A good nagato will see you coming a long way off, and kite you into cc fire or german BBs. She's faster and has more accurate guns at range. As I said before, you're chances of a favorable engagement in a colorado are very low because of her speed.

I can only reiterate the good points that have been made regarding the new skill tree. I'm really concerned that all these skills seem to be very BB positive and dd and cc negative. Let's face it, there is never a shortage of BB players at the moment. For example a dd going against a BB in the new patch: 2 planes, better spotting of both dd and torps, radio to give rough position and practically 50% less fire chance now there is only 1 central section, oh and better damaging HE for BBs (the only ships that can afford to lose the fire chance per shell.) I have spent a lot of money on this game, I will be very saddened to see the environment I so enjoyed wasted by these skills creating BB only ques. I for one won't touch a dd again knowing the sky will be filled with spotter planes and that they will always know I am coming for them. And why take out my CCs that now have less fire chance and less potential damage against BBs that could already lol pen me at my max range. CVs will have no hope of balancing a BB heavy meta with these insane AA builds and it is now world of battleships and nothing else. I wouldn't play in this meta, not even in coop for the BB soup we'd be drowning in.

German BB's are making me want to quit this game...
Thracen replied to Cheeselord18's topic in General Discussion
The most important aspect of this game is positioning, if you can't control your position you can't use your strengths or compensate for your weaknesses. This is why the lolorado sucks. It is too slow allowing all the other ships it faces to dictate engagements and it means you are always a target. Throw in teams that turn and ditch you and things get worse. On top of this you can't turn like the germans can without risking death. Its best gun range is 10 to 15km at those distances you've already let a genu or a shiny horse get too close. Talk all you want about armour and heals, if you can't use them you have lost. -
I appreciate your efforts and see your points are well thought out and backed up. Sadly, this ship is terrible hands down no questions asked. Why you say? When it has good armour guns and maneuverability? Because you don't get to use them effectively. When every ship is faster than you they get to pick the engagement not you. So you don't get to shoot at between 10-15km and you don't get to angle against incoming fire. But most importantly, you cannot stick with your team. You could double the HP of the colorado and she still would be well balanced. DDs will still torp her as she angles against long range IJN fire or vise versa and german BBs can do it all themselves, flanking round at 30knots to put rounds right into her side so large the torps that come afterwards should come out the other side undetonated. All while your team leaves you well behind.
-
How on earth is she your favourite ship? I think she is terrible. She is slow, eats damage and any extra gun power is lost because if you don't fight bow on you get sunk. fast. I would love to think it's because the wargaming boffins forgot some plate somewhere, lets face it anything is possible. I too would be interested in this 16mm plates heritage.
-
Even upgraded the lolorado is outclassed by everything she fights in the current MM. I haven't seen a tier 5 in her, at best I'm mid tier. You are too slow to position against german BBs that have 10 knots on you. You are food to nearly everything. I would rather have german guns too. Anybody that says she isn't outclassed is foolish and you spend your time against genus, tirpitz, bismarck and shiny horses all of which will eat you at any range, which ofcourse is their choice because of the speed difference. To be clear, leave the US bb line till last, the very best ships in this line are average at best.

Yep, I'd be curious about your assessment as well. Although I still consider myself a new player, just to give you an idea of my expectations. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

I am frustrated by the whole fiasco, I can understand why they want to treat servers differently, they are vastly different markets, most international digital companies hide their EU price hikes in the currency exchange rate. No need to mess with products etc. What I don't understand is how they have gone about it. Any average EU play would tell you this isn't going to go well. Did they think we wouldn't find out? No they must have done. Did they think we wouldn't care that much? Maybe, but unlikely. Do they know we can't do anything about it? Yep, this is the one. Most players will not move servers, most players will not change their behavior at all. They don't care about their community contributors or they are incapable of managing them (either or). I for one have spent my last penny on this game until there is improvement on this matter, shame, I really fancied a scharnhorst or a tirpitz for christmas. -
14 co op matches in a row, 1 had a carrier, he spawned on the opposite corner, got to him just in time to watch a BB shoot him even after asking him for his help. God damn this achievement. I had more fun getting the nacchi. How do they expect most of the sever to do this? I'm going to have to join a clan or bribe someone to division with me as a cv. Oh and the 13 rubbish flag container crate for "going gold" was pathetic. Honestly I question their decision making far more than I should for a company of this size and experience.
-
So after 10 co op games in a row with no cv to torp I am less than pleased. I am unsure as to why they didn't include cv launched torps. Then anyone with a cv can easily get the achievement on co op and those that don't will at least have more cvs in the co op que. But I am of course a mere mortal bound by simple human logic, not whatever they use at wargaming HQ.

So the fletcher was my first tier 9, I think I'm a good player and know my roles well. but I can't get my win rate above 40%. My lifetime stats are average in the ship because I played it with a newish commander, (still not 15 points) and without free exping anything and even being unable to afford the 3mil module for a while. My first attempt to cure my plauge was here: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/62669-fletcher-3m-module-upgrade/page__st__40__p__1428685#entry1428685 I think I struggle most in the early game, I wait for support from ccs, that never comes unable to take on the dds I want to while they are covered by their own ccs, usually mogami's, belfast's and des moines. I can torp the russian ccs that come for me but the others are torp immune due to the ruder shift and hydro. Fletcher is a hybrid but I can't get either the guns or torps onto bbs without having to deal with hordes of dds and ccs first. I spot carefully and call targets, I push for points where my team is close to and smoke them in if they are anywhere close to a cap. I lose in this ship, more than any other ship I play. It must be me, but I don't know what more I can do. All I want is to pick up a daily win bonus on the weekend to get my last skill but it takes 8 matches and puts me on tilt. I have uploaded some replays, but the site seems to be borked at the moment. I will add links when I can. Any help would be much appreciated.

Rethyl. My guess is EU is treated differently because we spend more, so every thing they give us for free is lost sales. The other servers have less disposable income on average. It's easy to revers the logic and say wg are helping the other severs keep on par with our larger wallets while trying to encourage the smaller server populations to grow into such a profitable market as ours. It's clear why they treat us differently. It's like any business, if there is more money on the table you take it. That said, giving one arbitrary group something and not another will always upset people and wg can't explain their decision making without admitting they're milking us harder. We all know it, but every company knows not to say it out loud. Thus PR is born, something wg struggle with funnily enough.
-
Just did it, (3/4) it isn't just incapacitations it includes other module damage as well which I didn't realise. Now it's bismark time me thinks.
-
You say any he cc will do but I'm having a little trouble, is there one you would recommend? Almost did it in my mogami, but got kill stolen twice, I don't have the rate of fire of other ccs or high alpha of bbs so when it mattered they went to the players behind me not tanking fire in both cases. Bitter, so very bitter .
-
This just killed me, I tried popping smoke at around 18 knots, usually the rule is 20, 1 single puff. Dead. Why can't they make it consistent? Why can't they get rid of the activation bug when it comes of cool down? Why does it take a minute after the timer is up on the cyclone warning before it actually turns up? Because wargaming likes killing their players with vague inconsistent information? Because they don't give a crapabout the little stuff when they are trying to build the half of the game that isn't here yet and the 1/4 of the game that is already broken? The frustrating thing is we have to guess the answers because wargaming communication if consistently poor, ask the contributors. As for those links up above, I didn't find an official response in any of it?

All I'm missing from the ideal build is 0.6km concealment, and I play with that weakness in mind. I appreciate all your efforts and advice but none of this is new to me. I check for radar ccs at the beginning of a match, I don't expect to solo a gearing and I only tackle kebabs up close. The area I want to improve on is what to do while those ccs are locking down points to push the game in my favour and on to the mid game other than smoke for teams that may or may not use it and spot both enemy ships and torps.
-
I totally do this, I enjoy shredding 10-12 planes a match and keeping my softer targets safe. Happily trade the speed boost even when cvs don't turn up.
-
As stated, I played 10 fletcher games yesterday, I try to play 1 for the win bonus, I'm moaning because it always turns into about 6 and often even more. Also I see just as many shimas/gearings and kebabs in my benson/kagero and the rest of my tier 8 ships. My problem is that you can't take these effective positions when their are still new orleans and other radar ccs around and you can't take the fights you want until the rest of the ccs are thinned. Up until this point I feel ineffective. Also these superunicums in dds should be on my side also? Until the game moves off the "cc camping behind islands waiting to light up a point with radar" stage I don't know how to be effective beyond spotting for torps and trying to smoke allies. Are you really saying that the step to the fletcher is so large a 30% win rate is expected? I'm constantly trying to improve, I think I'm a good player considering I've been at this a little over 3 months. I trawl these forums and watch loads of youtube content to figure this stuff out. I'm familiar and apply many of the tactics you mention, I agree with you that there is a dd mindset. Once and game transitions I can do my job : https://wowreplays.com/Replay/25124 but I want to learn how to push through this first stage as opposed to playing the passive opportuinist and hoping it happens.
-
I've had to replace my microphone and I foolishly let my family wrap it for Christmas so until then and I can get back on discord or TS I'm playing solo. It's easy to put it down to randomness but the only ships I actually use that have less than a 52% win rate are this and the colorado, all solo play. The lolorado is 33% and I lose in that ship because if you don't spawn in the right spot 22 knots top speed doesn't get you where you need to be. Up against it's tier 7 counter parts it's a joke. The fletcher is down at 34% which after 41 matches must be my fault. I lost 9 out of 10 games in it yesterday :S.
-
I have come to the same realisation, the problem I have is my team losing in the meantime. With planning and a little support when it comes to the gearing I can have good success rates against enemy dds mid game, BBs are obviously even easier. What I want to know is how can I get a match to that stage more often. I feel helpless when I can't get onto a cap and my team starts dropping like flies, I even smoke for them and they sail straight through it and die.
-
These are all things I do at this stage, my british ccs taught me about that sort of exit planning, and I don't pick bad fights. My survivability isn't actually a problem anymore like it was in the beginning. It's being effective while waiting for bbs to take care of the cc screens so I can clean out any dds left and get to the real impact stage of the match. Flamu taught me the value in baiting smoke and I pick up sooo many kills torping into smoke of panicked dds leaving mine untouched.

Matchmaking and/or players are absolutely terrible lately!

Just had 4 matches in a row in my benson, topped the table twice and came 3rd twice, lost every match. Will update if I can face a 5th. -

Anybody see that china brought in a rule to force game companies to declare drop rates of random crates? It might only apply to purchasable ones but I certainly like the idea. -
hey chaps, I've done a lot of searching and haven't found anything recent on this. I just played a match as a bottom tier cv against a team that was 2/3rds tier 8. I managed 1 torp hit, dropping from max range down a narrow choke and 5 bomb hits. I spent most of the game spotting dds nobody else bothered shooting at. It was a terrible experience, with my planes getting picked out of the sky before I could even see the ships killing them. I was utterly at the mercy of the match unable to do anything to change it's course. I spent the last 5 minutes of the match watching youtube since I had no planes left and had parked in the furthest corner. So, we all know cvs are a mess, for exp, for credits and now I realise mm. We all know that wg are waiting to figure it out. But traditionally wg make small changes often as opposed to big changes less so, for good reason. So why not start here and give cvs 1 tier up or down mm? It goes quite nicely with the recent credit and exp nerf. I used to ignore my cv but now there are so many missions requiring them we can't really ignore them any more. I would like to hear thoughts on being bottom tiered in a match as a cv in terms of coping and any small easily implementable changes that could help cvs.
