Mid tier RN CAs are unplayable - help!

None get heals until T9. French get a speed boost (at later tiers improved) and main batter reload booster from T6 on, mostly long range spammers. Russians have radar at high tiers, but are very squishy until the Moskva (or the upcoming split line) and almost exclusively sling HE at long range until about T8-9. Japanese have good stealth and rather accurate guns. Also mainly HE-slingers from mid- to long range for most of the game.

    Unfairly judging other players

On a similar note I always assume everyone is mostly useless until proven otherwise.

    Donskoi citadelling KM BBs?

It's prolly that turret weakness Pete mentioned. I think the angle looks okay for it at least on the FDG, but even if not it wouldn't be the first time the game handed out a weird cit out of nowhere. fyi: this is the spot we're talking about

    Fighter from nowhere?

Please give some replays of those cases (with the rough times when it happened) or at least some screenshots including one with the the team-lists for each occurrence. Because currently this very much sounds like a lack of situational awareness on your part until you give some evidence we can then use to find an explanation.

    Pick for tier 7 ranked

Belfast gets the same radar as the Atlanta and Indianapolis has a short duration 10km radar.

    DD shooting without being detected?

It is. Iirc the relevant spotting point is the highest armored point on the ship.

  12. Yes, yeeees. Ignore that suspicious smokescreen off your flank, disgorging metal fishies and metal birds at anything that moves. (Also topkek tip of the day: Smoke up a secondary Mass getting spammed down for extra shell-vomit ^^)

    RN Cruisers...just...how?

Neptune and Minotaur are a massive step up in squishyness from the Edinburgh (You can verify that yourself in port by checking the armor and disabling anything but the citadel space), even more so than in fire-power. And people are aware of that. So not only can't you get away with as much as in the Edin but as you noted ppl are more eager to shoot you as well. That and the worse concealment means you'll have to play safer than on the Edin to preserve your HP so you can make more bold moves at the end. So ideally you should utilize cover as much as possible. And where no cover is available your smokes. You can play radar mino because your radar out-ranges your concealment by >1km, but it's rather risky and requires even more island-abuse and is only recommend if you know exactly what you're doing. Whether you like playing around your squishyness and frustrating ppl trying to murder you more with every passing minute is up to your taste. I for example find the Nep to be very fun and a strong ship, but then again i am weird.

    GKD to gulag? (Kots)

I merely did what you ask for and explained in detail why your attempt does not really solve the problem. At no point did I attack you for making the attempt. Not really. You have to program the function that extrapolates the trajectory from position and speed (and possibly shell-type) anyways to get the point of impact (unless the full trajectory is sent to the client which i doubt) and the matching is literally letting that prediction algorithm run at most a few hundred ms to s (depending on the rate at which the server calculates and sends the data) once for each shell-type and see which one has the least deviation from the actual trajectory, which is fairly trivial. You an probably even find a corresponding module or function, or at least one that's fairly simple to adapt in some repository anyways since it's a not too uncommon physics problem.

    General CV related discussions.

Let's hope that gets addressed in testing and they don't turn out a distant 4th behind the RN CVs.

    GKD to gulag? (Kots)

Sadly it wouldn't work that way. All you need is the regularly updated positional data over a period of time. That make it possible to reconstruct the velocity profile (naturally with some inaccuracies, but it should be sufficient for this purpose). You don't even need any additional shell-data to be transmitted. Since all shell-parameters are available somewhere(TM) online* all you need to do is compare the attained velocity profile against what would be expected from any alive or recently sunk ship on either team to assign a shell to the respective trajectory and integrate the differential equation numerically to get the rest of the path it traces. If the ship that shot was spotted you don't even need to spend those computational resources. *And even if not you can reconstruct them if you have a program that captures the shell trajectory any illegal modder could just take any new or changed ship, shoot a bunch at different distances to get some statistics and determine the relevant parameters by fitting the trajectories.

Good DD players - Asashio - yes or no?

    1) You're misrepresenting the facts (oh sorry i meant ofc FACTS!, i always misspell that word) here as well. Your winrate in the Asashio is in fact about 47%. Granted this is not representative, as you have ~9x more battles in the Asashio B where you actually have a 54% WR. But even if you combine the two you're at 53.2% (not 54%) from a combined 1639 battles as of time of writing this, which is about 1.2% above the average for the ship. 2) If you're such a master, then why do you do less damage in a ship specialized in farming big damage off high-health targets than some plebs do in T5 or 6 DDs ? (And if you use your guns as often as you claim to finish off low HP ships why is it that you have so few average frags ?) In fact it is as you said elsewhere. You are an average player, performing a few percent above average in the Asashio. That's all. Now back to something more productive: The fact is the Asashio is a good, but highly specialized Ship. Most of the utility she brings is about equivalent to a Kagero, but it can utterly demolish any BB-push if played right. That being said, if a CV is out for her she's dead. Very, very dead or almost entirely useless unless she can find a DM or Mino to smoke near her position. Just like (almost) any DD. "Sneaking up" on any CV that has even a semblance of competence is suicidal.
  19. The first Visby was behind the island for most of the time he was spotted, so your secondaries didn't have arcs on him. (this is rather common exp on shorter ranges with the high-velocity KM shells) Presumably he died in the few seconds delay between your secondaries being trained on target (when they have a solution) and them actually opening up, i could measure it if you really want to. For the second Visby I'm not sure if you had him as your target at all or if the secondaries can fire directly backwards since they are all side-mounted and he was in a very narrow arc towards your stern. It could be either of those. edit: We can't see you manually selecting targets in the replay. It's one of the shortcomings of the system. edit 2: my commiserations about the horrendous fire-RNG you got that match
  20. Yes. Just make sure the download-link (i.e. the file-name) is displayed in your message.
  21. Could you post the relevant replay here ? This would help a lot in figuring out what might be going on.

    How to deal with carriers?

None really. You only start so see some actual AA at T5. Something you will have to live with is that any competent CV that wants to strike you will almost always be able to do so (at a given cost). The only thing you can do is be as uninviting a target as possible by potentially being with friendlies and mitigating any incoming damage. So regarding that when DBs are dropping you try to be in a full-speed full turn if at all feasible. That means for a BB with their slow rudder shift if enemy DBs are approaching you from the front or rear you'll have to start turning when enemy planes are still out of your AA range. If they are coming from the side they will have to re-position anyway or make a shitty drop, just pay attention how they move (and if and which turns you can make without getting killed by enemy surface ships) For TBs something similar holds. Given your rudder shift and acceleration you should already be at speed and initiate your turn when enemy TBs are still outside your AA and anywhere close to your broadside as well since TBs can start their drop at ~6km to lower dmg taken by AA DPS. If they enter your AA from the front pay attention which side they are turning towards and make your turn on time if you think they will start turning it to drop you (if they drop immediately against your bow/stern you're mostly fine anyways if you're sailing in a straight line.

    BAYARD use IFHE?

I'd say yes, given that it's a premium and you will probably play it a lot. As a bonus you can use that captain for any french ship up to t6 you might choose to keep or on the Colbert if you're willing to spec him slightly sub-optimally.
  24. No idea how i managed to turn this clusterf*ck with this much loving attention from both carriers... At least i got to slaughter one of them.
