If you like using cover the USN CL and CA are very nice alternatives once you got past the phenomenally squshiy Omaha. Especially the CA get improved penetration angles and solid AP until the Baltimore from which point you have the awesome super-heavy USN AP. If on the other hand you prefer less subtlety and just want to race around the map in the back and endlessly pour HE onto the enemy the MN CL/CA or Soviet CL could be for you. For BBs the high tier USN are solid but the abysmal speed of the standard-type battleships can be really annoying (still only 21kts at T7, though the New Mex at T6 is very nice if you can get her on mid-range and closer) And if you just want to face-roll and show the enemy what for the Soviet and KM BBs are fantastically tanky when played right and can push or hold down a flank unless under large amounts of shelling or torpedo-threat. Or just go by HansSWEs recommendation and just try everything and see what you like. Just note that there are some phenominally squishy ships at mid-tiers that might put you off (Königsberg/Nürnberg aren't representative of their high-tier counterparts regarding survivability), Omaha is very squishy, the Pensacola a bit less so but gets massive firepower for her tier to compensate, again USN CL/CA tend to be more survivable than those The exception is the Emerald, which eclipses the Omahas tendency to blow up but is more representative since RN CL are pretty squishy as a line.

From Sub_Octavians last QnA (which is to my knowledge currently the most recent statement we have on this):
-
You don't loose anything for leaving a battle after you're sunk. You might get reported (i.e. loose Karma) if you either misbehave in chat or play poorly or someone reports you for some random reason. The only official penalty the game gives you is if you leave before either you get sunk or the game ends because that is a massive Richard-relocation against your team and the game shouldn't have to tell you that it's an unsporting move in the first place because that is fairly obvious. Because it encourages variety, makes the "yolo to T10-strategy" slightly less convenient and annoys ppl who leave the battle before their own death, see above for the why. You are literally asking to make this game pay to win. (besides the arguably OP premiums we already have, but those at least get removed from sale) I shouldn't have to tell you why this would be a massively bad idea. edit: why did you open this post several times and especially why did you open it in a sub-forum where it clearly doesn't belong. This should be in the suggestions-thread in the "General Discussion" section.

You are aware that I was doing in-tier comparisons there ? Otherwise maybe re-read my answer. To repeat and elaborate: At T6 you have on one side large caliber BBs with 8 guns like the Queen Elizabeths, which are farly accurate and the Bayern witch makes up for lack of accuracy with its massive tankyness. On the other hand the Fuso, Normandie and New Mexico bring 12 barrels to the table, that is 50% more than their competition and to make up for the big increase in broadside firepower all of them are fairly notorious shotguns to keep them balanced.

Speaking of game mechanics: HE-shells will only do overpen damage if you hit a saturated section. Otherwise it's penetration damage or a shatter, the latter of which we can safely exclude in this scenario. As to hitting, at close ranges a Yamato is frightfully accurate and if the DD is charging you the only module you are likely to hit is it's front turret. If you want to go into more details i'd like to add in the damage radius of BB-caliber HE shells which is likely to knock out not only the DDs engine but also at least 1 of it's torpedo tubes on most hits, with a direct hit to the weaponsystem all but certain to knock it out for good given the additional splash-damage from nearby hits or near-misses.

Also in the mod, all of them with the same "SOON"-label: Siegfried, Leone, Paolo Emilio (all currently stuck in dev-limbo), Brennus, L'Effronte, Giunio Bruno (old test versions for changes to HIV, Le Terrible and moving GC to T6) So this clearly doesn't mean that it's gonna get introduced soon, or even that it's gonna return to testing in the next weeks and could as well be an artifact of the mod with some outdated files that didn't get updated because it's not gonna get noticed by most players.

Maybe time to introduce Heroic (and Honorable?) medals which caters to Destroyers (and maybe CV?)

@MrConway @Crysantos @Sub_Octavianare you aware of any news on that front you could reveal, e.g. are there any changes in a planning stage or is it on a to-do list for the next 1-2 quarters ? I'm aware that there's not gonna be any details, just curious if this is currently on the devs radar. (also sorry for the multi-ping) -
Do XP camo or flags effect Base XP?
rnat replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
You get the most base exp when your team is very potato. Trick is for the enemy team to be almost as useless so they slaughter the greens at about the same pace you slaughter them. ^^ -
Then prove it. Make a screenshot of your current stats (battles fought and won) Make a spreadsheet and record every battle (win or loss, ideally with screenshot), then after say a hundred battle or however many you want compare the changes WG records to your own notes, no way to fake that.
-
You can check that at the bottom of the tech-tree. In any case you should research the Pensacola before resetting, otherwise you will have to re-grind the Omaha again before you can make any progress towards the USN CAs. (Any ship in direct line from the T1 to the T10 you're resetting will no longer be researched and loose all progress) Not sure what you mean, but if i understand your question correctly: if you reset the USN CL and have researched any USN BB nothing will change for those (i.e. you will keep all USN BBs you have and any exp/modules/ect. on them), it's just that the preceding ships will no longer be researched.

A full Yamato HE-salvo does 21900 damage. That is nearly enough to nuke any T10 DD. Just the front turrets are enough to comfortably 2-shot any loli-bote. If a destroyer manages to get close enough -while staying on full health to boot- to torpedo you before you can reload once that's just the "gotcha" moment you're talking about and either the DD played well or you as the BB messed up badly. Also let me ask you, how likely is it that you can 1-shot a rushing Hindenburg ? Or Stalingrad for that matter ? Both ships that will comfortably nuke you if you let them get your flank at those ranges. To me this sounds like BB-entitlement because likely trading a majority of your health even on a relatively successful rush clearly isn't punishment enough for the DD.
-
Oh no, an event with a chance of somewhere between 10 and 25% has occurred. There is no way that could have happened naturally!
-
Don't expect to 1-shot DDs then ? No other ship can do 1-shot DDs with guns, except maybe the Venezia if it gets lucky or is very close. And if that's not an option for you consider not getting into situations where you are dependent on 1-shotting destroyers in a battleship. [edited for clarity]

Bismarck and Tirpitz - Barely tier VIII in 0.9.2.0
rnat replied to pissBoiler's topic in Battleships
You can check your statistics on the website or ingame. By default all aggregate stats are public. I should listen to myself more....

I only picked ships that have some definite advantages over their T10 counterparts. If we just talk about "strong" T9s clearly the Iowa, Donskoi, ect need to be in that list as well.
-
And that is why you shouldn't post stuff when you're as demented as me. *thinks of Kitakaze, Fletcher* *starts making list* *forgets to add in Kitakaze*
-
My point is mainly that you're forgoing a lot of their strengths by mostly focusing on long-range gameplay if i read you right.

So your proposal is to make the HP-bar almost entirely useless and make everything a massive guessing-game just because some people joinked a frag from you ? I am not saying there is no world in which your idea makes sense, but this would be a vastly different game with an HP indicator that imprecise. Just as a start one would need much more attention to play well and given the skill level of the current player base I very much doubt that that change is in any way viable. You won't get every kill you "earned". Live with it, maybe go "aaaw b*llocks" for a second but that's as much emotional investment as those instances deserve.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
rnat replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Somehow winning this match: Mad props to our Mass B who after helping win A did the right thing and did it early enough by completely disengaging (no, that's not sarcasm (for once), since the alternative was dying in a vain attempt to defend A against 4 ships rushing west, each of which had more HP that she had left) -
Points at Fletcher, Mogador, Jutland, Donskoi, Kitakaze, Yugumo.... further points at Iowa, Drake, Izumo,....
-
In that case why not play Soviet DDs in the first place ?

That looks like the most likely scenario given Chrysanthos' comment. (It's the Alexander Nevsky btw) In any case, I obviously misread/misinterpreted your post, sorry about that. I'd mostly agree with Reckless, though i'd say IFHE is still mandatory. Not being able to directly damage the majority of BB-plating hurts. Similarly rudder mod 3 gives up a decent amount of team-utility (radar and AP-ambushes) to get better at just kiting.
-
The split will happen at T8 though iirc. (Unless you mean Moskva and A. Nevsky, in that case please accept my apologies)
