  1. Title pretty much sums it up. Don't know which of these upgrades I should go for. I'm running Air group mod. 3 on my Taiho but I'm wondering if plane speed couldn't be in fact superior. Easier positionning, faster drop, so less time spent in AA. Faster returning. Easier fighter micromanagement. What do you think about it.
  2. That's a good point you got here.
  3. Can't tell if HEAP is going to be a must have, nor fiery takeoff, and I'm not even sure about which ship are going to pick keen intuition. But I'm pretty sure that your average potent CV player will never ever pick evasive maneuver. ASE is prior and you won't waste point on a skill that is anyway a disadvantage most of the time. Having a better plane concealment with and without a payload would have been intresting, but this no. Higher rearming time, more risks to get caught by fighters, for a buff that you don't care about. -40% isn't intresting for spotting DDs (which is what you do) and anyway it's said nowhere that you keep the buff if your planes aren't on their way to the CV and just flying around.
  4. ^ this. As I was saying before, there's no skill that gives you that powerspike like other ships. But tbh, a "nerf" is a hard call. I don't see things changing that much. Those +10% AA won't be really noticeable anyway. It will not be really worse than it was before, but it's not good. Where's the skill to improve hangar size ? plane speed ? landing or / and takeoff speed ? reduced panic effect ? plane HPs ? These are all skill that could be balanced and implemented into the game to : Force you to chose between multiple viable options, which is absolutely not the case here ; Give you the sensation that you're perking your captain for something else than just compete better with other CVs. But a nerf, no. CV situation isn't going to change even a tiny bit after this captain's rework.
  5. I'm curious about what it will be. The "Evesaive Maneuvers" is not so good as in mid and high tier the challenge is to make your planes survive the attack. You usually have enough reserves to cover your loss, and anyway slowing your planes is never a good idea. Plus, if the leak is right Air Servicing Expert is still here in the 1st line, and will be picked prior to evasive maneuvers. The BFT is now a 3 skills, and there's also vigilence on this line, so maybe not every BB will have it and anyway this 10% increase isn't that freightening, given what we've seen this year. Two is better ... well I've always considered catapult fighters way OP and with this skill it's getting worse. Not to mention that it doesn't help only vs CVs but that's like a 5 min. hydro for every CA and BB. Don't really understand why they did this. However, on the leak it says "scout planes" and not catapult fighter so despite the logo I've the secret hope that it doesn't work on fighters. But well .... Fiery takeoff looks really strong, but will not be as usefull as it seems imho. Situations when you're set on fire are not so usual. However it's very good compared to what we've got so far so ofc everyone will pick it. Not really fair tho, CV are supposed to be more afraid of fires than other ships. In the end, I'm a bit disapointed as carriers don't have strong skills except for fiery takeoff, that is still situational. Air supremacy is mostly picked for fighters so useful vs the ennemy CV only. Everything else is a minor buff that is still enjoyable, but nothing to compare with what manual secondaries, SE, DE or AFT brings to other classes. Again, there's no choice in how you perk your commander, as there will be 1 god build and everything else will be so inferior that every CV commander are going to be clones of each other. I'd have been really intrested in having the choice between skills that would improve planes speed, or survivability, or damage, or reduced their vulnerability to panick ... things like that. Things that would bring a really strong and noticeable improvement. Going back to the topic, I have no idea if it's balanced or not. But it doesn't look fun at all and except the fact that maximum cost for skills is 4 points, I don't think I like what they did there. We'll see how it really is when it'll be release tho.

    Anti-air

Allright so I was pretty sure to know how AA is working, but after reading some stuff on the wiki I'm not sure anymore. So, afaik AA works as auras of various range, applying constant DPS on a squad, and each AA overlap, which means that long range aura still apply its DPS when planes are in medium or short range aura ! Is that right ?

    Anti-air

Ok so, I've been reading this on the wiki about the GK : "AA suite range inconsistency; the guns only deal effective damage to aircraft at medium range and any that reach close range will find it easier to drop their payloads" Either I misunderstood what they wanted to say, or this needs to be modified.

    How to Shokaku?

Much better than the Hiryu. Went from night to day when I unlocked Shokaku.

    The overpen needs fixing

Again, a Hipper showed broadside 3km to my Bismarck to torp. I shot, full salvo at broadside, he ate less than 10k. This should never ever happen. That's retarded.
  10. Was thinking, maybe a split line based on kamikaze pilots. I suppose kamikaze weren't embarked in carriers IRL but it still could be fun.

    About secondaries

Secondaries are something very fun in world of warships. They make battles more entertaining, with thousands shells flying trough the skies relentlessly. However, I feel like they're not much more than a decoration. I'm not telling "buff it" or something, but I just want to share my thoughts. When I started to play I thought that secondaries were really fun. After seeing some vids I knew they were not really that effective but I guessed they were the most fun build. So when German BBs came out I was quite hyped by the Bismarck which was considered as secondary god. And after a grind to this ship and a 15pts captain, I'd say it's still fun, but most of the time it's not really useful. Even at brawling range, I noticed that these secondaries aren't really good. On other battleships they sometimes start fires but does it make a real difference ? It's only a fire here and there, if you're lucky, and that's it. Shells themselves aren't dealing much damages. On other ships like cruisers and DDs, it doesn't seem really efficient unless the ennemy come really close, like 5km. But anyway you don't want a DD or a CA at that range and if it get there, there's no way your secondaries kill him before you get torped to death. After a lot of games with 200+ secondaries hits, only very few ended up with secondaries dealing a significant amount of damages, including fire. Not talking about 50k dmg but something like 15k or 20k is what I call significant. And that's with what is considered to be the best secondary boat tier by tier. So, again, I'm not saying that it should be buffed or anything, but I just think it's a bit disapointing to see that such a fun feature can't be really useful nor reliable.

    About secondaries

Well then maybe we don't play the same game xD seriously that never ever happened to me even with 300+ hits

    About secondaries

Yes I have manual targeting, and I do use it. And yes it's true that you can damage cruisers, or DDs if they are very close, but on BBs it's really ... meh. And BBs is mostly what you're going to have at range.

    Hotspot

Having some troubles on that map as a BB. Especially when I spawn west, as going to left of the islands trio is quite useless on domination, and going trough the cap ensure you to get crossfired to death. How to handle that map ?
  15. I don't think there are any rules with MM, which is actually quite sad
  16. Cadelanne

    About secondaries

Yeah I understand how they work and why they usually don't deal that much damage, and despite thinking it's imbalanced it's just frustrating to see this rain of fire having almost no effect.
  17. Cadelanne

    About secondaries

It happens, sure. But sometimes you end up with 400 secondaries hits and less than 10k. I don't really understand it.

    The overpen needs fixing

Some people are overexagerating how bad cruisers are. Like, "it's crap", "it's useless". C'mon. Ok they may not be really strong in current meta but still, they're not "crap". And if there's something needed for cruisers to be a bit more resistant it is certainly not this. This mechanics means that even if you do a bad move, you may or may not have troubles. This is quite wrong imho. When a cruiser sail broadside to a BB it should get really punished, and even if it's often the case, there are a lot of times when it has no issues eating 4 or 5 salvos on his broadside without losing much HPs. Instant deletion is something bad, I think that even for ONE big mistake cruisers shouldn't be just deleted, but damage should be consistantly heavy which isn't the case. Instead of something that can [edited]in both ways, I'd rather have something that doesn't [edited]at all.

    Do something about catapult fighters

Well, usually the fighter is smart enough to swap to loaded bombers. When I tried this it often ended up by a whole DB squad killed for not much results. Will retry tho.

    Royal Navy CVs

I think it's legit that WG focus on RU ships. After all, IIRC most of their playerbase is located in eastern Europe and Russia so it's logical and legit that they try to satisfy the biggest number first. However, not having the British BB line in the game already is a big "meh" as they has legendary ships. The fact that they don't release a French or Italian line before RU is completed is understandable, but Brits BBs ... c'mon ! Would be like not adding any German tanks in WoT after 2 years.

    Do something about catapult fighters

True but when you're under an NC AA that is intelligent enough to turn, you don't really have time for this. The time you turn around to evade the thing, half your planes are dead. As those days I'm playing as much BBs than CVs your argument is invalid . Btw, no one that ever touched CVs above tier 7 would say such thing so ... would you be one of those guys hating on CVs without having touched them ? Btw since this topics already looks like a salt mine, let me show you some totally fair stuff again : http://www.noelshack.com/2016-49-1481482598-salt1.png http://www.noelshack.com/2016-49-1481482607-salt2.png "ayy lmao"

    Budyonny ?

How to use this ship ? Kirov was simply marvelous but this ... no fire, no damages, no pen unless the thing is showing perfect broadside ... I already noticed that I prefer mid caliber guns than small caliber like 152mm but these guns looks so bad. How can I grind trough this painful thing ? ^^

    The CV Captains Cabin

Agree that it can be a good tactic but when I try to do this I often end up in [edited]up and sending my plane into the whole ennemy fleet AA xD
  24. I've always loved this idea but it would be hard to make an UI that suits this.
