  1. If they do add these ships, I demand that this camo is included:
  2. I choose to believe this is an absolutely sublime troll.
  3. Currently I see Tiers 6, 8, and 10 as the best options for ranked. T10 is balanced -- but I agree fully that there's too much stuff in T10 right now. T8 and T6 are also balanced, and these are nice because they both get a somewhat rough MM in random queue. It's always fun to play T8 and T6 on a level playing field. As far as other options, T9 is weird because so few people keep those ships (I think MM is a big factor in this). T7 is awful for obvious reasons. Should never be used until radar is not paywalled. T5 and T4 are currently bad because they don't have fully functional CV's. I see no other issue with these -- maybe with CV rework these could be used also. T3 and below are just not that interesting gameplay wise.

    Super Noob

There ARE no bad ideas, so long as he plays co-op. I might even go further and suggest co-op is the perfect place for bad ideas.
  5. I could swear I heard devs say the October Revolution repair party will be a national flavour. So you'll get a bit of short-term tankiness, but if you use it you'll pay in the long term. Honestly I'd be happy if the tree is something like October Revolution. I like that ship. It's a well balanced, old-fashioned BB but with that quirk in damage control that makes me remember I'm playing a specific ship.

Wish List for World of Warship

#1 is something I imagine many people would love, if it worked well ... but I imagine it'd be a balancing nightmare. The various trees have strong national flavours. The whole game balances because the MM tends to distribute these national assets evenly between the two teams. Would you want to play a DD for a nation that has no radar on any ship, and then go against the US?
  7. A truly pathetic story follows. I recently got the Hiryu. I have no module upgrades on it yet -- no second fighter squad, the fighter is literally the same as on the Tier V Zuiho. So I thought I'd do one co-op to farm that +50% daily win, and gradually upgrade my ship. Well, I accidentally enter a Random game. Try to cancel, but MM was resolved in like 0.2 seconds. No problem, I think. It's probably going to be one of those Tier VII games, and I'll just trash some Königs and Kongos. Piece of Cake. Well yeah, then it's a top-heavy Tier IX game. Enemy has two Neptunes, a Seattle, and one of the few VII's is an Atlanta. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuu.... My achievement: I got a ing kill! A couple torps and some bombs into an Izumo. Never worked so hard for a kill in my life.
  8. If you want to increase your Karma (though I'm not saying you should care), playing a CV really well in operations is a good way. People really love you.
  9. Good info. I'm going to partially disagree about signals being too expensive. I've used the the signal coupons to maintain a steady supply of Papa Papas, which are one of the cheaper signals to begin with (6400 coal / 20x). Also if you play secondary builds a lot, the secondary signals are a mere 3200 coal / 20x.

    OP AP Bombs

They're IMO yet another overdone gimmick by WG. I'm OK, in general, with how CV's can demolish BB's sailing alone. There's a heck of a lot you can do to minimize the chance you're the target of CV strikes. I've been deleted by AP bombs just once. (Which, ironically, was in a Des Moines caught during DefAA cooldown.) I don't like how the AP bombs are basically binary between ~zero damage and massive damage, depending on what you strike. There should be some finer gradation there instead. Also, the circular drop pattern on GZ is stupid. There's no reason to remove the skill-based possibility to evade DB's.
  11. I'm comfortable in BB's, but I've always felt it's more difficult to swing a game in a BB. Hence the mediocre win rates. It's DD's and occasionally CL/CA who cap. It's CL/CA, and to a slightly lesser extent DD, who're the main anti-DD tool. CV's have a massive influence, between denying caps, vision control, pure damage, and denying all of these to the enemy (by countering their CV). BB then ... you can't do a heck of a lot on your own. You generally don't cap. Alone, you're easy fodder to both DD and CV, also well played HE spam cruisers. If the rest of the team is good, you'll support them to victory, by being a damage piñata instead of your team's other ships. If your DD and CL/CA and possible CV don't do their job ... you're unlikely to fill in.

    Lack of camouflages in standard

I suspect most of these people simply forgot. This has been happening more to me recently. Basically this is because all these event camos with special bonuses are coming left, right, and centre. I have several hundred of these, running out of some, but more coming in. I get one of those excellent Shark/Eagle camos, I'll use it, and then I'm out of those and it's not auto-reapplied. It was easier back when I'd either use a possible perma-camo, or have the Type 5 on auto-reapply. Happens easier if I'm playing on TS, with chit-chatting going on etc.

    Slow BB Power Creep?

I'm not quite sold on the slow speed being crippling. At least so long as its balanced by sufficient strengths. In some games it can really bite you in the [edited], but most of the time I feel it can be mitigated with skill (=anticipation, positioning, deliberate movement). Looking at it another way, I see people mostly doing more or less stationary face-tanking in their 36-knot Richelieus. Maybe New Mexico and Colorado will be helped by the CV rebalance if it makes CV's more common in those tiers. They have quite strong AA. Warspite isn't even THAT slow. And the overall handling is actually great.
  14. Speaking specifically about the camos, and the inability to mount one that gives the gameplay (not economic) advantages? I don't really care with the Kongo, but with Myoko these things are all important. Especially with an increasing number of BB's pushing into the same concealment range (which another, but separate, topic for discussion) As it is, I find it hard to justify playing the Myoko at all, when I have a good selection of non-gimped CL/CA. Might WG consider simply giving the lock-in anime camo the regular -3% concealment and +4% dispersion? Literally every other ship always runs these, and I don't see how this would break the game.
  15. Yeah, of course they're playable. They're strong ships. It's just a psychological sticking point. You never, ever, in any other scenario, need to play without those basic gameplay bonuses. Whether on silver tree ship with Type 5, whether premium ship, whether any perma/event/whatever camo. Just makes you want to play something else.

    T10 battles minimum 53% winrate

You can control it in the long term, because both teams are randomly drawn from the same pool. What this means is, in the long term you'll get an equal number of games where the MM favours you, and ones where the MM favours the enemy. The single long-term constant is ... you. Another way to think about this is, you'll get three types of games basically: Ones where your team is overall so much worse you really have no chance at all, no matter what you do. Ones where your team is overall so much better that you're essentially guaranteed to win. (Even if you play like sh*t yourself, and your team carries you to victory. No-one ever talks about these games but they happen. ) Those where the teams are roughly equally skilled. This is where you can make a difference. A super-unicum player will virtually always carry these games for his team. That border hugger in his Tirpitz will not do this. And this is why the super unicum wins at 60% and the guy in his Tirpitz is at 40%.

    T10 battles minimum 53% winrate

A lot of those bad players have super-unicum wallets, and that's really all there is to it. To play in top tiers despite bad stats, most of them would've spent significant € on premium time/ships. WG will do nothing to stop them. And honestly... I think it's your mistake to expect to find some Exclusive Club of Exceptional Videogamers at Tier 10. It's the same sh*t as the low tiers, just people who've done the grind. Go play comp games or something if you want to play with the elite. (I'll admit to being frustrated by bad team mates too. But they have every right to play.)

Iowa, its hull & is it worth it?

The different high-tier BB's are really more about choosing a play style than finding a "good" ship. The balance is pretty good overall. Honestly what I'd do, in your shoes, is start a couple new BB lines. Going all the way out to T10 is a big grind, and you could easily do a couple lines out to T7 in that time. You could explore national flavours and then do an informed choice. This would also help you find your feet in mid-tiers. Like others fairly noted above, you have the stats of a person who's really potentially a good player, but is rushing down the tiers quite quick. I spent over 300 games in the North Carolina, but ultimately that wasn't the line where I went all the way. Dabbled a bit with the Iowa, but ultimately sold it. I really disliked the drastic drop in agility compared to NC -- just my personal preference. I think Iowa isn't a terribly novice-friendly ship. Her standout asset compared to the competition is speed, and how and when to use that to best benefit your team isn't the easiest thing in this game. NC is still my favourite for T8 Ranked, beautifully balanced BB and a definite keeper.
  19. It's pretty well hidden alright. It was surprisingly recently that I found out it exists. The port UI suffers of what my division mates who work in software development call the "fighter cockpit syndrome". (But it's still heck of a lot better than in Tanks.)
  20. This is what we get in this game: This is what Warplanes has been handing out in past week's mission: Hell yeah! Gonna side with Warplanes on this one. /crotchety old dude signing off

Will get a free musashi within a week

I'm getting the Musashi, because I don't play the IJN tree alot, and will likely never make it deep down the BB tree. I got Yamamoto sitting in Fuso with 19 points, and Musashi gives me a Yamato-class ship to occasionally throw him in. If you do have -- or are going to get -- the Yamato, It's really hard to see the point in the Musashi. Why be in the same match with a gimped version of the same ship. Converse with the Salem -- I have a perma-camoed Des Moines, and really don't see the point.

Operation "Killer Whale" is waste of time

I played it for 9 times straight on Friday to grind from Ryujo to Hiryu. 8 wins, but I don't really want to ever play it again. I feel like it's pretty well balanced for a full random team, more so than Ultimate Frontier or Raptor Rescue. To be any fun, an operation needs to be robust to a couple players doing something totally useless. It's not reasonable to expect people to spend 20 minutes of their spare time if there's no chance of winning because of another player. Killer Whale is just about right. I had one game with an AFK Graf Spee and THREE DD's. It was hard, but got a 4-star win. But I agree the exit clause needs some work. Sometimes you're left hoping that the dumbass who doesn't go for exit dies, so the 50% of ships in exit zone clause is fulfilled. Usually they do die, fortunately.

    Sharks still winning?

Among my division mates I'm the first to reach max loyalty for Sharks. The others are still with Sharks though they play quite a lot. I think we need to give it a few days.

Should I stop playing tier X?

Based on your stats you're not the guy who "should" stop playing Tier X. Having said that, I feel sometimes people forget about the charms of mid-tiers. Play Tier X out of principle because 10 is the biggest number, or something like that. I play Tier X a fair amount, but if I really had to pick one tier to play for perpetuity, I'd probably pick something like VII, because the games are a bit more dynamic.
  25. Yeah, I wondering what the fire damage from those 400 secondary hits was. I run just BFT+AFT and Secondary Upgrade in my Richelieu. Mainly for AA but also for some pew-pew. I find them surprisingly good fire starters for a small investment.
