OFC they do, the ASW is not meant to actually COUNTER subs that can comfortably fire torps from say 8-9km now, its meant as a token "defense" so a) one can have an illusion of actually doing something against the said sub and b) WG can claim they implemented ASW on all ships... I mean fact ASW is useless and unusable now that subs can ping and shoot from stealth doesnt really enter into the eqasion, today I hit a sub sith 6 plane dropped depthcharges and she still survived and OFC killed me and several other ships at that flank until a DD finally put her down...

Dude ASW has 0 edit influence on sub play if you cant edit see her to drop that edit on top of her now does it...

You can if you are able to jump them, ih you need to go in the clear or god forbid chase them its better to find something else to do...
