    I have this problem too. Replacing the preferences file with a backup also doesn't fix it. It does not work like before.

    I dislike the animations, the look and feel of that support ship (overly modern for a WW1 / WW2 setting) and the whole process is cumbersome like you said. Great concept, annoying implementation. But I guess I can live with it.

    I must say the >70s reload time and the fact that 10km range is quite useless due to spread and travel time, doesn't even make that look so bad. But I guess we'll only know how it will turn out when the split happens. What is the ETA on that do you know?

    I don't think the ship is OP in the overall balance, but it is stronger than other cruisers and "P2W" in that strict sense This tells you more about the state of (mid-tier) cruisers than the Belfast itself though.

    Anyone else thinks the chest idea is nice but it looks gimmicky and too modern. Bad animations, just ugly. My second "try your luck" container gave a supercontainer, got 250 flags.

    Exactly. So, WG believes that it is not as bad as it is portrayed. And there is little evidence that the Belfast will indeed ruin balance. This whole situation smells like forum drama. We are all going off one Flamu video. Great player but hardly representative of the rest of the casuals that will try to omgwtfpwn in Belfast. I played against the other British cruisers yesterday and I have never farmed so many citadels. It's like every salvo landed a citadel hit or two. Everyone just chill.

    Is an aimbot still a thing?

    I'm not sure what you were Googling, but what I found was a video on YouTube regarding aimassist. No aimbot, as in, automatic and 100% accurate aiming. From the looks of it the aimassist is pretty much worthless because every time the enemy is not sailing in a straight line the predictor lags behind and you will just have to aim yourself. So basically, this helps you aim against straight line sailing scrubs and is the most useless tool ever.

    Ok noob question how does this work in ranked, you have separate stats for those modes? I have yet to start ranked.

    You could read it as: we don't really understand it either Anyway, a lot of the changes seem agreeable to me. Spotting and potential damage were already in the game. Flat service fee is fine, unless it puts the high tier economy out of whack - but you were not supposed to make a profit there anyway. Up until at least tier 7 can still easily rake in good profits. So nothing changed except maybe for high tier carriers who relied on surviving while dealing massive damage. Really, the only way someone can have an 'unexplainable' result on a high damage game, is if they got a few lucky citadels from way too far away. In that scenario you can do high damage and delete some ships but you lose out on all the other ways of gaining credits and XP. On the flipside you might still get reasonable income without doing high damage. You finish the game with 10k damage because your team gets the high damage shots while your shots fly up down left and right from your target at 6km away. Sounds good to me.

  17. I'm not sure you need that big a pool per se, but you would need it to get a game quickly (every 30 seconds or so like you have in WoWs). The FAF community is really small, which means that you have to wait in lobby for an extended period of time. Also, the automatic matchmaker for teams was unavailable when I last played FAF, but the point remains that it has accurate rating fo team performance.
  18. Good news then. It's available free for use. http://trueskill.org/ It was used by Microsoft in Halo 3 and other types of (team) games too. It's recognized as being better than ELO. I've personally seen it in action in 6v6 team games in FAF. http://wiki.faforever.com/index.php?title=How_Trueskill_works To be clear this is not 1v1 rating, which is counted separately, this is actual team based rating.

    This weekend has been horrendous ...

    Several games tier 5 - 7 seemed like a steamroll with the enemy surviving with 7 or 8 ships. I have 20 games in Myoko recently, with 20% winrate. Even in Fuso with good damage and kills, only 33% wins. However I have no problems winning 60% or more on lower tiers. Did notice some AFK ships though. I wonder how much of an issue the supposed bots really are. Anyone have some real information?
  21. All the people complaining about pub play, should realize they are playing pub. For real competition play, well, competitive game modes. Or games with a serious competitive community. In this game it would be team battles I suppose.

    Can you explain exactly how the game was adjusted after CBT / OBT? Is it just that things like long range torps were nerfed while BB stayed untouched, effectively buffing them?

    I personally would not feel useful seeing long range fire miss while 3 caps are already in the red, and I hope this goes for everyone. If people are actually content just parking their BB and not give a damn about what's happening that would be quite sad. I never played WoT but I can imagine it is some kind of mentality issue carried over from that game. I hear it's full of casuals anyway. However sometimes your team gets stomped on so hard that you have no choice but hang back and shoot at the incoming hurt train. I feel that BB also get unwarranted hate for not being in the cap area at minute 3.

    Are battleships really that easy for noobs? I'm new and I find I can do just as well or better in the other classes. It's not like you need some godly form of strategic insight to understand ho stay unspotted and not show your fat belly. The higher rate of fire also means these classes are a lot more forgiving. Missing a salvo with your battleship effectively puts you out of commission for a whole minute. Then dispersion kicks in (hi Myogi).

    This only works with a large playerbase, otherwise you will be waiting for ages to get a game. Try playing a game with skill based team matches, like Supreme Commander FA, and you will know what I mean. If you get in a high enough range there you will either play nobody or the same players over and over. A solution is to put one 2200 rated player with 3 potatoes against 4 average players but hey - that's exactly what already happens in wows today. So if you think "skill based MM' is the end all solution you are very much mistaken or at least misinformed.
