At this juncture, no further time, resources and expense will be invested. To be frank, this turn of events is a huge disappointment as the lack of such assistance and rewards that has been granted to OMC seemingly after our contact with WG, made this a real uphill struggle to get off the ground. It is also felt that any similar exercise at this time will be to the detriment of the other, and therefore not help the game. Evidently our work was not in vain as this new tournament appears to have adopted many of the suggestions voiced in this thread. We may attempt to liaise with WG further, perhaps we can still realise our vision, but our #1 motivation was the furthering of the game through competitive gameplay, something which we all hope will be achieved by OMNI now with this similar project that has gained WarGaming's official support.

Though we were told WarGaming would not be looking to sponsor any tournaments, it appears things have changed. We are glad to see others succeed where we were unable and urge those who expressed an interest here to support this: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/58989-odem-mortis-community-cup-omc-cup

Whilst some, if not all (bar the prior contacting of teams) of the points are inaccurate, perception is not something that can be argued, and most likely shared. Therefore, as off the mark they may be, the points listed, among others, may well be the barriers that have prevented uptake. Going back to Rules, they are really two parts. Format, and more like 'Terms of Participation'. Format is straight forward, as publicised Tier VIII ships, with the usual caps as were in place for Team battles i.e 1 CV 2 BB's etc. Maps would also be those seen in TB's along with perhaps the newer ones. Terms Of Participation. This has been the aspect that has required the most time and attention. The original idea was conventional and rigid, the same pretty much as other esports etc. But with the Community's response it seemed a more tailored approach would be better pursued. The hope was the liaise with other leagues on other servers, which hasn't happened despite our efforts. Preparation was not limited to a homepage, to begin to detail all the work that has gone into this to date 'behind the scenes' is wouldn't be particularly beneficial and quite likely boring for most. The Website is a portal and contact point, with the idea it would be fleshed out as participation grew. With a gamble such as this has been, and with limited time and even more limited monetary resources, priority was given to the broadcast infrastructure and tournament administration, the foundations if you like, rather than the 'bells and whistles'. This may in fact prove to have been another catch 22 error. As for elitism, the hope was to start with a bang, get the top teams from last season battling and tbh trialling the platform to a degree, and follow up shortly after with the launch of a league open to all (as was publicised from the beginning) capitalising on the hype. Again, whilst elitism was not the intention, the perception that this was may have been contributory. In summary, things are not lost, efforts are still being made, but the longer the current situation lasts, the less likely it is that we will be able to co-ordinate leagues and tournaments on EU as was hoped.

The Team Captains of the top 8 Teams from last seasons Team Battles were each contacted directly through the forums direct messaging system. We're still working towards liaising with Supremacy Leagues on NA to share experience and ideas regarding the Rules, the way such initiatives are conducted etc, but in light of the poor reception as the closing date for registrations approaches. It is sadly becoming a fading priority as the contributing members who have volunteered their time resign to focusing on other projects.

Unfortunately not much to report. Only two of all the teams contacted responded, Aseveljet and Tora Tora Tora have been the only two registrations. The poor response may be due to the delay in the publication of the rules, the low interest has also hampered sponsorship efforts, with one seemingly keen almost confirmed partner not being heard back from.

Pinged you a PM regarding rules etc, many thanks for your willingness to help and share.

The rulebook is actually the main priority right now, like you say, it has to be as comprehensive and (pardon the pun) water tight as possible, yet not overly complicated. We'll definitely be in touch with you regarding your experiences, and will post a draft here for the community to 'proof read' and add their experience and suggestions to.

In response to the esport debate, we'd like to stress that that's more of a long term goal. First and foremost this is an initiative for players to have fun pitting themselves against teams almost guaranteed to be of equal ability. Of the top 8 teams contacted directly via this forums messaging system, only Tora Tora Tora have responded and registered along with Aseveljet, whilst this is great, we have at least one match, it's a bit of a tough sell with regards to sponsorship negotiations. That said, we do have one sponsor who is on board with another very large sponsor still to settle negotiations. In all very promising, but we do need more participants really. Registration doesn't close until 22nd July so still early days. Thanks to all for the feedback so far, some of which appears to have been adopted by SupremacyLeague on NA which is encouraging. Keep it coming!

50 custom commemorative medals that will be issued to the runners up is the current plan. The Top prizes we're still working on, maybe WG EU will mirror WG NA's contribution? We'll have to see.

Quick update, we're still in the process of negotiating terms, however we appear to have a sponsor willing to supply participation coins/medals!

OP has been edited for clarity in recognition of the wording that caused confusion. Apologies, we hope it is also understood that based on feedback from the teams and community, many things are likely to change and evolve as the project progresses. Thanks for the input so far.

You don't appear to understand that sponsorship involves advertising the sponsor, primarily during the event itself. The exchange is usually monetary which will be used to create a prize to be awarded to the winning team. It seems this upsets you or is unacceptable in some way. Sorry but your attitude appears childish and belligerent. If you have genuine questions/concerns that haven't already been addressed, please phrase them politely in a less 'conspiratorial' manner.

Again, you appear not to have understood what's been said. We are not asking for help putting ads on a website. A non partnered channel on twitch receives no revenue share from advert views. If you do not wish to participate, nor wish to ask a genuine question/add a useful contribution, please desist in posting to this thread.

An interesting thought. Not sure the current number of ship lines in the games can really support such limitations. With German Battleships on the horizon, hopefully such case like two Bow on NC's will decrease.

You've misunderstood completely. The hope is to gain sponsorship for the tournament thereby generating a prize pool. Who teams choose to be affiliated with is their own business and no stipulations or restrictions will be made upon them by us in that regard. You also appear to not understand how revenue is generated on twitch, twitch.tv/wowseleagues being a non-partnered channel. The website wowseleagues.com is also currently devoid of advertising.
