Belfast or Blys and Anshan?
tenacious_torps replied to tenacious_torps's topic in General Discussion
Picked the Leningrad over the Blys last time I was in a similar situation (discount, unused doubloons burning a hole in my pocket) and didn't regret that. Extremely fun ship to play, basically made me finally get to grips with higher tier Russian DDs by offering a quite smooth transition path between playstyles. Win% well over 60 in the Lenin. Solo. And I'm certainly not on that level usually. Yes, but... well, just as in RL really, isn't it? What I need and what I want and what I need to want... *sigh* Also just as in RL: can't make up my mind. Basically you're all right and by and large confirming my thoughts. See above re: Leningrad. Slow turrets are fine, just means you can't brawl that well, which you should avoid anyway since that's not playing to the ship's strength. I'm more worried about how she deals with tier 8 opponents, penetration will be an issue. Can she cope without both AFT and DE? Otherwise that'd be a tedious grind in the current MM. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
tenacious_torps replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
That's how bandwagons work, I'm afraid. It's more about sentiments than issues. You feel aggrieved, you find a wagon to jump. I'm not even criticizing here, usually there are solid reasons for it, they're just not properly articulated, so attached to something else that fits the general thrust. In other words: yes, incredulous maybe, but that's no reason to dismiss. -
Guide: How to wreck a game in less than 1 month

Go-to-reaction. And that's really not a good sign. People on the permanent defense get stubborn and are hard to reason with. -
Guide: How to wreck a game in less than 1 month
tenacious_torps replied to Spithas's topic in Archive
It has wrecked confidence and trust, if there was anything of that kidney left. I'd call that wrecked, yes. Confidence and trust in WG's ability to successfully steward this game and that's of course exactly why the new and utterly broken skill tree is relevant here too. -
Split the game into Arcade Mode and Simulation Mode
tenacious_torps replied to Admiral_Stoex's topic in General Discussion
The game already has co-op. Instead of introducing something more to screw up, maybe just fix that for those who don't really like a challenge. Make it viable credits-wise and add some spice, should do well enough. -
Split the game into Arcade Mode and Simulation Mode
tenacious_torps replied to Admiral_Stoex's topic in General Discussion
You took a lot of time to explain why the game is not a simulator and not authentic. Only to arrive at applauding a vain attempt to make it just a teenytiny bit so to the detriment of balance? Inconsistent. -
With the new update, Will we have all our Captain skill points refunded?
tenacious_torps replied to Riggerby's topic in General Discussion
You're both right obviously. Free re-skilling doesn't fix a broken design. -
Poll was easy, last option on all. Frankly, this goes through and I'm done. Not going to invest more time in a game that will be broken by design sooner or later. And that's exactly what the radio atrocity would prove: developers loosing the plot and catering to low skill players. Which is fine, just not for me. The inconsistency is worrying too. First we get the RN cruisers - high skill ceiling by design - and now this crap? Rudderless. Not a good thing for a naval game.

0.6.0 Public Test 0.6.0 Feedback - New Skill System
tenacious_torps replied to Hobbes_95's topic in Archive
You know what skill needs to be dropped to avoid the next crapstorm. Prove you learned something from the last disaster or it's back to throwing excrement in the direction of the fast rotating object. -

http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/70193-public-test-060-feedback-new-skill-system/ "3. With the release of this version, all players can reset their skills for free. Furthermore, new elite experience will allow continuing redistribution in the future, so that experimentation will not have to be paid for with doubloons." -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
tenacious_torps replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Well, maybe. Oth it's indicative of the general feeling among players: the expectation is to get screwed. And that is no reason to gloat at all, but quite worrisome with regards to the longer term prospects of the game. -
Why do I suck with the Benson so hard?
tenacious_torps replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
^^THIS! Very sound advice. Sadly it goes against all my instincts and the general passivity at those tiers sooner or later gets me mad, so I'll try mad things. Sometimes they even work and suddenly you carry a tier X match in a tier 8 DD, but a lot of the time it's a rather not so glorious and early end of the match for me. I've found that it pays to keep your eyes open for divisions on your team. If you spot a competent one go and support them. Best remedy I've been able to find, but the general problem persists. Sailing the Benson has me in a near permanent wtf?-mode. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
tenacious_torps replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Well, at least they admitted that communication was terrible - which to me at least somewhat addresses all the buIIshit they gave us (in between removal of convoy and today. Let's wait and see if that's indicative of some actual learning process. The upcoming skilltree changes will be telling. KI is still an obvious issue, we've had no shortage of opinionated posts about it on the forums, so there's your litmus test right there. -
General quality of customer relations and how to voice your displeasure effectively
tenacious_torps posted a topic in General Discussion
Given recent events, more to the point a long string of events culminating in the yet again quite different and to EU players detrimental design of the Christmas campaigns and missions, what do you think are efficient ways to make ourselves heard? Those of you who drank the cool-aide and think everything's fine and dandy, those of you who think nothing can be done anyway, please refrain from commenting, this is not a general discussion thread about how we see these events. This is about how those of us who think a lot of things are seriously wrong and believe we should at least try to have an impact can get our points across effectively. If you think an option is missing from the poll, let me know and I will add it. Note to mods: You can of course delete this thread. But frankly, this will only add to the overwhelming disgruntlement many players obviously feel and force them to turn to other places. It's not like the majority of us aren't just as much as anybody else wishing for this game to be a success or cheapskates just out to grab as much free stuff as possible. Show respect, if you don't want to loose ours. Major crapstorm is brewing up already, considering how well that served some of your competitors I'd like to invite you to entertain the idea that emotional criticism is still valuable feedback, that should be collected and acted upon, not suppressed. It never works in the digital age. -
General quality of customer relations and how to voice your displeasure effectively
tenacious_torps replied to tenacious_torps's topic in General Discussion
I somewhat agree with Nechrom really, it's necessary to take the protest outside the WG universe to really make a dent in their stats. On top of not buying, that is. For the moment though I'm kinda mellow, since WG actually put out a meaningful reaction. Still, we'll have to wait and see if this is the start of something better. So no harm done, still advisable to be prepared come the next screw-up. In fact, right now I'd go and treat me to a Belfast, if not for the upcoming skilltree change. Keen intuition is a game-breaker for me, I'd probably leave if that really gets introduced, and we haven't really had much of a response to no small amount of raised concerns about that issue. Past experience had my money on 'they will screw it up', but now at least there's some room for doubt. Maybe WG can keep their community relations on an upward trajectory and this time actually listen to players before the excrement hits the fast rotating object. I'd really like to have a go on that ship, truth be told. -
Wargaming please stop doing this to me(us)...
tenacious_torps replied to _FTD_'s topic in General Discussion
Where do I sign? If the convoys incident proves anything, it's that it doesn't pay to be coy about complaints. Crapstorms work, if connected to serious and repeated declarations of intent to quit business relations with WG. A bit sad, that it does take quite drastic rhetoric to get points across, but we're dealing with thick skulls, so keep the verbal hammer handy. -
Once it's down to general bitching I always press tab in chat. Overloading enemy communication channels is a time-honed tactic.

0.5.16.0 severe bugs after reconnecting due to lost connection
tenacious_torps posted a topic in Archive
When you loose connection during a match and reconnect, the client becomes unresponsive as in doesn't accept any commands, while you can watch the game just fine. At the end of the match result screen isn't displayed and when you get back to port, there is no GUI whatsoever, nor can you quite the game by any other means short of killing the process in taskmanager. -
@Zathras: WG wants DDs, especially IJN ones, to become extremely risk-averse. Higher tiers of the new German line feel quite similar, actually. Just spam away from max distance. And have a coffee in the meanwhile, you aren't really needed until very, very late in the game. And turn off chat. All the yelling about capping gets tedious rather quickly.

General quality of customer relations and how to voice your displeasure effectively
tenacious_torps replied to tenacious_torps's topic in General Discussion
But it's quite explicitly a biased poll - I use the term completely neutral, a bias is not a bad thing as long it's not hidden. Says so on the pack, yeah? "Those of you who drank the cool-aide and think everything's fine and dandy, those of you who think nothing can be done anyway, please refrain from commenting, this is not a general discussion thread about how we see these events. This is about how those of us who think a lot of things are seriously wrong and believe we should at least try to have an impact can get our points across effectively." It has to be biased, because the topic is how people who see developments around the game in a certain light - in other words are biased - would get that bias communicated, so it actually reaches the people about whom and about whose product they developed a certain bias and get across why they think that's a justified bias. Don't really see, how i can make the bias thing any clearer. If I'd think that descending into legaleeze would help in any way, I'd not be doing polls in the forums, but get my lawyer on it. But the whole issue is in the grey area between what they obviously can get away with from a pure legal, contractual point of view (EULA and so on) and what people believe they're entitled to, are justified in expecting in terms of a certain conduct based on mutual trust. Aeroon nailed it there, imho. Both aspects together constitute sustainable customer relations and that's part of what - I think - we need to get across. Focusing on the legal side of the equation is therefor counterproductive in my view. So, long story short, that are two things I'll not add to the poll options. -
1. Description: Game gets stuck on loading screen 2. Reproduction steps: play battles on "Neighbors" map, many of them, bug is not occurring regularly, but persistent, if it strikes 3. Results: the game doesn't load into the battle, the client is stuck in the loading screen. Mission tab shows other teams moving around. This behavior persists sometimes even after restarting the client, took me three attempts the last time to actually enter into the match. 4. Expected results: game loads, match commences. 5. Technical details: no mods installed, doesn't register as a crash - no crash log to be found. Get your fornicating act together. You milk players like money-bleeding cows, at the very least deliver a properly tested and bug-free product.

I know it's the ocean, but why so salty?
tenacious_torps replied to Syrchalis's topic in General Discussion
If you carry, you're a killstealer, otherwise you're a noob for not hauling everybody else's backsides over the finishing line. Basic rule of WOWS, get used and learn to type faster in chat. Nothing annoys people more than getting educated on top of being out-performed, few exceptions with working brains aside. Those you could always ask to divi-up later, I guess. -
And so you should.

After WoWs freezes and you kill EXE and re-enter the game commands doesn't work any longer until you die...
tenacious_torps replied to Leo_Apollo11's question in Tech Corner
This seems very similar to a bug I had when I lost my connection and reconnected. Could watch the battle take its course, but no reaction to commands, no battle results screen and no GUI in port afterwards, also the game wouldn't quit normally, but had to be killed by taskmanager. You did file a bug report in the relevant thread, didn't you? If not, you probably should. -
Can we get a nice pink one? It'd be so fitting with the general theme. Seems a lot of people are derping around in a class they usually don't play, never saw so many pink players, never saw so much crazy random DD behavior. Result: tk'ed thrice already today and pink myself, because I really didn't expect that one sudden yolo run (not to mention that that particular player obviously didn't read chat out of principle, I was shouting at him for half a minute). Jeez, guess it's time to focus on cruisers for a while.
