    Benser thank you so much for all this. I understand all you say and it actually makes sense with the experience I have with the Moskva. Two things don't make sense to me though. The videos showing Moskvas going head to head with BBs after the 50mm buff and doing like 200k damage and the fact that when playing, other tier 10 players urge the Moskva to not hug the terrain but join the front line and brawl with the BBs ..which every time I yield and do, I die... badly and quickly... Surely these guys urge me because that is what other Moskva captains do, right? I thought that is the way to play this ship, but when I do....death. What you say makes absolute sense, but at the same time it is not what the teammates expect from me... I am utterly confused...

    I am sorry if I am too late in this discussion but I have had a Moskva for some time now and I absolutely cannot enjoy playing her. All other stuff aside (like people demanding you turn on your radar even though they are out of range, and then reporting you) I have immense problems with angling. I thought 50mm buff WoW!! great....first game got citadeled through the bow by an Izumo, same game got something like 17k damage by a single Montana shell to the stern!!! Second game, got to tanking against a Musashi and a Grosser Kurfürst, both ships were about 20 degrees of my bow one port one starboard at about 20km, with their first salvos got me down to 15k, that was almost 50k damage through the front. Needless to say I was confused. Same thing happened later where ships from Tiers 9 and 10 continued to tear me apart with AP through the front...5k damage per shell was the minimum sustained.. I am being reduced to a useless 10k health ship faster than I can turn my guns... What is it that I am missing? I've seen the damn youtube videos and I am trying to do the same!!! Also, before, I used to citadel north carolina's and Izumos and Des Moines all the time from 20km away, now I can't citadel anything!

    I have done that. The results are better. BUT .. if you 'make your living' with a Russian cruiser, you learn that being close enough to be able to aim the superstructure of a BB means you will be dead very very shortly after. For my skill to be able to reliably aim the superstructure of a BB means I am under 8Km away .. Do you know what the secondaries of a Bismark will do to you if you are under 8Km range? Plus and I don't know how that is possible, I am pretty sure I got citadeled from a Bismark at 8-9km bow on, single shell for 12000 HP. I am almost 100% only one shell hit!
  6. Hi all I still consider myself a noob even after playing for a few months now. I almost exclusively play the russian cruiser line. I'am up to the Shchors now. I have noticed something that is annoying me and I wanted to share with you just in case somebody has some info. It is about the HE damage the russian line (since they all have the same guns pretty much tier 6 to 8) does to enemy ships. I have recorded the HE damage only from some of my latest games and the number of shells hitting the target in the game. The results are ... well... bad. Here it is : #shells damage from HE average per shell 85 23743 279.3294118 49 18379 375.0816327 42 11664 277.7142857 53 22358 421.8490566 14 4599 328.5 47 18214 387.5319149 105 20169 192.0857143 41 14382 350.7804878 326.609063 total average These are without including the fires set or AP ..just HE. Now, I am regularly matched up with tiers 8 and 9. How is one expected to make any positive difference/impact for their team with such a low average HE damage. The maximum HE damage is 2200 if I am not mistaken, I would expect an average of between 800-1000 over 100 shells fired for instance, but NO. Notice how all are under 500HP. That means that to do about 80.000 damage in a game with HE you need to fire and hit with 245 shells !!! The other day I couldn't finish a tier 8 destroyer !!! I was hitting and hitting and hitting and I couldn't finish her off. Broadsides to a dd .. with 12 guns ..and I couldn't eat away her measly 13000 Hit points or so. Please don't comment by saying use AP. The most common ship I am firing at is the Bismark !! .. AP makes no impression on it at 14km. I have only played the Russian line up to tier 7. Do fellow captains from other trees get similar low HE average damage numbers?

    Thanks for this, I do however have a question in regards to range. Since most ships in these battles are fast(-ish), I find that shooting at maximum range requires to zoom out on the range finder. Usually for a ship doing about 25-28 knots to hit a broadside at full range I place the bow just before the 15 mark on the cross-hair and that is a just after mid-ships hit. But with ships doing much faster the ship is outside the range finder. When you zoom out, the aim (in relation to the crosshair) is not so accurate. Any advice on that?

    Hey guys Having gotten to Tier 5 on the russian tree, I was looking forward to the Kirov. Playing the Kirov is the most frustrating thing I have done so far in this game. I knew it was a paper ship, but that is not the only problem. I am only mentioning this because the grind is unbearable in a Kirov. Right, so I knew it's a paper ship, but I was looking forward to its guns. What I found: Because of the increase in the detectability range to the gun's maximum range, the ship is seen from everywhere. So more shells fly at you. 2nd, the ship has slow rate of fire and hence will lose a fight even to a tier 4 cruiser. -Tier 4 you said? But you got awesome 180mm guns!! .. which brings me to point 3 and the most important. RNG hates the guns of this ship! I don't know what modifiers it's got, but it will give you a huge salvo with a massive citadel at 10-12km on the broadside of say a Kuma, but then you get to 8 to 6 km, you might be firing broadsides all day long and you will get 410hp ... that is what I have been getting for almost a week now.. 410, 410 410. .. you get a massive 12000 citadel, you bring the ship down to 3000hp and you think, yeah, one more salvo, and then ...410 410 410... and its 14 seconds between those 410s .. and these guys hit you every 8 .. you are dead before you know it. I did my all time high damage with the Kirov at ~ 110k .. but to do this, I was simply chasing the battle group around and be the second guy firing at the bb, the closest friendly bb was shooting at. You don't get more than one or two kills this way, but you certainly rack the damage up. The problem is, that if your team sucks, then following a bb and assisting is a quick way to the bottom. Anyway, other Kirov players, are you getting the same annoying 410 damage all the time when firing AP? PS, the other thing I noticed was that HE is more accurate than AP with this ship. I am not sure how that can be, but.. yeah..

    Hi guys... still a noob here. I noticed that if I have to go up from Wyoming to the next battleship in tier 5 I need ship (gray/silver) XP . but if I want to go up from the Svetlana to the tier 5 ship in the line (Kirov) I need gold XP. Why this distinction? or am I doing something wrong? what is that all about ? thanks

    Cruisers - What's best?

    I've also found that playing a cruiser you are much more dependent on your team than a BB or a DD. To explain; you need to play to your ship's strengths, you need to find a target that is suitable and you need to start hitting it. If in the meantime the rest of your team allows you to be surrounded or targeted by other ships, you're toast! BB's can take the punishment and DD's can run away, but a cruiser will die in seconds, in any tier if it gets surrounded. I have played with teams which naturally protected one another and didn't allow ships to be surrounded or targeted by multiple opponents, equally I've played games where every man is for himself and ..well... it isn't a fun game.

    Hey all, Agantas Thanks for the reply. Turns out you are kind of right. I have found a strategy that works against Friants and I am more confidently sending them to the bottom now. This was however my personal rant as I saw my beloved Bogatyr receiving the wrong end of the stick. It doesn't change my perception of the Friant being OP though. I mean that ship starts with one of the longest (if not the longest) gun ranges in the game at Tier 3 and that is without any added extra skills. It has got pretty damn good torpedoes for its Tier and 30 knots of speed. I mean come on... it screams OP from a mile away. Someone said it turns like a cow. Perhaps it does ( I actually got a Friant and played a couple of games in her) but the point is not complete turns but sharp changes in direction which at 30 knots make someone firing at you from a distance miss.

    Hi Guys I have been playing the Bogatyr almost exclusively. It is a limited ship, but fun to play and quite powerful. In most ways I liked it a lot more than the St. Louis. I am not awesome in it, but I am good enough to enjoy it. Ever since the French ships joined the game, the EU servers flooded with Friants and they are ridiculously overpowered! First of all, with my Bogatyr, I can't hit them, they are too fast and agile, long range is out of the question and short range impossible since they outrun you way too easily. Their guns are ridiculously good and powerful. AP doesn't seem to affect them at all and HE in the Bogatyr is not rolling high numbers to begin with anyway. Needless to say that although in an 1-on-1 with a St. Louis I usually come our alive and with more than half my HP with the St. Louis sent to the bottom, against a Friant I am lucky if I sink her and have more than 150 HP left. + It has torpedoes!!! I also (mostly out of curiosity) got myself a Wyoming, (which I suck at) but I managed to fire a full AP broadside to a Friant and i did 810 Damage!!! A full AP broadside before has destroyed Svetlana's and other tier III and tier IV cruisers but the Frient just went along just fine. Plust there are now so many of them in the servers that even if I survive their guns I am too slow to find anything to kill! What are your thoughts?
