Thats where i usually go with my BBs on that side of the map Dont go past the arrows i show unless you know you can survive going further. Yellow lines are the shots you can take from those angles. Like going to the island at C cap. With a fast turn south, you can disengange from the fight if needed. Same for the northern most route, just turn north instead towards the map border. Just take it slowly from those positions, you can stop, reverse or advance slowly IF you understand what the enemies are doing (which will take more practice till you do). The southern route i dont like to go far out. You are reasonably safe there, if necessary use the small island to turn out. Just keep on playing, you need map knowledge aswell. Look how the others are moving around you, so you understand, where most peole will be going. If you know that, you can exploit their movement and shoot into their broadsides. If you do the same as everyone, you wont have much success. Since you ask about BBs in particular: BBs are map control ships. Basicly no ship can push a BB away from its position, like a roadblock. Even other BBs have problems doing it, as they can take huge damage in return. The only ones are DDs, but in lower tiers their torprange is rather limited (thats why you should play different classes and nations so you know, what their configuration is - not every DD is the same f.e.) But a BB rushing mindlessly forward will die fast aswell... not as fast as others, but it will not survive for long. And a BB sitting in the back will not give map control for its team. So you need to find the sweetspot. But its ok, you dont even have 100 games. Focus on the basics, play different ships. Make mistakes but try to figure out, what went wrong.- 27 replies

They said it somewhere? I knew it atleast... You only get the commander if you already own the ship - nothing else. And ofc, this implementation is totaly offputting for those people who have SOME of those ships already in port, like my first one is Missouri (not that i would get it anyway) but since i already have it and i dont know what the next ship would be, i would never do it. -

Sorry, but thats just wrong. Hindenburg AP pen is so abysmal, it cant citadel any BB reliably. MAYBE some T8s at close range (Vladi could actually work)? Never tried those, but TX BBs are off limit. The only one that works, is Yamato at <1km into the weakspot at the exact angle. In fact, the AP is so bad that it struggles to citadel a slightly angled Stalingrad at >11~12km. And Hipper/Roon/Hindi all have the same guns, so if Hindi could do it, so can the others There is a comparision. Balti/DM are ontop of each other. Moskva is in a league of its own, and it actually can citadel BBs a bit further than closerange. Well, thats mostly personal preference, alltho US AP is just superior compared to german AP. It has more pen and improved angles. Also Balti has 66% firepower in the front (75% of Hippers entire salvo) and the HE has more alpha and a better firechance... and it has better reload. I often heard a lot of bad stuff about the US CAs, thats why i didnt play them for a long time. But i think, they are quite awesome. That AP is just so much better, and you need to use it ofc. -

Since you are very new, you should be in protected MM till you hit T5 or 75 battles played. You might even play with bots to some degree, so you cant really blame them for being dumb. Look at the names, if they have : at the start and the end of their names, they are bots. Since you are that new, focus on your own stuff first. Improve your aim, dont sit in the back but also dont suicide into the enemies. Then work up from there. Hindenburg is a huge improvement over Hipper and Roon, but it definetely lost something along the line when more and more similar cruisers were released (like Henri or Venezia, maybe even Goliath) They all were my first ship for the respective tier, so stats tend to be worse compared to those that ive played lately. Hindenburg is still my highest average damage cruiser till this date (maybe Henri can take its place, played it for the first time couple of days ago) Hipper is definetely subpar for its tier, even if i would play it now, i doubt i could reach the numbers ive gotten with other CAs like CM and Balti. Roon does have its stinky moments because of the turret layout, but i think its a good improvement tier for tier Hindenburg isnt weak, while not being topnotch either. But then again, all TX Cruisers are fairly strong. -

If you play a really strong DD, you might not learn properly, as they are easier to play than others. T7-8 is also the starting point, where you will see more and more radar, to which you need to adapt entirely different. Since you dont like French and Russian DDs, i assume you prefer having smoke and are looking more at traditional DDs with Torps, as those 2 are gunfocused. IJN DDs are heavily torpfocused (the Shima line) while the ones going to Harugumo are more gunfocused, starting at T8 tho. The T6-7 still rely on torps. US DDs are more of a hybrid, starting at T7/ T8. The ones before that simply are lacking in torprange to make us of them all the time. But all of them are good gunboats too. If you pick the T61, it will be so much better than the others: Good concealment, fast reloading torps and even superior firepower compared to Gaede, atleast for the smaller guns. So it might give a wrong impression. Maybe you should test the Monaghan, its only 250k Credits? Its like a Farragut, with Mahan/Benson torps (range is same on all of them, but Monaghan torps deal more damage than Mahan torps - equal to Benson)

When you get trolled by WG time and time again, why do we keep doing it? I collected EVERY possible container, and in the last one, i needed 20 or more. What did i get? 10 ofc... I think at that moment, in WG HQ this sound went off: So, how did you get trolled lately?

Had a guy with 92 battles played in a GZ couple of days ago. Most of his games were played in Saipan. You can barely see Saipan at the top. And thats what he did in that first GZ game 4633 damage Doesnt make much difference if you give them a rent ship or not... they will just buy it regardless.

Implying every Cruiser has Radar, and DDs are the only ships around that Cruisers have to deal with.

Well, those 2 DDs were dead before the 5 minute mark (im not sure how fast exactly, but probably even before 4 minutes played) and radar had nothing to do with their deaths. Infact id say, radar kills less bad DDs than they manage to kill themselves out of stupidity. Maybe its different towards average DD players, as they manage to kill/outplay the bad DD players, but inevitably die to Radar afterwards. But at the same time, good DD players cant have free reign as they also have to work around radar. So i think it looks like this - Bad DD players: no effect, they die regardless - Average DD players: being hit the hardest, most likely dying to it - Good DD players: moderate effect as they have to adapt towards radar ships To the first quote: I disagree, since DDs are less influened by RNG than the others. BBs have bad Dispersion, Cruisers might need to rely on fires (hey, i just had a Hindenburg game with 209 HE hits and 1 fire ). DDs also can influence the game by capping, while others might not be able to because they remain spotted. No RNG there. And then we also have spotting from DDs, which is much harder for others to do. A capable adversary can disengange if f.e. 2 Cruisers are fighting each other just by stop shooting. If a DD is there, then he cant disengange as he is permaspotted.

It certainly feels like, the amount of games which are just steamrolling into one direction are getting more frequent. Last session from a couple of days ago - 1kutu game was good and a win, the other was bad and a loss. - 2 rather bad Bourg/Monarch games with a win - 2 Good hindi/Musashi games with a loss. So we have 3 games with "expected" results (good performance ending in a win, bad in a loss) but 4 games ending "wrong" so to say. Atleast the Musashi game was not winnable, and the Monarch game couldnt be lost. -
While true, but i want to show the error of your thinking. Basicly you say, if enough people complain, there must be something wrong with a mechanic. BBs complain about fires DESPITE having several mechanics helping to combat fires. But if they complain, it must still be broken. Thats your logic, and not reasoning. Or better yet, try to play Radar Cruisers yourself. You will naturally remember those radar values because you need them. And you will learn what a Radar Cruiser can and cant do, which helps when playing DD. But i guess thats too much to ask these days

How about the hundreds of threads complaining about fires from BB players? Guess they are right aswell, and they just dont want their favourite class getting buffed to new levels

I dunno about that... One of them is a 62% player (65% on the DD) the other one 42% (39% on the DD) and they literally suicided into me. Neither side has much radar to speak of, salem is not worth to mention, and PR well yeah, but he didnt^^ What would threaten me after that? Nothing. Wasnt even a CV in game to hinder me. It just feels questionable. With a Cruiser or BB, i have to think more what to do. DD i can relocate fast, get the caps, torp their broadside when they angle against my team or even shoot from smoke if necessary. A game without radar and CVs is a freepass for any good DD player (mind you, im still a DD newby )

You were angled too much in the Omaha. If you show flat broadside, you can get overpens. Ive done it myself, rushing a BB with Murmansk which i believe was an Izmail aswell. Even a slight angle might be enough, that the shells have enough time to detonate inside the ship. Citadel armor is definitely enough. You can even do the same with CAs shooting at CLs. Close enough, they just go through. If you look at your compass in the left corner, you are basicly at a 45° angle. Not enough to bounce his shells, but enough to make the ship as big as possible.

Because HE is the noob-ammo. Most (especially BB) players whine so hard when they get set on fire, so naturally, they think burning other ships is some form of ultra-pro gameplay. Also, BB HE shells barely shatter unless they hit the belt, and against angled ships it can even be the better choice, but some people just spam HE all the time. And they tend to get more damage (because of fires) which has 0 impact on the game.

Nah, nothing at all. I was just doing the directives and collect all the EU containers along the way. And in the end, it looked like i could get the T7 DD because i was within the average i needed. I could have gotten more 10token containers before and i would have known, it wouldnt work. But since the drops were reasonably well balanced, i thought i could make it. So in the end, i was 10 short which just leaves a bad aftertaste, since other use for those tokens is practically 0 (one more reason not to buy the first package). Also, there was no way i could make the permacamo for the T7 DD yesterday evening, since i only had like 6-7h left till the missions got removed. (not that i need the permacamo anyway...) But to summarize: - I could only get the DD for 1000 dubs - I couldnt get anything else useful for the tokens - I couldnt get the Permacamo anymore - Today i can get the DD by using FreeXP/Credits or just playing it.
