Ranked Battles: the Eighteenth Season
ThePurpleSmurf replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
This change was made because WG did not think ahead and added these flags manually to accounts, same as reward ships Black and Flint. This was a money factor, because some poor hobbit had to spent a few days to go through all accounts that reached rank 1. That's why it took several weeks after the end of a season before one got their rewards. But not only the flag and ship rewards were changed, the rewards in term of special camos, signals and doubloons was reduced by half. -
[Poll] How many lines with "Tier X" have you reset for the "Research Bureau" thus far?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
0 lines resetted and never will. I play almost exclusively t10 and hate lower tiers (t7 and below) so there is no way that i regrind this trash tiers when i skip/free XP them entirely when grinding a new tier 10. The whole idea of the RB is garbage. -
Remove spotting from this foched up CV class
ThePurpleSmurf replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
You mean this massive nerf to AA which is already more than useless? Where is the other part of the changes where a ship gets an AA detection debuff for 20 seconds once the AA was activated? Did they scratch it or will this be a hidden surprise once these changes go live? Other than that, CVs should have an actions radius similar to the gun firing range of surface ships. If the vessel is not in a certain range to a target planes should not be able to spot or attack. This would end this hiding in the corner across the map and drop on any target at will no matter where on the map. You wanna deal damage? Put your ship on risk like everyone else too. -

Marathon with Gifts: Submarines
ThePurpleSmurf replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Will be converted to 10k coal if they reach the sub goal, which always happened in the past. Not that much but it's free and takes just a few seconds to put the code into the redeem textfield. -

Well, technically you can get the Anchorage for free now because you don't have to pay for the last 2 stages. You can buy the starter pack for 3k doubloons which finish 2 stages, then you can grind the rest for free. -
Use the ship horn for torpedo warning
ThePurpleSmurf replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
People have eyes, a brain, on-screen torpedo warning from the game. If this is not enough then a horn won't save them either. Besides, the average protato will think you greet them and honk back while happily driving broadside into the wall of metal fish and then complain about the lack of team support and how broken op DDs are. -

What's up with the twitch drops?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to BattleshipGunner's topic in General Discussion
This is what many do. Open multiple streams, mute the sound, play games, return later to collect the drops. Yes, you can get only one loot per stream, but with 20 streams open your chance to get a drop increased to 20 times the chance. It's not that your drop chance per drop is divided by all open streams. Simply test it for yourself and report back what your experience was. -
What's up with the twitch drops?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to BattleshipGunner's topic in General Discussion
This is how Twitch drops work: Drops are not guaranteed, they have a chance to occur. There is no guarantee that you get a drop ever. You can get a maximum of 5 drops per patch interval which is usually 4 weeks Drops can not occur more than once per hour becaue this is how Twitch, not WG, works. Every hour a dice is rolled whether or not you receive a drop. If you are lucky you can get 3 drops in 3 hours or none in 3 weeks, it is purely random. If you got 5 drops in 3 days then you know for a fact that you won't get any drops in the next 27 days - this can give you the impression that drops don't work. It was stated a while a go that the chance for a drop increase if you haven't received one in a while. For example (numbers are not real because they are unknown to the public): If you have a 5% chance to receive a drop per hour but you didn't got one this time, the chance for the next hour increases to 6%. If you again didn't get a drop the chance increaes to 7% for the next hour and so on. At some point you will get a drop because your chance to get one is 100%. After the drop the chance is resetted to the initial 5%. Other than that should you watch streams to support the streamer and content creater and not for the lousy reward that drops are anyway. m2c UPDATE If you are so desperate for drops. you can open 20 streams in seperate tabs, they count as 20 seperate chances to get a drop. There is no need to be active in chat or any other activity on twitch, just have the stream running in a tab. -

WG, you may wanna look into your website login system!?
ThePurpleSmurf posted a topic in General Discussion
There is a serious clan issue that only WG can solve so i thought i contact the support (as expected, WG gives a crap and no help is to expect). This is not as easy at it sounds as you can guess, because the login system is… well… So i made a short video clip to illustrate the problem. Before the smart people come out and feed me smart ideas - yes i have deleted all my cookies, yes i have flushed the cache, yes i have tested this with 3 different browser, yes i have disabled all addons, … If i let this run for a while (like 2-3 minutes) it either let me login or it stops and i can restart the loop until it eventually let me login. It is clearly a serverside problem which should not happen, especially on the player support website! So what you'll see is that i'm logged in on the main website - top right corner. Then i click on player support and still logged in. After i click on My Tickets (the important part) i'm logged out. Trying to login starts the fun and engaging player support experience. -
You have to understand that for the rest of the world 100% means absolute, but for russians it's just a random number. That's why torpedoes in this game can have weird numbers like 323% chance to cause a flooding. No idea how this is possible with modern western world math but apparently it is in russia. Same with all %-values in this game, which includes daily wins, coupons and so on. The wording on the coupon is hogwash on purpose to trick you into things like spending money and thinking you get a great deal when even a 300% cashback would be a ripoff going by how extremely overprices anything is in this game.

Call to WG: show some responsible entrepreneurship please
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
You kidding right? I've been warned in this forum for rubbish reasons. I had discussion with official staff telling me to be political correct and nonsense like this, which is particularly funny coming from officials that work for a company that is based in a country that bans gay marriage and just recently legalized domestic violance against women. BTW, to add to that. Maybe you have seen Twitch clips or YT vidoes about it already, that a in the community well known WG official actually defended sexual crime against women on the official WG discord, which lead to several CCs leaving the CC program. Not too hard to find info about this if you know how to use google.- 87 replies

Do you notice the occasional "stuttering" / "hiccups" / "Temporary FPS drops" during the battle in game?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
There is an official WoWs video about the GFX settings but this video is old, so no idea how it holds up after so many game changes. But this video shows in general what the different settings do in a side-by-side comparison.- 188 replies

ThePurpleSmurf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
It could be lag spikes which are server related. If that's the case there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. However, do these hiccups and stuttering occur in intervals, like one to several minutes between them and then the stuttering is only for a brief moment (1-2 seconds)? If Yes, google for information about Windows Core Unpark additionally you can test if a different power plan solve the problem. Windows Settings -> System -> Power & Sleep -> Additional Power Settings -> select the Performance or High Performance profile. Usually the power plan is set to Balanced by default, which is useful for Laptops but not that much for desktop PC. What it does is, that after a while of idle the hard drives will be shut down, monitor will be turned off and, this is the relevant part for gamers, unused CPU cores are send to sleep (C-state). This happens fairly often when a game does not utilize all CPU cores, which is often not the case. If another background task, such as windows update, virus scan, driver checkup, whatever, need CPU power one or more of the sleeping CPU cores has to be woken up and this tiny delay between request and core wake up causes a tiny delay. By changing the power plan a fake load will be put on the CPU cores that they don't report and idle state. This does not cost any CPU power or slows down the computer in any way. If you open Task-Manager and go to Details tab you will even find a System Idle Process that can sometimes go up to 99%. That's the Windows own service to keep the core awake and is managed by the selected power plan. Unpark cores can be done within the registry, which is very tedious, or you can use one of the available tools out there to do the job with a few mouse clicks. Unparked cores prevent the system from ever sending any cores to sleep, because cores never report an idle state. The system runs in general smoother on cost of a few extra Watts it consumes. As i said, important for laptops that run on battery, but irrelevant for desktop computers. Note: this core parking crap feature is exclusively an Intel thing. AMD systems don't know about this at all. This is just a shot in the dark and not more than a guess. No idea if this will fix your studders/hiccups, but this core parking is known to cause this behavior especially in games on Intel platforms and gave a lot of people headache, so it's in general a good idea to unlock/unpark all CPU cores to have a smoother and more responsive system.- 188 replies

Got a SC recently with 15k Coal, which was nice, but also got something else later that day … Yep, epic Twitch drops do exist and are not just a myth. It's the current epic drop the premium CV Ark Royal. Of course this ship sucks big time, hence it's a free drop. And even worse, it's a CV that i despise so it'll probably just sit there in port and rust away. -
Sound Changes in Update 0.9.6
ThePurpleSmurf replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
WG is obsessed with changing things nobody asked for and that don't need to be changed and in return ignoring serious bugs and extreme lack of QoL things that even the cheapest indie games offer since the early 2000's.
