Prt. 3: Solution to WoWs Game Play: Unicums and The Pareto Principle.
DFens_666 replied to davidsturm6597's topic in General Discussion
There are a lot of Unicum 3xdivisions, they basicly make their own teamplay. Or why do you think those divs get a WR or >80%? They can carry almost any crapteam to a victory - only time it will fail if there is an equal or better division in the enemy team, so it boils down to whos potatoes are dieing faster. Thats when i started laughing Unicums dont die first - thats part of why they are unicums. The only thing which can happen is randomly getting detonated. In the last couple of weeks you could say, most of the time our 3x div was last man standing (when all of our teammates died). Once we were 3vs6 because our team went 1by1 to feed themselves. And we still won because enemy were equal potatoes. They just camped better while ours were the rushing type. Good players will consider the risk if they will attack - bad players simply dont. They might know there is a DD camping at an island, and they think its fine rushing him with a BB because BIGGUNS. In reality, DD has torps and they kill faster. Make it easier ofc by going as close to the island as possible- 76 replies

ever got into those nice "bays" where you simply cant get out because WG does a crap job with islands? Reversing / accelerating all the time to get out? What then? First hit = flood *use DCP*. Oh cant get off *permaflood* Yep, this will be fun For borderhumping i agree. You should get a DoT if you do it more than 10 secs per game. Again it should not be punished instantly, as it simply can happen by accident

He is right tho... WG MUST release new reward ships once the previous one has been unlock through normal playing - Flint for 3x ranked one - Black for 5x - Then Stalin for CWs - Bourgogne - which is available pretty much now/soon for guys who have all the previous ships + complete/buy the steel events - Azuma? Its simply the next in line, because there MUST be an incentive to farm steel. WG cant remove steel as a reward for ranked now, as it would lock everyone else out who needs steel... flags and camos cant work as it would either mean remove steel, or make them available through steel... first doesnt work, latter doesnt make sense.

Quality Control - Stalingrad (Now with EU data too)
DFens_666 replied to Koruption's topic in General Discussion
Is there any difference between solo and division games? I guess not? But that could explain the good stats for Worcester -> division play with CV. I dont think Stalingrad profits much from CV divisioning (alltho number one WR is 80 battles with superunicum CV...). As for Hindenburg: Imo the lack of them in CWs also speaks for themselves. We rarely encounter one in the enemy team. -

Operation Frontier - Why do people find it so hard?
DFens_666 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
The way i see it (adding to what @ForlornSailor said already) If you are too reliant on your random teammates, good players will avoid these operations. Seeing how you basicly get no XP in a defeat, and it still can take 15+ mins, its a huge waste of time. So what does that means: Good players will avoid playing that OP with random teams IF they want to play that OP, they will gather as many people into one division as possible to ensure a 5 star victory. Basicly this means, that no extra random teammate is needed to complete the OP. Or even that good players will just play another OP, which yields more XP and is guaranteed not to fail. If you have 4 guys you can easily play Dynamo or Narai. Both yield large amounts of XP. Narai gets easier with 5 people, or you can play Cherry Blossom with 5 guys. All of those are MUCH better than playing UF. There is no incentive to play UF as i see it. I will not play it just for the sake of playing. If someone asks for help for 5 stars, and we get a team of 7, then id gladly help, otherwise not. -

lol.... nothing more to add to that Quick, lets release soviet battleboats first as premiums, so we cant nerf them, but make all other more shitty = profit? -
PSA: Concealment nerf coming up in 0.8.0, hitting mainly cruisers
DFens_666 replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Thats what i fear basicly.. also i believe how poor average joe will be performing with them, so that might warrant also more buffs But for me it simply doesnt look entertaining in a long run (especially when you suck in them). Essentially, T4 is the same as T10, as im always flying with one squad. Only the characteristics of the planes change. -
Should all battlecruisers be in the cruiser class?
DFens_666 replied to aph_73's topic in General Discussion
Initially, Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were supposed to be same ships as Graf Spee. But after France was building the Dunkerque-class BBs, Germany decided to also build larger battleships (which were not allowed by the treaty of versailles). In the building process, Germany and UK agreed upon allowing to build bigger battleships, the guns however remained the same, so that Germany didnt have to negotiate further with England. But the barbettes were constructed that way, that both 283mm and 380mm caliber guns could be fitted on them. (all info from wikipedia) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scharnhorst-Klasse_(1936) Was planned, but never happened, so Scharnhorst is the original, while Gneisenau is a "paper"-ship in regards of the turrets. -

A novice player (noob) sets up the Hipper
DFens_666 replied to Saltface's topic in General Discussion
Are you planing to keep the hipper with that captain? Easier to give advice on what you should take. Super Intendent is not need for Hipper, but its more worth on Roon/Hindenburg because extra heal (alltho you need to survive pretty long to use all 5! heals these days, as they got an extra heal not too long ago) If you plan to leave it on the Hipper: Dont take Super Intendent, but i personaly would take Expert Marksman. If you sit longrange, it wont matter much. But maybe later in the game it can be helpful to turn your turrets faster. -

Thats the problem with the anti-BB whine in the forums: A nerf to BBs will eventually target GOOD BB players. One by one pushing them back to the other campers, because a good player will maneuver at the edge of his concealment. When i play DD, im pretty annoyed by BBs because they simply sit outside of my torprange. After you/your team has killed the DDs/Cruisers in your way, the BB is usually running away already, so i still cant torp it! The game is totaly going in the wrong direction with that, it basicly gets less fun for everyone. -
To sum this up for Kron: - Railguns which makes it easier to hit at range (good) - Worst dispersion from all Cruisers (bad) - Same Sigma as all Cruisers (normal) Compared to Moskva, its simply worse, because Moskva has Cruiser dispersion, but same sigma and same railguns. I cant go and compare it to Seattle guns, which have floaty arcs, so it has a hard time hitting at longrange. The fact that Kron has worse dispersion still stands. Thats why it holds up poorly compared to similiar guns

Should all battlecruisers be in the cruiser class?
DFens_666 replied to aph_73's topic in General Discussion
Ye, ive citadelled German BBs aswell, but they are much more immune to it than a Graf Spee f.e. IRL Scharn and Gneisenau ofc had the same 3x3 guns. Gneisenau was supposed to get the refit to 3x2 guns (which never happened). So WG just made them different because Gneisenau could have gotten the 3x2 380mm caliber guns. -

Im still wondering why everyone thinks CVs will be more popular after the rework? (same quetion for @El2aZeR ) The way i see it, bad players will be even worse when playing the new CVs (havent played them, but it just seems harder to hit something). With RTS CVs, every monkey could point + click at a ship and let the game do the rest. If you encounter another monkey, you might even hit several torps on him. Ofc after the rework goes live, there will be more CVs around. Will it be a lasting thing however? I dont see it right now, as average monkey playing this game will be too stupid to get it done. Players who master the new CVs can rape anything at will. Thats from an outside pov - so it might not be accurate. But it certainly looks that way to me. -
- Moskva has the same 2.05 (f2p by everyone) - All Cruisers (except IJN + BCs) have same Dispersion elipse - Stalingrad has worse dispersion than Cruisers, sigma only groups them more to the center - Kronshtadt has same dispersion as US/UK/RU BBs. Therefor Kronshtadt dispersion is the worst amongst all Cruisers (Yamato has same Sigma but better dispersion ontop). The only salvation is the railguns + more good players tend to play it. In the end, that doesnt help much as the shells do land all over the place. BBs dont have worse hitrate, but its still a lottery if you get a citadel or an overpen.
-
Look at hitrate from Moskva and Stalin, which have similiar guns: Moskva: 35.82 Stalin: 41.13 First one is played by everyone and has much better accuracy than Kron. Stalin is probably played by even better players than Kron, but its 10!% more. So id say, Kronshtadt doesnt hit good when compared to similiar railguns.

DFens_666 replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
The same could be said about BBs outspotting Cruisers: When was this ever a thing? Yes, sure it can happen late in the game. But if you have that little map awareness with a handful of ships left, that you suddenly get detected by a BB while rushing nose-on into him, you probably should rethink your strategy. For me the problem wasnt that specific - i just felt its wrong that BBs should ever have better concealment than a Cruiser (not that it matters that much while playing the game) BBs dont spot Cruisers - its DDs. Thats why increasing the distance from where a DD can spot a Cruiser is simply bad. A BB being spotted 500m earlier matters exactly what? The DD cant torp him anyway 99% of the time. Cruisers cant necessarily hit him either. (even more so when BBs will turn away earlier as they are spotted) The problem with this change is: Cruisers dont need a global nerf! period. -
Should all battlecruisers be in the cruiser class?
DFens_666 replied to aph_73's topic in General Discussion
Id say WG do as they see fit, but imo there are differences: Kongo has bigger guns on T5 than the BCs on T9/10. Scharnhorst is probably the one to being a Cruiser the closest - but not with its current armor scheme. Graf Spee has same caliber guns, but has a Citadel, while Scharnhorst basicly doesnt have one. Then again, we have Gneisenau which is same as Scharnhorst just with the changed guns. That would mean we would have the same ship 2 times with different guns but also with different armor, and that doesnt make much sense, so Scharnhorst does fit as a BB afterall. Hood also has big guns, so it fits more into the BB branch. -

So you say BB is infact spotting the Cruisers... Dont jump into a discussion when you dont know whats been said already That is true for only one map: Ocean. As for other maps: Islands anyone? A BB can be spotted 17km away from a Cruiser - that doesnt change the fact that the Cruiser is ALSO being detected earlier than before. -

Riiight, because normaly the BB is spotting the Cruiser Couldnt be the DD which is undetected SOMEWHERE on the map... -

DFens_666 replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Well, for Radar cruisers it means that the buffer zone gets bigger. For other Cruiser it means that they have to hang back more, since being permaspotted is infact a huge problem. If Cruisers dont mind that, how on earth would it affect BBs then? Majority of BBs sit at 18km anyway.
