Fix matchmaking for tiers 5 and 6 ffs. It has been clear enough right after introduction of the +1 cap for up to tier 4, that this had unwanted side-effects and it's overdue to address them.

This is indeed annoying, though running personalized 24h-periods for each and every player could be a bit excessive. It would be better to just have fixed costs for a box, combined with some sort of limit on the attainable total loot daily and over a longer period of time, so we can arrive at roughly the same stuff handed out to players, yet with a bit more flexibility and less penalizing of playing during the night hours. Which is the lazy way to minimize the number of players affected by what is essentially sloppy design.

Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?
tenacious_torps replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
Which works well, if the Belfast captain thinks the smoke will make him impervious to positioning mistakes. But that's true for nearly all ships sailed by a wallet warrior who is way out of his skill tier and doesn't make the ship any less OP. OP doesn't mean the ship is overpowered irregardless of what the player does, but that results will be well above what a similarly skilled player in an average ship for tier and class will net. If you take a Nikolai and sail in straight lines in front of enemy DDs you die just like any other BB too. Does that change anything about what anybody knows about that ship and even WG admit? Not in the slightest. Your argument doesn't have a lack to stand on and not just for being anecdotal, which makes it of questionable relevance anyway. -
Yupp, badly and from the rear. And it still burns.
-
"... considering how heavily these DDs rely on smoke" Pretty much nails it, slip of the tongue or not. The rest of the video is actually pretty damning. Shoddy, Wargaming, exceptionally shoddy.

KILL THE CHAT - WG INCLUDE THIS IN NEXT PATCH
tenacious_torps replied to xER0h0UR's topic in General Discussion
Hey, yoloing is just another skill. The trick is to do it and get more from it than just a frag (or two or three...), for example break up a push and make half the enemy fleet show broadside to your team, while they compete for the honor to kill me. Don't promote being careful in a game that is plagued by overly cautious play by way to many players already. -
Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?
tenacious_torps replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
What you're saying is, that it takes more than one ship to counter her, which is the very definition of OP. The existence of this ship in the shop is a disgrace for Wargaming. Plain and simple. It made me not buy her and actually refrain from buying other ships I had already halfway in the shopping cart. I strongly dislike how the pay to win tendency in this game (no, it is not pay to progress when ships like the Belfast, Nikolai, Gremlin etc pop up on a regular basis) is getting more and more pronounced and might just move on. It's not like there's a shortage of games out there and anyway Civ VI is out, so I probably wouldn't even miss WOWS for months. Why would I continue to invest in an unhealthy ecosystem? Not the sane option. -
Purely theoretical answer, since I took the arrival of RN CLs as a good opportunity to finally start to grind German BBs... : If you want to use them more like an area denial tool (for example to prevent your target from turning away and lock him in broadside position, so you can continue to cit him), then three torps in single file behind each other are more useful than the same three torps next to each other, because they take more time to pass the relevant area, thereby denying it for a longer period of time. It's actually one of the very few ideas I could come up with how to make the line work in a less situational way at least for fighting other cruisers. My best guess, if I assume for a moment, that it's not just a gimmick, but devs actually put some thought into it. Yes, I am aware how that might sound somewhat desperate.

Leave the RN alone. If you don't like it go back to the IJN or USN

Well, rather good trolling then, I really must say. Well done. -

Ah, the interwebz... now is this sarcasm or trolling? -
This. Maybe if we keep mentioning it in every halfway relevant topic we can get WG to listen. Might take a few years though. If CVs can live with increased average waiting time for their battles due to parity requirements, so can other classes.
-
Well, it may be just about the perceived direction the game seems to be taking. If you don't like it, why invest more time from that point onward? Seems quite rational to me.
-
While I do find RN CLs a disgrace - at least the lower tier ones I actually played - this had me grinning, so well done, I guess. Anyway it's not the line, that makes me considering to leave the game, but the tendency of introducing way too many pay to win premiums. The Belfast is a particularly clear example for the contrast to the regular line. It's not only pay to win, it's pay to play at all for most players actually interested in the RN and that, dear Sir, is definitely not acceptable. Shoddy doesn't even begin to cover it. - a likely ex-customer

I finally decided to seriously grind German BBs and I find the thought of getting into friggin Nazi ships rather revolting. Is that enough feedback on RN CLs? I really do think so, yes.

Windows 10 ruins his game
tenacious_torps replied to anonym_V7A9ocbepLD9's topic in General Discussion
Dunno....replace POL starter with script to restart the game automatically? Shouldn't be that hard, grep ps output for WOWS or so, check if it's running, if not trigger restart. Sorry, don't really have the time right now to look into it, but something along that lines. -
This ship going into shop after all the reviews calling her totally OP and rightfully so... well, it just confirms that WG are well down the pay to win route. Seriously considering to leave the game for good right now. Or just buying the damn ship obviously, but the bias atm is more in the direction of leaving. British cruiser screw-up as far as the line is concerned certainly also plays its role in that, as does the upcoming shenanigans with regards to IJN DDs. I really dislike the direction this game is going quite strongly.
-
Why stop at that? They could just sell 19 point captains... in some bundle, of course. Thinking a repainted Großer Kurfürst with a crapload of flags, a fantastillion credits, 100000 doubloons and a commemorative flag featuring the troll salute in exchange for the monetary equivalent of a small car. And a deluxe edition that comes with an actual plank, hand-crafted, sporting WOWS branding, to bash your head against in the event of inexplicably still loosing a match. I really need to do something about this sleepless nights, don't do me any good.

Want aggressive Cruisers?...Just a [Proposal]
tenacious_torps replied to OOAndreasOO's topic in General Discussion
Exactly that. Why treat symptoms when you can easily remove the root cause of the problem? There's nothing wrong with cruisers, nor is there with battleships, it's just too many of their hardcounters around. Without the acknowledgement of that fact it'll be just endless tinkering. I'm pretty much for parity in terms of tonnage, 1 BB equals two cruiser equals four DDs. Seeing how cruisers and DDs have a lot more variety in the classes (a fact MM takes into consideration for DDs, should be the same for cruisers probably) that provides additional, softer counters. -
Make that multipliers for XP and/or credits earned in the battle from that point onward and make them stack. Some immediate bells and whistles won't hurt neither. It's not a simulation, right?
-
Put in reserve and retrain when British DDs arrive. Problem solved.
-
What? No torps? Pfft.
-
I'll start to seriously grind German BBs now, seeing how there'll be a fresh influx of shiny citadels. When they introduce the next DD line, I'll likely go for British cruisers. Counter-cyclical ftw.

Neither do I. Don't get me wrong, I love modding when we're single player games, but PvP is all about balancing and as long as that is shaky at best... Nah, too much, too soon, always a recipe for trouble. You can see the fallout in chat every second match already, somebody will complain about aim mods or whatever. The mere existence of mods in the game is obviously disruptive. Maybe only so, because there is no shortage of other things already that get to people with rather short fuses, but that doesn't really change the argument. As for changes to the UI: that argument had a leg to stand on until WG introduced the color blindness settings. Lack of that was obviously legitimate reason to help yourself.

Split Topic: Gameplay > The World of Warships Modpack!
tenacious_torps replied to Tivook's topic in Archive
Holy shite, get off your horse, noble knight, and talk to us common folks in plain language we can understand... Sheeeeesh... Seriously dude, I can absolutely see where you're coming from, but you are doing neither yourself nor your cause any favors with an attitude like that. As for the mod, like it or not, but better get used to it. Highly likely it will end up in the game, since WG are all for lowering skill requirements and broadening their customer base of casual gamers, who will shell out to get into higher tiers and definitely need some help to survive there. Friggin' fornication, just look at the Derpitz... and that one has turtleback armor... Fully expect this to be implemented within the next two or three month, don't like it one bit. -
Certainly true. Still, it can only help in the long run to stand up to it and well... politely show people the error of their ways. Because smacking them behind the ear is really hard to do on the internet, which explains quite a lot imho. Oh, nearly forgot: enjoy the shiny horse, she looks like a lot of fun.
