Waterline: What Will Happen Next?
wot_2016_gunner replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
For those who wonder what the Cristoforo Colombo was; The Regia Nave Scuola Cristoforo Colombo was a Training Vessel launched on April 4, 1928 and entered service the 1st July of that year. It was later sold, in 1949, to the Soviet Union as a war debt (where it was renamed Дунай, which means Danube in Russian) together with Guilio Cesare (renamed in the USSR to Novorossiysk), Duca d'Aosta and a bunch of other ships. It remained in service in the Union until 1963 when it was destroyed by a fire. Its twin (not really sister ship but neither a different class) the Amerigo Vespucci is still in service in Italy @MrConway @Crysantos @TheWarJaC I'm really hyped that we finally got the Italian BBs, looking foreward to see the full line -

they also showed Andread Doria (10*320mm guns, same as G.Cesare) and V.Veneto, which has the same guns of Impero (3x3, same as Roma, but with SAP and 33s reload), and i think it's going to stick with the same guns for Tier 9 and 10; imo adding one more turret for the Tier 9 (4x3) and them adding one gun to each turret for the Tier 10 (4x4). -

I'd assume, just assume, that the Tier 9 has 12 guns, because V.Veneto has 9 and C. Colombo has 16 -

You haven't listened correctly; they said the the Italian BBs will have tier for tier, when compared to other BBs, smaller caliber guns. Cristoforo Colombo has 16*381mm guns, the same exact guns mounted on Roma (or should i say Impero since it's the one that was tested with SAP and smoke) -

they say it at the end of the video; instead of having to win a battle, now you'll only have to gather a certain ammount of Base XP. -

Finally!! The truth about this broken BB
wot_2016_gunner replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
techically yes, even the russian DDs have had that for a while. I think that IRL it's supposed to be SAP (and btw, IRL Schranhorst and Gneisenau had all 3 shell types, HE, SAP and AP), but back then when they made the RU DDs they didn't know how to do SAP shells, so they went for AP -

same, not even going to try to click -
there's actually this picture for a possible Tosa refit
-
well, her sister is already in game (Kaga); so Tosa does have potential.

what ship is it in the screenshot?

and for the record, Battlecruiser dispersion
-
As i said, she still has a patch to go through, so we'll see. Also, a fun fact, Georgia horizontal dispersion with the -11% module is just 3m longer than a Colorado
-
Georgia. She's much more versatile than Pommern. I have her since June 2019 (got her a couple of weeks after she was released) and i can say she's worth all the coal. @CptBarney I agree; since they announced the new ships, i have the feeling that Hizen will replace Georgia in the armoury. I think Georgia is going to stay until December more or less. Hizen isn't great currently, tho she still has one patch of testing to go through (she's going to get added to the CCs accounts with te releace of 0.9.9) so she can still change; it can go both ways, but let's be optimistic.

PT 0.9.9, changes to test ships and balance changes (DB 77)

it HAD 1.8 sigma, now it's 2.0 -
So someone in Flamu's discord has communicated that the Italian Battleships have been confirmed in the Official RU Stream. Nothing has been said about them, just that they will be on PTS before the end of the year. I would assume that they will be on PTS in December to then be released (early access) for patch 1.0.0 (or 0.10.0), in January.

Italian Battleships confirmed!
wot_2016_gunner replied to wot_2016_gunner's topic in General Discussion
Well, they said in the stream that the "tease" was the test ship Impero, so i would assume that the gimmick will be SAP and Smoke, and on BBs, that's going to be pretty spicy. -

well, i mean, the same kinda happened with Roberto Bartini as i said. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Ludvigovich_Bartini Quote:"A pioneer of amphibious aircraft and ground effect vehicles, Bartini was one of the most famous engineers in the Soviet Union, nicknamed Barone Rosso (Red Baron) because of his noble descent." -

No, i don't think so. Actually; some of the first Russian hyrdoplanes were bought from Italy; as we know, The Sov. Soyuz was inspired by the V. Veneto class (if think you can see the similarities). Also, one of the less known but still great designer of the Soviet Union was the Italian Roberto Bartini (emigrated due to political reasons, later declared people's enemy, tho it was during the Stalin Purges so that basically happened to everyone, he survived to) he was the one how desing the Yer-2 heavy bomber (after he was improsoned the work was completed by Yermolayev). Also, as the payment for WW2 we gave Russia: - the battleship Guilio Cesare, which they renamed Novorossijsk and used until 1955 (that's why she's OP in game) - the training ship Colombo - the cruiser Emanuele Filiberto Duca d'Aosta (also in game) - the Destroyers Artigliere and Fuciliere - the Ciclone class torpedo boats Animoso, Ardimentoso and Fortunale - the subs Nichelio and Marea - some MAS, PT boats, tankers, landing ships, one transport ship and 12 tug boats Also, the Destroyer Tashkent was built in Livorno, Italy -

And again, what is the issue? UK and French BBs also have this "characteristic". Also, as i said, Amagi has the same deck plating. Also, how many ships with 460mm or larger guns are there? 3 Musashi, Yamato and Shikishima, everything else can't overmatch 32mm (not that it would matter that much with plunging fire, but 32mm is at least not overmatchable from most BBs) Again, i don't see any problems with Hizen now.
