Update 0.10.1: Italian Battleships
deBanfield replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
When will there be the update that puts the Italian Battleships in the tech tree, please? The next one? -
Aircraft & aircraft carriers: Too many spoil the game?
deBanfield posted a topic in General Discussion
If this is a World of Warships game, with the emphasis on WARSHIPS what do AIRCRAFT carriers have to do with it? Shouldn't they be part of a World of Aircraft game? I am at best an average player, although occasionally I get high scores and once or twice even the best score. Nevertheless, even when I am scoring well, in come the planes spoiling my fun. It's not a gunfight any more. I have to say that playing against two aircraft carriers is too much. Shouldn't we at least limit aircraft carriers to one per game? What are we going to do when there will also be submarines? What a mess! Yes, I know I am exposing myself, just like I do in the game too often, and I am going to attract incoming fire. But, please, do not be 'ad hominem' and just present the facts, or your experiences.- 82 replies

Viribus Unitis: the First Yugoslavian Battleship
deBanfield replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
One can end up in arguments where one side does not accept the facts even if they're printed in black and white. It's a human weakness, I guess. A fixed idea wins in some people's minds. And winning--not facts, logic and discussion--is more important for them. -

Viribus Unitis: the First Yugoslavian Battleship
deBanfield replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
The BB 'Viribus Unitis' was Jugoslav for less than 24 hours. It was not yet commissioned and with only a skeleton crew. It was in no way combat-ready for the new state of Jugoslavia. It is a bad joke played by the developers. Indeed, I think it a typing mistake! (Just like calling the 'Eritrea' a cruiser.) -

A second mistake by the developers is the placing of the 'Viribus Unitis' as a Tier V warship. It is more than ridiculous. It is an INSULT to anyone like me who bought the premium ship. I have other Tier V BBs and the poor old 'Viribus Unitis' does NOT even come close to their capacities. SHAME on you developers! -
Viribus Unitis: the First Yugoslavian Battleship
deBanfield replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Viribus Unitis built at Trieste under the Austro-Hungarian Empire was its flagship until 31 October 1918 when it was handed over to the newly formed Jugoslavia, a neutral state. The following day it was sunk by the Italians thinking it was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Navy. To say that it was a Jugoslav BB is a bit far-fetched. You might as well say that the German High Seas Fleet was British the day after the Armistice. Neither is true. The 'Viribus Unitis' is a warship of the Navy of the Emperor and King (Kaiser und Konig). Full stop. Anything else is B/S. (How do you say that in Russian?) -
-
Incorrectly labelled, I would say! What about the 'Viribus Unitis'? It's a lot of fun to play with but way out of its class fighting as a tier V. It should be a tier IV.
-
Since when was the 'Eritrea' a CRUISER? It must have been a typing mistake on the part of the Regia Marina. It reclassified it as a 'nave coloniale' (colonial vessel). Then, 'nave d' appoggio' (support ship). In English, it's been called a 'sloop'.
-
When will there be a true Italian tech tree? With Tier I to X? --And not this underhand way for people to have to pay for ships that are in no way Premium ships? This is no way to play the game.
-
So you cannot purchase the ships at all, right? You have to buy containers and see what happens. Is that right? I bought one with 70 Italian tokens and got flags!!! I am beginning to think that this is a CON. Instead of an Italian Tech Tree they give you endless ways to waste more time and spend more money. Perhaps, I'm wrong. I hope so.
-
What's your point?
-
How did you get those ships? I can't figure it out. Do you have to PAY for containers?
-
I have played many battles and completed the first 6 missions actually 7 and can't see where I can buy an Italian cruiser with the armory Italian tokens. Is there a trick? The Tech Tree says I need to purchase them. With money I won't. With tokens?
-
Good for you. I have been in and out of the game all day and the problem is still there, unfortunately.
-
Since the update the only way I can exit WoW is via Task Manager because the EXIT button does not work any more. Is anyone else having the same problem?

So, there is no Italian tech tree? We have to play 40+ battles to get the Italian cruisers of the 0.8.9 update? If that's true, then it's a bummer. We've been waiting for an Italian tech tree for over a year.

Soviet Battleships: The History and Features of the In-Game Ship Models
deBanfield replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
If they don't want to pursue an Italian tech-tree, they should at least have the full complement of Italian premium ships made available for purchase, and at a much discounted price! (I think there are four: Roma, Giulio Cesare, Duca degli Abbruzzi and Duca d' Aosta.) -
Soviet Battleships: The History and Features of the In-Game Ship Models
deBanfield replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I shouldn't bang on about Italian warships, although I find their absence odd considering the presence of so many ships that have never sailed, but rather than doing what's easy--that is, making up ships that never existed and having science-fiction warfare for kiddies--I would like to see the historical part of the game developed first. Just an additional remark that should really be in another forum, Italy had a 'fleet in being' pinning down large Allied naval forces. It could not be more aggressive for two reasons, (a) Mussolini forbade the use of his navy, also because (b) Italy had no aircraft carriers in a front where the Allies had at least one. (The Ark Royal, Formidable, Eagle, Illustrious and Indomitable all served in the Mediterranean.) -

What about some non-fantasy, i.e., REAL Italian Battleships! Isn't it about time? -
I am surprised that we don't have an Italian tech tree, yet. Only one premium ship available out of the three for sale altogether. Is there a time frame for a full Italian tech tree with battleships, heavy and light cruisers and destroyers? Thanking-you.
-
Good chance that being past the start of 'next year' nothing new has eventuated for the Italians. Also, if one BB takes 6 months to build, how come there are over 200 warships of all types and the game is not even 4 years old?
