If you only play WoWs you don't really have to rely on the WGC. Login once and launch the game once via WGC, then set WGC to launch with Windows and hide in tray. From this moment on you can simply start the game via WorldOfWarships.exe (shortcut obviously) and it launches directly into port. Much more convenient, no WGC in the way, no need to login as the WGC does it unobtrusive in the background for you. This is how i use it since a couple of months without problems.

No need to close it, it'll just vanish in the data nirvana. But if you really want to, like it's a matter of life and death, simply contact a Mod and i'm sure they'll grant your wish.

I would need a little favor from someone who has a PTS client installed and is no computer illiterate
ThePurpleSmurf posted a topic in Off-Topic
Hey guys! If you have a PTS client installed, could you please navigate to the install folder and look for a 'game_info.xml' file. Open this file with e.g. Notepad or any other text editor and line 4 should look similar to this: <id>WOWS.EU.PRODUCTION</id> Can you copy and paste this line here please? Much obliged! -
The Large Downloaded Update Today Was The Subs?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
It pre-downloaded the upcoming patch which is more than 3 GB in size. Not subs, but excessive in size though. -
At which tier should you no longer be a total tool?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
If you understand the basic game concepts, such as play for objectives, do not try and be a hero in a 1 vs 5 fight and so on - simply said, using common sense and logic, you are already better than at least 85% of the entire WoWs gaming community. To improve into the last 15%, this will come automatically with experience, ebcause WoWs is all about experience and not a skill you learn within a couple of games of jumping from one tier to the next. -

No it doesn't. It just identifies the purpose/region of the client. -
Numeric separators in mission requirements
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Abandon_Ship's topic in General Discussion
This argument does not hold true, because there are indeed numbers in the game that use a seperator. E.g. credit values of 1 million and more, if it's a mission reward. So they use sometimes a easier to read format but usually where it is not really needed, while the more important stuff is ignored. Also, as far as i know does every programming language have built-in, or loadable modules, functionality for localization. Which means, when programmed properly, the function grabs the client language and applies language specific things such as thousand seperators, how dates are presented, how times are presented and so on. I assume that the intern who wrote this stuff years ago never bothered with implementing a localization function and so it was carried on. Now WG is too lazy (or too cheap) to refactor the code that we can actually read numbers and stuff properly. By RU logic: why change something and make it more convenient, when it worked for years and nobody died because of it. BTW, portuguese use a space 1 000 000, i'm from CH we use an apostrophe 1'000'000. UPDATE From the recent campaign Strong-Willed, final task of mission 1 -

Then start using them! More Free XP, more Commander XP, looks cooler because more flags equipped and you now look like a clothesline rather than a dangerous warship. Seriously, not using them is just meh, especially that WoWs removed the limit for how many signals you can equip. -
You know how it works. Just dodge (AA). Learn to adapt. Just stay with the fleet with your planes that they can protect your planes from this evil DD AA. If all fails: if you can't kill 'em, join 'em. On a serious note. A CV complaining about the AA of a DD is probably the most hilarious thing that is related to WoWs that i have read in months.

Can we get rid of the map Island of Ice already?
ThePurpleSmurf posted a topic in General Discussion
Seriously, this is by far the worst map in the game, even Ocean is better. The whole map design makes for the worst game experience you can have in this game. It's maybe 1 out of 15 times where a game is somewhat okayish, but this only with a lot of luck. The map is way too huge. If you are on the cap on the outer side (A or C) and want to move over to the other side of the map to help your team … well it takes a whole 6-7 minutes at maximum speed in a straight line to do so in a DD like Friesland, Halland, Daring, Gearing, and so on. And it takes even longer with a BB or most Cruiser. How can you expect teamplay when you are 6-9 minutes apart on the same map? This promotes to play lemming train deluxe. Also in a CV game, when you have the 'luck' to spawn on one flank with another ship and the rest of the team is 15-25km away in the middle and other side of the map. What exactly do you think how this will end for the ship vs the enemy CV alone or maybe with one ally who run away instantly at game start? Even in the strongst AA ship you will have a horror game, because until the moment you can finally shoot at an enemy your HP is depleted by the constant CV harassment. Then there are huge islands all over the map where you can not shoot over, so you can not even help your team in a Yamato with spotting planes and 32km range, because shots get blocked by mountains that reach up into the sky. Much teamplay, much support. And this is only in domination mode. It get's even worse in Epicenter. 8 out of 10 games at high tier on this map end in a 5-6 minute rolfstomp, because one team caps and the other doesn't. Points tick so fast that there is no hope of salvaging this game. Because of the map design for Epicenter, large ships can not really push the caps or get deleted really quick, especially cruisers. While there are some spots for cruiser to support the caps but this is again, design flaw, only possible with a lucky spawn depending if you spawn east or west, south or north. W O R S T game mode on the W O R S T map. And because all this is not enough we get most of the time also this storm thingy, that ruins the last hope of enjoyable gameplay on this map. Yes, the storm front looks really nice, optical-wise, but it's so bad for the gameplay in general. Long story short. Island of Ice is in the game sice forever (like all the way back in Beta?), it was redesigned how often, 4-5 times? And since day one it's the worst map in the game that produces nothing but [insert other word for excrement here] games. Main reason is the size, the huge distance between caps and these weird 14 Mount Everest scattered across the map. The map was always bad and every redisgn seem to make it even worse. How about to dump this map and look what players like and then design more of this kind instead to try FOR YEARS to fix this map without any success?! I already hear the puppies say 'but but but the map looks soooo good, i don't want it to go'. Well, i like to play maps that are fun and i don't really care how they look. Do i have only bad games on this map? Hell no, i had good and amazing games on it and even have YT videos up with games on this map. But they are very very rare, the overwhelming majority of games are a really, read REALLY, bad experience and a pure waste of time and equipped camo/flags. -

Can we have more reports per day?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to steveraptor's topic in General Discussion
Of course you didn't, same as @Gebe_ who gave me a "bad" reaction. Let me break it down to you so you perhaps understand this as well. The report system sucks big time with the limited amount of reports you can give for chat misbehavior, unsporting behavior and afk player. Imagine this situation: you run an amusement park with thousands of people visiting every day and you know because there are so many people, the amount of trouble (fist fights, sexual harassment, pickpockets, thieves) is accordingly high. Now you have the same report system in place like we have in WoWs - you are allowed to make just 7 calls per day to report a crime. Do you really think after you made these 7 calls everyone else suddenly stops to break the rules? No! They will continue to steal, fight each other, damage your equipment and so on but you can not report them so they will never be punished for it. This example should make it clearer to understand where the problem is with limited reports, but i honestly doubt that you will understand it now and still think a report limit is fine. -
Can we have more reports per day?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to steveraptor's topic in General Discussion
Because the amount of insults and other inappropriate comments in chat take other peoples karma into account. It is well know that once i'm out of report everyone on the server suddenly start to be nice in chat and people stop being afk or stop torping team mates. 'Ah damn, i so wanted to torp you, but you are out of reports eh? I just wait until tomorrow so you can report me.' I'm pretty sure it must have been a remote relative of you who designed the report system with the same thoughts as you have. -
Typo or Secret Mode no one knows about?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Logan_MountStuart's topic in General Discussion
They fixed the mistake with the wrong tier but there are users who have finished ranked already and can't play ranked anymore but still got the mission with the restriction 'in ranked battles'. I don't know how WG manage to fk up this simple and basic stuff again and again. Perhaps designing a mission like this is some kind of interview task for an internship. Who knows. -
client doesn't obey maxframerate setting since last update
ThePurpleSmurf replied to HassenderZerhacker's topic in General Discussion
Dealing with engine settings, general preferences (ingame settings) and mods can be a pain in the butt, especially if you have more than one client installed and want to syncronize everything with every new patch or when a new mod version is installed. Thank god for Python to make tasks like this a matter of a few lines of code and a double click. -
Because it just fits here so well when it comes to karma. I've just finished a game where i was called a useless DD and was reported because i did not went straight for the cap. I played the Halland (huge boat without smoke, mediocre concealment and slow af) and this is what the detail report of a useless DD looks like according to some people … Especially pay attention to the damage upon spotting. Apparently yolo'ing into the cap and die in the first 3 minutes is better for some team mates. And this is one of many reasons why karma is useless, sadly.

I assume the intention was a good one but the system is so poorly implemented that it's pointless. Some time ago the NA server had a reward system for a short while where you got rewarded for good ingame behavior, aka karma. When you didn't got chat banned or reported or something like this for a time period of 3 months (i believe it was 2 or 3 months) then you got a bunch of FTW camos. This link leads to the WoWs Wiki where you find the camo stats and there is also a link to the NA reward system related to it, if you want to read more about the rules and stuff. But the system is poorly implemented, it is abusable and exploitable that's why they dumped the karma reward stuff again after just a few months. The reward system was only active on NA and i believe RU, it never made it to EU.
