This is what i mentioned above. This only works if you go for last known position. If the target in smoke reposition, you need the same info (ship in smoke need to fire its guns) too to shoot the target in smoke. Sure you can take potshots into the smoke regardless, but for this you do not need the X. If you are unsure about the range, use the map to estimate it, draw virtual lines in your head from islands or cap buoys and so on. You'll be surprised how well this works with the 'natural' visual help the map offers without the X. Experienced players do this and hit targets in smoke quite reliably and this is when everyone calls for hacks, while they only use common sense and use map demographic characteristics to their advantage. This is a typical gray area feature of a mod. Some think it gives an unfair advantage, others think it's useless because the map already offers the same info, one just need to use the own brain instead to look for a X on the map.

It's the point at where you aim, so where you place your crosshair and it's part of the minimap mod that is included in Aslains Modpack, but iirc it's also included in the official WG Modpack. It's more or less a help to find the right distance to a ship. Usually it's not useful for normal play, as it's too time consuming to find where the X is on the minimap is, but it can be a help if you shoot at the last known position of ships, especially if they are in smoke. But then again, the spotting plane consumable let you pinpoint a ship in smoke too if it shoots and as soon as a ship moves even slightly, the X is useless while the spotter plane still works fine. IMO this X-helper is somewhere between harmless and useless in practical usage.

I find threads like this one remarkable. More than 2400 battles played and this is the very first forum post and then it's such an epic topic. But to not be rude and only offtopic here you go: At the top of website is a link that reads Support. Click on it and login, if you aren't already. Then on the top right click on My Tickets and after that there is a button to open a ticket. Fill out the forum and someone from the WG support team will contact you (via this ticket system and by email, if you have notifications enabled) usually within 1 to 3 days to let you know how you go from here. *Edited here the direct link. Good luck!

t-61 The T-61 is everything I hate about destroyers and I love her [PREVIEW]
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Hayashio's topic in Destroyers
You forgot one very important point to mention about the T-61. It is probably the best looking ship in the game right now. Like seriously, the ship and the camo simply look amazing and this alone is reason to buy the T-61. And yes, i'm one of those nerds who think that it is very important how a ship in wows or a character in any other mmo look like. -
What is the ship you are most "comfortable" with?

As i said, both sites have obviously a lot of different players they track. It's not the 22k battles by weaker player, it's simple both sites take a huge amount of different players into account of which the other site does not know about.

I expect that the Pan-Asian DDs will change the gameplay to the worse
ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Well, look at the last, let's say 20 buffs/nerfs to ships and which ship class it was that profits the most. Then scan the forums for threads that lead to certain buffs/nerfs. It is not an imagination by me but a proven fact, that the fast majority of changes aim to make BBs more comfortable and easier (more forgiven) to play. -

ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
I frickin hate BBs and wish no more than that they nerf them to the ground. So no, i do not suggest that they buff BBs, but if these torps appear to be too strong, all the BBabies will start to cry until they get what they always want, more buffs, be it direct buffs or indirect buffs by nerfing other classes. -
As i understand how these sites work is like this. These sites take snapshots of a players played games and calculate the stats. This info is provided by WG, so they are accurate, kinda. The ship stats are calculated by the overall stats of by the tracked players. And here comes how this massive difference can happen. In order that these sites track stats for a player, the player (or someone else) has to search his stats on this site. With the first player search by name, the tracker is triggered and he will be added to the database. Now it is possible that a player only search his stats on one site but not the other site, so his games will be tracked for one but not the site and therefore can not be added to the total ship stats. The amount of players who search for their stats may vary greatly and so can the players themself be different. For example, 5 unicums search their stats on warships.today but not on wow-numbers.com and at the same time 5 below average players search their stats on wow-numbers.com but not on warships.today. Now you will see a huge difference in tracked stats, because warhips.today does not even know the 5 below average exist, and wow-numbers.com does not know the 5 unicums exist. TL;DR A player must be searched by name at least once to be added to the database. Both sites can have a different amount or quality of searched (and therefore tracked) players. The stats on these stat sites are not absolute server stats, but calculated based on tracked players. Was this somewhat clear to understand?

ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
The DWT will cause some memorable moments for sure. I've watched some streams from NA where CCs played these ships. Oh boy did they curse when they send out torps at BBs behind caps and all of the sudden an enemy DD ran randomly right into the torps and with normal torps the DD would be dead, but he survived and spotted for the BBs behind them. Torps wasted, no damage dealt, didn't get the DD kill and a portion frustration on top of it. Exactly this is why i see more negative impact on the game than positive things. But we'll see when they are released. The bigest strength i have seen so far is their smoke. It blooms long, it has an okay duration but it reload super quick and you get 6 charges with SI and premium consumables. The radar looked pretty useless so far. -
Plummeting WR, sometimes you just can't win.
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
To maintain a high winrate as solo player is very dependent on the ship you play, even more so at T8+. You can carry many games as DD, but not so much as Cruiser and even less as BB. The simple reason is, as DD you are independent, you are stealthy and you have different tools to sink enemy ships while being able to outrun a lot of other ships and play objectives. These abilities are very important the longer a game last. As a cruiser you are dependent on allies, that they spot for you, that they act as meat shield for you so you can deal damage, that they play objectives for you. Bottom line is, there are ships with which it is possible to carry games and there are ships that can not do this, because they simply lack firepower, hitpoints, armor, stealth. And todays playerbase make it unfortunately necessary that you, as a solo player, have to carry at least 2 ally potatoes in addition to your own weight, because they are not able to tie their own shoes without external help, let alone playing their ships properly. -

ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Tier 10 smokes are nuts on the PA DD. Much shorter duration (70s) than US DDs, but they have 6 charges (premium and SI) and the cooldown is only 80 seconds. -

ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
They are technically safe, but they are not psychologically safe. A less experienced player WILL feel uncomfortable or even panic if torps head his way, no matter what type of torps. And as we know, the average player will probably not even read the patch notes and know what deep water torps are. This will cause panic reactions for some players for sure. -
Detonations are so frustrating, I would totally slap this flag on all my ships for every battle. I use my Blys to farm credits when i need some and for this i equip gamescom camo (+50% credits), which is pretty rare, and also Zulu flag (+20% credits) plus Wyvern flag (+50% credits) and detonated quite a few times. I was so frustrated that i equipped the -70% detonation upgrade and guess what happened just as often as before? Yep, losing the rare +credits stuff to WGs fun and engaging game mechanic a couple of times. The upgrade is crap and so is the whole game mechanic.

USS Salem TX Us Cruiser is on it´s way
ThePurpleSmurf replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
Yes! Where and how to obtain it? -
They should just add the option to buy special upgrades and certain standard signals for credits. Like for example a radar upgrade for 100 million credits or detonation flags for 30k credits a piece. This would open a useful credit sink and it would eliminate some of the RNG that can give an advantage over others who are not blessed with good RNG.

ThePurpleSmurf replied to TomaszuJerzy's topic in Clan Recruitment
Why would someone do this? And to prevent this, a CL can make a new account, invite his alt account into the clan and make this account CL. Other than that do i not really care about CB and about Stalingrad. The fix days and time are also very inconvenient for me, as you might have noticed, am i currently in the morning and midday hours online, not so much in the evening and night hours. -

Played some games on NA for a change and finished the final task of stage 1 of the yamamoto campaign (yeah i know, i'm slow ^^) and opened the 2 SC full of hope for something useful and WG did not let me down. Double lemon FML. Thanks WG! -
Yes Good stealth, good and fast reloading torps, what does this tell you? Yep, mainly a torpedo boat. While the Z-46 is a really good ship (i consider it better than the so called best DD in the game, Fletcher) you have to play it different than its predecessors. This tells you already the placement of the turrets. Z-46 is mainly a torp boat and a kiter. You can not charge blindly into enemy DDs and hope hydro will save you. Starting with the Z-46 you have to learn to be really patient with your trigger finger (when to open fire) and when/how to torp enemy ships. The maneuverability of the high tier german DDs is something to get used to, because they turn like bricks. They have a slower rudder shift than i.e. US DDs and a much bigger turning radius. Up to the Z-46 you should use your hydro mainly as defensive tool to control caps and protect your allies. The hydro range is simply too short to rush every enemy DD you see and hope you make it out alive with the smoke/hydro strat. It does not work well, if the enemy DD had backup. This changes later with the Z-52, which play in a whole different league. It has a better turret placement (2 bow, 1 stern) and a long range hydro of just shy 5.9km while Z-46 only has 4.7km. Also, as T9 ship you meet the big dogs and are pretty much always in T10 battles. This means, your favourable MM is mostly over. While with Maass, Z-23 you have often lower tier enemies and you can profit greatly from ship upgrades that are not available for the lower tier ships, the T9+ ships all have same conditions. TL;DR Z-46 has to be played more passive, it's not a charge in DD but a taunt and kite DD. Get used to the difficult handling (slow rudder and huge turning radius) and learn to control your urge to pull the trigger immaturely. Use hydro as a defensive tool and get rid of the mindset that you have to use hydro to rush down enemy DDs.

You betcha! I mean, we only have to nag enough and WG will buff it. Or how do you explain the BBs with almost impossible to hit citadels, all the radar ships, the fire prevention perk, or the range upgrade for Khaba on PTS?

Oh hey look, it's weekend. Sadly in WoWs is every day weekend. Inb4 someone says again i would only pad damage without doing much for the team. They had 3 DDs, i killed all 3 of their DDs and i dealt significant damage to their BBs. The Bismarck was flooding to death but one of our useless BBs thought after being useless for the whole time he can fire the last salvo at the Bismarck for 1k damage to take the kill. This would have been such a nice daily win with the 100% bonus plus xp camo and flags for EXP. Now i know what will happen, next Fletcher game will be a shitty 7 minute roflstomp with 800 base XP on a win.

I second this radar request. I also want the upgraded Benson torps as well as a 5th gun turret. While we are at it, 2-3 knots more speed would be nice too.

ThePurpleSmurf replied to TomaszuJerzy's topic in Clan Recruitment
It seems like he is only looking for a clan to join for a couple of games to get the reward flag. Not a fan of this, but then again i do not play CB at all, so i do not care. This mercenary behavior seem to be a thing though, as i have seen other players to temporarily swap clans for this reason and i've even seen guys who offered their superunicum service for cash. No idea if they were hired though. -
It's called test server for a reason. WG is still testing how they get the mission on the server.
