So BBs shouldnt switch to HE against DDs either? Usually i havent had Smolensk's pop up infront of me out of thin air. You know they are there And ive seen a Hurricane clan on stream in a Yamato, getting raped by a Smolensk at close quarter. Yamato shot a couple (or 3 not sure anymore) of AP salvos right into his flat broadside, getting only overpens. So clearly, even Unicum players dont know what to do, even if they have the chance to do it. Smolensk players think they are safe by sitting flat broadside against a BB, they display their "invulnerabilty" because they are greedy. Either switch to HE after first shot, or switch to HE right away, thats why EL skill is a thing... Not to mention, you can citadel the smolensk regardless of angle with HE, unlike AP which would bounce. (gotta admit, thats rather hard since the citadel sits fairly low in the water) No i dont think so. You can say, i could have been more precise. But i dont consider shima guns to be a threat against a Cruisers, compared to a Harugumo. Thats why i didnt specify it. And CLs are already imbalanced against CAs. If we remove the possibility to penetrate BBs, shooting other Cruisers becomes even more viable. You can say, well on midtiers its different. But only at first glance: HE shatters often on dreadnought BBs, true. But BBs are generally slower, and the fire resistance coefficient is worse, so you get more fires. BBs have way worse dispersion, so you can even attempt open water gunboating without getting outright deleted. Getting fires on TX feels much more of a dicerole. Ive had ~100 hits with 1 fire in Hindenburg against a single TX BB. Or 200 hits in Smolensk with 1 fire. Having to rely on fires will always feel bad. Either you dont get a fire, or the BB gets a couple of permafires. Feeling "betrayed" feels always worse than being lucky. -

Some DDs are primarily made for their guns, no? (Harugumo *cough*) If you remove the 32mm pen from it, it will still rape Cruisers, and even more so than before, since it can hardly damage BBs. But the whole concept of Harugumo is once again bad like Smolensk is aswell. Mino has better AP angles than normal Cruisers for starters. And sAP. Try shooting with a Hindenburg into BB Superstructure for 590 damage, do the same with Minotaur you get 1k. And shooting an angled BB in Mino is probably the most useless thing you can do. Shooting a broadside BB deals absurd amount of damage if you know where to aim. Other Cruisers would deal more per volley, but will shoot less often. When a Hindenburg can shoot like 2-3 times at a turning BB, Minotaur can shoot 4x more often. -

Thats why i think, we need to remove IFHE and just give them 32mm penetration right away. 203mm (and Moskva/HIV) could get buffed to 40mm+ (1/5th), while germans should go >60mm (just for the russian BB shitshow). Fine, tune down the fire chance a bit in return, would be much better imo (not for germans tho, they already have low firechance as balancing) But in return, CLs need to get slower reload, that will also finaly balance CLs against CAs, because CAs will have more alpha. Yeah, an HE shooting Yamato However, Yamato has 133k AP alpha damage, which it actually can apply to ships with citadels. All of the HE damage will be 1/3rd at best (or even 0). So Smolensk has like ~9,5k. The problem you are creating with making BBs immune to DD/Cruiser HE: DDs can only deal damage to DDs/Cruisers Cruisers can only deal damage to DDs/Cruisers BBs can deal damage to everything. Why should anyone play Cruisers anymore? Basicly half of the enemy team would become immune (the 5 BBs), so your only chance is to fight other Cruisers and DDs, while being XP pinata for BBs (even more than now). If people play less Cruisers, we will see more DDs in return. Not sure if thats what BB players should want -

Well first of all, its not only Smolensk, other ships do have the same problem (Harugumo f.e.) or similar problems. Second, what would be much better for balancing, would be, to remove IFHE as a skill and just give every Cruiser (or DD) appropriate penetration. Now specifically for Smolensk: If you give Smolensk reasonable pen, you can measure his damage output better. 16 guns with fast reload is not good. So why does it need 4,5 sec reload, because the caliber is so small? I think, it would be better to give it a much slower reload, which also would bring the interaction between CL <-> CA back in line (this should be applied to most other CLs too). With slower reload, maybe you wouldnt need to nerf the firechance much (if at all). I have to say tho, i dont consider Smolensk to be OP, its just bad for the game. My thinking would be, to rebalance it (and other ships) to make it feel less frustrating to play against them. In the end, the result wouldnt even change that much, but it should give a different feeling playing against one. Also about the last part: Whether a Smolensk can kill a BB faster than another BB, is really down to the circumstances Getting close enough to a Yamato broadside with any other BB is potentially an instant kill, while 2 BBs sitting bow on could shoot each other for quite a while. -
Imo you should be able to do it. Those ships should be roughly ~1 year available (maybe even a bit longer). And you get 2 coupons per year. So most expensive coal ships are available for ~190k Coal. 190k coal means you need on average 520 coal per day, which means 1 resource container per day, since you average more than 400 coal per Container. Ontop of that, we get several ranked sprint seasons per year, which are 10k coal each. Or we had 2 Snowflake-type events where we also got coal from lower tier ships (or even steel, if you dont play CBs/ranked, you wont need the steel anyway, so it makes sense to utilize it there). I dont disagree, that we got too much coal ships lately (with the special russian captain coming aswell), but if you want one specific ship, you should be good to go, even with only daily coal. And i didnt even count in the extra 200 if you complete 3 daily missions.

Lets take 24 players. All of them have 100 battles played and 65% WR. Added together, out of 2400 combined battles, they won 1560. They play another 100 battles only facing each other (this is basicly what some people suggest, i.e. unicums playing against other Unicums) Now those 24 players have a total of 4800 battles played, each of them 200. While 12 players win, the other 12 will inevtiably lose. If everyone would get an equal share of the wins, everyone would drop down to 57,5% WR. (100 games with 65% WR + 100 games with 50% WR gives us 115 wins out of 200 games played or 57,5% WR) Ofc you will say, thats not reasonable, why should they all get 50% WR? Ofc not. but its to show, that the system AUTOMATICALLY will drag people towads 50% WR. Because for a player with ABOVE 50% WR, there will be one or more with LESS than 50% WR. The total sum of 50% WR cant be broken, if you put players into a closed system.

Then how about elaborate exactly what you want? Because if only bad players play amongst each other, most of them will win more often. Same for Unicums playing amongst each other, which results in more losses. The other option is, if a high WR player gets into the game, he gets a potato as balancing... which is just horrible.

I think its rediculous, that half of the LMs are basicly OP (they are just an upgrade) while the other half is just trash and most likely a downgrade. Maybe you have a couple which are situational (DM / Gearing) and actually provide a different playstyle. But i assume, according to mighty spreadsheet everything is fine, because average playerbase uses those modules regardless of what they do -

Imo one of the most useless LMs, as @Yedwy already said: Why would you burn down a Hindi? Cruisers (except BCs) dont struggle with fires, they only burn for 30 secs anyway. HE Alpha kills them way earlier, and AP even faster. It would be useful to some degree, if you miraculously could shatter cruiser HE. But still BB AP is your worst enemy, -

hmm, no? With full anti-fire build, you lose 10,4% of your ships HP (assuming BB or BCs except Graf Spee) Standard BB heal is 14% from 1 (0,5% per sec for 28 seconds). Or 16,8% with India Delta. That would be horrendously broken, because DDs and Cruisers have the lowest fire chance. BBs have the highest fire chance... So your proposal would make certain ships (BBs, who else profits from anti-fire builds? only BCs which are a handful) immune to lowcaliber HE. And they can be immune to HE alpha already! German / Russian BBs, midsection of hightier US BBs, Dreadnought BBs to some degree, Izumo/Yama midsection.... did i forget anything? -
Never? Hows it supposed to work out... Make a match with only <50% players: they will move towards 50%. Make a match with only >50% players, they will also move towards 50%. In the end, everyone has 50% WR.

You could swap EM with JoaT if you feel like it, but i rather have the turret traverse for BBs. Ontop of that And anti-fire / anti flooding signals. You go down to almost 50% of fire/flood duration, which makes it much more manageable, even having a flood for 23 secs is not the end of the world. For your belt: 30 degrees angling is enough for almost all ships to bounce (a few have better ricochet angles). But quite often completely bow/aft towards enemy works too. For all T8+ BBs have 32mm of armor, so only Yamato and Musashi can overmatch them. GK has even stronger bow plating, for the most part it can even bounce the 460mm caliber guns. The aft is more vulnerable i believe, the germans only have 32mm there (?) so Yamato and Musashi can overmatch you from behind.

Ive always thought its quite funny, that a cruiser dealing chip damage over several minutes triggers a lot of BBabies so hard, but that other BBs can hit you for 20-30k or more with one salvo is not a problem? But i guess, if we would get rid of CVs,CAs and DDs, BBabies would cry about other BBs dealing too much damage (those without a citadel might become the first prey ) Also about RN CLs, i think people used to whine about how OP that smoke spamming is. Took them some time to adapt, but now even the biggest noobs try to shoot you in smoke. RN CLs didnt change much, but its quite obvious that they became harder to play over the years. Thats why i like to play Radar Mino nowadays. People shoot your belt regardless if you are angled (nice to bounce entire Kremlin salvos ), and because you arent stationary, getting randomly citadelled in smoke also wont happen.

Buf muuuh secondary build!!111 Joke aside, i think, everyone and their mother is playing secondary BB these days. One game i had 2 Izumos both running it And then they cry about HE... The worst part is, BBs are like lemmings, they automatically follow other BBs quite often. Its really infuriating, you go somewhere, only to see 3-4 BBs following you, which makes everything useless Well, the Radar didnt matter that much, it was 95% luck that he was coming around at the same time. I expected him to still camp behind the island, but he made the same move i did. Maybe he could have gotten his torps off i would have radar, but i had ~6km zone to turn in and blast him regardless. Id say, Skill floor for BBs is very low (dont need much to get somewhat average results because of range/gun arcs/caliber compared to CAs/DDs) but skill ceiling is quite high. If you want to carry/turn matches, you need to know what to do, and more importantly WHEN to do it. Especially since wows is rather slow paced, if you move to late, you might have lost before you can execute your plan. As i said before: I dont expect the average BB player to be able to recognize the need for a game turning push, nor to execute it properly. But ive also said, there is a middle ground between shooting from maxrange and pushing into enemy forces. Work with your concealment and how far most of the enemies are positioned, so you can get undetected if necessary, and use islands to make a turn, even if you have to go a bit closer at first. BBs also dont die THAT fast, so if they have some kinda exit strategy they should make it, unlike a DD, which can lose quite a lot of health if cant get undetected within the first few seconds of being radared. -
Imo the strongpoint of german BBs is their armor, not the secondaries. Especially in the current meta, being able to survive HE spamming is much more important. And Secondary build is harder to play and more situational than a tank build. German BBs have great armor all around, and almost impossible to citadel, but fires hurt a lot because people can easily hit your superstructure, so you often get 2, unless you run FP. Thats why i recomment a tankbuild for you. Its not that Secondary build doesnt work on T8 (imo T7 and 8 are the only viable tiers for that) but since you struggle with it on T8, it will get worse on T9 and T10 for you. No they dont, unless you are not perfectly angled. 45mm Armor can not get overmatched by any gun. Only 32mm can get overmatched by Yamato and Musashi, above that you will always ricochet when angled.

So i guess buff hindenburg, not Zao? Ofc WG effed Hindenburg, because first nerf, then buff and buff again, which tells us, initial nerf was totaly uncalled for. Even more so, when they buffed Zao and HIV at the same moment. And i think HIV could deserve a nerf.
