No idea, but it seems to be something that didn't happen before so I'm going to go with bug.

Wrong afaik, and just a Montana thing in general

As in: not get killed. If you want more than that and counter the radar threat, you need really good torps. Or competent BB teammates and you know how that goes.

I don't want captain slots when I ask for signals and Camo!!

So it costs you 4 flags every now and then. Is this really an issue? -
It has an awesome ending, really decisive move from the Yamato

Top tier DDs 8-10, do people enjoy them?
walter3kurtz replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
I enjoy top tier DD's a lot but you have to be on your toes (yet with low detection range and agility you can also afford a mistake or two so it's not that bad). My favorites: - Gearing, don't let anyone tell you anything different the range on the torps makes all the difference in the radar meta. Best cap fighter bar smoked up Z52. - Udaloi gets the best of both worlds, Khaba guns, strong torpedoes, smoke and speed - Fletcher because it spams torps like a machinegun - LoYang because screw other DD's. Abysmal torps and weak gun power mean low damage on other ships though. -
I don't see why people cry over a few DD with radar / hydro when there are cruisers with extreme range and duration radar everywhere. I can honestly count the times I've been killed by a radar or hydro from a DD on the fingers of one hand. Having problems with any radar is mostly a L2P issue, but the fact that it is so strong on cruisers / Missouri means you can't do anything unless you have high tier long range torps.

What's wrong with my recent winrate?
walter3kurtz replied to Contender83's topic in General Discussion
It's hard to carry in a BB when your team is weak unless you get a few dev strikes really, really early. To answer your question: it's just RNG even though it doesn't seem like it sometimes. Your recent stats seem fine but we don't know what happened exactly. Maybe the damage was done to irrelevant targets, your target selection was wrong etc. but I doubt it. Seems like just a case of bad luck and perhaps having to get back into the game. Aiming with USN BB and the extra lead you need can throw off salvo's that could otherwise turn the game. -

Where did I say you don't? We are discussing the value of skills. Besides, you might learn a thing or two from the master of brawling, I have 18% survival rate in Gneisenau while you sit at a disgusting 59% -

13,5 vs 15,7km detection helps you a lot in closing the distance, you don't want to announce your arrival any sooner than necessary. Also disengaging can be vital. A case can be made for skipping CE on BB's entirely if you believe that you should constantly shoot and tank, but I personally want to be able to use concealment. I don't believe that being in the middle of the action for a long period of time is possible in any BB. You just get focused down. -

I thought this was not recommended generally, because you have to give up CE and a lot of survivability and the secondaries are meh -
Well, what I meant is that 'fair' is a value judgment. Of course tier 8 ships have stats that are inferior to their higher tier counterparts. But the game gives you ways to deal with it (do damage, survive, get XP) so in my eyes it's not 'unfair'. It's a challenge. It's made like this by design and if you are really against this type of inequality then you should consider another type of game (strictly 1v1 with equal arms).

10% faster repair party, plane and/or hydro is pretty useful on a BB. Repair party is also on high tier cruisers of course. -
Massive wall of quotes @EdiJo You disagree but don't call it 'fact' because you think it is true. MM being 'unfair' for lower tier can never be a fact because it's a value judgment. Apparently you struggle when uptiered, others don't. Many of the maps give you perfect opportunity to spam over islands, it's basic cruiser play and it's passive damage farming. While it might contribute to the win and you might feel that you are hard carrying, when you look at your 100k damage and 3 kills, it's probably damage that took you 20 minutes to accumulate, was largely healed back and did not take out any enemy guns until very late. Contributing to the win is much easier in a CV, DD and also a well played BB (because lol alpha strike). New players are at a disadvantage for many reasons, you name a good number of them, I don't see that as a problem of -2/+2 MM. It's just how newbs rise through the ranks. We all had to do it.

If you need a cue to get into action when you are already that far into a match, you are way too late. The cue is at 5 minutes so there is time to act.

@CLyDeThaMonKeY raised a fair point in his stream. This captain can be used on mid tier brawling German BB that don't have hydro and don't need a secondary build. So it could be a good Gneisenau or Scharnhorst captain. These boats don't need the full tank build of the tier 9 and 10 either. So something like this seems the optimal use of Franz van Jutland: http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc/0100000001000010000001010100000119 Too bad I don't have a Scharnhorst, or the elite XP to pump Jutland to 19 points for that matter. -
This game is designed to have an uneven playing field, while this brings with it disadvantages, you also get a MM advantage eventually. I guess we will agree to disagree on ships being unable to work in tier -2 MM. Any tier 8 cruiser can work in tier 10 MM for example. You just block LoS with islands or smoke and/or kite and disengage. Basic concepts for average players. What is hard however, is carrying in a tier 8 cruiser (or most cruisers for that matter) because blocking LoS means playing strictly passive. But that's more of a class specific issue than an MM issue if you ask me.
-
I seriously don't see an issue with +2 MM, every ship can be made to work in that situation. You get compensated with better XP for any reduction in damage that you may do as a result of the more difficult MM.
-
This is all true of course, but the reason why people feel playing CV is APM intensive is because you have to keep track of many squads. For me the biggest issue with this is not that I have to be aware of everything, that;s a matter of keeping mental notes of map positions, it's having to zoom out to map view to be able to "see". It takes multiple actions and maybe seconds before I'm on the scene.

I simply got to the point where buying any premium, no matter how good it is, just isn't interesting anymore. There are already premiums in my port that I don't even look at anymore. Especially tier 7 and below. Besides, prices are getting out of hand. The ships, the captains, the boxes, all overpriced. WG need to think if they want us to collect ships at cool prices or if they want us to treat premiums like a one off thing that you grind forever to make it worth the investment.

So 7,4km at 60kn? Assuming you take LS, AR, SE, SI en CE as the most useful build, you have 4 points left. Taking TA then means giving up RL or any of the 3 point skills. I guess I could live without those but I'm not sure I would want to trade it for less than 1km extra range on the torpedoes (compared to the Mk31) given that they are still the weak Mk15's. Getting JOAT as the other 2 point skill is nice for LoYang though. LoYang is an interesting boat for captain experimenting, because those last 4 points can be spent in a large number of ways. Personally I felt that BFT was not worth it, because AR gives a similar bonus and does it for the torpedoes too at only 2 points. TAE might be good but the torps are too situational in my eyes so I ended up with RL and find it useful as soon as the enemy starts to thin out.

You are right. Fletcher has good guns of course, but I don't use the guns as often as on lower tiers. If you try to pick a fight with an enemy DD in the early minutes you will get focused down by the red team. You lose half or more of your HP, have to run and don't get the cap or the kill probably. Fletcher guns get more useful in mid to late game when you can corner lone DD's and isolate other targets, you can even fall back on the smoke + pew pew tactics of lower tiers. In high tier games that is dangerous as well as ineffective. You also don't want to give your position away unnecessarily, you are better off relying on your torpedoes and only use the guns as a weapon of opportunity.

Agreed, worst season so far, I've quit already. Don't need a Flint anyway.
