Is the Harugumo LU the most op LU in the game?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
I didn't. Where did i say he only sits in the back row and snipes? -
There is no incentive. It just takes double as long to rank out for minimal more reward. Reaching Rank 1 became meaningless with the new system. No more bragging rights, nothing to show off like a Jolly Roger Flag and so on. The Ranked Tokens are pretty useless too as the additional camos you can get have the same stats and provide no advantage, with the exception of the USS Black camo where the original camo has +100% while the Ranked camo has +150% to XP, FXP and Commander XP. So there is no reason to play Ranked unless you really enjoy this game mode, which i don't.

It's often a psychological thing. If you support the DD, even fighters are crap, the DD player doesn't feel left alone and that he doesn't play 1 vs 13 (for ranked or 1 vs 23 in randoms) but actually has a teammate. This potentially result in the DD player trying a bit harder rather than to think "yeah screw this team, they do not play for me, why should i play for them". This is my opinion as a DD main. If i see that someone supports me, then i try my best to support them. If people don't care (radar cruisers not supporting caps, BBs hiding behind islands, CVs no spotting a enemy DD so i can kill him, and so on) then i don't care about them and start to farm damage just for me, don't care about objectives until i can be 100% sure that a cap is free rather than to fight enemy ships over it. Long story short, it's a team game. It works best if people help each other, or at least try to do so.

Dear WG, the Vigilance skill is meant for DDs and CLs, not BBs
ThePurpleSmurf replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
The WG logic here is, nobody spec into Vigilance anyway. So it doesn't matter in which tree they put it, when nobody uses it. I'm pretty sure that's what the spreadsheet says. -
Is the Harugumo LU the most op LU in the game?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
And again, i DO NOT roast you. I just looked at your most played ship class, which is almost 75% BB and only 5% DD, and draw my conclusions. Just the same way as you do about DDs, obviously. Nobody expect you to stop to the front and spot for a DD. But by not sitting at the 1 line and making yourself a target, enemy ships will take potshots at you and then they are spotted and everyone can farm. Simple, no? And where exactly did i say ANY word about that DDs should never spot? There is a time to spot, a time to fight over objectives and a time to farm. Applying some common sense wouldn't hurt. And Harugumo is not the spotter you hope for. It's a devastating damage machine. It is designed to shred other ships with sheer gunpower and not sneak around unspotted so others can brag afterwards with their 200k game. -
Is the Harugumo LU the most op LU in the game?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
I highlighted it above. "an" Asashio player, "a" Harugumo ... this generalizes, otherwise you would have said "some" or "many" or "most of them", but you didn't. And of course it is important what your stats say, because if you are one of those BB players that only want to Deadeye, then yes, you need spotting and don't like to present yourself as target. For this you like to have a DD do all the work, while you can sit back and do exactly what you don't want gunboat DDs to do. -
Is the Harugumo LU the most op LU in the game?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
This is because these players are horsecrap at the game. Harugumo is not easy to play, because of its size and crappy maneuverability. But not every Harugumo player is trash and not everyone sits like a brick in a smoke and waits for torps, but actually knows how to deal with this problem. For these players, the smoke is the most important utility and the longer it lasts the better. But as i can see, you have 74% of your games played in BBs and only 5% DD, so you hardly know much about DD gameplay from first hand. @ColonelPeteSo like any other ship in the game? Kinda the job of a DD to torp other ships, well for the most part. But not everyone is a potato who dies this way. -
Aren't the italian skins a tad overprieced? It is over 80€ per piece
ThePurpleSmurf replied to Pappus's topic in General Discussion
I think so too. Ignore the price, it's all about prestige and bragging rights. Please buy as many as possible and for all tiers. This keeps the servers running and i don't have to throw money at them, because you already do. GOGO PERMACAMO -

Do it properly. Soon™ (ALT+0153 on Numpad) -
Times changed, you can buy them in the armory for coal and credits now - but in an inconvenient way.

Here is a crazy idea that will never become reality. Imagine you are on the signals page and you are out of certain signals. Imagine you could simply right click the signals and then purchase and boom, the Armory purchase screen opens with these very signals already selected. Wow, magic. Instead we have to remember the name of the signal, then click out way over to the Armory, which sometimes loads and sometimes it is not in the mood. Then dig our way to the signals and scroll through them all, just to notice that we forgot the name of the damn signal. So it's back to the signals page … It could be soooo easy.

This is official the worst enemy team i have ever met in my 5 years of WoWs. BTW, i played a stock (literally no upgrades, no modules) Kagero with a 6 point commander, for the five epoch campaign and still top score - mainly because i beat a Lightning in a 1v1 gunfight. Their top scorer has barely 400 XP?!?!?! This was a 7 minute game. If you can not get more than 400 XP in 7 minutes than you are the worst of the worst in this game. -
Well, it used to be different and caps got a cropton of XP. So much so, that it was nearly impossible for anything but DDs to save a star on a loss. But WG only know the sledgehammer method. Instead to finetune the XP for ranked, they just crapped the XP bonus and turned it into an XP multiplier. Means you have to deal a huge amount of damage on top of capping, so the cap XP multiplier kicks in and raises the base XP. For Randoms this is okay, because there is usually enough HP to farm, but in reduced teams with most of them sitting back or running away, it's very hard for a DD to get decent XP. Especially that DDs often hang around caps and fight over caps and have no time to run to the enemy spawn where the juicy targets hide and farm damage. As i said, look at the screenshots. Even a solo cap would give 150 to 200 XP as bonus, it still would not be enough with 3 solo caps plus a kill and defend ribbons, let alone spotting for the team, to lead the scoreboard. Having maps that require playing objectives to win, but then not rewarding doing exactly this just sucks.
-
Use some common sense please. He is talking about that he is losing a star, because he has AFKs on his team.
-
What i agree with however is, that playing objectives in Ranked should be rewarded. Look at my most recent Ranked game. I have 3 solo caps, the only caps taken in the game, the enemy team never got a cap. After that i defended the caps and i also spotted for the team and helped killing their only radar cruiser. But as you can see, winning the game more or less much single-handedly is not rewarded. If my team had played a bit more stupid and threw it, i would have not kept my star for playing exactly into my role as DD. That Stalingrad was most of the game at the 1 and 2 line, not even supporting the caps with radar. Solo caps should give an flat XP bonus, something like 150 to 200 XP. Assisted caps 75 to 100 XP. Risking the ship, playing the objectives and putting your team in a winning position, yet those in the back farming damage and then dying get rewarded. Even with a flat 150 XP bonus per solo cap i would not lead the scoreboard, but have to take the biggest risk for the team. This is how screwed up the XP system is in Ranked.
-
1. you can lose but you have to top perform to keep a star 2. if you can not progress and pass the qualification because you are simply not good enough, then kudos to WG, the system seem to work

When will manual secondary get a buff?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to leonport's topic in General Discussion
Ah, so you mean to have to invest into concealment, last stand, preventive maintenance, survivability expert on DDs, just so ONE plane or ONE radar can screw you over and make all skills useless. Or ONE HE salvo from a BB takes 50% of the DDs HP and destroys half of the modules? Weird, that other classes have problems too, eh? Have we mentioned cruisers with the exactly same problem, except they also can do everything correct and still get blown out of the water because overmatch exist? Every class has to invest A LOT and get nullified by silly crap in the game that shouldn't exist. Secondaries are just a gimmick that doesn't impact the performance as much, as being overmatched as a cruiser or getting radared or plane spotted as a DD. -
When will manual secondary get a buff?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to leonport's topic in General Discussion
@leonport @Aragathor Let's try it this way. If the stats are so good and it's all about "fun" seeing the secondaries blast away, then why buff them? The ONLY reason for a buff would be to make them stronger, kill more on their own without the player has to do anything other than get into range and click on a target once - or do i see this wrong? Or is there ANY other reason why a buff would be necessary? Or isn't it purely for the damage output to deal with one ship while shooting at another -or- dealing with a selected target without even have to bother to turn the main guns? @Itwastuesday What sense would this make? You already have guns that you control, that you can aim and fire - they are called main guns. If you want something that fires at a higher rate -> Cruiser or DD. That's not it, right? You want to sit in an immortal tank with 100k HP while at the same time have 10 Gearing guns blast away, hmm? -
When will manual secondary get a buff?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to leonport's topic in General Discussion
So a sub-30% survival rate and a below one kill / game is good stats for you? In my book this is bad, especially for a BB main. And i think i know exactly what i'm talking about, because i had enough to do with and against secondaries. As i said, if he want the AI play the game for him fine. Then i like to have homing torps on my wishlist. Why use skill to land hit, when we can let the AI do the work? I didn't stat SHAME you. Those stats are public and reflect your playstyle and play performance. Those stats are sometimes important to understand where someone is coming from. Like in your case, heavy BB main with almost exclusively playing secondary ships. This shows your extremely high death rate, your low kill rate and your main battery and secondary hit rate. Simple as that. -
When will manual secondary get a buff?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to leonport's topic in General Discussion
Looking at your stats let me assume, that this is the only playstyle you know - well, secondary BBs and CVs. You press W and hope for the best, aka the secondaries do the work for you. You have a survivability rate of 26% in your last 100 games, mostly Shikishima games, and an overall survivability rate of 37%. Both is terrible and shows anything but the situational awareness you talked about. Your K/D ratio is also below 1, which is anything but good for high tier BBs. So at least i understand where you are coming from. In the same way you hope secondaries get buffed, in the same way i hope they leave it as is, because in my opinion should the player play the game and not the AI of the game. -
When will manual secondary get a buff?
ThePurpleSmurf replied to leonport's topic in General Discussion
Why do you need a secondary build in first place? Game too hard, so you need the AI play the game for you? Secondaries are a fun gimmick, should be good to occasionally reset a cap or maybe sometimes set a fire, but a build to allow the AI to play the game for you should NOT have the capability to shred other ships without interaction from the player. If this should be the case, then yeah make secondaries like they were before, but when secondaries are manually set to a target, disable the main battery. Because why should it be possible that your ship kills enemy ships around you, while you can 100% focus on another target with your main guns? This concept is just as stupid as CVs in the game - and BTW, so is the overmatch mechanic. -
