CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
DFens_666 replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
I just went back to check the 7th season (last year this time around), when we had 8v8 with 2 BBs in it. Back then, there was a lot of variety still, but in general - 2 BBs (ofc) with one being Kremlin, other switching a lot. These days id assume Ohio to be the 2nd, maybe even Kremlin might make room for Ohio/Thunderer. - 2 DDs most of the time. Gearing/Somers, but ive also screens where people used 2 Klebers, or even 3-4 DDs. - 2 Stalingrads or 2 Henris or 2 DMs/Salem. some combination of those. Stalins were ofc present most of the time, and the remaining 2 were basicly everything. Smolensk was also often around, but that was before it got nerfed. But now we have ofc more/new ships again, so its hard to predict. I think, 2 BBs in a 7x7 is too much. Even in an 8x8 it was kinda.. eeeh imo. The crossfire is very nasty. Its hard to say, what happens with Petro in a no CV meta. It still has very distinct advantages. HOWEVER, without CVs, Hindenburg and Henri could return to deal with Petro. Problem for them ofc is, that they cant handle BB fire as well as Petro can... hard to say really. -
The funny thing is, you would have gotten more sympathy for using Cruisers or DDs as an example The way i see it: The large majority of CV players are all overe the place. They might strike you, and then go for something else, or come back later again for you. Thats what i usually see when playing BB. The less damage they get in on me, and the more planes they lose, the more likely it is that they dont come back for me. Only the best CV players will kill you, if they feel necessary that you have to go. And they will succeed. But that hardly ever happens. While still the bigger part, which is not very skilled, will not pose that big of a threat. And thats the only salvation, why this game is remotely playable with CVs: because the average player lacks the skill to actually play CVs properly. Otherwise, we would just be fucked. The other advantage BBs have when meeting CVs is, that they can still play/enjoy the game, because they (can) operate for further away. Contrary to Cruisers and DDs, which need to close the distance, thus making themselves an easier target for CVs as they are first in line.
-
The problem still remains, that you are only looking at what the CV does to a BB, disregarding what a CV does to any other class. BBs are not the only victim of CVs. And usually, they are neither the first to die from it nor the most attractice target from the start. A BB can handle taking more damage from a rocket strike, because it has MUCH MORE HP and a REPAIR PARTY. Something, which most DDs and Cruisers dont have, except the latter starting at T9 where all have it. But then a BB can heal like 15k with one repair party, while a Cruiser gets 6-7k. So how is a BB worse of taking even 16k (which is a one time incident because his superstructure is not saturated, and you cant pen it on the hull), when a Cruiser might take 12k because its smaller, but can get penned everywhere, and a DD get hit for 7k which has no heal at all? BBs are the biggest ships, best armor, most HP. The downside is being more sluggish than other ships. Therefor, they will take more raw damage from a CV strike, which does not matter because they have other redeeming features to overcome that downside. - You hit more rockets on a BB -> does not matter, because BBs have most HP and have an easier time healing that damage back. Generally speaking they are also better suited to actually shatter HE rockets, dealing 0 damage. - You hit more Bombs on a BB -> when its HE bombs, sure, they hurt a lot and fire hurts them the most, no arguement there. But are the others better off because they are smaller and more nimble? not necessarily, see this Ask the Halland how he liked to lose almost 50% of his health in one drop? Sure he can heal that back (little by little) but most likely he will just die sooner than later (sorry @El2aZeR for video grabbing ) Ap Bombs? Sure you can get many citadels on german BBs quite regularily. Other BBs, not so much. Cruisers might take less citadels per drop, but overall they are easy to citadel, and often take a couple aswell. While they can heal more of that back, their repair party often cant heal much in one go. Not to mention big Cruisers like Stalin and co easily take maximum amount of citadels aswell. - AP rockets? They are only there to citadel Cruisers so.. yeah, BBs aint a prime target. - Torps? Again, you probably can hit more Torps on a BB than you can on a Cruiser. Still, the BB might only receive 60% the damage a Cruiser does, so even if he takes 1 more, he hardly receives more damage. Do i need to say again, that BBs roughly have twice the HP from Cruisers? And you might be able to dodge the torp in a Cruiser, while presenting nice flat broadside to a BB who is just waiting for you to turn. So getting hit by 1 torp hardly matter, when you receive 2 citadels as a result. A BB can even get away with showing broadside, or if showing broadside is bad, then just take the x torps and lose 10~15% of your HP. Still not a big deal. And spotting? Well, BBs hardly care if they are spotted, contrary to Cruisers and especially DDs. God forbid im defending CVs, im clearly not. But complaining, that BBs get shafted the most, while overall they are bothered the least all things considered.
-
You cant say BBs are easy to citadel only, lets say, because germans always get citadelled. While US BBs are practically immune (except to german AP bombs? dunno). Compare to Cruisers, which take always Citadels. AP Rockets also cant citadel BBs, but Cruisers. So overall, who is easier to Citadel? Monty vs Mino. Mino wins midrange. And longrange is pathetic either way. But closerange? lol... which actually matters when you are getting attacked. Monty beats Mino without much contest. Even Yamato can boost much better shortrange DPS than Mino, so its not only Super-AA US.
-
From that he can heal 8k. So he effectively lost 7,5~% of his health. Imagine a Shima with 21400 health would only lose 1605 HP on a very good drop when you attack him with rockets, i doubt DDs would actually mind too much.

CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.

If they would change CVs, having 2 BBs in a 7v7 would be too much. 1 is enough, and if you reduce ships to 1, you wont see 4 petros anymore. -
So you wanna be attacked by 110 planes in game so you can shoot down 10? Where is the difference, except scaling up the numbers? I dont think Cruisers enjoy being devstruck by BBs from across the map either... BBs are already on the easy side, no need to make it even easier than that. BBs overall deal best with CVs because - They have the best AA - The have the most HP - Best torp protection - Most repair parties - Hardest to citadel. Rockets can even take 10k from a DD, which only has 20k HP. You wanna lose 50k HP in your BB from a CV attack to lose similar amount of HP? While the DD doesnt even have a heal...

CBs need a total rework... - Something with CVs, either remove, or change spotting, or make CV setups only face CV setups - BBs back to max 1 - Limit individual ships to 1 -
But you actually did prove yourself wrong there. If noone has a higher solo WR, doesnt that mean, he is a very skilled player, within the ships he is playing? Personal skill is not 0 or 1. You are not only skilled if you have 100% WR, vice versa you are not only unskilled if you have 0% WR. The min-max value for WR is somewhere ranging from ~25% to ~82%. Worst Midway ive seen has 26% Solo, and @El2aZeR has 81% in his Enty solo. All other ships are somewhere in between, CVs are clearly the outlier. Winning 100% is impossible in a 12v12 with the ships we currently have. Even 3 people cant win 100%. I think the highest ive seen was >94% in the old Hiryu 3x div. And T1 players get >90%. If someone has the highest solo WR with a reasonable amount of games in a certain ship, that most likely means he is the most skilled player in that ship. Ofc this is getting a bit inaccurate since those stats include up to 5 years now with different metas and an ever growing number of ships.

The real problem with the ARP Yamato (Unpopular opinion but it’s not the ship)
DFens_666 replied to Rawthorm's topic in General Discussion
If it would be based on performance, do you think the OP would have said it like this? Wouldnt make a good case now would it? I dont want to say that im right and you are wrong, im just saying, that neither of us was there. Both is possible, i do believe that someone might call out an ARP Yamato at the start of the game. Do i believe that it happens all the time? no... i actually dont. But i do believe it would happen more often, when the playstyle is questionable aswell. -

How do you know? Where you there? Why were the ARP Yamatos ive seen in game not insulted from the start? Infact, they werent insulted at all. Why do shimas get insulted? Because they are shimas? No ofc not, because they play badly... -

Saying that PvP should be taken seriously is not a correct answer - but neither is "people should not take it seriously". If you dont want to take it seriously, there is always Coop to fool around without interfering with other people. You cant deny people wanting to have fun by playing a decent random battle with people, who know what they are doing (and they should know it when they play hightiers, sadly WG disagrees). Im not only blaming people who buy ARP Yamato here, ofc there are many others with f2p ships too. I think people make it very easy for themselves by blaming toxicity, and not reflecting any fault on their own behaviour. People should think, why others feel the way they do. But thats the issue of the day we live in, and its absolutely not exclusive to WoWs... -
This is for everyone who thinks "if you get good XP, you did something right" No, this shows, how you can absolutely LOSE the game, be 2nd in XP for SHOOTING HE and camping behind your CV as a TOPTIER BATTLESH(EE)IP Its just about the movement of the Izumo (thus i tried to increase the size of the minimap as much as possible) Izumo left corner, basicly together with the KGV. KGV also doesnt do anything, gets blapped from full health in the end because broadside best side. Izumo gets 45k damage gifted against the Soyuz for mostly ramming. Anyone who still thinks "Top 3 XP earner are good players" -> watch the video and think again.

Its already closing the distance quite rapidly First week of PR being purchasable Last week of january You never know which people go ham first. But it would surprise me, if ARP Yamato would stay ahead of the normal Yamato the next week.

DFens_666 replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
Overall, i dont see much choice actually. You can say, showing too much broadside to the Alaska was a misplay, and it cost me a good chunk, but i was hoping he might rather take the broadside KGV... The only thing i did consider: Not going A. I really, REALLY dont like going A on this map. I always go the other flank. Problem was, we said "lets follow our DD". Going to C might have made it easier to get crossfire to those ships into A, while they would have focused on the 2 useless BBs down south. And killing ships between B/C at the islands is not an easy task when you come from A. Going C could have been a winning move, but how far can you go back on your decision, especially if the decision is "support your DD" which is not stuid. Also having a CV which "theoratically" can spot ships for you is also an added bonus. -
The equivalent for playing TX without any prior knowledge would be to be sat inside a Ferrari wihtout any driving experience and told: just go ham on the freeway. People are not (legally) starting to drive cars without supervision in such a way, that the instructor can prevent you from crashing other vehicles. WG also lets you play against Bots in lower tiers, to make it easier for new players.

We did have T8 Clanbrawl seasons, Enty/Massa were quite popular. And sometimes the setup itself can be more "p2w", than the actual ships. Like the 3v3 sprint when they released Pommern. The setup already favoured Pommern so much, its not a surprise that it would do very well.

Maybe people should just grow a thicker skin and not get bothered by what some person, they have never seen and most likely will never see in their life, has to say about what you are doing. Everyone gets abused in online games - big deal. And 99% dont care for it. 1% are crying that those people basicly should get canceled from life because for what they said. As usual these days, people are putting words higher than actions: - One side cries for toxic people, because they "ruin" their enjoyment - The other side is angry at people, who are ACTIVELY ruining their fun by being egomaniacs (MY FUN, [edited]THE REST). Which one is worse? -
Wikipedia But does the advantage come from itself or do i need to do something for it? I guess we can agree, that a certain part would get no benefit at all, regardless if you let them play Lexington or Enterprise. Another, much smaller part, would only gain slight advantages, as they are already so good that they can do the same with any other CV too. Leaves the middle part which is up for debate i guess. But there you can also see people with Enterprise having worse stats than with a Lexington. Downside being, that HE bombers are easier to use than AP bombers. I also know people who prefer other BBs than Massa, because they prefer more accurate mainguns. And in the end, what would be an acceptable deviation in WR? Can i get 2% more WR from Enty/Massa than with any other ship? Or is that already p2w?

Doesnt matter imo. We already went downhill with TX premiums/freemiums. How is a 700 battle ARP Yamato different from a 700 battle Thunderer? It isnt... -
Eh, i disagree. I dont think we have p2w in WoWs. Just looked at wikipedia, and apparently some people think, WoT is p2w, but not for the premium ammo ?! lol... so i guess they would say, WoWs is p2w too. Only people who have no idea would actually write this. Didnt know that i can raise my WR by exchanging XP to FreeXP

Because you are pissing on their fun by playing something which you have no clue how to play properly. Would you go play football with some others and start throwing the ball with your hands into the goal? No, ofc not, but if you did, people would also be mad at you at not play with you any longer. In Wows, they dont have a choice to not play with you. If you enter a game with (bought) hightier ships, people get mad because they expect you do to badly with it. If you do badly, they lose aswell. Its not only about you having fun - you are also ruining the fun for others. Let that sink in...- 130 replies

Just to make sure I meant that island, way earlier in the game. With help from my teammates, it could have been potentially better and stop the enemies from pushing out. Or if they did, they could get crossfired. But since everything was working against that, i saw no reason to go there. I did talk with @ForlornSailor about the same, he also said, maybe i should have gone closer to the island instead. But as i said, i think it would have been worse. -
Reminded me of a game lately, can be seen on Twitch. Its not me, but im in the division (the Yamato) https://www.twitch.tv/videos/801670517?t=0h5m47s We are 7 vs 4 (one enemy DD not spotted, but he capped C). In that situation, i dont have issues going forward, because you have to win the flank. You can pretty much count on your other flank losing, because they are less. Even if they manage to kite, they still gonna lose the flank/cap, which means you have to support them. A DD would help in that situation, but they are at B/C. Instead we had a CV, which is good enough for spotting. He could have dealt better with the Shima, but... eh, it worked out. Always assess the situation. Do you have to push: yes/no? Thats the question to start with. If you have superior forces, and the enemies neither push nor kite, but sit at islands, you have a good chance of advancing. Trying longrange snipefest is a good way to lose, as at some point your teammates might do stupid yolo stuff or show broadside, and then you lose ships on your strong flank. If the weak flank also lost, thats when you are in the crap. If you are in a div, try to get a coordinated push. And hope the sheep follow you without doing stupid stuff.
