Dunno wether the 457-Conq comparison is that valid though. US-dispersion with accuracy mod, 2.0 sigma and 30mm overmatch could be pretty spicy. If it gets super-heavy shells the shot-pattern might bear more resemblance to an NCal, which is lovely. The low number of guns is... well.. At least Republique gets the benefit of a better reload with the same overmatch.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
rnat replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I'd say no more than 1 high dpm one or 2 low dpm ones, assuming they hit relatively consistently. Just did a bit of a test and a Hinden can spam down a full health Bot-Conq in under 2 minutes without AP. (opening fire-> death: 1:30-1:55, conditions: no AP, no dmg-con, fire reduction, range 12-15km, always aiming midships -> saturation) (there's better data to be had if someone literally wants to sit there and be shot at for half an hour (or tape down LMB) for further testing. SCIENCE! ) which means if the BB under Fire can't disengage in that time it is as dead as it would be without the change. I'd say it'd be a strong survivability buff against other BBs if it's well played or during unexpected dmg-spikes. -
Bug? CV can summon fighters even after ship death!
rnat replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
After death, the CV retains control of the current squad for ~3min (or till they are used up), which includes the use of any of the squads consumables e.g. Fighters. What should not happen is the ship itself using it's inbuilt fighter consumable. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
rnat replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Just met @Leo_Apollo11 in his GK. Wish the game had lasted a bit longer. -
Honestly that was just a trip to Wikipedia (for the cargo capacity) and some relatively basic physics/chemistry. I'm not in any way an expert on nuclear or conventional weapons, explosions or shockwaves ect. The only things here i could actually elaborate on would be the respective energy/enthalpy balances or nuclear processes.
-
Well, they are under NDA. And unless you know the wording of the agreement it's probably the safest to assume that it's a pretty all-encompassing deal. That or he got annoyed/unsure what he's allowed to tell and just didn't answer the last ones for that reason. Well, since you already know, would you mind sharing with us plebs ? ^^

Liberty ships could carry ~10kt, so that's about the correct order of magnitude. Though i should add that it imo looks like a bigger explosion than a (energetically) comparable nuclear blast, since the overpressure is created mostly by heating the surrounding air in the latter case, whereas the explosives create a lot of gas during combustion as well.

Where do I report bugs and spelling/grammar errors?
rnat replied to Barney_Wobba's topic in Newcomers' Section
For anyone that legit does not know: https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/112242-bug-reports/ -
2.0 or 3.0km, depending on weather the ship spotting you is running target aquisition mod. 1 It's dependend on caliber, concealment and possibly stock range as well. But in my book fundamentally it's another parameter WG uses to balance ships. (e.g. Minotaur and Edinburgh are significantly stealthier when smoke-shooting than the Neptune, all on similar 152mm guns)

If that's the case i almost never used "true" cross-drops in RTS CVs either. My fakes were pretty convincing to most of the DDs i crippled/nuked though ^^ I (and most CVs i've observed) gave it a few seconds to see what the DD (or sometimes RN CL) did make some last minute drop adjustments if needed. (That and it's easier to line up the drops in succession if you're not an APM-god but a bit of a crapshot like me) The essence is exactly the same, the only significant difference is the time-delay involved and the amount of torps in the water at the same time. But feel free to change the definition as it suits you. Only true Scotsmen do that. That's the whole point with crossdrops. With RTS CVs and the new thingie. If the enemy is not actively trying to not get killed what's the point in crossdroping him/her ?

Is it possible to mount "The First League" and "The Second League" flags together?!
rnat replied to Atorpad's question in Q&A Section
I don't know weather it has been changed by one of the hotfixes or if getting to Rk 5 removed both (honestly i just mounted the 10% one and didn't care afterwards) but ppl that got a fairly high rank last season got issued both Flags at the start (at least i did). This might have been an issue of assigning them correctly at the start since (i think) this is the first time the starts from the last season can push one over rk 10. -
Drop from the front or (better) the back or at an angle form from a bit of a distance to lock the target into a course to avoid your torps and in the time he's locked bring your planes around and strike from the side. For your examples c.f. 5:30 (kind of) and 12:30. Granted it was (still is ?) too easy in the test-RN CVs.

No Adrenaline Rush ? That skill is worth it's weight in gold.

I still remember them saying they'll never outright sell premiums above T8 when the Mo' came out. Not sure if they'll do it with Alaska though, a free-exp ship is already kinda purchasable via gold, so wg could have the 2fer of having ppl pay to convert elite exp and not getting flak for offering it for cash.

It's something you'll get used to. Try to treat it like a rear view mirror. Short glances several times a minute.

I'd say CE v. IFHE depends on your play style. As you probably noticed the Omaha likes to explode if anyone looks at it funny, so survival should from my perspective be the priority here. So i'd recommend CE if you like to play a bit more aggressive or in open water because it's invaluable in getting in and out when you need to. If you're more adept at using cover and tend to shoot from stealth for most of the time take IFHE first. Same goes if you just shoot from open water/2nd row all the time and don't care about sneaking up or disengaging, giving CE no chance to shine. Not really tanky, but then again the whole ship tends to explode at the same time as the engine, so it's not much of a concern. Only problem could be rudder if you're caught out but in those cases usually she can either go stealth or just melts with or without rudder. Then again due to the lack of additional universally useful skills for her i'd still consider LS a valid option for the last 5 points. [edited: clarification] *bias warning, i last played her just before the release of the USN CLs, so my recommendations based on the old meta might be a bit/way off.
-
People likely won't slap IFHE on their 203 mm cruisers just for that. That point was regarding KM HE since you only listed 50mm plating. Also unless the meta radically changes I'd declare ppl bonkers if they did start slapping IFHE on 8'' cruisers.
-
You're missing 35mm, (soon on some russian BBs i believe) 40mm (dito but i think 1-2 ships on live have it as well ?) and 38mm (mainly USN BBs) plating. Technically it makes sense to differentiate between HE dpm and effective HE-dpm. While, as Seiranko stated between the T8s, pen only makes a difference in comparison to Hipper/Eugen (or 203mm with IFHE if anyone is mad enough to run that) there is a difference in the hit probabilities if your opponent maneuvers at (the respective ships) longer ranges due to the individual ships ballistics and different cruisers having to account for dispersion more or less due to their respective typical engagement ranges. But: For this to really matter we'd have to go into a full ship- and role-analysis and All USN CLs have basically the same arcs and ranges, so the effective dpm should in very good approximation be proportional to the theoretical dpm for the entire line. So it makes all the sense in the world to compare the theoretical values in this case (see also Seirankos post).

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
rnat replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
What might have happened (and this is just my suspicion) is that the rewards scale differently now to account for 2-3x CV games and unlimited hangars. i.e. Killing a sh*tton of planes is no longer as valuable compared to getting a middle-of-the-pack amount as before. Previously it was just a linear function in plane kills if i remember correctly. -

Pretty sure they are rewarded (not to imply they are rewarded well). At least that's the only way i can make sense of some of the exp i've gotten in several matches (e.g. top of the winning team in ~40k dmg Montana game (granted ~60% of it DD dmg) where i didn't do much besides tanking/fleeing and farming planes) -
CBs favour a mid-ultra long range engagement, so accurate BBs with a heavy broadside are favoured there. Neither GK nor Conq nor, presumably Kreml would do well in that environment. It's still a decent BB overall, but the GK only really comes to it's own when it gets to use it's incredible tankyness and good reload, not so much in a campy meta.

I assume you've never played on weekends then ? ^^

That was announced before 8.0 hit: The premium CVs will be available again after 8.2.
-
ALL US CLs are dpm-machines and the dpm goes up each time you go up a tier.

1) bit of a necro 2) that's true for ALL light cruisers from at least t6.
