From PTS patch notes Can someone post a ingame screenshot how this looks? WG does not provide a screenshot and nobody is streaming PTS, but i'm curious what this change is about.

@MrConway @Crysantos Hey guys! With todays update i ran into a serious problem which shouldn't be one in first place. Not only did the update require an absurd amount of space to download (6GB in total), the installation, or more precise the unpacking of the update, required a total of 19GB! This is combinded a total of 25GB for temporary files. I have the game installed on a SSD and the free space on the games partition is 12 GB. You can see that this is a huge problem. I though 12 GB should be enough to install the 6GB update but boy way i wrong. The GC aborted the installation because of the lack of drive space. I checked the folder sizes and the temporary update folder with the unpacked files was full, zero space left. So i had to temporarily move almost 15GB of other installed apps to free the space so WoWs could install its update. I checked the tmp folder where the client extract the update files and at its peak it was at 19.3GB. This is ridiculous! Even more so that i have about 1.5 TB free space on other drives in my computer. The whole problem could be avoided by either (1) allow us to set our own temp folder/drive where downloads and temporary files should be stored or (2) simply respect the system temp folders like any other app on the computer. There is a reason why we as user can set system variables such as tmp folder and drives within Windows. This is exactly for the reason to avoid these unnecessary problems with having to move tons of data back and forth just so a game can install an update. Thanks!

It's a strong BB for randoms, but i doubt this will be the case for ranked. Simply for the fact that Thunderer is probably the most squishy tier 10 BB. It has no superheal and a low HP pool. Yamato overmatch it, everything else get full pens and every HE spammer can feast on this ship if in range with HE pens. Yes, the guns are amazing but they won't help if you have no HP left. You can not push or tank in the Thunderer at all which you kinda have to do a lot in ranked games as a BB.

This is impossible because sky cancer is allowed to play ranked too and this ruins any tiny bit of chance to have fun in ranked with whatever class or ship.

But they do. Just in this update they changed the Blyska (again) by tiny itty bitty buffing the gun reload, which does not help with the issues the ship has at all, it's still garbage. About the ships for coal and steel, WG never made a secret about it that these ships are not considered premiums and can be changed at any time. And to be honest, the Solensk is the most stupid overpowered ship that we ever had, including Nikolai and Belfast. The firepower is one thing, but this pile of crap can park full broadside in front of 2 BB and does not get citadeled because every shells overpens. It's ridiculous.

It's a glass cannon with the precision of a shotgun. IF you hit something then yes, you deal good damage. But most of the time the shells are all over the place and at the same time every enemy craps on you because you are so squishy.

You pretty much got the jackpot because the T-61 is the only ship that is really worth getting at tier 6. Exceptional strong DD and one of the best looking ships in the game as well. I myself got the Mutsu, one of the worst possible rewards. (the forum needs a puke emoji. wasn't there one at one point?! hmm)

WG said a couple of times that this date was just added as a placeholder because their system does not allow an 'infinity' date, that's why they set the end of the year and prolong it every year. However, it was also talked about by WG on stream that they are not happy with the legendary upgrades and that it's possible that they will be replaced or removed. This also seem to be the reason why there are no legendary upgrade missions for new released tier 10 ships. Owner of legendary upgrades will receive some form of compensation, IF they should remove the upgrades.

AFAIK the detectability is determinded by the height of the conning tower. You can have the biggest, fattest and largest ship, if it has a small conning tower it will be very stealthy. And Moskva is not that much smaller, it is one huge a$$ ship that exceed the dimensions of many BBs in the game.

It is NA and Eu and probably all other regions. And it is a pre-download, the game version does not change or has any other effect on the game. It is just so you can install the update faster once the patch goes live. Go to your WoWs installation folder, look for a folder called Updates, open it and if there are files you have already pre-downloaded the update files. You DO NOT see in the game center any evidence that you already downloaded it other than the log entry. Game version does not change, you get no notification you get nothing, so don't look for changing game version numbers before the day the update get official released.

Oh come on be fair, they are most of the time SUPER disappointing.

This is neither a new game nor a AAA game. And new games with 60 to 100 GB installations have decent UIs, decent FPS, no 100% GPU load in idle mode aka the port, have tons of QoL stuff to make the players life easier instead to make it a game of will and patience. Even the most basic stuff is still missing in this game after 4 years of development and almost 50gigs - and i'm not talking about fanzy stuff but more like logical stuff such as unified hotkeys for consumables, loadouts (consumables, flags and so on) for ships, a proper chat system, a proper replay system, filters for the bazillion camos and the list goes on and on.

It's funny how they apologized for a 1.2gb update about a year (or so) ago and kinda promised that thanks to their new packing method updates will be smaller in the future. And now they casually release updates of 2gb to 3gb every time plus this gigantic update just assuming it would be okay for everyone. My WoWs EU folder, including this pre-download update, is 49gb which is absurd. I wonder if WG will sponsor me a new SSD because mine is running out of space.

Not a fan of these lidl ranked, that's why i skipped all seasons so far. But i wanna buy the Thunderer and need some more coal, so i guess i play this season. I'll probably go with Takao or maybe NC.

1. Exactly and based on the storage of the magazines CA/CL and BB can only detonate with citadel hits. The HP and were you hit it does and did not matter if you are in a DD. Even if you can citadel some cruiser as DD, it never happened that a shell hit detonated the cruiser. I've never seen it, never heard about it, never experienced it and afaik this is what WG said. Perhaps we should get a look at their how it works series if there is a detonation video. And yes, the detonation mechanic was changed, but this does not mean that a DD could ever detonate a CA/CL or BB with main guns. 2. It never happened that a BB could detonate by a DD main gun no matter where and how you hit it. Maybe your back in the day is pre-alpha but for the last 3+ years it was and is only possible to detonate a BB or CA/CL with a torpedo hit. No DD main gun is capable to penetrate the armor of a CA/CL or BB to hit the magazine that causes a detonation.

This was never possible. Cruisers and BBs can only detonate from citadel hit. Torpedo hits count as citadel hits, which is the only way to detonate a BB as a DD. DD detonations are a different story because they have no citadel.
