs movement is often the same, if they get spotted, they want to break LoS. This means they either will run away, run behind an island or smoke up. Different examples: DD is moving towards you. Will he turn or smoke up?. This depends why he is spotted. If he is radared, he usually wont smoke up (alltho it does happen) because it wont help. If you wait a moment, you see whats gonna happen. If he turns, you shoot there. If he is smoking up, wait long enough till he is slowed down that you wont miss him. DD is showing broadside. Same scenario as above, will he turn away or smoke up? But here dont wait too long, if he turns out, you want to shoot fast to catch his turn. DD is already running away. In this scenario they mostly wiggle left and right, try to anticipate their movement. Even one shell penetrating will deal lots of damage (however, this will change soon). The only reason NOT to shoot a DD, is when there is a Cruiser which you can punish. 2. Broadside Cruisers/low HP target: Either punish it, or kill the other. 3. Anything which is not a full HP Bow on BB (unless you are a HE shooting BB or you can overmatch the Bow, then you can go for it). A Bow on BB which you cant overmatch is the last target you want to engage. It will take far too long to kill him. When everything else is dead, killing the remaining BBs is very easy. -
Had a quick look at that (i watched in fast forward ) - Definetely shoot DDs more often. Early in the game you kept shooting the GK at maxrange, while you had 2 DDs within 14km. Even if you hit only one shell, its basicly 2k damage. In the end, it will make life easier for you to deal damage because you dont have to be afraid of DDs. - Your initial position was a bit risky, but it worked because your DDs were infront of you. If they abandon you however, it might turn out badly. At one point, i dont understand why you moved forward tunnelvisioning the GK. Was it worth it? Id say no. The risk was too big. - When you went in to B: (very risky, your DDs were behind you, but you went in pushing, ofc enemies were far away at A/C, but still a DD ahead of you) The Yueyang made it easy for you by smoking up. This should tell you, hey, torps are coming your way!! You went in a straight line, so you should turned in fully, maybe you could have dodged even the torp you took (because you turned out again). But wow, that YY was stupid, even left his smoke that you spot him. Horrible move however, you rather shot the Yamato (lets face it, he was dead anyway) and let the YY escape. You knew his torps were on CD, you could have taken the risk and turned towards him. The way you are moving in the screenshot, you present broadside to the enemies at C anyway. So you could have turned in and killed it. Also, when a DD smokes up that close to you, you might want to start your plane, because it can spot the torps early on. Especially good vs DWTs since you can hardly detect them yourself before they hit you. - Soon after that screenshot: You turned away to C, while you could have turned to A also. If you would have killed the YY, you would have been undetected, maybe you could have blapped the Worcester - Lastly the GK again: You probably wont kill a BB that far away early on. It was actually the 3rd last ship to die on the enemy team. You got some damage out of it, but it was rather meaningless. Get rid of the DDs, then you can farm damage more efficiently.

Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
DFens_666 replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
1. Thats probably we get BB players all the time saying how nasty Cruisers are, while infact its another BB(s) which is killing you, while the Cruiser deal minimal damage. In your example its even a BB causing a fire 2. Or you could have looked at one of the other posts (Mortentardos or mine f.e.) which were written more like you hoped for. I even told you which ships you possible can bowtank in your nagato. The ones you cant (aka shouldnt), you can check out by yourself now -
The problem is, bad DD player die regardless of Radar. Then the side with the good DD players gets an even bigger advantage, if you make them harder to kill. Bad DD players die to anything: - First and foremost better enemy DDs. Either by eating torps (because sitting in ones own smoke is fancy), or by gun battle - CVs (rarely does happen) but ive seen DDs catch autodrop torps NOT crossdrops btw. - Get themself spotted against BBs/Cruisers by any means. Straight up rushing them or gunboating in the open (with a DD not suited for that). Everyone can handle those DDs. But you cant handle the pro DD players. They can work around Radar aswell, but its still a limitation on their playstyle. And thats a key feature of Radar. If you are moving fullspeed, then module damage shouldnt be a great risk with Last stand. Its only bad when you arent moving. Also if you have last stand + moving fullspeed, you might not need to dmgcon that engine damage right away. Hindi is far too slow to catch a DD which is running away, even with broken engine. Hindi is especially well suited to kill Khaba tho. Sure, i thought my smiley was self-explanatory But it still was a point, that some player basicly say, Radar physically hurts them.

Ships that definetely shot you (which is hard to tell, because your settings arent proper) - Edinburgh: AP only, he deals very little damage - Cleveland: the HE spammer infront of you. He hits badly and doesnt deal much damage, i dont think he had IFHE, otherwise he would have dealt SERIOUS damage to you - Several BBs: Atleast one Nagato and a North Carolina. While i was writing, i spotted the farmost North Carolina shooting HE at you (which caused the first fire) - Myoko: Not sure how often, saw him shooting once atleast. Ships not shooting at you: The DD, Mogami and the right most Nagato. -
Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
DFens_666 replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
Actually you got shot to death by enemy BBs. Cruisers simply cant deal that much damage you occasionally received (5-10k hits). Cruisers are the ones dealing ~1k damage, thats hardly enough to kill you (and a fire once in a while ) - You dont bowtank in a Nagato. Especially when you dont know who can overmatch you. If there are Lyon, Scharnhorst, New Mexico, Fuso and all T5 BBs - be my guest, you can bowtank them. If you are in T8 MM - no chance. Hitting a reversing BB is very easy, even more so when its a soft Nagato which gets overmatch EVERYWHERE. - You dont have Concealment Expert, so you pretty much overextended for your concealment. - As a BB, an unfavorable turn can still be better than wait and die. It was clear that you cant go undetected, because there was a DD ahead of you. If you would have taken the turn towards the island, you might have survived. The only thing which could have killed you would have been a BB, not a Cruiser. But for that, your initial position was not good enough. -
So the same arguements works for DDs against Radar? Many times, when one side has lost their DDs, it becomes extremely hard to come back to win. (thats why many ppl are frustratred when their DDs are dead right away). If the remaining DDs know what their are doing, you pretty much cant do anything against it. One of the games yesterday come to mind: 3vs3 DDs, all our DDs died, enemies lost only 1. We barely won, but no thx to the enemy DDs. If they would have played like 1% smarter, they would have won. But the Kidd (hightier) stayed close to 5 of our ships because dakka-dakka. Luckily our Fiji did as i told him and went to hunt it down. Fiji died in the process, but enemy losing one of their DDs was better. Then the last DD just went in, got spotted, took torps from Gneisenau. Gneisenau died aswell, but again, that didnt matter, if you look at it afterwards. DDs countering DDs cant be an arguement, then we are faced with situation above (also it would be like CVs, where the better CV can decide the game more often). If you compare the damage per shell, and the amount of HP DDs have on those tiers (unless looking at Khaba because Heal), then you end up with roughly the same amount of hits needed to kill a DD. Nürnberg has 561 HE damage and Hindi has 825. T6 DDs have like ~14k HP (IJN/US significantly less, RU~, German has more), compared to like 20k on T10. And here comes the BUT: Nürnberg shoots every 6 secs, while Hindi needs 10 secs. Hindi has 3 shells more in the air, which wont negitate the lack of RoF. The faster you shoot, the harder it is to evade as a DD. Also at the same time, Nürnberg has better concealment (if CE), while DDs basicly have worse concealment than on T10. And then the maps are smaller, which makes it more likely that you can surprise a DD inside the cap. Many DDs whining about Radar make it out to be that it was Radar that killed them

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
DFens_666 replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
pff.... That makes perfect sense. So good players are never allowed to be toptier in T8 then (or atleast less likely) Sounds even better when playing T6, then hightier ships are all potatoes -
I agree on that one. Im going mad against Coop Bots lately. Somehow they like to perfectly angle (atleast against me) They focus a target (often me ) They "decide" when to use torps - either longrange or they wait until they drive by to kill you almost guaranteed. Not to mention they have 100% Citadel aim. RN CLs are probably the worst bots you can face as a Cruiser. Meanwhile your half team evaporates at first sight , atleast occasionally. Had a Bot CM on our! side today who got 4 kills
-
You could still argue that most other Cruisers couldnt have done that?^^
-
Kudos for performing like that even when you are handicapped I mean, compared to what "average" wows players achieve with "normal" ability.

T8 Matchmaking the umpteenth - except this time it's good!
DFens_666 replied to Tyrendian89's topic in General Discussion
As for 2 games today - doesnt necessarily matter to me First match 3x T8 Div in T10 MM (7 TX + CV + 5 T8s), T10 BBs total windowlickers Next match T6-8 MM (only 2 T6), equaly windowlicking BBs, luckily its enough for a hardcarry this time. Can only win by super hard carry, but both could have gone either way. -
So, ok what do you want to hear now: - Should you try to attack a Missouri? Probably not, because it has Radar. If you are going closer to torp him, then you take the risk. - Can you torp other BBs even when reversing? Ofc, there is no problem with that. But probably its smarter to get to their flank and torp from their. As for LoS radar for Missouri in a Specific case: Thats irrelevant. You cant cherry pick and say, LoS radar for Missouri is fine, when it hits other ships (spells Cruisers) much more. The Missouri is still a BB, which doesnt explode right away when it is getting shot at. It can go in, radar, bow tank and reverse out. Sure you might lose half your health, which you probably can heal back by 50% or more. But do that with a Cruiser which has like 2/3 HP of that MIssouri and no armor to tank those BB shells, then you are just dead. LoS radar is bad because: - Cruisers are in risk of getting blapped by BBs (even more than before) - DDs get radared more often without cover, which again helps the BBs, since you said yourself, you cant torp them when there is a Radar cruiser between you and the BB, but they still can shoot you. - Lack of information for DDs in specific sitations - Lack of teamplay -> radar becomes a 100% selfish tool.

Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
DFens_666 replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
Nagato has rather "bad" armor for a BB. If you meet the wrong opponents, they can deal lots of damage to you. Doesnt mean you shouldnt try to tank, but there probably are other BBs better suited for that. Ofc the moment is cruicial WHEN to use your HP. Probably the hardest part when playing BBs properly. Most players either go in too early, or stay behind far too long (mostly this one). Also Nagato has pretty good accuracy for a BB, which should be able to land you citadels even at longer ranges, especially against Cruisers. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
DFens_666 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Yep @WolfGewehr So we did 329.000 damage (+Forlorns on top) combined, and got 9 kills with our Division In a T6 game - where Cruiser DONT have a Heal!! Do i have to say more? Cruisers all the iime broadside, but did our team shoot? no ofc not, they were busy killing each other. (Fiji shot our Budyonny to death, and to me it looked like he had almost full HP, unless he got hit by something else in the same moment). Or went just yolo. Fuso and Lyon kept annoying me with HE all the time in the end, but ofc when i cant angle anymore against both, the lyon gets a 94%!!! hitrate (15 out of 16 AP) shot off... lucky he got like 13 overpens and i managed to kill the Fuso. Btw ofc 4 broadside salvos were no Citadel, then the killshot for 5k HP was a citadel, despite me hitting the same spot all the time.. sure WG. Was super intense, but the amount of windowlickers was crazy
