Duplicate drop rate for Italian collection?
BruceRKF replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
First six containers, no duplicates. Which was highly suprising because in the Azur Lane collection I was up to 40 duplicates before I could finish it. I guess it either cancels out or I'll just get massively unlucky soon. -
Just gonna revive this thread to vent some of my disappointment with my team earlier.

Poll: Drop chance of normal Italian cruiser container
BruceRKF replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
Got all directives done. Bought permacamo for Tento and Zara since I already know I'll keep them even if it's just for looks. Apart from that I used all my tokens on containers. Had more than 20 and not a single italian cruiser mission. Really lucked out this time. -
Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
BruceRKF replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
Just lost a game really quickly within 7 minutes, nothing spectacular there, just your normal 40-ish % potatoes mostly. One ship in particular however got my notice. Looked up the player and... Seriously, why is there no minimum battles played requirement, as well as no playing premium ship until you have a tech tree ship of that same tier??? -
Most fun: Scharnhorst: moves around almost like a cruiser, but can also tank. If you get in close (without overextending), you can fight three enemies at once, especially when top tier. Duca d'Aosta: anaemic HE damage, but godly maneuverability and the torps still catch people off guard. Least fun: Conqueror: you don't really need to aim to get big damage with HE and you don't get rewarded when you use AP and actually aim properly. So boring.

Hi everyone. Just a question about game mechanics. Does anyone know how it is possible for a turret to become permanently disabled without being incapacitated previously? I had a game in the Scharnhorst yesterday and lost my B turret about 5 minutes into the game with only 6k damage taken until then. Colorado destroyed it from about 13 km. It was a pretty close game and we might have been able to win if I had that DPM. I know that there is a health pool for turrets and when it is depleted, the turret can get destroyed. It has happened to me before even in BBs, but this time it was just so blatant and annoying so early in the game. And so finally, after years, I thought I have to at least know why and how.

Apart from possibly being less armoured and/or having less health there might be another factor why French turrets get knocked out easier: They are a bit larger than other turrets, considering the four barrels instead of two or three and thus more likely to get hit.
-
Thanks again for your efforts. So, we can see rough trends to how it works, but there seems to be either a random element to it or some mechanic we don't know about (like possible regeneration, as you mentioned). Would love to get some insight from WG at some point.
-
So finally actual teamwork in WoWs I'll go with the simple solution however and just not bother with this mode, the same way I didn't play a single game in that whatever it was called three DD torp soup thing a while back.
-
First of all, thanks for the effort. Now it's getting really confusing though, with potentially healing turrets thrown into the mix as well. Might be time to summon some officials and whether they can shed some light on what is going on with turret HP and knocking them out...
-
Forgive me if I have to ask again, but I am still no quite sure which it is: the maximum potential damage (what would be a citadel hit, e.g. 12400 for Colorado) or "normal" penetration damage which accounts to 1/3 of the max potential damage (e.g. 4133)? Although by now I reckon it is citadel damage and works similar to hitting structures in operations where you just get the full damage when hitting and not overpenning. That however would make turret HP of 15-20k seem a bit low and any BB can permamently disable them with two shells.
-
Thanks. I guess the damage on turrets is penetration damage and not citadel damage? That would mean the Colorado was the luckiest ship afloat. With citadels, only two shells have to hit to take out 15000 hp, but if it's pen damage all four shells (she was angled and could only fire her front turrets) have to hit my turret. I want that RNG XD

Made the screenshot too late, should have done it when our three top tier BBs were still full health (the rest of he team obviously dead). They were fighting the Akizuki and one tier 7 BB until this point. All finished in the bottom half of the table, Izumo even coming last despite surviving. -
At very close ranges at a bow in target that has a considerable amount of health left it sometimes is better to go for the turrets instead of trying to get pens on bow or superstructure. It would take some time to deplete all that health, so why not make sure it can't shoot back first? It's different against low health targets, obviously, of which you just should get rid asap.
-
Yeah, having that information would help to know how sturdy your turrets are. You get the armour thickness, but without having the HP value that only tells us whether a turret can get disabled (by a shell penetration). You could for example know how likely it is for your turret to get knocked out completely if you have an estimation of how much HP is has (left) and take that into your calculations whether to push in close or rather stay at range.
-
So it's that simple? I mean, is one Colorado shell enough to take out a Scharnhorst's turret hp immediately or did she just get incredibly lucky and hit multiple shells at that one turret? Also, is there any way to see how many hitpoints a ship's turrets have? Could be useful information to have.

Italian cruisers are intentionally that bad?
BruceRKF replied to Fede15thPzDiv's topic in General Discussion
I am not sure what you are on about. SAP should have higher pen than HE and do more damage than AP. That is exactly how it is right now in the game. I cannot comment on how good or bad the Italian cruisers are, since I did not have any luck with my containers so far, but playing against them, I've had barely any problems. -
I am kinda hoping it's Siegfried. Free xp is the one ressource I have in abundance and Siegfried ist just beautiful, so I will get her even if she sucks.. as long as she is free xp and not coal or, god beware, steel.

Sunray super hard 5 stars - has anybody done this one succesfully?
BruceRKF replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
I think I got lucky. Got it on Sunday on my first try with a random team (2 guys from the same clan, otherwise completely random). 5 stars and everyone between about 1700 and 2300 base xp. Saving Tranylvania on the other hand... went well until Rasputin which sunk every one of us one after the other. I guess three BBs with ramming signals ramming her at the same time is the way to go. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
BruceRKF replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
When I saw the MM, I was already prepared for a poor game. Turns out it went exactly the opposite way. Edge of the seat stuff and narrowly escaped death a couple of times. Got rewarded for my efforts, fortunately. -
Kremlin and Vladivostok nerf, How do you like the changes
BruceRKF replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
The problem with the Kremlin is not the damage output of individual shells nor the penetration, but the guns' accuracy paired with great survivability, imo. The nerf probably won't change much. In fact, you might even get fewer overpenetrations now. Same issue with the Vladivostok, though not quite as severe. -
What did you get from 'Premium T6 Ship' container?
BruceRKF replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
Got the Gallant. Nicely balanced DD, imo, so quite happy with her. -
Thanks invicta2012 and Astolfo_Is_My_Waifu. It's good to hear that there might have been at least some plans for the high tier ships and they are not complete fabrications like the German tier 9 and 10, for example.

I kind of like the rugged look of the UK heavy cruisers and it seems they will come without too many gimmicks, which I like as well. I don't know much about UK heavy cruisers historically unfortunately, so I don't know how realistic they are. From a glance, I guess tiers 5, 6 and 7 are real ships and the rest paper? Since I am fond of history I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light as to the origins of the higher tier CAs (whether they are actual ships, planned/paper ships or WG fiction). Edit: Concerning the the off-topic discussion of Russian bias or not: I watched some King of the Seas battles and in every battle (watched five or six, so not that big a sample size), half or more of the ships were Soviet. Make of that what you will.
