    How to support your DDs?

    People are way too fixiated on getting caps, which is just wrong. You dont lose the game only because the enemy get a cap. But you will lose more likely, if you die for that cap which the enemies will then get afterall. I see people way too often running into a cap, then into the next if they got the first 4 free, and then they overextend and die. Capping is not the most important task, if you neglect everything else for it. Foremost, your team needs vision. Just an example from my last DD game (dont play DDs that often) Gearing on Islands of Ice: - spawned Center in a CV game. So i decided not to take B, too great of a risk, went towards A instead. - enemy DD and a Cleveland got spotted by our CV going into A, cleveland hiding behind an island. No use going into the cap and getting radared by the cleveland, so i turned away, throwing some torps towards the enemies. - Meanwhile, enemy DD went into B alone, so i decided to intercept him, and he did the mistake by moving into our side of the map, so he died. - got the B cap easily, because the enemy CV was busy somewhere else. And i still got the only cap for our team. We were lucky, that our DD at A also wasnt stupid and just sat in the cap, but went towards the outside and torped the cleveland to death, while one of our Cruisers blocked the A-Cap. So you dont need caps to win the game, especially not at the start. Blindly rushing into caps for the caps sake doesnt help anyone. If you have Radar Cruiser backup, sure its easier, but if the enemies have it too, then it gets trickier. Not to mention, omnipresent CVs these days, which makes going for Caps even more questionable at times.

    AA spec

    Well sounds good to me tho, when they invest everything into AA, makes it easier to fight them in non-CVs, while not making it harder when in a CV (not that i play CVs really, but still)

    LOL Riga vs Yamato

    Basicly almost all CAs are incapable of doing it? Need to be closer than 10 atleast. We could just exclude all but russians/BCs and be done with it Even Moskva needs to be closer than 10, Henri even a bit more closer than Moskva... DM needs to be <4km Hindi <1km only through Cheek Zao is a bit better than DM so id say <5km Venezia same as DM. Riga should not be able to do it at 10km (see chart above)

    New player experience and state of CVs

    I dont consider people sealclubbing, who play lowtier ships occasionally. If you wanna ban people from lowtiers because they are experienced, then i wanna ban people from hightiers when they are inexperienced. Having sealclubbers on lowtiers all the time is a myth. Havent experienced anything like it. Sure there were sometimes sealclubbers in there (outside from me/my div), but the majority of players isnt good (either because new or simply bad). And one sealclubber in one game can hardly demolish 12 players at the same time. So they can learn, because they will still fight other equally experienced players. The worst offenders here are still CVs imo. Being able to outright kill a DD 1 minute into the game is ridiculous. No other ship can do that. Going to T8-9 wont help them either, if anything, it makes it worse. But thats the mess WG created for us... And i dont agree about captain skills (atleast not entirely). Sure there is one, which is shifiting power extremely into ones favour: DDs with CE. But even with that, you cant be unspotted all the time due to the maps. BBs or Cruisers with CE wont make a huge difference, you will be spotted most of the time anyway, and be it due to CVs. All my Orion games ive played with <10pt captain, and sure, that can be considered sealclubbing, but like 70 games over a years span is hardly making a difference. I didnt even accumulate captain points for CE, i just took EM/AR because its better. Will i beat a new BB player because of that? no, i will beat him regardless.

    New player experience and state of CVs

    There are probably much more people ruining hightiers because they dont have any clue how to play, than there are sealclubbers running around on T4-5. Probably the most famous sealclubbing ships (players / battles played last week) some other ships in comparision. I doubt, people are sealclubbing in ships like New York, Omaha and Emerald. Thats worse however Compare that to the probably (2nd) worst offender on T4... well atleast used to be. 305 games per week? cmon... Even Orion which can easily be used for sealclubbing, has not that many players. Almost only half compared to Wyoming... Hosho is really really bad (i guess langley aswell, has even higher numbers), all others is just people claiming, that lowtiers are filled with sealclubbers. Meanwhile, hightiers are filled with absolute worst players there is, which would translate in hightiers being sealclubbing tiers People have absolutely 0 incentive to stick to lowtiers. As a new player, you cant do missions below T5. But those rewards are so much better for a new player, than they are for veterans playing for years. Who cares about a camo or a couple of flags, if he has thousands in stock? But for a new guy who has nothing, thats a nice reward. So he "has" to play T5. And then there is the thing about ships: Bismarck/Tirpitz/Yamato - those are ships that everyone wants to play, because you can relay to them. YOu have heard about them. This gets enhanced by the feeling, that if you are a -2T ship in a game, you probably get spanked by the toptier ships. Alltho 99% of that is lack of experience. But it doesnt feel like it. So you have the urge to get those ships so you can be strong, its the ship afterall not the player, atleast thats what the average person will think. So they get drawn higher and higher, till they reach T10.

    .

    1. Same as GK (420 GK makes no difference), or even bigger as Bourgogne 2. True 3. Better than GKs 4. Better than French/RN BB armor. Montana atleast has a chance to bounce Yamato shells f.e, and can shatter CL HE on the midsection.

    New player experience and state of CVs

    Couldnt agree more. WG changed from playing a game, to work the game. One thing after another, but you have done half of it, now you "have" to do the rest aswell... - it causes toxicity - it causes frustration but its a way to mentally bind people to your game. Shortterm it will probably work, but longterm? I dont see it... so many decent players have already quit the game. There is no endless stream of new players which they can milk, and it will end at some point. So is it better or worse? Arguably better for new players, so they dont get r*ped by sealclubbers. But worse for all other players, who have to endure new players without a clue on T5 or T8/9 if they decide to rush to hightiers, because they are "so good", which the game essentially is telling them.

    New player experience and state of CVs

    So if you agree that you are not a new player, how can you relate to what a new player is going through. None of us can, even we start a new account each day. The best thing we can do, is to imagine what a new player is going through... and then imagine its probably 4x worse than we think
  10. DFens_666

    New player experience and state of CVs

    How are you a new player, if thats not your first account? Sorry, that is not representetive at all. You already have all the knowledge (how many battles do you have under your belt?), new players DONT have. By picking CVs, you jumped over a tier, which still can and does see T4 CVs in huge numbers: T5 Not to mention, jumping over T4 CVs for 200 battles doesnt really help anyone. In that conclusion, T6/8 CVs are still horrible, and with a player without any experience, everything is strong. The Bot battles on low levels give you an extremely disturbed view about how the game actually is. Outplaying bots is really not a huge achievement, but once you jump to T5, you are just food for regular players. So you can get back for 200 games to T4 and enjoy spanking bots... after which you will get spanked by CV sealclubbers. You cant learn the game effectively. You need to play lowtiers against humans, so you learn the basics. Is 200 games against Bots enough? Dont think so, they just wont punish you. So the learning curve just starts 130~ games later than it used to. The higher you go, the harder it is to learn the game.

    New sound effects are horrendous

    100% agree, its sooo annoying... even when watching some videos on YT: DING-DÄNG-DING-DING Or when shooting others with fast reloading guns (is that a way to stop people from playing ships like smolensk? )

    American 406mm - Do damage how?

    US BBs dont have improved angles, only the US CAs. I think these days, its not really that great. Iowa can kinda hold its own compared to other T9s, but Monty? Izumo has better pen than Musashi till 14-15km nowadays. Soyuz beats Iowa after 6km, 420 FDG after 4km. Iowa has slightly better pen than 406 FDG and "much" better pen than Alsace Iowa is the blue starting 2nd highest, ending 3rd lowest. Montana looks pretty sad imo Basicly beating only GK (406, 420s same as FDG ofc), and even Conq runs off easily past 8km (if you were to shoot AP )

    American 406mm - Do damage how?

    I think thats a good question. Ive asked myself that often enough when i look at my T9-10 BBs. Thats why i basicly didnt grind any T9 BB, but just freeXPed them. Izumo is not even on the list, because i just skipped it. Iowa/FDG/Soyuz i skipped aswell. But why play them? Musashi is atleast superior to all of them. Well, Alsace actually has been really strong. And Missouri back when it got introduced was very good too and special ontop of that. Is TX different? not really. I even consider GK to be better than Montana, as it can actually push with the Hydro. Atleast Yamato and Bourgogne are unique, so those are definetely 2 keepers. Kremlin/Thunderer are between those 2 and really strong aswell. That being said, i dont think they are bad. You can play them, they can perform aswell. Iowa is a solid BB, not great not terrible. Slightly better heal than the others, and it doesnt compete with the largest caliber BBs, because on T9 you only have Musashi and Georgia, and the Cruisers dont have 30mm plating.

    Only eight suggestions...

    You can put 7 players in your div when playing operations, which also lets you play any operation, even those which are not operation of the week (technically you need only 4 to do that)

    Moskva --> Nevsky

    And if they would have done - remove moskva - give Nevksy people would complain, that they lost Moskva and need to pay 238 ? k coal to get it back... they cant ever win like that. Apart from the Permacamo scheme, which i agree was [edited], its fine. I prefer this way, others prefer the other way. Both ways are mutual exclusive, unless we would have gotten both ships for free (which i can understand that they didnt do it)
  16. Montanas citadel sits lower in the water than it used to. Forgot when they changed that, but couple of years atleast. I assume, its hard for a Cruiser to get there. Railguns like Moskva have it easier than DMs slow shells.
  17. DFens_666

    Moskva --> Nevsky

    I liked her pre-IFHE rework. Now i wouldnt touch it with a stick - goes for basicly all T7 ships... which is sad, T7 was my favourite tier. But why should i shoot myself in the foot by being uptiered vs T8-9 most of the time? Every T7 class has severe disadvantages by now compared to T8+ ships: - DDs dont have concealment module - Cruisers with IFHE cant pen BBs - BBs cant overmatch other BBs, while they can get overmatched themselves. The only exception might be, T7 CAs like Algerie and co, but i dont consider any of them to be that strong. The T7 CLs were better imo. Neither of them is tanky in T8+ MM, but CLs had better DPM. Which ofc is horribly wrong, but the "fix" is garbage.
  18. DFens_666

    Moskva --> Nevsky

    Would it be better, to lose Moskva to get Nevsky, and buy Moskva for Coal instead?
  19. DFens_666

    Hindenburg turtleback ?

    Can still get citadels, but can be everything between 0-2 cits, atleast from testing. If the Hindenburg is turning, prepare to take even more cits. The problem is not necessarily the citadels, but the overmatching BBs these days. If you manage to surprise a Yamato, you can get away with it because of his slow turret traverse. But others? Kremlin/Thunderer and the likes, they will be able to shoot and pen you from every angle. You cant really rush them, only ambush. Contrary to the likes of Montana, which you can easily rush open water, you just need to maintain a proper angle.

  22. DFens_666

    Advice please, Ibuki but cruisers in general

    Thats not a playstyle you wanna do with IJN Cruisers - Standard ammo is HE. AP is situational, basicly against Cruisers only (shortrange against CAs, midrange against CLs). Could have tried AP against Roon, but its probably a gamble if you get citadels or not. But can always try. - Always focus the DD first. You turn away from him for no reason. - Dont be so greedy that you beach, rather turn away. - Turning in when you were full broadside to the Georgia was also not the right move. You want to be kiting, thats where Ibuki is good at. And for that, you need room to maneuver. Going outside on the flank is not a bad idea, but since you have RPF, you should take into consideration, that you will get spotted. And your DD was moving there aswell, so he can spot for you. Dont overcommit for no reason. - Dont bowtank with Ibuki. Your firepower is bad unless you use all your guns. Infact, most Cruisers cant bowtank anyway. Germans/US CAs/couple of Russians can do it against some BBs (well, something like Moskva can do it against all BBs). And T8-9 Cruisers vs some small caliber T6-7 BBs. - Lobbing shells over the island is more for US Cruisers. You are way too easy to hit and can only use 40% of your firepower. - You need to use all your guns against the Roon, otherwise he will always win the DPM race. And pushing is always hard for the Roon, with 66% firepower in the back, so he has to show some side guaranteed, which makes it easier to hit. So yes, you kinda stayed in that position too long, but also that position was bad for you in the first place
  23. DFens_666

    What line should I grind out?

    Many people have a wrong understanding of tanking. You cant tank, because the enemy has the final say if he shoots a BB or the spotted DD closer to him. If you are spotted in a DD = expect to be targeted If you are close and or broadside in a Cruiser = expect to be targeted

    Wall of Unicums

    or you know, we can all see them just fine on sites like wows.numbers if we want to... There is no reason to attack some of them personaly tho. Noone gets anything from that. Hell, who would actually remember their names? And even if, how would it help me? So i recognize them in my team? Who cares, majority of the playerbase is extremely poor at this point, so you can just assume that they play badly.
