Played 2 ranked games today, both times our team had no smolensk while the enemies had 2 smolensk. We won both. Its not the ships fault, its the players... -
I wouldnt call those ideas - thats often just whining Or better: Thats mostly balancing, they should be able to do that themselves. On the other hand, WG got told by good RTS CV players, what wrong/bad about them and needs fixing. WG got told, AP bombs are bad for the game. DO they listen? Nope, they ignored it with RTS, and they ignored it with the rework...

Only salvation is, that noob CVs exist. Feels good man If i would have known, that they are THAT bad, i would have survived. But i expected to die, since i was close to both, and they both kept striking me. I wanted to get as much damage as possible, so i kept straightlining full broadside. CVs actually died before me, but my team stole my kill Neither of them took torps btw, i just citadelled them to death

Because of the MM fiddling, there have been some really weird matches lately: playing T5, almost 20 CVs in queue, game starts T5 only game after 20-30 secs waiting without a CV (naturally) Again T5, almost no waiting time, enemies had 1 BB more than we, i got matched in a T5 Cruiser against that T5 BB. I actually think, its getting worse, because the MM makes those single tier matches. On T5-7-9 we dont have CVs, so more CVs for all other games

I think he would be decent for HIndenburg. Faster reload is great, and with Hindenburg, you dont know what to skill anyway. PM is ok imo, as it tends to lose Torp tubes and even mainguns all the time EM, while not really "necessary" its still better than most other skills. If id put him on BBs, it would be T7-8 max - highertier secondary builds are more frustrating then useful (imo) and tank GK is really strong. For DDs, i really think its useless. If there is a CV, you can forget about getting spotted ribbons. Also, in order to get new ribbons, the targets need to be unspotted for 1,5 (?) minutes to get a new one. All in all, seems pretty useless to me. If they would change it to spotting damage, could be more useful. -
Thats a general issue with creating new ships/lines all the time, and they have to be "unique" and better so you play them. ITA CAs will probably not attract too many players, so i expect some sort of buff/gimmick incoming next year... much like French CAs. They werent particulary weak, but most players didnt play them either.

Yeah, thats the problem even with bad CV players. They will still spot you all the time and annoy you with it Thats why, playing Cruiser is also really depressing, as they get spotted easier than DDs.

That wouldnt really change anything. - Pens on upper belt of Soyuz - Pens on lower bow of all T7+ german BBs - Theoratically pens on Izumo/Musashi/Yamato/Soyuz/Kremlin center deck armor, if you can get the angle on it. So long range might work. - Citadel Smolensk I think thats it. Any further penetration buff would mostly result in penetrating Cruiser Citadels, which would make normal AP almost obsolete. They are pretty much useless against BBs - thats the problem.

I mean, they could always rework it entirely. You know, we have a testserver for crap like that (then again, we dont really). Id like to see a Smolensk with - Appropriate penetration (yes, meaning it will pen 32mm with IFHE) - increase reload MASSIVELY (double or more) - do something with the armor (higher citadel / more citadel armor - less upper belt armor) - more HP because of the armor nerf. - Remove range mod from 6th slot. - Nerf fire chance a bit

Ofc im not defending AP bombs - they were bad before, and they are still bad. But as a Cruiser, you had a counter option against those. BBs on the other hand... well they didnt.

I think the difference is, as a good player vs a good RTS CV player, i could defend myself. (atleast with Cruisers, speccing for AA and using DefAA) Now it doesnt really matter. If the CV is able to dodge flak, he will eventually kill me at some point.

Well, its clearly not balanceable with what WG did with the rework. Imo its bad enough, that top CV players can kill any ship at will, but it would certainly get worse if everyone would be allowed to do it. Why play anything but CVs, if there would be no way to escape them? ANd the only escape right now is, that majority of CV players is really bad, so Flak can "defend" your ship against those players. Remove it, and surface ship play would be dead. Its not better than other ships AA, so it cant be good from any pov. Its not the best, and Smolensk can be attacked by CVs, therefor, its AA is not good. Yep, removing 25% of the targets HP with one attack is so bad. And ofc he cant really defend from that. Only the incapability of CV players is the salvation of surface ship players.... and wtf about TiTs? They can pen 68mm of armor, which is the entire ship except the citadel armor. And if you hit the citadel of a Broadside smolensk, then you must be some kinda super unicum, but not really since you would hit the 90% which you can penetrate. And once again, apparently removing atleast 1/4-1/3 of a ship with ONE strike (not to mention AP bombs can hurt more) is not good enough... should we just get it on, and let CVs leftclick any ship to death? faster CV clicker will win the game

Well, bad CV players collect flak from DDs so... just a problem with the mechanics.

I dont see it as a problem, to make LMs for reward ships either. Even for Stalingrad, you could do one, which wouldnt be OP, f.e. 6th slot -x% Concealment (between 5-10% or something) -xx% Rudder shift time. That could bring a little bit different playstyle for Stalingrad, but the tradeoff is having <20km range and 20 sec reload, since you cant get the range or reload mod. -
@El2aZeR thats one for you. IIRC; Smolensk AA isnt good, so no need to nerf it any further. El2azer has the numbers, he can tell you more about it

lol wut? DefAA would have prevented the Midway from actually dropping him indefinetely. Ofc noobs triggered DefAA on maxrange, CV left AA range, came back 1 min later and just killed it. But as long as DefAA wasnt used, you literally couldnt strike any ship. Not only because you would have lost most if not all planes, you couldnt drop them properly because of the panic effect. Minor damage at worst. And the CV would have needed 2-3+ minutes to get back to you. Not to mention, Losing entire squads of planes actually did something.

Should have told him, when 1v1 Sprint is coming to click in with you. But we all know how that would end, i expect him to not have more than 45% WR aye? The alpha from one salvo doesnt seem too bad, but the DPM is ofc horrendous against BBs. Literally killing one alone seems to be quite a task (or you yolo rush it with smoke and torp point blank range ) -
The problem with Italian CA torps is, that they are horrendously slow. Thats most likely the cause for more hits on teammates. Yesterday while playing Montecuccoli, i wanted to torp several times, but decided to drop it, because i had friendly DDs in the area. Average player doesnt understand, that the torps are so slow. They often dont even understand the range limitation, how you think they will grasp, that their torps take ages to reach their target 10km away?

where to see ship caracteristics?

Basicly, as a Cruiser its 99% guaranteed you cant ever citadel a BB. On TX, there are a few which can citadel some BBs (DM, Moskva). Ive seen Furutaka citadelling a Wyoming close range, but not sure if luck or really possible. And sometimes you get those freak citadels, which are pure RNG/luck, but you cant go for those. F.e. if the BB is ~35 degree angled, you might get through the bow and hit the frontal citadel plate. There isnt much armor there, so even Cruisers have the penetration to do it sometimes. But you cant count on those. Also, if you dont have atleast 203mm guns, you can basicly forget about it (again, ive seen weird luck citadels from smaller caliber guns, but there isnt an explanation for that). Kongo needs atleast 59mm of armor to fuse its shell. If you shoot a broadside Cruiser, and you dont hit the citadel, it will just overpen, as most of them have like 10-16mm plating (the ones Kongo can meet). If you hit the Citadel, you should not overpenetrate it, unless you are too close, because most shells have a delay of 0.033 seconds to detonate after they fused. F.e. Caledon actually has only 0.004 fuse time delay, it will basicly detonate right away. Scoring citadels with RN CLs is basicly impossible, if the citadel doesnt extend to the outside of the ship. Ofc that changes, when the Cruiser is angled, because the armor gets thicker. You will less likely get a citadel, but more likely get penetrations.
