    You have your highest average xp in your New Orleans. Do you like that ship and how it plays? If so, either get permacammo for it and play that (as you well get best results with a ship that you do well with) or get a Scharnhorst (often accused of being a cruiser and not a BB). Or stick at around T5 - 6 (Warspite is great) and just slowly build your silver reserves up. You need 2 mil for the concealment module for a T8 - so get yourself a nice buffer of 20 mil. edit to say that if you are going down the US light cruiser line, I'd get Mass rather than Alabama as IFHE really helps the secondaries (and no, you don't snipe with it either). You do have IFHE on your Cleve captain don't you as that could be one reason for not doing well in it.

    Oh I know - went in with my eyes open. You know, for science... Still cheaper than buying container after container trying to get it, which is what some will do. Gambling is a nasty addiction!

    Pretty low drop rate - nothing in 12 (premium) so not worth it. Basically, if you want the special captain, don't bother gambling, buy it outright.

    As much as Fiji is an almost "must take" the 5* that Cyclops posted was a close thing - the Gadjah Madah had to finish off the King as our Helena got slapped down hard by it's escorts. Gadjah dumped a load of torps into Missouri and went off to finish off King. I stayed to work over the Missouri (Scharhorst torps ftw) with the Lyon. Got to say that having a Lyon with it's AA & its howmanyguns is a real asset...

    If they're capping DDs to 4 per side, can they do it for BBs as well? 5 DDs per side is usually less bad than 5 BBs per side as at least DDs tend to push forwards...

  9. Much less stressful (& fairer to your team) to do it in co-op. Also if wins are required, co-op is much more reliable for that.

    Either faulty RAM chip or missmatched RAM - not entirely sure.

    Ah yes, speed boost. Yes, Lightning really could do with that. Being chased down by a Tirpitz is not fun... TBH I'm not going to judge the Lightning's guns until I have IFHE on it - only have a 10 pointer so far!

    Can I ask why you prefer Cossack to Lightning? Every one I've spoken to with both (so far) prefers Lightning.

    The bigger problem is not capping or refusing to cap, it's knowing when and where to push and when to return to the base and not push. People don't use the minimap or overall awareness - it took me longer than I'd like to admit to realise that I could change the transparency of the minimap so I could see through it so I could max it out. Tunnel visioning and chasing ships that are retreating is a problem, especially when they lead you into an ambush... Had a great game recently which we won by capping (was low on HP) but we took the cap after clearing our flank and the other flank was not in any immediate danger of falling. Had another great game where the team agreed to hold back but keep vision control (T8 DD in a T10 game so I kept with the plan). The reds pushed into our left flank one by one and got picked off one at a time. Their poor Yam got rewarded for pushing by eating 2 spreads of torps from behind an island. The rest of the team supported a slow push down the right flank, led by our T10 DDs which only got to a max of 3/4 down the map before we won. This is not me claiming to be a good player - I'm not - I do realise that one thing I do need to learn better is positioning and how to read the game as it unfolds round about me (also to learn each ship better and be patient and not say "stuff it" and yolo when I feel the game is lost already!)

    Added to this poll as other does not let me edit my answer. Pete, do you think that there should also be a section for how many normal crates people have opened? I had to open all of the ones from week 1 + another 15 from the arsenal to get all 4 (together with the bought [i.e. premium] ones). The only one I got from the Premium containers (of which I got 10) was the T5.

    Please tell me there'll be more opportunities to get Sovereigns? All in all this is pretty meh, especially when considering the pretty poor drop rate for DDs that people are experiencing.

    This and the one with the "taint" (sunray?) are going to be pretty much guaranteed failures in random. The "subs" mode - well good luck if everyone is running the Barracuda. You need someone(s) in the fast subs or you're done. First attempt (obv Barracuda). Move forwards, spotted. Dive & fire torps at spotting ships. By the time torps are reloaded & fired, lack of air. Boom. Loss. Second attempt. Slightly more progress. Didn't get to the area with Rasputin to support team before Boom. Third attempt. Play it stealthy. Hang back out of spotting range. Fire on targets as and when. Team evaporates. Last man standing with DDs closing in. Go for the ram (for giggles) as this is a loss. Fourth attempt. First shots from stealth. Then stay on surface and fire from the hip with the others on the flank also using 2ndary weapon and make better progress. Still don't get to the area with Rasputin to assist team (nor do the other 2 Barrracudas on my flank). Carried by random in Gyrefalcon to 4* victory. Fifth attempt. Mode moved out of rotation. Division only. GG WG, do you actually want us to test this or not? For a subs only mode, you need to make the AI less "good" at dodging torps or buff the Barracuda as this game mode is pretty pointless with it. Agree with Alpheus100 btw. WG, please balance normal mode for randoms not divisions/clans.

    IDK, it feels most of time like they should be a tier lower than they are - being bottom tier is definitely not fun. I'm guessing that they need IFHE as well as CE - just great - how many players have a 14 point captain at T7 or T8? It's not as if you can really leave CE off like you can with the US light cruisers. Lets just say that when you're in the Lightning running away from a Tirpitz who is determined to sink you 'cause you're the only thing between them and winning isn't easy, especially when their CV is keeping you spotted...

    Now that is true - happened with WoT console. Someone dug up the WoT matchmaker patent and asked WGCB if it was implemented in WOT:C. They made a statement that it wasn't implemented, however due to their track record of making statements that were subsequently considered to be proved false by the community, they were disbelieved by many!

    I threw the "tin foil hat" theory in for fun. You can debate that all you want as I honestly don't think that it's true! Thing is, it's the first question that needs answering (i.e. why would WG not have some algorithm in MM and/or RNG to help the n00bs) and a vague reference to "server side stats" doesn't answer that (it is, in point of fact, a circular argument and could be used to argue the exact opposite of your viewpoint). I'll give you an example of how it could be done. We already know that certain camo has the ability to worsen the accuracy of incoming fire. This could be done as a variable attached to the code for a particular ship. Add a simple multiplier to that variable with a table based on the player's hourly "experience" so far, or their general stats. Bingo. A nice soft tweak to that player's experience.

    Whilst I do not subscribe to the theory that WG is coddling (or punishing) players via RNG or MM, it is not beyond the bounds of possibility - this is a free to play game after all so it would make sense for WG to code something to throw newer (or less skilled) players a bone to keep them around and spending. As an aside, I have bought premiums and been thrown straight into top tier matches for the first few games so it may just be WoT that has the honeymoon period. For all of you that are mocking the OP and ForlornSailor, answer this, why would WG not have some algorithm in MM and/or RNG to help the n00bs? It would, after all be in their best interest (£££ wise!) If you want to consider a tinfoil theory, here's one (which I don't actually believe BTW) - proof that WG does play around with MM can be found in their refusal to apply skill matching MM (i.e. ensuring that the teams are balanced overall).

    Flavour so far seems to be a bit meh with overtones of despair and a light spritz of optimism. They are very situational and really don't seem to like being bottom tier. Feeling that the T7 may be better than the T8 but haven't had enough experience in them to call. Mostly experimenting in co-op but did have a good game in the T7 in a T9 game (Random). Do need a 10 pointer with CE though!
