Patch 0.5.10 and German BBs Incoming
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
So when the BBs are available MM in T8 to T10 will be a wasteland for days/weeks because everyone grind the new BBs? -
Credit income on tier VIII plus still too low with premium
ThePurpleSmurf replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
And this in itself is a major flaw in the whole XP/Credit system. If you play your role as ship as it is supposed to, you get a swift kick in the nuts for the effort and you can be assured that your team will hate you. Simple example DD: scout, stay hidden, smoke team mates and keep on scouting the enemy so the big ships have a target to shoot at, area control and pushing back the enemy fleet with torp volleys. All this stuff does nothing for the XP or Credits, but is a huge factor in winning a battle for the team and then you get some unlucky shell and die - huge income loss for being the deciding factor in a winning match. @Viceadmiral123 There are a lot of ship lines coming and these ships will cost credits to buy them all, so there is not really a need for a credit sink. The grind to get several high tier ships is hard enough, even without a sink and there is no end in sight yet. -
Credit income on tier VIII plus still too low with premium
ThePurpleSmurf replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
I think exactly this is the point. I'm kinda in the same boat, i pay for 3 people (my son, my wife, myself) premium time and my son as well as my wife have a couple of premium ships. I play only DDs and like the high tier ships but they are just too expensive, even with premium time. And no, i do not like to play 10 low tier matches to farm some credits so i can get screwed over in two t10 matches again. I simply feel, that the money i spend on premium time is not worth it, because i'm punished by RNG (detonations and crap) as well as crappy teams that throw away games and of course by own poor gameplay. If the megahypersuperultraunicums like it or not, but someone who pays for this game and keep the WG machine running, should never ever lose any credits at all. Lost the match and played bad, it's perfectly fine to go out of it with zero credits income. But when i lose 150k+ for winning and fulfilling my role in the game, then i feel premium time is worthless and i will not pump any more money into this game until this is sorted out. -
Matches should be decided by team skill and not by RNG. Happened on stream a few days ago, very early in the battle: streamer launches a torp volley at a Yamato, one torp made contact: full HP Yamato gone. Streamer launched 2nd torp volley at, i believe it was a Montana, one torp made contact: full HP Montana gone. This is a high repair bill for these BBs plus it pretty much instantly decided the match and this by pure RNG in a T10 match. Detonations are NO fun for anyone and this "there are flags"-comments don't help either, because in order to get them you have to detonate first. This mechanic has to be removed. There is already enough RNG in the game, but one that just nukes you and make your team lose without you can do anything about it is just stupid. EDIT The -70% detonation chance module is also no option, because the other modules in the same slot are way too important for any ship class as if someone can give this up.

If it only was a single opinion. Usually the next higher tier is a real upgrade. If you play the Mahan and get the Benson it goes "wow, is this ship great, i'm glad i grinded through". If you have the Benson and get to Fletcher it goes "wow, is this ship great, i'm glad i grinded through". But if you ask anyone or read comments about how the upgrade from Fletcher to Gearing is, it goes "mmmh, hmm, well .... i dunno, i like the Fletcher better but it's maybe just me". Perhaps the much worse maneuverability combined with the larger ship require a change in play style to adapt to the slower speed and sluggishness. Maybe it's more like sit back and harass from 10-12km and area control with the long range torps, rather than rush in and bully down what dares to get in front of your guns. I'll probably buy the Gearing anyway just to test it by myself and if it sucks i can still sell it and make a couple million credits loss, in addition to the retrained commander.
-
I was planning to buy the Gearing today, but after reading this thread and some others i'm depressed and don't know if i still want the Gearing.
-
Hola! I've never paid attention to this, but does the sell price of a ship goes up over time or with more cumulated XP? I consider to buy the Gearing, which is pretty expensive with almost 20 million credits and thought about to sell my Udaloi, because i have the Khaba and don't play the Udaloi anyway atm. I was kinda surprised that the sell price of my Udaloi is 14.3 million credits (with upgrades, 10.8 million without upgrades) and i'm very sure that it's more than the original buy price was. So what does determine the sell price? Amount of played games? Cumulated XP? Time of ownership?
-
That makes sense. I sold low tier ships before, that i quickly grinded through and was sure the sell price is 50% of the buy price. I was under the impression it's always 50% of the stock ship you once bought and didn't consider the hull/weapon modules as well. Since the Udaloi is fully upgraded the high sell price makes sense. Well, i guess it's bb Udaloi and hello Gearing. ^^ @22cm i have the other T9 DDs already and testing on PTS is way too much work (u know, downloading, installing, blabla)
-
You don't see the price of a ship that you own already. And no way you get almost the full buy price back when you sell a ship. So 10.8 million sell price for a 13.2 million sell price is.... hmm

The terrain is pretty much the last resort for some DD lines. Smoke is hard countered by excessive long Radar or Hydro, stealth fire only works sometimes, usually when there are no planes around. So the only thing that remains are islands as cover but when this is gone, gg US DDs. And BBs sit far in the back anyway, so i think lower terrain only benefits the camper even more, because there is no island in the way that blocks the 20km+ sniping so Cruiser have nowhere to hide. We'll see how it goes when the changes hit live.

Best high tier ships in each class to aim for.
ThePurpleSmurf replied to tajj7's topic in General Discussion
I'm really not sure about the Gearing. I have it researched but not bought yet, because i don't see it being a real upgrade over the Fletcher. In theory it does not look worse on paper if it comes to firepower but what concerns me is the much worse armor, especially of the gun turrets. This and the worse maneuverability which is a bit annoying. -
I flame so much and often insult the others, i'm surprised that i got only one chat ban so far and not be perma banned from chat. I'm perfectly fine with people playing not so good or being noobs as long as they try to win, but what i can not stand are cowards and people that let the team down by hiding behind islands or hug the map border to avoid any damage and do not contribute at all to the match. IMO there should be a punishing system for these coward players, because they are way worse than people who flame in chat. [EDIT] I wish there was a black list to put players on so i never again end up in the same team with them!

I hate CV games a lot. It's not the CVs i hate, but CVs are extremely powerful and can dominate a match completely. The problem is, if a DD or CA or BB is a kinda bad player it is usually not a big deal, because the team can compensate this. But there is only 1 CV per side and if one of them is skill-wise a lot weaker than the CV on the other side, it's almost always a guaranteed loss. There is no way to compensate or counter that superior CV so he can kill ships one by one or perma detect DDs, while the other CV is simply to bad to support the team properly. Very often a match is decided in the first 2 or 3 minutes, when one CV load into the game instantly and start to scout cap points and detect/harass DDs while the other CV loads into the game 2 minutes late, when the enemy team already controls the caps and the map. Unfortunately this is my experience with pretty much every CV game and i really hate it.

another Hatsuharu hate thread... is what comes next worth freexping it?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to ulcusrodens's topic in Destroyers
This and the most Tirpitz's on the team. I'm also at the Hatsu for a while now and stopped playing the Japanese DDs because it was and is a pita to grind through this just to realize that the high tier ships of this line suck just as much if not more. WG should make the Japanese DDs fun again, maybe reduce the torpedo damage by 50%, limit the amount of torpedoes per volley to maybe 6 but reduce the reload to 45 to 60 seconds. It's just damn boring to sail around, wait forever for the reload, launch all torps that are spotted from miles away and easy to dodge so you make often enough no damage at all. But then again, maybe the upcoming spotting XP and stuff like this will make this ship line more popular again. -
Hi fellow DD captains Pretty much all Guides and content contributors on YT and many on Twitch use and recommend Superintendent as 3rd row skill. I use this too on all of my ships (i play pretty much only DDs) but recently i was thinking that it's more or less a pretty useless skill if you use premium consumables which i do, even for US DDs. I find myself very often at the end of a battle with 1-2 remaining charges of smoke (defensive AA / engine boost) because i use less and less offensive smoke because of radar, hydro or Cruiser/BBs simply pushing my smoke and i get no backup from my team mates and have to leave the smoke anyway. As US DD but even more as Russian DD i use island cover to spam over and smoke is usually a last resort to get out of a dangerous situation. That's why i consider to change to Vigilance, because Torps are evil and detecting them sooner is usually better. ^^ How about you, what do you use on your Tier 8+ DDs? If you use Vigilance, is it worth it or is it just as useless as the other 3rd row skills?

Even if the system pays attention, the system sucks. Yesterday i played a match on Hotspot i believe. I came from A south with my Benson and an enemy DD was in B capping. He popped smoke and i launched torps at him from about 8.5km from south to straight north, not in the direction from west to east toward the C cap. We fought on and after about 90 seconds or more i got suddenly the message that i sunk an allied DD. I was like WTF, there was nobody even remotely close when i launched the torps. I checked the replay afterwards and it appears, that a Mahan that was in C all the time for maybe 6-7 minutes apperantly moved from C to B, which took him 90+ seconds and drove right into my torps. Now HOW can i foresee something like this, that a DD who was at the time or the torp launch in a totally different cap zone? And how bad must a player be to sail all the way from one cap to another into friendly torp without seing them AND ignoring the alert sound? In my opinion players like this Mahan should be tagged as moron and not me as teamkiller, because i can impossible foresee who will drive in my torps in 90 seconds and that some team mates must have the game sense of a mole.
-
Have you tried Acceleration Mod yet? It's great and i use it on all my US/RUS DDs - Benson however seem to have the slowest acceleration ever, even with mod It's great how fast you can accelerate out of smoke when torps come in (vigilance ftw ^^) and when you are at full speed you almost immediately stop when you tap S a few times, great to avoid torps too. Best of all is the fast back and forth behind islands to harass enemy ships. I love the Acceleration Mod.

I want the option to dismiss all the ARP Crap
ThePurpleSmurf replied to El_Pollo_Locooo's topic in Archive
The problem is, that some like this port and do not want to have these ships. The other problem is, that some of these ships are double from missions and you get these captains double. This means, that the double captains go to reserve and you have no choice, it blocks one reserve slot and if you need more you have to buy more slots because you can not delete these captains. This is clearly not intended and WG already confirmed that they are looking into it to find a solution. Was that so hard to comprehend? ;) -
Physics abuse and unfair gameplay
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Zed_Von_Toza's topic in General Discussion
Physics abuse right there -
Hey guys I've switched from SI to Vigilance on my DDs, thanks to WG and the possible reset and i regret not a tiny little bit. Detecting torp so much sooner is amazing and saved me and team mates a lot of time, while i don't miss the extra smoke at all. Actually i almost never use offensive smoke anymore because as soon as i pop smoke i see a radar pop up. This crap (radar) is really overpowered and deserve a serious nerf. It's okay to detect a ship even in smoke but for up to 30+ seconds is just garbage!
-
While i like the new smoke screen visuals really a lot, the border are on many maps in different situation very hard to see. An option to adjust the transparency and/or color would be nice, to make it easy to change the color on-the-fly depending on the situation. I thought about some lazy way to change the border color like maybe white, green, yellow, red as color picker in the option. To change the color simply click the square with the desired color and apply, done. This would probably also be welcome by those who have problems to recognize certain colors (color blindness).

I think many here have not so much experience with other game companies or they would know that WG does actually a very good job listening to their players and react very fast to problems and wishes. I'm a bit older than the (probably vast) majority of other gamers here and i have an almost 25 years history of gaming and have seen a lot. There are so many much much worse gaming companies in the industry that i'd rate the WG community management at least among the top 10% that actually do a good job. Of course there are a lot of things to improve (*cough* family premium account/ship discounts and such; less grind; reduced high tier repair *cough*) but from what i've seen so far the players should have very little reason to bash WG like some people did in other threads.

Changes to Update 0.5.9 after Public Test
ThePurpleSmurf replied to MrConway's topic in News Archive
Well, we will see it tomorrow or later today on streams from NA. Right now the NA servers are down and they get the update, I doubt that different regions will be handled different with the (possible) reset. -
rip everyone who has no broadband. according to reddit the 0.5.9 patch is a 11 GB download
