What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
BruceRKF replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Managed to log in. Means I'm already better than my friends! On a more serious note: Great game earlier today , mostly thanks to Aotearas, who made some clutch plays! -
Thanks, didn't remember that despite using the site occasionally. However, this gets screwed when looking up base xp, since it stupidly takes into accout premium time (which I had occasionally, but never for long periods of time), as far as I can work out. Also solo warrior or high xp losses not included. And the screenshots are like photos from the past. Sometimes you remember a story with them (i.e. the game you played then). Also, it starts just two weaks too late to record my 100k and 2k base games, sadly (10th and 14th of June respectively).

I don't play CVs because I don't like the gameplay and I will defintely not play subs either. Depending on how annoying they are and whether I deem their influence on balance too destructive, I might see the introduction of subs to randoms as my personal sign to step away from the game. Hopefully, subs in randoms are still quite a long time off.

Copy-Paste from the Dev-Blog with changes to test ships, just in case: British battleship Thunderer, tier X: Main battery guns reload time lowered from 30 to 26 s; Sigma lowered from 2.0 to 1.9; Lowered the size of the dispersion ellipse. Thunderer has a relatively weak armor scheme and not the best Repair party, her main strength is her guns. But testing showed that they were not efficient enough. American battleship Ohio, tier X: Main battery guns reload time increased from 26 to 30 s; Sigma increased from 1.9 to 2.0; Increased the size of the dispersion ellipse; Amount of hit points restored per second by Repair party is lowered from 0.66% to 0.5% of maximum hit points. Thanks to effective secondaries and good guns, Ohio was too effective at all distances. The guns parameters were changed to keep the ship strong in close and medium range, but lowering the overall efficiency. Moreover, Repair party had too big of an impact on the overall survivability of the ship. Italian researchable cruisers Removed the damage limit of semi-armor-piercing for shells of caliber of 283 mm and lower against destroyers; Improved ricochet angles of semi-armor-piercing shells from 60-85 to 80-85; Changed the basic firing range of main caliber guns: Taranto, tier III: increased from 9.6 to 10.34 km; Alberto di Guissano, tier IV: lowered from 14.14 to 13.51 km; Trento, tier VI: lowered from 15.37 to 14.65 km; Zara, tier VII: increased from 14.32 to 14.65 km; Amalfi, tier VIII: increased from 13.95 to 14.68 km; Brindisi, tier IX: increased from 15.21 to 15.57 km. Venezia, tier X: improved firing angles for the second turret by 19 degrees to both sides. Semi-armor-piercing shells are an intermediate between AP and HE shells: AP deals good damage when hitting citadel, HE does stable but relatively low damage and can causes fires. SAP shells should deal good stable non-citadel damage, but due to the ricochet angles they were not effective. Also, due to the limit on damage against destroyers, this cruisers were weak against this class, so the limit was removed. The changes to the firing range will build the progress logically from tier to tier. Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary.

Thunderer: Good changes, makes the ship different from the others. Squishy, but good maneuverability and reliable guns - if she plays somewhat like a t10 Warspite, I'm sold. Ohio: A nerf was necessary from what I've seen. They might have gone a bit too far though. We'll see. Italian cruisers: Somewhat consistent range progression is defintely a good change. Also, that SAP damage limit to DDs was ridiculous. Now we might have the opposite problem though. So, either apply a new damage limit (e.g. 20%) or lower SAP alpha to slightly below AP. This might also make the switch to AP on occasion more viable not only for citadels, but also on non-citadel broadsides. Previously, there seemed to be no reason to ever change to AP apart from short range broadside cruisers because of the higher damage of SAP.

Two paper ships, one of them tier 10, the other from the vast reserve of the Glorious Soviet Navy. Yeah... no. Good night.

Tenessee class at tier 7 was what I expected and also liked to see, so good on that. However, another paper/fictional high tier ship??? So many historical sips possile as premiums from tier 2 to 8, but almost all we get are 9 and 10 recently. Seriously, WG???

Luckily, I already ranked out yesterday (which means rank 10 for me). What I noticed: Almost no cruisers, and if there were, most of them were Alaskas or Kronshtadts. Never had more than two cruisers in the 10 games I played. One game with four DDs and one CA and BB each, one game with two ships per class (incidentally also the most fun game), the remaining eight games were at least three BBs per side. Not much fun with only six boats in it, imo.

I'm using Expert Marksman on her. I can't stand turrets outturning the ship and with the speed they have, it might even be relevant for higher tiers. My 15 point captain so far is running Priority Target, Last Stand, Survivability Expert, Concealment Expert, Expert Marksman, Adrenalin Rush (in that order). Probably gonna go for Basic Firing Training next.

The best secondary-build ship in the game?
BruceRKF replied to Munchboii's topic in General Discussion
I love my secondary BBs, even though they are far from optimal. In most cases, survivabilty build and main gun accuracy will serve you better. Secondaries can be a lot of fun though. I have the German and French BBs specced for secondaries, the US, Japanese, UK and USSR ones for tank/stealth builds. Only exception and my guilty pleasure: secondary spec Yamato. Always catches DDs that want to rush you by surprise... Since someone mentioned Kiev: how about A-Hull Umikaze... -
This was the beginning of the end of what became a horrible day. Called it quits after 10 games, since the game was clearly sending me a signal: "Do not play more today".

How is your Azur Lane Collection going? Got some bad luck as well?
BruceRKF replied to BruceRKF's topic in General Discussion
I finished my own two weeks ago. Could have done it faster by not switiching every other day or so between it and the Russian collection. Boy oh boy, did I get a lot of duplicates for both of them though. Still not finished with the Russian one. Will be done today if I get lucky and get a non-duplicate for once. If not, four more duplicates it is... -
How is your Azur Lane Collection going? Got some bad luck as well?
BruceRKF posted a topic in General Discussion
Hey there fellow skippers! I was just wondering whether anyone has had more bad luck than me in trying to complete the collection. I get chibis in about 40% of containers. Since I didn't count and don't know the drop rate, I have no complaints there. However, I now have 22 items of the collection and the same number of duplicates. It was going fine until I got the 22nd with 11 duplicates at that point in time. Quick maths tell me that means 11 duplicates in a row... I am mainly just venting my frustration here, but mabye there are people out there who share my misery and need some therapy as well Let's not give up yet! -

Overlapping auras, finally! It being intuitive that auras would overlap and all that, that wasn't so hard, was it? Now just reworking all the damage numbers on AA again for every ship which means we will get balance very soon(tm). -
She is definitely one of the most gorgeous ships in the game, but gameplay-wise she is one of the harder ships to play. That dispersion is just driving me mad at times. I was grinding the Vladivostok recently and found she can do pretty much anything the Roma does, but is better at it. Still, there is no better port decoration out there.

You have five BBs almost every game and DDs are already soft-capped at four. Now that we have more DDs in the queue for once (which won't last long, I reckon) people are whining about it. DDs have more responsibility and more influence on the game outcome, but that is no reason for limiting them, imo. Why should five BBs be okay, but four DDs are too many? Seriously, grow up!
-
I'm using it on Fushun, Aoba and 155 mm Mogami. I'd definitely at least consider it for some other ships if not for the increased reload. Alternatively a greater buff to the turret traverse might convince me to use it more often as well, since I can't stand slow turrets (using EM on my Japanese DDs for example).

Appreciate the name changes very much. Now hoping for decently balanced ships...

What ship will you sail in the upcoming T9 Rank?
BruceRKF replied to Yedwy's topic in General Discussion
I will play all t9s I got one after the other until I'm rank 10. I like variety and hate playing the same ship mutiple times in a row. I don't do that even when grinding. Here's hoping I won't have to repeat too many ships ;) -
What do you guys think of the Exeter?
BruceRKF replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
Strong ship, but I would still have prefered her at tier 6. Haven't played her often because she is a bit boring. Can't really put my finger on why, but my go-to tier 5 cruisers are defintely Furutaka and Kirov. -

They should rethink the names of the high tier cruisers. Yes, other heavy cruisers are named after cities, but those were cities redeemed after World War I and not some random well known Italian cities. -
ST, Italian cruisers and Italian Destroyer Paolo Emilio, tier X
BruceRKF replied to anonym_hGVXy1D22hW1's topic in Development Blog
Will the Italian cruisers get the new shell type and AP or only the new shell type? Why does Zara have torpedoes (didn't have them)? Since she is at tier 7 instead of tier 8 she should be strong enough without. What is the reason for making the line so gimmicky? A more "simple" line for a change would be awfully nice. -
I am getting confused now. Earlier someone said they'd only have SAP and you are saying SAP instead of HE + AP (which I'd prefer). Do you have a link to some official statement about it? I'd really love to know.
-
Yes, but with those new shells, will you even be able got proper citadels? Haven't gone through how they actually work.
-
Indeed. I find it very curious that Bolzano is not a tier VII premium. Maybe at some point.
