Do you earn xp for different tiers or types of ships? For example if you are collecting to get a higher tier cruiser say, do you earn xp towards that cruiser with other cruisers or that particular cruisers country of origin ships? I ask because I have only 11,000 left to get the Pensacola, which is 70,000 xp but I need 18,000 to get the Farragut which is only 39,500??

Ok, got it thanks, all makes sense now! By the way not exactly new, been playing since beginning of August and love it! I have now amassed 14 ships including the Pensacola - made enough exp on the Cleveland to get her, just got to upgrade the modules now.

So, if I'm playing with St Louis III and Cleveland VI(cruisers), these ships EXP will count towards the ship in the next tier, ie Pensacola VII as all they're modules are fully upgraded? And Destroyers Clemson, Wickes and Nicholas towards the Farragut?
