After playing pretty much nothing but cv's this past few weeks and seeing the OPness of the Soviet cv line and how redundant the RN line is, an idea has struck me. i kept it for myself, but became highly curious on what the other peoples opinion on this little proposal would be.
Royal Navy Carriers: The idea here is to make RN aircraft the most reliable but at the same time, have less damage output than other nations cv's. I Propose the following changes
•Replace Tech tree torpedo bombers with skip bombers, carrying small caliber bombs (same ones as the standard bombers), but would drop less bombs, so the damage would be lighter but easier and safer to land hits than normal bombers. They would be even more limited to lighter targets as the bombs would not have high penetration.
Implacable and Audacious's upgraded aircraft would have very high cruising speed but a weak boost.
Implacable • attack aircraft: cruising speed:185 boost speed:190
• level bombers: cruising speed:177 boost speed:184
• skip bombers: cruising speed:180 boost speed:189
Audacious: • attack aircraft: cruising speed:195 boost speed: 201
• level bombers: cruising speed:188 boost speed:194
• skip bombers: cruising speed:190 boost speed:195
This for would reinforce the reliable nature of the british aviation and compensate for their lackluster damage. (If its too much please call out!) I personnally think this would make British cvs more unique and interesting to play and give them a place among other nations cv's.
Ark royal, Furious and Hermes would have their TB's replaced by skip bombers other than that everything else remains unchanged.
As for Indomitable i would change the following: Give it torpedo bombers, and increase the size of the squadrons and reserves by 2 for each type and a 5% Hp buff for planes .
Soviet Carriers: I Think the largest problem with the Soviet cv's are their skip bombers which can ignore the aa of any ship and cause massive damage with little to no danger at all. The idea is to make the carriers of Russians more high risk-high reward with small tweaks to stats and one major change. these changes are as follows.
•Replace skip bombers with dive bombers. These DB's would carry the bombs that have the same stats as skip bombers, but would have to get closer to the enemy, this would make them more punishing against heavy aa ships but, still reward the player for choosing the right targets.
•Chkalov would have its Skip bombers replaced with a small squadron of Dive bombers carrying AP bombs. There would be 5 planes in the squadron each of them would drop 1 bomb and each bomb would be capable of dealing 5800 damage if its manages to hit the citadel of a ship.
And Thats pretty much it. my ideas to how to put a bit more relevancy to the Britts and blunt the teeth of the Soviet cv's just a little.
