CV play - New Player Perspective (learn from EvE Online)
Grumpy_Shark replied to sgtmarple's topic in General Discussion
Beta tester is someone who is supposed to love this game and is under WG supervisory with the task to test new ships or seek bugs and propose ways to balance or fix anything not in order. Beta tester is not someone who should undermine the game he is supposed to be beta-testing cause this breaks the no1 rule which is that is supposed to love the game he is beta-testing and that is why he would do this work. So it's one thing if an enraged player talks bad of the game and uses terms as "simplistic" and other negative terms like this compairing it with some other supposingly "deeper" game on his point of view and to have the nerve to do this on the very official forums of the game, because such an action when it comes from someone like this counts more. Beta tester is more part of the family compaired to an outsider. It's one thing if an outsider says something not in order and its completely worse if this comes out of a beta tester that is exactly a person with direct contact to developer's team that supposedly is caring for the game and that is why he is having this "tester" role. So if that person things so low about World of Warships he shouldn't be doing this "job" he should go do something else -

CV play - New Player Perspective (learn from EvE Online)

Well since you provoked me i answer that yeah it must need a big brain to use farming bots so that you can afford to "fly what yout bot can replace" This is a common practice in that game hidden carefully behind the glamorous intro traillers. Not to speak of bots manipulating the market and no matter how often you set your prices lower the bot automaticaly outcuts you. Fun and engaging must be... As for the battles themselves apart from the huge lag and the bad UI that work against you, they didn't bother to change anything in all these years... the main problem is that it's never a fair fight. It's usually an ambush were 5 people go against one. At least in world of warshps the odds are always starting even. Since both sides have equal number of ships and tiers. So in Eve yeah you have the option to fly what you can afford and die miserably in the rare situation it will be 1 vs 1, because your foe can afford more, or fly what you can't afford in hope of a better chance of survival but fall victim to ambushes like this. Gradually though sane people abandon that terrible game called Eve on line that could have been great but fails due to this and that. But it is good that it exists so that it keeps there the most terrible people. So that the other games can be free of them most of the time. Now i did not want to speak about all these grim stufff but since you provoking me here is the whole picture. -
The problem with last ranked was Julio Cesare. And my problem with that was that usually these ships was on the other team. The problem with the current ranked is the Misouri and the Black. And my problem with it is ,again, that for some reason the MM sents them to the opposite side that i am. Especialy when you reach 10 it's always that. You get a normal match you may win. Then you get one with the opposite team having Misouri + Black while and you get Fletchers and Alsaces. Oh i wish i had the Misouri but back when it was on his final days to get i was absolutely broke so i had no money to convert xp to free xp so yeah... :( But i don't blame the people who have those. I am just jealous.I am just saying what is the problem with it in my point of view. If i had the Misouri i would say that all is fine. :P As for why people play Ibuki's well they are stealthy and got torps and good caliber guns. The RoF is a bit low but you can't have everything... All in all i liked this time's ranked setting with the bonuses. They made it to make people play more openly. But quite often people don't get initiatives. They always wait for some other to do the dirty job and then you lose.

Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Grumpy_Shark replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
I do in fact the opposite. When match is lost if i am alive i go forth (the only difference is that i don't go forth like an idiot as in the past) and i try to take a few goot shots and if enemy team is kind enough or eager to end it faster i may be rewarded with a ram too and take something more like this ;) I really don't understand what is the purpose of go to hide. You gain no xp no money no damage , yeaj the match takes a bit longer to conclude for the other side but so does for you, so in the end you punish yourself even harder. Also i never "hate" my foes. If i could help them get more XP from that (lost for my side anyway) match I would without just go out and die like an idiot with nothing in return ofc. -
Well good idea this one. I ll do that! I ll drop my first squad's torps in water and go with diminished planes this way :) Sometimes there just arn't good options. Ofc is best to wait and attack only lonely and battered targers that would likely have their AA efficiency diminished... But sometimes you need something to go down asap and these is no alternative especialy if you are behind in points and there is noone else in the vicinity to take it down. But i ll use yout tip if i ever switch to 2 torp setting, thanks. PS bah i just can't go with 2 torps in tier 10... It would feel like Shokaku... and i paid all that freeXP to bypass it . I will not play Hakuryu in it's state now anyway... But if i ever do it and go with 2 torps ll use your tip in that case. PS2 i don't know i think this 2 torp setting needs "something" more in order to not feel Shokaku... Maybe a faster speed? Maybe a bigger flooding chance. I don't know . Something. After all it's tier 10 and ships got a ton of health and how likely is to hit with only 2 torps travelling so slow?

CV play - New Player Perspective (learn from EvE Online)
Grumpy_Shark replied to sgtmarple's topic in General Discussion
Hey :) I was playing EvE online about 10 years ago But eventually i quit it after 2 years and then i played again from time to time but in the end i left for good. I used to be in Northern Coalition back then in it's big war against the Band of Brothers. The thing is that although i was liking that game's vast universe and completely player driven economy etc ii just never managed to master the UI and especialy during fights due to the fact that i was shaking due to overexcitement and due to the hard to use UI + lag i was getting owned in battles all the time. Also i just couldn't bare the losses when you would lose a ship it needed lots of grinding to raise funds and get an equally capable one with T2 modules etc In the end became a chore. When several years after i happened to watch a video for World of Warships my immediate thought was "now i wish Eve online was like this" and now i am here playing this game for the past 3-4 years... Perhaps it would be nice if there could be a game called World of Warships Universe and be at some paraller space where ships would travel among the stars into the "astral seabed" so that space would be a special space where traveling would happen on a flat "astral seabed" with portals like in EvE online connecting the various sectors with Space Stations(markets) goods to buy and sell, player's driven economy but the battle would be like World of Warships at its core! So i just throw the idea here now myself perhaps someone with the computer expertise could create such a world sometime in the future. The idea ofc is free to use by anyone :) As for what you suggested i think it would create lag to have the server to calculate the motion of the planes compared to the relative motion of the AA on a moving target and calculate the likelihood of the formers (AA guns) be able to hit the latter (planes) also because in World of Warships the AA is acting more like a field around the ship and not like individual guns. And let's not forget that in actual warfare turning the AA guns to hit an actual aeroplane in the real world wasn't that hard since the aeroplane would fly up high and the relative trajectory speed would remain always small. -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Grumpy_Shark replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Quite often in matches that the initial impression is that one team has overwhelmed the other the weaker side retaliates or some player does the match of his life and actually manages to win the match for his team. And that is how we have all these beautiful videos in circulation. If surrender was an option the potatos would quite often mistakanly vote for "surrender" actually ruining the match potential for a glorious victory instead. -
I agree with this post but i need to add something on top of that. That in fact in the current state of Hakuryu it is best if you stick with the 2 torps option is best not to upgrade your torps! That is because you can't hope to do more than 1 attack , 2 at most, and your planes will all die even if you succeed because there is no way to take them out alive. So since the "upgrade" of the 2 torps just gives you a bigger wing of 12 planes instead of 10 it is best if you stick with the 10. At least in that case after your attack you end up losing 10 planes instead of 12 ! Yes it is so broken now that even the upgrades count in fact as downgrades :( PS also would be nice to give players the option to set themselves how large or small they want their winds to be because as i said , the way the game is now larger wings usually mean larger losses and not more attacks.

[ poll ] Giulio Cesare, you want her to stay in T5 or move to T6?
Grumpy_Shark replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
I don't have the ship, i wish i had it, it would made my life on that tier 5 ranked a lot easier, but i think it is unfair for the people that bought the ship as tier 5 to change it's tier now or to have it nerfed. But as such option was not in the poll i didn't vote at all. WG should think 10 times over before releasing something but once they announce and release something with specific characteristis then they should stick to it. Not nice to change afterwards after you have milked your customers. -
So lets see what the hotfix brought. Notser Hakuryu after the hotfix
Grumpy_Shark posted a topic in Videos & Streams
Watch his first game (they might be more after but i didn't watch his whole stream) On the other side Flamu avoids to play normal CVs like the plague on his twitch. At least Notser was kind enough to play the nerfed CVs of the "common plebs". -
I asked around but i got no valid responce. So i didn't know how to do it. The game should provide me with that info. Hell i didn't even know that such a move even existed. I only found about it accidentaly once while i was watching a twich live of some contributor for world of warships. "Connoisseurs" then. Thanks for the info. PS at least now if they ever revert back to the old CVs i ll know it ;)
-
It's time we end with that nonsense. The CVs don't have infinite planes. Their planes respawn infinitely. But at what rate? They respawn infinitely at the rate of 1 plane every 100seconds or around there. (correct me if i am wrong in that) Their initial hangar is 15 planes. Each full plane group has 9 planes. So when they perform an attack if they lose all planes (and with the 8.0.1 hotfix they will) then their next wave will be 2/3ds and when they lose all that too then they will be sitting ducks. This is the big misconception that was created by certain people by ignorance or on purpose.
-
I didn't hated the old CVs exactly. I just woudln't play them cause some people playing them were using exploits and secret tricks to outplay you. Such as the outofborded bypass or the strafe that at the end was used by many but i never really got to learn how the hell it could be activated and imagine i searched about it on google youtube twitch and the like. I never managed to find how the hell this "strafing" could happen. (cause a friend of mine was trying to play CVs and i knew about the strafe thing and i wanted to tell him how to do it but i never managed to learn the "secret key combo" to activate it. So he had reached tier 8 in old CVs and he didn't know how to strafe because nowhere in the game was any info about it! So the old CVs seemed like a "private club" for the few that knew the "tricks" and the "exploits" and could affect the match in large scale. And people felt locked out of all that because even if they would give them a try they would be bambouzeled by the established old timers and not only end with defeats but also the harassments of their own teamates for incompetence. While it was not incompetence in fact. It was just ignorance. And not deliberate ignorance. It was a fault of the game and WG that certain important tricks about CVs were kept secret only for a few "conosseurs" That is why most people hated the old CVs. And of course they hated them for the extreem spotting. Which needs adressing even in their current state and i suggest the "partial spotting" for them. So that they are able only to spot the location of a ship and just make it show on their teamates minimap.
-
But they are not as fast as DD torps! They never were! Before hotfix the speed of Haku torps was at 50. The speed of Midway was at 35 and that is why i went for Hakuryu. I also liked the fact that with Haku the bombing attacking sequence was more fluid. I think that the Midway just needed a buff in general cause compaired to Haku it seemed real crap. Its just that after the hotfix both are same crap. Now in those tiers the speed of DD torps start from 53 for Khabarovsk, 55 for the Black ( that is a rarity and has other gimmicks anyway) and as for the rest of them their torp speeds are between 62 to 76. But Khabarovsk is a special DD and Black is a gimmick DD. When we talk about actual DDs we start from 63 and we get to 76. So a big difference there already.
-
I agree with most of what you wrote. I just think that those torp speeds of 35 and 40 are too low. The torp speed of Haku should be at least 45 (currently after the hotfix it is at 35 before hotfix was at 50, if it was 35 i wouldn't even bother with that line) and the torp of Midway needs to rise at least to 40. Otherwise the only targets you can hope to be torping can only be some sleepy guy in a semi wrecked Kurfurst. As for the spotting it still seems too annoying cause 10 seconds window are not so many if the dd is sailing on some open area trying to flank a fleet or if the map is without much cover to begin with. So the 10 seconds will pass and what then? He will be perma spotted all the same. It will only delay the inevitable for 10 seconds. While with the "partial spotting" the game gains more in quality. It gains more dynamic flow of the battle as it reveals the location of the DD by pinpoint its exact location on the mini-map so that the other fleet can take countermeasures. I believe that if they would give it a try to see how it works the DDs would love the CVs after that and all this whining would stop.
-
Exactly. And in fact there are players able to do these numbers most of the time in all ship classes. But i didn't see anyone asking for a nerf because of that. And I think THERE was the big misconseption about the CV so called OVER-damage that they thought it needed immediate adressing. The thing with the CVs the way that work is their ultra speed of their plane groups. This gives them the potential to reach high damage on weakened lonely targets. (Now they can't with the nerfs but before they could) I ll try to explain. It has to do again with the "important damage" and the "unimportant damage" that i mentioned before. So i believe these big numbers some good players managed was mostly "unimportant damage" on "easy prey" . So the numbers may seemed big by the end of the match but it was happening in matches pretty much decided. Now i don't want to say that Hakuryu wasn't OP. It was and perhaps it needed some sort of power diminishing. But what happened to it was extreem and unfair. After all it is a t10 ship and should be easier for it to do bigger numbers than the lesser tiers of it's class as all classes of ships can do on the upper tiers compaired to the lower. And take into consideration also that in order to be reached it needs all this grinding through the lesser tiers. As it is now what is the reward for the player to take all this grind? No real reward as he will be rewarded with a similar crappy ship like before. So no insentive to play the class. Noone will play a tier 10 ship unable to do decent damage cause lets not forget that all this lower damage potential of the class will weight over the overall damage stats of the player. Before the nerf the average for Hakuryu was 100k. Now 100k was not such a big number for a CV. Some players could reach those big numbers but it was happening in special conditions against careless opponents. You can;t nerf something so bad based on that! The most annoying factor CVs brought which hasn't been adressed at all is the constant DD spotting and the annoying spotting of ship classes that need the concealment to survive. And they NEED to "camp behind masses of land" to do their thing. Some people dislike that but most cruisers NEED to play like that. They can't go zigzaging on the open against more than 1 BB and sometimes not even that. They are not made for that. I had proposed an idea a while back about that annoying constand CV spotting that annoys the playerbase. That idea was to make the CV's able to "PARTIALY SPOT" so to make the ships they normaly would spot marked on minimap (as white ships) but not actually spot them so that they can't be targeted by fellow players. This would give the CVs an important strategic role on the map by revealing the "plans" of the other team but it would no longer harass the weaker ships in the annoying way it does now.
-
They can't focus anything except for late game but that kind of damage is actually usually useless because when the CV can do some damage the match is usually already won or lost. There are 2 types of damage in this game. Perhaps most people haven't realized this. The "important damage" that wins games and the unimportant damage that might make your stats look better but is not an important factor for your team's victory. So if a game is at it's end and one side dominates the other your little damage scoring is not playing any important role. It is just a diversion so that you think you are contributing while in fact what happened was that you were practicaly carried by your team only to comensate slightly bit by the end with some irrelevant damage at targets that would die anyway or even if they wouldn't it wouldn't affect the outcome. But can you kill any valid targets even if they are alone now? No you can't. So don't fool yourself. You are not contributing as much as you think.
-
The only thing this hotfix achieved was to make the majority stop playing CVs and to get the remaining few CVs around to be even more annoying against the dds since that is about the only thing they can do now! So the problem of the annoying for the players constant spotting of dds persists and will be worse since now that CVs can't do much besides spotting they are going to stick and annoy dds even further.
-
This didn't came with 0.8 IT WAS THERE BEFORE and in fact in Flamu's stream as of recent he showed it briefly although he didn't mention with what exact key combo you could do it. I just learnt the key combo now thanks to your post! I wonder myself how long this has been out there as a "secret" shared only by a few VIPs of the game. And who knows what other backdoors or "secrets" are in this game. Perhaps even mods that actually could make you targetable even when you are informed by the game to be "undetected"? And again:Thanks for sharing dude :)

hakuryu problems with torpedo and dive bomber
Grumpy_Shark replied to DHIVISH's topic in General Discussion
You are absolutely right. It is terrible now and even if at some point they rebuff it they managed to kill any incentive for people to play CVs altogether. I wish they never had released the ship in it's OP state cause now even if they try to somewhat buff it again in the future it will always be compaired to what it was and it will always feel nerfed. They nerfed simultaneously 1) Torpedo arming distance to 1100 (1350 if one takes torp accel skill which defeats the purpose of taking the skill) . Before it was about half of that. 2) torpedo speed down to 35! (down from 50) so now most cruisers with a flag can even outrun your torps 3) torpedo flooding chance down to 1/3 4) torpedo aiming time it feels as if it went 5 times over 5) And moreover they made AA damage "normalized" taking away some of the burst damage of the flaks and adding more constant unavoidable damage. (Now this was a good move) 6) and ofc they removed the F key functionality. Now the F is practicaly self destructing your planes Now as they have done it your opponent got to be a retard blind moron with his hands tighten with a rope behind his back to manage to be hit by those torps. What a farce this whole CV release! What they did the way they present it and then nerfed it after 3-4 days I can take it only as a farce. And laugh out loud. The thing is that i believe that at some point in the distand future the ship might be rebuffed again but even if it is i doupt people are going to play it again cause they managed to lose people's TRUST. And that counts also for all their other premiums. You might get something advertized today cause it has certain characteristics and that thing might be nerfed completely tomorrow. So what they did even if they restore it back to what it was at some point managed to hurt them into the "trust" department. And i foress that they will soon gather the "fruits" of their current actions and they aren't gonna be any sweet. -
CVs are crap now.WG normaly you would owe me 38k dbs
Grumpy_Shark posted a topic in General Discussion
...but i won't be asking for a refund since 45k was a small price i had to pay in order to acquire Haku and you to nerf it the day after, cause at least now the CVs will be played even less than before so i may have "lost" 45k (well at least 7k are left to me) but i wont have to worry about CVs any more when i ll be playing my other ships. 45k doublons aka 150 euros. (aka the 99euro package with 30k doublons + the (15k+25million credits) package for 50euros. Well it's not so much for me after all. Even that outcome suits me well. CVs now after the hotfix will disappear for good. And we can all happily return to the previous play style we loved and had been used to. Game on! :) And here is a video just to remember what Hakuryu was pre-nerf. It's me on my first game on a random match with the ship.- 71 replies

So read again to clear up your head. This is what you do: The wording "infinite planes" is being used to create a false impression. and is in fact FALSE. YOU DO NOT HAVE INFINITE PLANES. You have PLANES THAT ARE RESPAWNING INFINETLY. "infinite planes" is being used by the likes of you to give the false impression that CVs have an "infinite hangar". While in fact you have a very liimited hangar. Your planes might be respawning infinitely but what really matters is THEIR RESPAWNING RATE and that respawning rate is very slow so when you lose the initial planes they take ages to respawn. Of course one could have known this by simply watching a video or by playing a couple of matches in coop but you couldn't help yourself to do even that. You only could come here and harass people because perhaps its your only way to give a meaning to your existence by harassing people with [edited] that come out of your arse. So i repeat stop ridiculing yourself even further. You know jackshit about the new CVs and how they work. And you do all these, or perhaps you are hired to do this... i don't know which is the most abnoxious... in order to harass people who come to share their thoughts about the game so to make them seem idiots. Well this harassment is something very "low" and despiceable.
